I bought two pair of glasses from them. Over time one pair developed two stress cracks. They admitted this was rare but refused to do anything because the warranty expired even though this is a process that developed over time. I take meticulous care of my glasses. The second pair had the anti reflective coating wear off. Again I have not seen this in any glasses I have ever worn. I think their optical products are unsatisfactory and cannot recommend. read more

I've been going to Dr. Ballard for a while now, and while his front desk staff is friendly and helpful, the techs make the experience pretty unpleasant. They come across as condescending and rude, which makes the whole visit uncomfortable. It honestly feels like they don't want to be there. I've been a patient of Dr. Ballard for a few years and while I was not impressed by the staff the first time I came in for a visit I thought he was very kind and professional. However, I came in for a few visits over last several months and I have to say the staff is so unfriendly it's off putting to the point I don't want to come back. They will not smile or make small talk and weirder yet is they make very little eye contact unless you're a child they are giving dirty looks to (which, let's face it, if you're an adult making dirty faces at children you're about as pathetic as they come). Back to the the lack of life in the staff.. it's almost like they are working there against their will. It does not help that prices here are outrageous and now there is a $150 contact fitting fee which is a pretty shiesty business decision on Dr. Ballad's part so I'm done with this place. read more

I was so glad that others had taken to Yelp, as I now choose my new doctors only by recommendations. Ballard Vision is a great place if you are looking for a new eye doctor. As someone new in town I wasn't sure where to turn and luckily Yelp reviews for Ballard Vision were great! I had my contact fitting and exam with Dr. Ballard and he was wonderful! Thorough, knowledgeable, friendly as can be and his staff were great as well! Amazing selection of frames also! I have to say I also loved that they had a specific seating area to try on contacts. May times you have to sit in the chair and try to do in the exam office. Not here. You have a nice table with mirror, and other necessities so it's easy to try on your contacts. My last eye doctor couldn't seem to get contacts that fit me well and so I actually ended up not wearing them for years. With Dr. Ballard the first ones he recommended were great. He really took the time to talk with about why I stopped wearing them and the issues I had before. Needless to say I am a contact wearer again, thanks to Dr. Ballard. The doctor is great. They'll take pictures of your eye and charge a copay of $25, that was still ok because you are there to get your eye health checkup. But the lady staff's attitude was terrible, she was treating me as if I don't deserve that luxury place! My last visit was really good, but this time it was terrible! It all started when she checked my records and figured out that I didn't buy my lenses with them during my last visit, she started making faces, not ready to answer questions. when I asked for my new lenses prescription she started saying, 'That's what I figured, Ill have that printed and you are good to go now'. I've seen Dr. Ballard exclusively since 2005 and there is no one else I would recommend more than Dr. Ballard. He and his staff are extremely courteous, and me being averse (and maybe even apprehensive) to anything medical, Dr. Ballard explains everything very clearly. He's also got a great rapport with children, as my son who is super far-sighted also goes to Dr. Ballard. Great doctor, great staff and there's coffee! We have been going to Dr Ballard for a couple years now. We really like his personality and he is very knowledgeable and caring. Seems like a great guy. My only issue with him and his office is how expensive he is. First pair of glasses were 300+ dollars after insurance. Prescription isn't anything to extensive. I wanted to get contacts and exams start from 60$ to 150$ just for the exam. I think maybe we will stick with him to keep our eyes healthy but go somewhere more affordable for glasses. My appointment was for 10am. I was here early in case there was any need to update paperwork. Front desk staff seemed confused. They said they updated all patient electronically and wanted me to fill out eight pages of online questions. I said I had already done that and asked why I needed to do it again. She checked her records and saw I had aleady done it. Music that was playing was inappropriate. The guy in charge of music seemed to realize it and changed the song. I was put in a room right away at 10am and 35 minutes later I am still sitting here and no one is bothered to come in or tell me of any delay. I'll be looking for a new eye doctor. read more

Outstanding experience at this optician. Last Brentwood optician put wrong prescriptions in both mine and my husband's glasses. Changed them but very inconvenient. Gave me a prescription for readers and I couldn't see out of them. Dr. Ballard figured out I'd been prescribed lenses for astigmatism which I don't even have! Now, after visiting Ballard Vision, I have progressives for computer and desk paperwork simultaneously, plus progressives for distance and reading. I don't even need separate readers. The frames are fabulous. Service outstanding. Very friendly and not ostentatious or pushy. Best optician I've been to in many years. Wish I'd found them before. Can't speak highly enough. read more

