    Steak fingers

Nice Bonham option for home cooking-style food. Good menu options and friendly service. We had the steak fingers with potatoes and gravy with beans.

    Peanut butter pie

Great food. We were impressed. The Greek Salad was awesome and the peanut butter pie was so rich and I couldn't eat it all. We will go back on our next trip to Bonham.

Juniper Kitchen Location: 110 E Russell Ave, Bonham, TX 75418 Hours of Operation Monday - Thursday: 11AM-8PM Friday - Saturday: 11AM-9PM (Closed Sunday) Nestled in the heart of Bonham, in the familiar building that once housed a previous eating establishment, Juniper Kitchen brings a fresh identity and an entirely new experience to the space. It's important to note there is no connection between Juniper Kitchen and the former restaurant; Juniper is an independent endeavor, wholly owned and operated by Stacy Hilliard, the longtime owner of Juniper Cake Company. After 15 years of creating wedding cakes and baked goods, Stacy has now combined her baking expertise with a full-service scratch kitchen -- and it shows. Arriving just 40 minutes before closing, I intentionally chose a later visit to evaluate how the restaurant holds up during what is often the most challenging part of a restaurant's day. Service and food quality should remain consistent from open to close, and Juniper Kitchen lived up to the expectation. Upon entry, I was warmly greeted and promptly seated by Hannah, who was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. When asked for menu recommendations, she highlighted several top sellers, including the Chicken Fried Steak, Smothered Steak, Fried Bologna Sandwich, and the BLT -- all staples of comforting Southern cuisine. Speaking with Stacy, one takeaway she hopes every guest leaves with is the feeling that they've just come from their grandmother's house after a comforting family dinner. It's not just about the food -- it's about creating a sense of home, connection, and the simple joy of sharing a meal with loved ones. Juniper Kitchen brings a lot of atmosphere, heart, and vision to the space. It's a warm, nostalgic place where many guests will likely feel right at home. The space is cozy and familiar -- like stepping into a family gathering filled with comfort food, laughter, and good conversation. While every diner's experience is personal, the atmosphere invites a sense of belonging that's hard to replicate. As a scratch kitchen, nearly everything at Juniper is prepared fresh, by hand, and from scratch each day. With the exception of a few items, such as mozzarella sticks and fried pickles, every dish reflects a commitment to homemade quality -- a rare and commendable standard today. Food is prepared in smaller batches -- and if needed, new batches are made multiple times a day to ensure everything stays fresh and up to scratch. This attention to quality and detail is one of the many ways Juniper Kitchen will maintains its high standards Alongside a thoughtfully crafted core menu, Juniper offers daily specials (such as Chicken Spaghetti and Tomato Bisque with Grilled Cheese on my visit) posted to their Facebook page. They also feature a weekly rotating special, giving regular guests something new and hearty to enjoy. Other comforting options include classics like Chicken Pot Pie and Shepherd's Pie, as well as Family Meal Packs, thoughtfully designed to offer a hearty, shareable meal with generous sides and housemade rolls. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with two sides: macaroni and cheese, and loaded baked potato casserole. Chicken Fried Steak: A true standout. The steak was substantial, hand-battered, and perfectly fried. The crust was golden and crisp without being greasy, well-seasoned, and topped with a creamy white gravy. This dish captured the heart of homemade comfort food. Macaroni and Cheese: The cheese sauce was flavorful and creamy; however, the small elbow noodles left something to be desired. After taking two bites, it was clear the texture would have been improved with a larger pasta shape. Overall, the mac and cheese was subpar. Loaded Baked Potato Casserole: Based on appearance alone, it was obvious this dish was not fresh. This should have been caught by either the kitchen staff or server off appearance before reaching the table and I should have been advised that this was not available Homemade Yeast Roll: The rolls were soft, gooey, and wonderfully fresh -- reminding me of rich, creamy rolls made from beloved family recipes. Tender, slightly sweet, and truly memorable, they rival a popular steakhouse's, and definitely even better. For dessert, I ordered the Fried Cheesecake -- cheesecake batter hand-rolled in an egg roll wrapper, fried, and dusted with cinnamon sugar. If you're a cheesecake fan, this is an absolute must-try. Juniper also offers a variety of other homemade desserts, so no matter your craving, you're sure to find something that hits the spot.

This charming restaurant is run by amazing people with southern hospitality and classic recipes. I wanted to go because they have fried green tomatoes, and those are hard to find. We enjoyed our meal and will go back. The cakes were also great. I'd go back for the strawberry cake alone!

Although they didn't have a bunch of reviews, the ones they did have were good - so we decided to give them a try. Walked in around noon on a Friday to an empty restaurant, that's usually not a good sign. Our server looked like she'd just rolled out of bed but at least she was there I suppose. There was also a young school aged girl sitting in a booth who was semi watching a little toddler (employees children I assume)? We had to listen to Miss Rachel sing Old McDonald & the toddler running around being loud. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special either. They had good tea, I will give them that. It's a nice place, it was clean & conveniently located downtown near other businesses - which is why I couldn't understand why they weren't busy. I guess the locals might know something I don't. We were the only ones there the entire time. I know good help is hard to find these days, so you may have to settle for what you can get, but your employees can also make or break you as well. First impressions are everything, and although we were just passing through, I don't think I'd go back.

Finally! Bonham got a good place to eat breakfast!…read more I ordered the Texas Classic breakfast and opted for bacon and biscuit with it. The bacon is a good, quality bacon and was cooked to perfection. The hash browns were cooked exactly how I like them...crispy. my eggs were cooked exactly like I ordered them. Now let's talk about that biscuit. Yes, it is worthy of its own paragraph. It is homemade, and so delicious. Yum! Hubs ordered the ham and cheese omelet with a side of fruit (he's on some new diet kick). He said it was very flavorful with lots of cheese. His fruit was very fresh. As an after thought, I ordered the sourdough toast just to try it. So good! So buttery. It is hard to choose between the toast and biscuit. Both are winners. I cannot wait to come back here for lunch or dinner! I glanced at their menu, and their prices are super reasonable. The service was super friendly and attentive. I am a suckered for rustic café decor, and this one is very charming. They have a really cool painting. I took a photo. Another after thought...hubs saw pumpkin lattes, so he ordered one to go. I am not usually a latte person, but I am an "everything pumpkin" person. Well, now I may become a latte person, too. Excellent!
