What a shocking disappointment ...I scheduled an appointment the day before. Same lady, you checked me and who scheduled the appointment. I said I want a dip for my nail and then a pedicure. I come in on Sunday and then she tries to tell me to get a gel. I said oh can you not do the dip? She says oh no I just know it's better. I said OK well then let me try the dip even though that is not what I went there for. If she is the one doing my nails, I don't want her messing up if she can't do dip. So then I said I can do my toes or my nails first you just tell me. And I asked she goes. Oh you want polish on your toes I said yes I want polish. And the same employees said Oh no you want this color-- still the gel ( she tried to coerce me into getting on my nails) and I said excuse me? I just told her you know what I scheduled this appointment and now I'm very uncomfortable. And I left. Thank God it was early enough on Sunday afternoon, where I had a chance to go to another salon. Of course I had to wait, but so be it. Totally unprofessional, and my time was wasted. I'm not gonna be sitting in a long nail appointment. All upset absolutely not. We were a walk in and they greeted us right away and saw us shortly after. The guy who did my gel did a fantastic job. Sometimes people get gel off with the tool that grinds it off and it touches the nail and hits nerves. He did suck a good job of getting the old gel off I was impressed. He got the top layer off and then applied a solution that helped get the rest off. Because I terrified of the stinging pain when they hit the nail with the tool this was perfect for me. Needed Pedicure and manicure for a party the next day. Calluses were awful and nails/cuticles too, from yard work. It was end of the day, so she stood next to ped chair and did fingernails while other girl did toes to save time. Both services were great. However, due to my own memory issues, I'd forgotten how hard I am on my hands and that I should have gotten gel polish. Nice, comfortable place. Not only did they take 40 min to seat her, but it took an additional 1 and a half hours for just a pedicure. Staff did not offer her a discount or anything for the wait. Don't waste your time. I never write negative reviews, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt but this is the worst experience I've ever had at a salon. Asked for a full set and pedicure. Short almond shape. She left my nails all different lengths, was completely rough with the drill that left my nails on fire. I cancelled my pedicure because I couldn't imagine what was going to be done with my feet. If I could leave a ZERO star fucking review I would. Whole place was a shit show, if you don't have that many people on staff to take the time to give good customer service, your quality of product better be outstanding. Entirely not the case here. It's sad when the only this that you can say was good about this place was the receptionist was friendly. Didn't tip, obviously and won't be coming back. Got a dip manicure and within 12 hours, the nails were cracking and chipping. The woman who did my nails was rushing and clearly had no interest in doing her job. She severely cut my cuticle also when buffing my nails with the Dremel machine. I emailed and called to try and rectify the problem and never got a call or email back. Have gone here many times over the last 7-10 years. Normally owner relatively nice but have seen her short with some. Have gone the last 3 times to be treated very rudely. The first 2x I gave them the benefit of that doubt. Last time she basically talked down to me about always calling now for a appt because they are busy. Someone told me that if I wanted to avoid acrylic, due to the damage it causes, and if I wanted to avoid gel, due to the burning UV rays, that I should try an SNS manicure. So I grew my nails out to the desired length and decided to stop here for my first treatment. I got a mani/pedi and the service was fantastic! They offered me water, had great massage chairs, and the woman taking care of my feet was very attentive and thorough! Okay so I used to live here years ago and this was my nail spot. I moved back to the same area so of course I come back here...y'all I wanted to love it again so much! But no, I got the sns dip (that I've been getting elsewhere)...I pick out my color and as it's being applied I say to the owner that it is so much different from the sample I chose. I keep going, again to give them a chance and along the way I said my issue again, I was told oh the sample nail fades because of the sun . I won't drag them because I know I'm upset but not once with my complaining did they offer to change the color. I went for a powder manicure on a Thursday afternoon. It wasn't busy, but my nail tech left in the middle of my manicure to wax someone. When she came back I watched her use the cuticle cutter to clean a nail polish bottle and her own hands before she used them on me...WITHOUT CLEANING THEM. I was so embarrassed I didn't even know what to say. Then at checkout I had a gift card which my nail tech did not know how to use, she eventually asked for help. Then she couldn't figure out how to scan my credit card, so I spent 10 minutes and $47 at checkout and when she finally figured it out she didn't even say thank you or goodbye she just ignored me. My wife and I were in for manicures today. My wife's fingers were cut and bled ( 2 of them). They put a bandage on them and said to come back when they heal. Then the nasty lady that sits to the right as you walked said she would take $5 off since my wife's fingers were bleeding only to find out that they take $5 off for everyone if you spend more than $40 bucks. Not a good experience and won't repeat. Many of the reviews on this shop reference the nasty lady who runs the place. There are too many options to choose from. Only reason I did't give it a 5 is because I was sitting in a room facing others and felt insecure, but that's really my own issue and not there's! I just dont like people looking at me! I got the new powder gel nails here because a friend told me they were really strong and she was right!!! Two of my nails were nearly broken halfway off so I needed something and this did the trick. No UV lights, they paint the base on like polish then dip the nail in powder and then file it smooth. Although I am barley writing my review now, I have been getting my nails done here for about 2 years and I love it! Although there is a language barrier the techs are very nice. I get my nails done about every 3 weeks with the sns dipping powder($40) by Andy. He is always happy and is a perfectionist with his work, I am always pleased with the long lasting results. My nails tend to endure a lot with washing dishes and being a keyboard warrior on my free time, so I am thrilled that my nails feel stronger then ever (I have tried fake nails, not a big fan so the sns is a real life saver). I would highly recommend making an appointment before to prevent long waits though. Best of Ahwatukee 2017 definently gets 5+ stars. read more