Broken, EXPENSIVE frames - My new lens prescription (w/ current frames) took a whole week longer than promised, and had to keep calling to find out the status. When it finally arrived I could tell something was dodgy by their reaction, and had to come back within a week due to a weak front connection. Within two weeks my expensive frames broke, and they refused to help me replace them. I'm very confident Ballard's lab caused this, and they will not step up to make it right. read more

I walked in and immediately a friendly person asked if I needed help in choosing frames. I said yes and she assured me that the optician would be right out. When he arrived and introduced himself and started showing me around, I could tell he loved his work. He explained the various choices and how it was important on how the frames fit your face. He was great in explaining the whole process including pricing and discounts for insurance. He was honest on how long it was going to take to get the glasses in. He came up with options if I couldn't wait that long.. The whole staff is friendly and professional.. They are genuine people. . Dr. Ballard was very nice and not really the issue, it was the other staff that we dealt with. When my husband placed his order for glasses and contacts, the person we dealt with never once said please or thank you (when we were making a pretty hefty payment...). When I went back to pick up the order, it wasn't ready in the promised timeframe. A week and half for a contact lens order?! On top of all that, the lady at the front desk looked at me and said "I don't know why you're looking at me, he placed the order" and walked away. Seriously rude! I am very pleased with this practice and with Dr. Ballard. The scheduling is process is easy and they have e-mail confirmation with online confirmation. The staff also responds to e-mails quickly if you have a question. Dr. Ballard is very professional. Both times I have been in there has been a brief wait. I found the staff and Dr. Ballard to be very friendly and professional. My only complaint is the wait time. I spoke to Dr. Ballard about it when he finally got into the room and he apologized but said he had some patients before who needed extra time. I have no problem with that and would hope I get extra time if I need it in the future. My request was that someone communicate that with me while I was sitting in the room waiting for 30 minutes. I am a new patient to Ballard Vision, and initially chose it based on proximity to my home and office, as well as the many positive reviews online. From my initial appointment, I was immediately impressed. The staff is friendly and helpful, and Dr. Ballard himself is awesome - friendly and easy to chat with, professional, knowledgeable, quick and efficient. He set me up with new contacts - I was previously faithful to the tried and true Acuvue Oasys for several years, but Dr. Ballard explained that they are relatively old and there are newer, better technologies/materials available on the market today. My first visit, he offered a monthly contact that allows much more oxygen flow. They felt pretty good, but I'm a dry-eye sufferer, so my next visit, Dr. Ballard set me up with another monthly contact that is an even newer technology, is new on the market, and from what I can tell, they still seem pretty exclusive so it's impressive that Ballard Vision stocks them. With allergies and some other personal kinks, I was about 99% sure these contacts were the one, but Dr. Ballard, a self-proclaimed perfectionist, wanted to make sure I was 100% sure I had the best option for me. I am now trying 2 different brands of dailies, and am sure I will find 'the one' - but even more, I am so very appreciative of Dr. Ballard's patience and willingness to make sure I am completely satisfied and comfortable. I wanted to mention as well that during my second visit, the first thing Dr. Ballard did was thank me for the review I had written for them. I was honestly surprised he had read it, but it showed how much he really cares about his patients and practice. Special shout out as well to Josh for helping me find an awesome pair of Kate Spade glasses that I LOVE, and Erica for all of her help with contact information, pricing information, and everything else! Years ago he was able to diagnose that I had a major problem with my vision which turned out to be a tumor pressing on my optic nerve. If I could give him zero stars I would. I had an appointment this morning at 9:20. Got there early filled out my paper work, the assistant did her little testing and put me in a room. Where I continued to wait and wait and wait. Finally at 10:00 I went out to the lobby asking where he was he had not even shown up yet. His staff said "oh he does this all the time" - SERIOUSLY! So I made one of them call him and they could he wasn't answering the phone. I finally left. OK unless you got hit by a bus or something when you run a business you typically show up to work on time to service your clients - and if you are running late you pick up the phone. Extremely disappointed with their unprofessional optical service. Had to ultimately cancel the order. They did not have the glasses even after 3 weeks of wait. What is more irksome is that they never could confirm when the order might be ready and kept making false promises about expected delivery. read more
