Years ago I used to go to Oil Can Henry's. It was pretty ok but lacked the customer service I wanted and always had different staff or long lines. Fortunately I had tire issues and couldn't make it to one and settled on this Pep boys location. Best flat I ever had because it led me to these guys. It has been 3 years now and I will never go anywhere else for Tire, oil, belt or filter changes. John and his team put the Pep in the name! Hard working, empathetic, experienced folks made my experience here 5 stars. I had a flat tire at 4pm - places were closing, it was getting dark, and I didn't have a spare. I called one place, who told me to change the tire (when I already mentioned I didn't have a spare). I called Pep Boys, and John took the time to understand my specific circumstance, and to explain what to do / not do. I got my car towed to Pep Boys, and in no time was back on the road, even when they were really busy. Super rude and short front desk employee. Place did not even look super busy. I came in because I woke up this morning to a flat tire. Already late for work, I scrambled looking for a close place to fix my tire. Pep boys was less than half a mile from my place. I arrived there to see if I can get put in for a quick plug to my tire. The guy cut me off and said "unless you have an appt, we cannot get you in until next week" then proceeded to scoff and look away. I said "even for just a plug" he nodded while not even looking at me straight in the face. Pepboys I usually never have a problem with but this place sucks. read more

He was polite and kind as he checked my tires -- turned out they were fine -- and then reset the dash, giving me peace of mind free of charge. It's always difficult finding an auto repair shop that doesn't make you feel in the back of your mind if suggested repairs are necessary or just money grabs. This shop truly feels trustworthy. They don't do everything but what services offered they do well and don't always find something else that "needs" fixing. In fact I pressed them on whether or not new brake pads were needed, something another mechanic told me was needed, but they insisted the brakes were fine at 6mm and that brakes were something they prided themselves for doing. I went here based on the reviews I read on Yelp and Google. I was a bit disappointed with the service. To preface, I am not too familiar with cars and this was my first experience servicing a vehicle on my own. I also own a fairly old car (you could say it is on its last leg). What prompted me to write this review was finding vape in the passenger seat of my car when the service was done. I have nothing against vaping but I found this to be extremely unprofessional. There is a part of me that feels that perhaps my car was targeted because it is on the older side of vehicles being serviced. On my way out of the lot, I saw one of the workers walking towards the garage. I handed him the vape, telling him that someone's been using it in my car, and his response was "Oh, sorry." I mean, at that point, there is nothing he can do. It just left me feeling like the care/quality I read in the reviews was not there for me or my car. I also found it weird that all the other customers had their cars driven to the building when it was time for them to pick them up...Whereas, mine was driven out on the road, and re-parked in the lot. Again, not a big deal walking out into the lot to pick up my car -- I just felt a bit...neglected? Perhaps they were airing out the smell from the vape as it was pretty strong when I picked up my car ~10 minutes later. More about customer service...In the 2 hours I sat in the building waiting for my car to be fixed, no one came up to tell me how many more minutes it was going to take. It took me asking closer to the 2 hour mark for the guy to say, "Yeah it's almost done." "Like 30 minutes?" "Yeah you could say that." I was doing work on my laptop so it wasn't a big deal on it's own...BUT This indifference? towards me aligns with my initial interaction with this business, which was for an oil change. When I walked into the building, the guy at the front desk continued to type on the computer (for about 5 minutes) without acknowledging me waiting right in front of him. From what I observed (in the 2 hours I was there), I was the only person he did this to. I would not recommend this location for someone who is new to car servicing, or someone with an older vehicle. I feel that they take advantage of you not knowing anything, and can act careless with your car. With many examples indicating a lack of care towards me and my car, I cannot help but feel that my car was properly fixed. It's an awful feeling after such an expense. read more

