Normally you have to ask for fatty broth here in the USA, because Vietnamese people think we will complain if there is a little sheen on top, but thankfully here it comes nice and rich and it doesnt even appear oily. I got the mixed meat pho, and while chicken is fine, it usually does taste a little blander. Beyond that this place is killing it. As a former line cook and sushi chef I can definitely confirm the quality of their sushi and chinese entrees just based on what I saw being served. Went here on a double date to try out a new local place. Staff was friendly and our server was super knowledgeable about the menu and offered us recommendations. We had the appetizer sampler, which was absolutely phenomenal. Everything was fresh and crispy and packed with flavor. Our entrees were good, but not quite as good as the appetizers. They lacked flavor a bit, but portions sizes are huge! Took home plenty of leftovers. Inside the restaurant is nice, simply done, and clean. A couple years ago the food was good, the service good, and the price reasonable. Now the price is higher, the service lacking, and the food mediocre. New cooks, staff and management have turned this once great restaurant that we regularly visited into one we avoid now. Last time we ate here we ordered fried rice, had to ask the server if they still served it because it was no longer on the menu then when we got the bill it was nearly 3x what we paid for it last time. The restaurant wasn't busy but we were seated then seemingly forgotten (Waited 5 min to get a cup of water then 10 min to place our order, and had empty drinks for nearly the entire time with no server around). This is one of my favorite places. We usually order seaweed salad, egg rolls, pad Thai, pho dac biet. We have had other dishes here but this seems to be our go to. What Bamboo House has over other places is that they are consistent. Every time I order Pho Dac Biet, it tastes the same. I know what to expect every visit. They are consistently great. The Mesquite/Garland area has no shortage of good Asian restaurants. Encluded the Bamboo House among them. I don't think you can go wrong dining at the Bamboo House. The food and service were excellent. The prices were reasonable. The biggest accolade I can give the Bamboo House is that we'll return and try some of the other enticing menu items. I have to address Justina T.'s review. While nobody wants to see cockroaches, waterbugs, and spiders at a dining establishment, these critters will appear in the cleanest of restaurants. It is an endless battle, and eventually, the bugs will win. I don't think going from a 5 to a 1 over a bug should ruin a good meal. If I found one in my food, that would be a different story. Anywho; Give the place a shot. If you see bugs, then let us know. Maybe I'll reconsider. I go to Bonham often, but this was my first time trying Bamboo House and what a delightful experience it was! I had the Kung Pao chicken. The vegetables were crisp with a nice crunch, the chicken was tender, and the brown sauce was just the right amount of spicy. We were in Paris for the wife's birthday and were looking for something different for lunch and closer than Dallas. We decided that Bamboo House looked like the correct choice based on pictures and reviews. We started with the spring rolls which were impressively fresh. Next we ordered the Ahi Tower and the Yin Yang roll. My wife and I agreed that this was some of the best sushi we have ever eaten. I am still stunned. Then finally the Pad Thai. The ingredients once again looked and tasted exceptionally fresh. We shared so I would have ordered extra spicy but they have a really good chili paste that allowed me to heat it up nicely.
