We were in Suburban Square and decided to go off the main path to try something new. The restaurant is quite small and spit into two rooms. When we dined for dinner, the room was quite loud as everyone was seated closely together and it echos. We ordered the tteokbokki with cheese, seafood pancakes, and beef tofu soup. Our server was very nice and friendly, the food came out quick as well. They started us off with banchan which included fish cakes, braised soybeans, and kimchi. The seafood pancake was the best. Great portion size, crunchy and not soggy, and loaded with seafood. The tteokbokki with cheese was okay. Flavor was good as it wasn't too spicy, but would have love to see more rice cakes and fish cakes. It was mainly sauce. The beef tofu soup was our least favorite as it tasted very bland. It seemed like most tables were ordering a sizzling plate of some kind, so if we return, I might want to try that instead. read more

Server was Korean, so it hit that checkbox of authenticity. Food is generally authentic Korean fare. It's a bit pricey. Is that because there's very little competition in the area or its just the way things are these days. The menu is also a bit limited and they ran out of chicken wings. I've had food from Bam Bam a few times with mixed results. The Beef Soup dish is very bland, but you are given a good meat portion. The bibimbap is fine, but also lacking in flavor. We walked in for dinner at 8pm, an hour before closing, and the owner was not friendly about it. He seemed annoyed and rushed us out before they closed at 9pm. The food was good! I ordered the stir fried spicy pork sizzling platter with white rice ($20). Thankfully, they still gave us the complementary side dishes (banchan). With their other entrees however, most proteins are in addition to the base price on the main page of the digital menu. Not the most welcoming environment in the late evening. The bone I've been picking with their neighbor a few blocks away did me a favor because we would not have discovered this delicious gem. I had the Misugaru since I saw it was a traditional Korean drink and I'm usually told on anything described as traditional... even if it doesn't sound like my cup of tea. Pretty much I will try anything that doesn't have the words cilantro, licorice, and tobacco. Korean traditional multi grain drink based on honey and milk with soybean, brown rice, Indian millet, millet seed, black bean, black rice, rice, peanut, sesame seed, and carrot. I wasn't sure upon my first sip. I think I was indifferent but it grew on me. It is creamy and rich and I can taste the honey, soybean, black sesame, and peanut. It would make an amazing soft serve. I recommend trying it. We started off with a large Mandoo Combo (4 Ribeye Mandoo, 4 Pork Kimchi Mandoo, 3 Veggie Mandoo, 5 Shrimp Shumai). It was served with their house made dipping sauce and they were all so delicious. The sampler is the way to go. There's almost always one thing I'm not cuckoo for when large samplers, but this was not the case. So treat yourself to a combo and get the best four worlds. When the staff brought it out, he took the time to tells which mandoo was what. A lot of people do not take the 10 seconds out if their day to do that unless you're in ultra fine dining (and that's probably or else they'll get fired). Soft tofu soup with diced zucchini and ribeye with an egg. Very delicious but portion is too tiny :(. It was probably the most I've paid for soft tofu soup given the size. I don't think it comes it rice, but I feel like they'd give you some since the staff are so kind and gracious. I definitely do not like egg yolk and I accidentally broke into one because I didn't know there was egg. The broth was so flavorful I couldn't even taste the yolk. Thd soft is great texture, sometimes it is too soft and it disintegrates when you scoop. If this is all you're planning to get, maybe get an appetizer too. I think Korean "sweet and savory" is one of the few sweet/savory I truly enjoy, versus good old traditional American BBQ sauce/pulled pork/etc. LA Galbi - Marinated bone-in prime ribs grilled in house special sauce. Served on cast iron skillet on a bed of fresh onions. Leaner cuts of meat compared to the Honey Pork. Very good, but maybe not for you if you don't like eating around the bones. Honey Pork - Korean marinated pork with "Galbi" sauce and cooked on grill. Served on cast iron skillet on a bed of fresh onions. Pork are a bit on the fatty side, but it is also where all the flavor is. Of the meat entrees, Honey Pork (also recommend by one of the staff) is definitely a good go-to. What a fabulous, authentic first time experience . Unsure what to order we asked for help. Our server recommended a tofu soup that was incredible! I wanted to try Tteok-bokki (Korean rice cakes) without the fish cake and it was wonderful. The kimchee, tofu, and cucumber they serve at the table were all yummy! We got the combo platter of mandu- could not finish but each one was delicious! The mushroom soft tofu was good with a nice variety of mushrooms, if a bit thin--they didn't give us an egg to crack into it, which was weird, given that every other Korean restaurant I've ever been to does. I assume they'd give you one if you paid for it? I enjoyed my spicy galbi tang, but not sure it was worth $25. And the honey garlic wings were fried extra crispy with good flavor, if a tiny bit dry inside. We ordered bibimbop with mushroom (no egg), the japchae with mushroom, and the stir fry with brussel sprouts and tofu. Everything was fantastic and the portions were very reasonable for the price. The stir fry was a bit spicy (so make sure to note if you don't want spice), and the japchae was some of the best I've had. The pickup process was very easy. They answered the phone when we called and had us come inside immediately to pick up the food. Payment was ahead of time. I love the "no utensils" option when ordering online!! There was a savory macaroni salad (not Korean hahah), some type of pickled root/turnip, brusell sprouts, and a great earthy and briny kimchi. There is so much going into the rice bowl: shredded egg, seaweed, pickled root of some kind, cucumbers and squash (of which I thought there was too much), mushrooms, shredded carrots, and rice. Most importantly, the rice and beef were both well-executed. I did feel like there was too much going on in the dish, and not enough cohesion of a flavor profile. Korean is becoming one of my favorite cuisines, so when a coworker suggested we go here when I was traveling for work, I was all in. I started out with the vegetable jeon (pancake) as an appetizer. It was really good. I tried a couple of the other appetizers other people got that were good too. For entrees, I split the sweet chili Korean fried chicken, bulgogi ribeye bibimbop, and ribeye kimchi fried rice with two others. It's hard to pick a favorite because they were all great. Everyone else loved their food too. The service was very friendly. It did take a long time for them to split our checks, so I recommend paying all together if you can. This is some of the best Korean food I've had. While I'm no Korean food expert, I'd say it's definitely worth trying. read more

I am the fool. I have lived here for long enough and this is first time I've tried BBK. I have finally found food that may be the level of spice that I need to feel the heat. I read the menu and picked out the regular wings (soy ginger), boneless wings (super spicy), the dumpling combo, and my new favorite, Buldak with cheese. The Buldak says it comes with yogurt and I was kind of shocked and assumed that it wouldn't be too spicy. Seemed gimmicky at first. Let me tell you..... It's hot .... I'm the kind of person that orders the hottest of hot foods and gets disappointed often. This. Did. Not. Disappoint. The dumplings are good! The boneless wings were great! I forgot to take the pictures before we started eating. Well, the dishes we ordered were Korean veggie hot pot with rice and Spicy chicken platter which was Super hot but attempting to eat more.
