I think I need to update my review from 14 years ago!!!!…read more I stand by my original post: How wonderful to have a real grocery store that specializes in local and organic products. Much of the produce is locally grown, or locally adjacent (AKA California) OK, Bananas do not grow in the Great Basin. The origin of the produce is identified. They work with local farmers, bakeries, and other local businesses for the food and non-food items. They no longer have the upstairs restaurant but they do have a kitchen and make ready to go items. I love picking up a fresh salad (some with meat some purely vegan/vegetarian) , a yummy very generously filled wrap, house made cookies and other delectable treats. They have a large selection of locally produced meats. Lots of organic canned goods, dairy and non-dairy items . . . the list goes on. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. Memberships are available (20$/year) with a once a month 10% off of your total purchase. You do NOT need a membership to shop here. It's small and a bit cramped but there is a lot of good stuff there. It's clean and friendly and completely locally owned.

So when lunch break came around I knew exactly where I was headed, Great Basin Co-op! I enjoyed a nice brisk walk in an autumn filled day. When I entered the store I was warming greeted by staff and by an organic clean smell. I really wanted their fresh spring rolls but they did not have those that day so I chose fresh rolled salmon made with wild caught salmon. It did not disappoint! Will I be back? Absolutely! So much fresh and organic choices! They also have plenty of seating indoor or outdoor. Thanks Great Basin Co-op!

I don't use Sprouts a lot…read more I usually use a chain down the street, but my last couple of visits there the chain didn't have the ingredients I needed. So a stroll over to Sprouts. One of the nice things is, it's walkable form my house. The store is always clean. Every item, sale or not, is well marked. They offer made to order sandwiches and sushi. But have both premade for those in a hurry. It's the veggie section I seem to use the most. They have a great variety of hard to find veggies and herbs. And they are fresh. They are located in Shoppers Square strip mall. Since its huge remodel a few years ago, this area is very busy. Sprouts shares the large parking, but spaces can be hard to find during peak hours and you need to watch out for the drivers, they don't always look out for you. Probably the biggest reason I usually walk to this store. The staff have been very friendly and helpful when I look lost.

I don't come here often but when I do, I always buy a sandwich at the deli cause they're so good. I…read morebrought my friend this time cause he had never been to Sprouts. This time, I was not acknowledged at all by the 5+ staff members in the kitchen. They were all talking and laughing while I stood there holding my order slip up to make sure they knew it was ready. Two different team members walked by and didn't say anything. They had all seen me at some point and still didn't acknowledge me. I don't know how long we ended up standing there before I just threw my order slip in the trash and left. I guess I should have known the vibe was off when I first grabbed an order sheet and pencil and the lady stopped preparing a sandwich to stare at me asking if it was ready. Like no??? I JUST picked it up?? Either way, it's a cool store but this was a frustrating visit.

Ever since this market opened, I've been dying to try the food coming out of their kitchen, but…read morewithout a place to eat and a fairly limited menu, finding the right occasion when this was a good fit was tough. I found myself out and about with just my son and and we both thought a char grilled kebab sounded like a fun dinner experiment. We popped in and found who were guessing is the owner's child at the register and placed our order for their signature kebab made from ground chicken and Afghani spices. The plate came with sumac spiked basmati rice, two pieces of the chicken kebab and a small green salad plus a green hot sauce. The kebab was tender and juicy with a great flavor profile and a nice bit of charcoal flavor. We thought the rice was actually exceptional light and fluffy with a hint of that citrus sea tang from the sumac, in a buttery finish, made this a nice light side to the kebab. The salad was fresh and crunchy with cucumber, lettuce, and bell peppers and that green hot sauce was really great and we used it as a dressing because the salad did not come with one. For $16 I just felt like the value was a bit often the plate needed at least one more piece of the kebab because when finished with a small tiny salad and the kebab, we were left with a mountain of rice and that is south wasteful. I just wish the plates here were a bit more valued oriented and I guess it will take more people eating here to kind of drive that up. Highly recommend giving it a try plus the market has some really fun fines too. Share your review and let me know what you think.