My Lexus ES350 tire sensor died causing the dash sensor to turn on. I took vehicle into Pep Boys on Kent East hill and they were FANTASTIC!!! One sensor was dead, the other was about to die. They had 2 sensors in stock, so...got them replaced. Although I do maintenance on my vehicles, some things I cannot do - replacing a sensor in a tire is one of them (no method to take tire off rim). Pep Boys did the work for 1/2 the cost the dealer would have...and quality is same. While at Pep Boys in the lobby waiting, I witnessed the manager taking care of a customer over the phone. His battery cells were bad and he made a call to Autozone to exchange the battery free (battery was a couple years old, but should still be good for another year or two). That was awesome service taken that was not required. Just from witnessing that, I will be using Pep Boys for more services - such as alignments and other services I cannot perform. read more

John and the team were professional, helpful in their explanation and review summary of service. He pointed out what was also needed but didn't push everything on me like other technicians and mechanics often do when working on nicer cars and SUVs. Was even given a priority list in order of what needed to be taken care of right away, needed to be closely monitored and tasks that could wait until the others were completed. I think those might even be his exact words. I'd highly recommend this location over the others I have been to or live/work near. You guys must be kidding. I made an appointment for 1 PM. Somebody who works in this store called me 8.20 am in morning and I was sleeping and I did not know this number is Pepboys. I called back when I learn this number is pepboys just in a minute nobody answer my call. And then I randomly check my appointment on website and Surprise!!!! Somebody cancelled my appointment. I called store immediately and they told me that we cancelled it because you did not answer my call. Are you kidding me? You can not call people -who have appointment at noon- in morning!!! First- they're honest. They saved me from being scammed out of a thousand dollar brake repair by another mechanic. They said I had two to three months to go, and my rotors were fine. Other place said I needed all brakes and rotors replaced immediately. All I needed was front pads replaced. Even when I went back a couple months later they said I still had some time, but chose to do it then anyway. Second, they made a scheduling mistake with my tire replacement, but in that same sentence, they made it right. Great service and quick. Liz is easy to talk to and explains everything clearly. With an appointment made on line, I took my wife's Hyundai to Pep Boys on Elliott for a rudimentary oil change. My goal was to take a walk while the mechanics did their thing. Rain interrupted my walk, and I returned to Pep Boys, waiting it out in the office area. The engaging woman and guy made my wait fly by. They were the nicest people. 10/10/20 I went to the Queen Anne Location because my engine light was on. I went with hesitations because, though they had good reviews on Yelp, there was a negative review; however, thought I would give them a chance. I did bring the Yelp review to their attention, and they took the feedback with concern, but it did not appear to be valid or it may for another location. Well, I am glad that I did not rely on that one negative review. I found them to be extremely helpful for what I needed, very customer service oriented, and overall, very satisfied with their service. I would highly recommend them and have no problem returning should I need their services again. read more

Dropped off my car for routine maintenance. I literally ask for an oil change, for them to check the fluids, request a brake check and for them to rotate the tires. They tell me people can't wait in the store so I take an uber home. Note: this is a location that's in the middle of an industrial area and I have no idea how long they will take. I get a call about an hour and a half later and take an Uber back. Mind you I am now 108 dollars into this because of Ubers. I pay and leave with my car. No explanation of the service or what they've done. I do see on the receipt that they've addressed what I asked for. I'm driving home and try to clean my windshield with wiper fluid. Nothing comes out. I get home and discover the wiper fluid reservoir is bone dry. I am annoyed. Go to an auto store and pick up fluid. I refill it but it's still not working. Discover that my pump has likely failed. Now I'm pissed because this is something they would've discovered if they had done what I asked. Now I'm questioning if they did anything from changing my oil to checking my brakes. I called them. They said that they did. But hard to trust when they didn't do one of the simplest tasks I specifically asked them to. Reminder: I asked for 4 things. Oil change. Fluid check. Brake check. Rotate tires. I came to them after work right before they were to close. Ryan saw me pull up and acknowledged me while he was taking the last car off the lift into the parking area. Most shop people would be, understandably, a bit pissed off for pulling in right when shift is done. Ryan smiled and said "I'll be right with you" and finished with his last client. He was super cool and asked "What can I do for you?" All I needed was some help to get my wheel locks put on. The stock lug wrench has the shortest arm with no leverage. Before I could finish explaining, he smiled and said "pull in here and I'll get them on." It was just passed closing time but sure enough he got it done. Torqued to spec and all! I asked what do I owe you? He looked at me and simply said "This is one of the services we provide, you're good." Look there are not many people who do this. Ryan was kind and helpful where others would be a bit bothered. Make no mistake this now my shop for tires and everything else I need for four wheels. Please give them a go. read more

