This little restaurant is nice. It's a bit sterile atmosphere dining in, and has a stream of Door Dash types picking up. The servers are extremely friendly and attentive. The dumplings were as expected with a tasty dipping sauce reminiscent of soy and hoisin. The hot and sour soup, is a great benchmark to me. If this soup is really good, it portends favorably for the location. Here it is good. Chock full of veggies and tofu the broth has heat but just a touch thinner than I like. The Tom Ka soup is also tasty, some heat, but looking for stronger coconut flavor. The veggies are very fresh. The mixed sushi and sashimi stands out. Great mix, rice stayed formed. All was just so fresh and really a big portion for us.

Phenomenal salmon every time! Also great service, food is almost always done on time and also a place that people seem to skim over. Definitely recommend!

The upside is that it was inexpensive, which is what drew me there in the first place. My very first time eating there in March 2026. I'll start with the good: the Hong Kong wonton soup, the egg drop soup, & the beef chow fun. I would return for these items. The bad: the duck rolls, the shrimp with lobster sauce. The duck rolls, I took one bite, and that was enough. The duck was dry, it didn't have good flavor, I'm not sure if it was particularly fresh. It tasted like it could be the duck that's about to be shrink. The shrimp in lobster sauce was the worst I've ever had. Absolutely no taste. I do not use condiments and I had to put soy sauce in it. I have hypertension, I do not use soy sauce! I had to use it to choke it down. That was the most expensive dish and almost $17 so no way that was being wasted. And there was barely any shrimp in it. The ugly: The egg roll & crispy fried noodles. The oil must be very old. The egg roll was so dark and soft with oil that the oil was dripping off of it and filling the little wax paper bag. The noodles were also too dark and tasted gross like being fried and old oil. I would never get anything fried from this place ever.

Though we hadn't been there in years, Golden Bowl came to mind. Consensus: we spent a bit more than we usually do, but the food was a couple of notches better. As a point of comparison, we ordered our usual soups: hot & sour and egg-drop wonton. Hot & sour was thick and spicy. (To temper the heat, I cut my serving with spoonfuls of egg-drop.) Wontons were nicely filled and less doughy than our usual take-outs. Two thumbs up for the soup. Mongolian Beef is my husband's favorite. We both agreed that Golden Bowl's version is pretty good. Our other dish, Sizzling Triple Delight, is best eaten in the restaurant. Nothing was sizzling, but the components -- beef, chicken, shrimp and vegetables -- were well prepared. Broccoli was al dente and the brown sauce was rich and flavorful. All-in-all, branching out paid off. We'll most assuredly do it again.

While were there, many Chinese-speaking people came in to eat and order out, which is always a good sign. It is a no frills, non-fancy place to eat (kiosk ordering, self serve plastic utensils). We focused mostly on the noodle dishes for this trip, and want to go back to try their other dishes (many which seem to be more geared toward the American palate, e.g, General Tsao's chicken). Deep fried dough sticks (you tiao) - 5*/5, I love these and have not found dim sum places in Chinatown that serve the light, easy to tear apart version of this anywhere and Sang Kee Asian Bistro does not offer this on their otherwise wonder dim sum menu. I am SO happy to find this and will be back again and again just for these. Along with some hot, sweetened soy milk to dip them in, this will be my special treat/snack go to item at Taste of Chang'an. Hooray! Pork & Chives dumplings - 5/5, these are very good dumplings and although I like the filling I make better, I am unwilling to make my own wrappers so I can imagine ordering these for takeout in the future as an appetizer for a party. Hot & Sour soup - 4/5, good overall but could use more hot and more sour. I appreciated how the broth was actually not broth and not as gummy as some hot and sour soups can be. Changan Biangbiang Noodles - 4/5, I appreciated the hand pulled noodles but found the ratio of pork belly pieces to the amount of noodles to be too low so after eating my way half through the bowl I had only noodles left. Flavors are good, but the next day I did not want to eat my leftovers which is a sign. Pork Ribs Noodles - 4/5, my son had this and he and I agreed the pork ribs were more flavorful than the pork belly pieces in my noodles. He also had many leftover noodles with no more meat, and did not want to eat the leftovers. Sauteed Spicy Chicken Noodle - 4/5, my husband had this and it looked more like a chicken/green pepper dish on a bed of noodles. Leftovers had a good ratio of all items in the dish and I did eat these the next day for lunch. When I go back, I'd like to try their zha jiang noodles, pork buns, scallion pancakes, and their other dishes. And I am so happy to have found somewhere on the Main Line where I can pick up fresh, hot you tiao!

The place is a mile away and doesn't offer pickup on the app. We selected this restaurant over the other close Chinese restaurant because of the ratings but with this service I would just pick the other one. I finally called the restaurant and the lady who answered the phone said the order was delivered. The app said (and still now at 7:16 still says) the order is in process. She said her app (what app?) showed the order as being delivered. We checked the front door (we were sitting in the front room the entire time) and the food was on the front step. The driver never knocked, never rang, the app was never updated. When I opened the order, we were missing not only the large wonton soup, but also the General Tso's Chicken Combo Plattet was missing the lo mein noodles. The store offered to provide an in person credit (we were in a rush to depart on a five hour drive and had ordered delivery so we wouldn't need to go anywhere and wait) or a grubhub credit (I never use grubhub, I ordered through Yelp, and with this service I won't ever use it again.) So, a pretty lousy experience for OK Chinese food that was supposed to be convenient but was the most inconvenient delivery experience ever

The restaurant has a modern yet comfortable atmosphere, making it a great spot for both casual meals and special dinners. The staff were welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, which made ordering easy and enjoyable. For our meal, we ordered the shrimp platter and the white fish with bok choy, and both dishes were excellent. The shrimp platter was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. The shrimp were cooked perfectly--tender, juicy, and well-seasoned without overpowering the natural taste. Each bite felt fresh and balanced, and the portion size was just right. The white fish with bok choy was a standout dish. The fish was delicate, flaky, and cooked to perfection, while the bok choy added a nice crunch and freshness to the plate. The sauce was light yet flavorful, allowing the ingredients to shine without being too heavy or oily. It felt like a well-thought-out dish that reflects Dan Dan's focus on quality and authenticity. Overall, our dining experience at Dan Dan was memorable. The food quality, thoughtful preparation, and friendly service really set this restaurant apart. If you're in the Ardmore area and looking for delicious Asian-inspired cuisine made with care, Dan Dan is definitely worth a visit. We're already looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes from the menu.
