I've had Thai food here, delicious sushi, sashimi, and seared salmon. (It's my most favorite restaurant for salmon.) But before yesterday, never Chinese, and aha -- not their forte! Lunchtime is busy. I'd never been. A number of business people dart in for a quick and inexpensive meal. My friend and I did, too. I should've stuck with what I love at Tao One, but instead I went with moo goo gai pan. While okay, it wasn't as good as a restaurant that just does Chinese. Lunch specials come with soup, salad and entree, categorized on the menu by cuisine. Engrossed in conversation, I neglected to snap a photo of the moo goo. I will say that while I didn't love it, the vegetables were crisp and the portions generous. At lunchtime they're used to getting customers in-and-out to return to work. While we were eating soup, the waiter came out with salad. Then came our entrees; we were still on the soup! (No room on our two-person table for all these plates!) So I conclude: for my purposes, dinnertime is better, and I'm sticking with my favorites. And I stand firm -- Tao One remains one of the best restaurants on the Mainline. (Just not for Chinese.) read more

The pad thai was the most bland, rubbery pad thai I've ever had. One bite and I just couldn't fathom eating it. I was here for lunch on Friday 6.12 with 4 friends. I told them that we would be a party of 5 and they went right to work moving tables and chairs to accommodate us. We all ordered sushi and a large bowl of seaweed salad. All of the sushi was fresh and the flavor combinations are excellent. We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant on Valentine's Day! Becky, the host/server was so helpful and friendly (and funny). The food and atmosphere were perfect! The background music was just right. Every woman was given a rose, even those who came in for take-out if they wanted one. The owner Dan was very personable and warm. This little restaurant is nice. It's a bit sterile atmosphere dining in, and has a stream of Door Dash types picking up. The servers are extremely friendly and attentive. The dumplings were as expected with a tasty dipping sauce reminiscent of soy and hoisin. The hot and sour soup, is a great benchmark to me. If this soup is really good, it portends favorably for the location. Here it is good. Chock full of veggies and tofu the broth has heat but just a touch thinner than I like. The Tom Ka soup is also tasty, some heat, but looking for stronger coconut flavor. The veggies are very fresh. The mixed sushi and sashimi stands out. Great mix, rice stayed formed. Perfect from start to finish. I called the day before our visit just to confirm hours etc as we are a distance away. The gentleman I spoke to was very friendly and informative. Today we arrived for dinner and found a lovely cozy space. It was clean and comfortable. There was soft music playing, which is a nice touch. We were warmly welcomed by Becky. She is the consummate server. Very friendly and accommodating. She took wonderful care of us. The food offerings are diverse and delicious. We enjoyed the hot and sour soup and spicy tuna roll for starters. We both ordered the sizzling seafood combo. Beautiful presentation of fresh abundant seafood and perfectly cooked veggies in a light sauce. With aromatic jasmine rice. We brought a bottle of wine and ended with a steaming pot of jasmine tea and a TREAT of a fried banana. Delish! Thank you for a lovely afternoon. We hope to return. read more

We have been going to this place regularly for the best 3 years now. Sushi always remains fresh. They constantly come up with new dishes and the service is always impeccable. I know the cybertruck with ads have turned off one reviewer but it is an attention grabber! General Tso's chicken is one of the best dishes here. Tuna or Salmon tartar is also fantastic. read more

Dined here for lunch after reading all of the great reviews. And I must say we were not disappointed. There were 3 specials featured on a board in the entryway and they all looked delicious. We started with 2 and decided to also order the third. They are listed in the photos. The restaurant was very clean and the service was outstanding. Athough this is an improvement over the last couple places to occupy this location, I'm going elsewhere for my chicken teriyaki. I do not eat a lot of Asian food, I generally order teriyaki or hibachi. I had the teriyaki here and it was ok but nothing to rave about. I found the sauce a little weak, it was lighter In color and not as flavorful as I like it, but the chicken was good and cooked fresh. The ginger dressing was decent too, but again, not my favorite in the area. YMMV, as I don't eat a lot of Asian food, but I'd like to hear what other people are eating and enjoying here as the current reviews are rather vague. read more

Did not pack the rice. Takeout so bad,I threw it out. Soup with no flavor and raw onion. Massaman curry had no resemblance to that dish. Watery flavorless sauce sprinkled with some red pepper. I tried this place based on other good reviews. Maybe lunch is not their strong point. read more

Loved this place! Very cute dining area, the staff were super kind and attentive and the food was delish! Oh, and the potions were very generous as well. A truly rare combo to find! When I moved to this area three years ago, I tried every sushi restaurant in the region. Tao One opened about a year later, and I have not been to any other sushi restaurants since. Their sushi is fresh and delicious, their attitude, and service puts the customers first, and the space is small but charming. The rest of the menu is also quite good but I always end up enjoying the sushi because it is just so delicious. read more

We ordered a bit more than we should have, but got two Signature Rolls, a small Tofu Lo Mein, Sesame Chicken with Fried Rice, Crab Rangoons, Spring Rolls, and Seared Pork Gyoza. First off, love that they put the fried foods on doilies in the to-go containers. Small detail but we found it charming and useful. The food itself was generous in portion size, and every single item was delicious. Rangoons had my preferred balance of cheese to crab, everything was still crispy where it needed to be, and very tasty. We definitely want to order from there again, but think pickup or sit-down would be preferential. Nothing against DoorDash, but this food deserves a more immediate tasting. I LOVE Tao One! My 7yo daughter and I dine there every single week because of the exceptionally fresh sushi and consistently high quality dishes. Our favorite part is that we are always treated like family. The owner, Dan, and his fantastic staff go above and beyond to ensure every dining experience is special. Whether Dan is patiently helping my daughter with her chopstick skills, having us try a special new fish that just arrived, or handing out flowers to all the moms for Mother's Day, the pride he takes in Tao One is evident...and with all the happy customers floating in and out every day, there is certainly a lot to be proud of! I'm only 20 years old but this has been by far one of the best Asian dining experiences I've had in my life. My first time going there I was a bit nervous since there have been a few not-that-great places there in the past. I've never dined in at the restaurant, but I consistently order from there once a week when I'm home from college. There's only one server anytime I'm in there, and he's absolutely amazing, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. The food tastes amazing and is extraordinarily high quality for being so cheap, and I would absolutely consider this an upscale Chinese restaurant, not the kind of greasy Chinese/Asian I'm used to, but it's absolutely a place to visit. It's small, but still extraordinarily incredible experience, that I would suggest to anyone living in the area. read more