*WARNING - SUSPECTED CLIP JOINT* I came in for standard maintenance, oil and filter change plus tire rotation. I dropped off my car and received an alarmist voicemail an hour later that my rear brake pads and rotors need to be replaced right away and the person gave me a specific measurement of how worn they were. I always keep receipts and records for past car work, and I thought "wasn't it not that long ago that I got this work done?" I checked and sure enough I had them done in 2018, at this very place, and I have only driven 12k since then and rear brakes should be repaired every 30-70k miles. Called them back and explained the recent brake job and that it didn't make sense why they said this had to be done again. Asked them for an explanation and how they measured the specific measurement in the voicemail and did not get a clear explanation and learned that the measurement was determined via "visual inspection". Be careful you don't get roped into paying for things you don't need. If you don't mind paying extra $ for things you probably don't need, then by all means come here. read more

On 3/7/23 I made an appointment online for a full synthetic oil change at the 1961 4th Ave Seattle store for 10AM 3/8. I arrived at 9:50 AM 3/8/23 and was told that I would have to leave my vehicle all day for the scheduled oil change. I was told that a voice mail was left for me on 3/7 not a text; changing the time. It will be a cold day in hell before I patronize any Pep Boys store. Pep Boys wasted my time and gas on this bogus, unprofessional fake appointment. Showed up an hour and a half before close, with no other customers being serviced. I was not greeted by an attendant at the garage, so I went inside to find a technician behind the desk, reading a newspaper. Though he was clearly aware I had entered the office, he refused to acknowledge my presence until I greeted him, at which point he slowly looked up from his paper with a mixed expression between "I hate that you're bothering me" and "Oh please god just disappear." "Do you guys do oil changes?" I asked. "Not at this time of night," he responded. "Night," he said. I'm writing this review hours after the fact and the sun still hasn't even started to set. The technician didn't try to schedule me for another time, nor did he ask about what kind of vehicle I drove to ensure he would have the required parts before a future visit. He ended the conversation there and went back to reading his paper. Priorities, right? To be clear, I'm not hating on the technician, because he almost certainly is getting paid slave wages and has no incentive to do even the minimum of what his job requires. Good on him for getting paid vacation time while clocked in. I want to warn future customers, however, that there is a strong likelihood that visiting this location will be a time waster for you. read more

I got my oil changed there this morning and the service was amazing. Not only did they change my oil, but they also performed an inspection on my car (shocks, alignment, battery life, tires, etc), which is especially great because now I know what to keep on eye on for future visits. With the coupon you get for signing up for Pep Boys, it was cheaper than Jiffy Lube, and it was definitely better service. I'd especially like to commend John Anderson for awesome customer service too. I highly recommend going here, and I will definitely be returning the next time my car needs service. read more

This Pep Boys location is great! I have gotten my car serviced at this location 3 times now since emoving to Seattle. Each time I made an appointment and usually get my car quicker than expected. However, this last time around, the service was even more amazing! I took the car in for an oil change and inspection. Mind you, they are short on mechanics plus everyone is getting their car prepped for the colder season. John was helping me at the front desk and he was so kind and helpful even when he's swamped with customer calls. He really balanced it all really well. We got the report with some additional work that needed to be done. Our mechanic and John split the work between what was necessary and what was a "nice to have". They were so honest. I was able to bring my car in for a follow up two days later and got everything updated. read more

