Very nice restaurant in Bryn Mawr. Located in a plaza of stores anchored by a Staples, parking was fairly easy on a June Thursday. Inside is visually appealing, and quite air conditioned, this looks like a really nice place. We were three, so offered a booth or table and went booth. It's a bench style where all of us are on the same curved seat. I found the hot and sour soup to be a dark broth with deep flavor but minimal as spice. One of the better hot and sour soups I ever had. The Szechuan dumpling appetizer has no heat, like none. The sushi offerings came fresh and nicely presented. Really well done sushi. read more

I would not know about the food or service. I went on the internet a few minutes ago to see the VeeKoo menu. The site is in stop mode. All you can see is their hours for three locations for the holidays. If you can not get someone to program a web site properly I am suspect about how your organization it run. I've been to this restaurant once before and ordered the same thing, which was their Sushi and Sashimi Combo. Fish were fresh and delicious as usual. The hot and sour soup though, lots of room for improvement. It was way too thick, so thick that you can see some clumps of the flour or starch in the soup. I would definitely go back but I won't order the hot and sour soup anymore though. Service was ok, they were friendly and courteous but not very attentive. read more

The food was amazing! Came here for a bday dinner and It's the best sushi I've had in Philly (we ordered the manhattan roll). I also loved the crab Rangoon and general tso chicken. The steak and shrimp dish was a bit too salty but we still enjoyed it. Our server Jenny was extremely welcoming, nice and attentive. The place would fit right in on East Hampton, and not for the good reasons. Average to mediocre food without the quality to justify the price. For those that dont mind 200% markup for very average fare but the convenience of driving 5 min instead of 25 min is pretty much why this place is still open. The same food in a different package (location and decor) would be considered 2 star Chinese food anywhere else, hence the 2 star rating. The good: parking, usually available reservation, crispy duck on bao instead of thin pancake, BYOB so you can bring your own quality beverage of choice. The bad: the suit with glasses that makes it a big deal to seat you when the hostesses are happy to do it without his huff and puff, really? The smallest East coast oysters I have ever seen (the size of Little Neck clams) and not shucked properly with the minuscule muscles still attached to the shell, and they don't give you a seaford fork to detach it from the shell, so how are you suppose to eat it, certainly cannot be slurped. Sashimi, you get Costco quality choturo sliced so thin at NYC omakase price, again really over the top poor quality vs. price ratio. Oh, BTW that good crispy duck is $48 for 1/6 to 1/8th of a duck, when it came out I wondered where the rest of it was, deflation economics? You be the judge. Certainly deflating. With the limited dining options in Bryn Mawr, we have come here twice to give it a chance but unlikely to return for strike 3. read more

Bryn Mawr fine dining has been under-served for a long while compared to Wayne and Ardmore but that's changing fast and Veekoo is one of the reasons why! Simply stated this was the best Asian fusion food/experience I've ever had. The decor is modern with clean lines, the wait staff excellent with family ownership stopping by our table, BYOB is a big win ... and the food ... GREAT! The Sunflower, Million Dollars Roll and Tiger rolls were super tasty, the Rock Shrimp app was excellent and the Tangerine Three Delicacies and spicy Shrimp and Steak entrees were also terrific. The restaurant was very pretty but stops there. Server seemed out of her element,perhaps because we were a walk in on Mother's day and the place was nearly empty. The egg roll was crispy and flavorful. Chicken lettuce wraps were uneventful boring and a lot skimpy on the rice noodles for the crunch needed. This place has the potential to be the "it" place but unfortunately, I don't think it is. When you walk in, it looks like a nicer restaurant with candle lit tables, chic furniture, and dark lighting. The crowd was mid-aged older and millennials who were dressed up on a Tuesday to have dinner, which was interesting to the contrasting area that has surrounding colleges. For apps, we got the shrimp, scallion pancakes, and the edamame. The shrimp came out hot and was average. The scallion pancakes in my opinion were crispy and hot although I was told by my friends that theirs were cold I don't know how that happened because I was the last to eat the pancake. The edamame was delicious and salted, obviously nothing mind blowing. I ordered the triple spicy roll and it was delicious and was expected. Nothing crazy, but it had a good amount of fish. My friends ordered the love boat (extremely disappointed it did not come in a boat). What makes it the love boat then? What if there is no love? Is the name just ...? Anyways I was told that the love boat was good (despite there being no boat (physically) and no romantic love (felt)). The waiter was nice about changing the rolls since the love boat comes with chef's special rolls, but she didn't know which ones it came with and had to ask if they could even change them. One of my friends order the Fuji roll which was not pictured and he had to send it back because it tasted like grease. Also, it was fried but on the menu it didn't say it was fried. He also mentioned that it tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. He also didn't receive his second roll that he ordered until we were all half way done eating. When he asked to change the Fuji roll with another roll because it was cold and greasy, his replacement roll didn't come until he asked again. He had to get it to go because at that point everyone finished eating. We were at the restaurant for 2 hours and we had 6 total people. The customer service was nice -- but there can definitely be improvement with communication between the waiters and chefs, as well as making sure that what we ordered came out. It would also be nice to know if a roll was fried on the menu, so there wouldn't be a misunderstandings. I think the food was average and our service wasn't perfect, but over all not bad place if you want to nice setting for dinner. read more

I ordered the honey glazed shrimp with pecans and broccoli over jasmine rice. The sauce was a creamy white sauce instead of the typical brown glaze. Very good sorry no pics of that I devoured it. So today I ordered shrimp tempura and shrimp Lo Mein. My shrimp tempura was so delicious. My Lo Mein was bland and I will not get that again.
