I've registered two vehicles here in the past twelve months. I honestly don't know why I came back a second time, but I really wish I hadn't. The lady helping me barely knew how to use a computer and retained critically important documents that I needed. When called to ask if they could fax the documents back to me, no body answered. TEN phone calls later on the next day, someone finally picked up and told me their fax machine was broken. I will never go back. read more

I reordered my tabs via WA DOL online, and requested that Ballard Licensing mail the tabs to my home address (one of the standard options). 8 days later, when I still had not received my tabs, I called the store during business hours, but no one answered. I left a voice mail, but did not receive a call back. The second time I called, a woman answered and told me that they had mailed the tabs 7 days prior, but would not reissue them until fifteen days had expired, unless I paid a fee. She also decided to lecture me on my choice of having them mailed. I will be using a different agency for all future licensing needs. read more

Surprisingly painless and quick - I stopped in on a Monday morning to get tags and a new title for my out-of-state car. There was no waiting and I was in and out in about 15 minutes. Good idea to call ahead of time to make sure you bring the necessary documentation. I had to call twice before they answered, but they did answer and were helpful on the phone. This is an odd type of place to review, but I've used it several times for auto-license renewals and its great. Note that its located on the 2nd floor towards the back of the complex of businesses at this address. Hip tip: there is a parking lot at the back with a rear entrance to the 2nd floor. Its mostly a pay lot, but there are a handful of free spaces with a short-term limit of like 20-30 minutes. read more

Their agents are always knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. . .not a combination you usually find. Their lines are short; I have never waited more than a few minutes to be helped. I came in today to renew the tabs on my wife's car. The car is registered under her mother's name, so I brought in a STATE CERTIFIED COPY of our Marriage License with my name, my wife's name, my parents and her parents names all on it. They would not accept this STATE CERTIFIED COPY as proof of my relationship to my mother in law. But they would accept an email from my mother in law with my name on it (seriously?). They couldn't even give me a formal document with acceptable forms of ID to renew someone else's tabs when I asked for one. What a mess of a place... read more

I went there to get my tabs renewed last week and was expecting to have to wait in a lengthy line. This was my first time visiting fast tabs and they lived up to the name, it took me less than 10 minutes and this was on a saturday afternoon when most places are slam packed. Even more, the people were so friendly and didn't make me feel incompetent for forgetting my registration like has happened in the past. The simply looked up my information and proceeded from there. My mom, who lives in everett, came with me and decided that she would drive out to Ballard from now on to get her tabs at fast tabs rather than down the street from her because the service was just that impressive. Getting your tabs is not a fun or exciting experience, but at fast tabs they make it quick and painless. I'll be back next year!! read more

Never go to the DMV again, just head here. I bought a used car in Washington and as it turned out pretty much got screwed over by the dealer... They charged me for the D.O.L. fees but told me that I had to do all the work (I'm a sucker for believing them, I know). Anyway, Sabrina at Ballard Licensing figured all of this out in about 10 seconds and took care of EVERYTHING. i have been using ballard licensing for yrs, then i moved to kirkland and i began to experience 'issues' at closer licensing offices..instead of help i was sent away. sometimes in confusion,,,,not so at Ballard! they help you solve the intricate issues of licensing a vehicle in washington state. each person at fred maxis counter is an expert. correct forms are given over the counter..no need to 'go home and download' from a website, they also explain each step, which form to use and provide address and phone info on the correct dept to contact! I am giving one star for the extremely rude lady (glasses, middle aged to elderly)that was supposed to "help" me today. I just moved from out of state. I had paid off my car loan last year, but never received the title from the financial institution which was supposed to come automatically. When I moved here and realized I needed the title to register my car, I contacted both the DMV and financial institution to find out what needed to be done to get a duplicate. Both phone calls took at least 45 minutes and I was going around in circles each institution were pointing fingers at the other. When I went to get a temporary registration while I applied for a duplicate title, this lady gave me attitude about not having the title. She then starting lecturing me as if I were a kid that lost my homework about what needed to be done. When I interrupted her to tell her that I had already contacted the financial institution and the DMV she then yelled at me to let her finish. She didn't let ME finish telling her that I had already mailed a form for a duplicate title to my DMV, so I just let her finish lecturing me. I'm stressed enough about the lost title which was NOT my fault. I could use some empathic help rather than a lecture. read more

I am in the military and I bought a car out of state with a tag that was about to expire and needed it registered in my state of residency, Washington. I called three places before I talked to Carey at Ballard Licensing. He answered all my questions without any difficulty, he personalized my experience, and he contacted me right away once my paperwork was received. My paperwork was processed extremely fast, and he was very polite and professional. The whole process with Carey took less than 5 business days, from my mailing my paperwork to receiving my tags in the mail. That is really unimaginable. I am in shock. In my 35 years I have met two other people who have equaled him in customer service, and they stand out in my life as amazing examples of how someone with a positive attitude and amazing work ethic can really effect other people in an extremely positive way. There is only one word for how June and the business she runs: superb. I have been using the services of Ballard Licensing for almost eight years and have always received perfect service. June knows the business inside and out. She has handled dozens of transactions for me, from commercial to private, from cars to motorcycles to boats, and I've never had a problem. June really knows her stuff. Whenever I had any questions, she was always ready with all the information I needed to get things done quickly and correctly. There isn't a situation that June or her crew haven't seen. It really helps to be dealing with someone that will help you understand exactly what you need, and to get it done! If you're expecting unsympathetic bureaucrats, forget it. They will take good care of you, let you know everything you need to do the first time, and do it with a smile. I've since moved out of the area and live up north with plenty of licensing agencies in my area, yet I still make the trip down to see June whenever I need anything licensing related. i went to get tabs for my boat trailer they said i had to get plates also so i did . when i got the plates i went to put them on the boat and they were the wrong size plats mine were the small plates and these were the large plates. when i brought them back for the right size plates they said it was there mistake they should have known because of the licence forms . the person that did the tabs was new at the job and they were realy busy and the new person was by her self. oh well stuff happens then when i exchanged the plates they chaged me another $17.00 plus some change . they said sorry for the mistake . but why did i have to pay for there mistake i didn't want to trouble for the new person so i just paid and left . so make sure to check your plate size before you go to get tabs incase you need plates so you don't have to waist time and money going back to get the job done right read more