Just took my car in to get a leaking tire fixed. It turned that they didn't have my brand, so they couldn't fix it. But they were completely honest about it. They gave me good recommendations about another shop to go to, and re-inflated my tire for free (considering the hourly rate for their mechanics, I have to assume this cost them something). I also overheard the staff on the phone giving honest, unbiased, friendly advice to other potential customers. Whatever this shop was before, ignore that. These people are honest. read more

Don't bother bringing your one tire to get repaired because if you don't answer their questions right they'll tell you they can't fix it and try and make you buy four tires. Make sure you tell them your car is NOT all wheel drive or they will insist on putting four tires on your car they say they cannot even repair your tire or sell you a new one if they don't see your car. I told her that tires were shipped there from the beginning and she continued asking. "Are you bringing the tires or being delivered" after the fact that I had told her that it was been delivered. Go to Pep Boys on 4th instead, or try somewhere else. Engaging the Interbay Pep Boys was the worst decision I've made as a consumer to date. I just wanted tires put on (purchased through Amazon, no complaints). Selecting Pep Boys involved 11 total service visits and I'm now out the original $75 installation + $1,600 to the dealership service to fix things, along with about 8 work hours and one weekend revisiting the dealership so they could ship in replacement sensors. Brian and his crew at Interbay started out by losing one tire (which could be tracked and had been signed for individually). After I convinced Amazon to send a duplicate tire (3-hours), the 2nd appt, the instal left my tire monitors inoperative, so I had to go back a 3rd time to watched them try to learn about putting tires on my car. The manager said they didn't know what was wrong so I should try using the warranty at the dealership. My 4th stop ($500) was the dealership determining they broke a sensor during the install which they should replace. On the 5th visit, it turns out Brian ordered and installed 3rd party sensors which didn't work with the car. He then asked me to CALL another location to find out WHY. The manager on 4th said they need to use authentic sensors (hello) which he would tell the manager at Interbay, to make sure they would order. 2 weeks later they hadn't contacted me but Brian, said the MB sensors had arrived. On the 6th visit, I got to watch the employee pee/pants down in the parking lot at 8:30am. 3 hours after my 2-hr appointment, I called and they said couldn't make them work...again. He sent me to another location to try to get them activated (8th visit). I was getting new sensor service lights popping up every couple hours so I found myself back at the dealership (9th visit). Turns out Brian LIED to us both again and installed more 3rd party sensors. I had to have the sensors replaced and my computers calibrated, so they just serviced the car which was $1,100 (10th appt). I was asked to drop off the junk sensors to pep boys for visit #11. Credit to Jessie at the location on 4th. He had empathy, he tried to fix it and he said they're going to at least help me get paid back for the sensors from the dealership. read more

Totally inconvenient to have tires sitting in my living room because the manager of the store did it doesn't have the right temperament to do her job. I asked her a couple simple questions which she should have the ability to answer without being impatient or acting like I should or the answers. When telling her about her attitude and the way she talks to customers she canceled my whole appointment and sent me packing with 8 tires to scramble to find another tire installed at 3 pm on a Saturday . Luckily the general manager of the Kirkland Pep Boys picked up the slack and hustled to slide me in to their last available appointment staying over his scheduled time to complete her job. read more

First, I made an appointment for a routine oil change a week in advance for Saturday at 10am. I arrived with my partner a few minutes early, and the front desk person said that there was no record of my name on the schedule or any appointment ever booked. I immediately replied that I had spoken directly with an employee on the phone and received a text confirmation for my appointment. They replied that I could drop off my car for the ENTIRE day and they MIGHT be able to get to it by the end of the day. When I spoke to the employee on the phone, I made it clear that I could not leave my car for the entire day, and they confirmed that this was okay. So, I rescheduled for Friday at 8am, today. They said if you come at 7:45am, we will be able to get the oil change done in 45 minutes. My partner ended up waiting nearly 2 hours. Not to mention, we were overcharged ($120 for an oil change???). Definitely not coming here again and would not recommend. read more
