We were looking for somewhere to enjoy dinner on Friday night and were craving sushi, so we decided to check out Bamboo in LoHi. When we first arrived, they said the only seating they had was at the bar or at the sushi bar, so we chose the sushi bar. All of the staff was very friendly. We were immediately greeted and asked if we had any restrictions or allergies the waitress should know of. After a few minutes, they told us they had a table outside if we wanted to move out there. I'm glad we did, because the patio was beautiful. They had misters going to keep your cool, and the landscaping gives the place a jungle oasis feel. After looking through the menu, we settled on the Full Circle and the Shrimp Tempura. The Shrimp Tempura was pretty basic, though still delicious. The shrimp was perfectly crisp and the fillings were generous. The Full Circle sounded a bit adventurous with watercress, fried green onion, and a ginger citrus dressing, and we really enjoyed it. The flavors were well balanced, and the crunchy onions really added a nice texture to the roll. We will definitely be adding this place to our restaurant rotation! read more

I came here on a Friday night to celebrate my sister's birthday. I loved the ambiance and the staff were so friendly and attentive. We ordered cocktails first- I got the Bitter Truth and my sister went with Midnight in Tokyo. The Bitter Truth has a lot of grapefruit flavored things in the drink so the flavor overall is subtle and I found the drink a bit too sweet. The Midnight in Tokyo was delicious and I wish I had ordered that instead. We were there during restaurant week so we went with what was on the restaurant week menu for our food. We started off with the sunomono salad, which was delicious and refreshing, although a very small portion. Next we were brought the unicorn roll and a 4 piece nigiri. The unicorn roll was good- I loved all the textures but at times I was hoping for a little bit more flavor. Same goes for the nigiri- it was good and I liked the subtle touches to make each piece unique, but in the end I wanted a little more flavor for each bite. We finished the meal with the black sesame brownie. Honestly this was my favorite part of the meal. The brownie was SO yummy and had the perfect texture, and the ice cream and berries were the perfect complement. Overall, we had a nice meal. My family (of 6) took me for my birthday dinner and brought a specific cake for me. We were told we couldn't eat it there unless we paid a $2.00/person fee for bringing outside food. I am completely blown away (after spending almost $500), I could not enjoy a homemade bday cake without spending an additional $12.00. Not only will we not be back, I will also not recommend this place to my international customers and colleagues in the future. The old saying of "step over a dollar to save a dime" works in this case. read more

I would give this a zero star rating if that was a choice. I had a minor allergic reaction due to the staff and management's negligence that could have turned into a life threatening reaction and their management team has stopped responding and trying to work on resolving this situation. I was told they'd resolve these issues and work their staff on resolution and contact me but they have deemed this as 'low priority' and 'not important'. At the time they did not have correct and clear allergens listed in their descriptions (nuts, a major and common allergen) and the server did not do their job to ask about allergies (I was later told by their management team). Due to them choosing to ignore this issue, I do not recommend this place at all and have been encouraging my coworkers and friends to avoid them if possible due to my experience. read more

Whenever I need a pick-me-up, am celebrating something, or am just catching up with a friend, bamboo is my go to spot. I am a large fan of their crispy rice appetizers - I've had that several times - but will admit sometimes they over-fry the rice and it can be difficult to eat. Worth a try, but I'd recommend cutting your first bite. If you order anything from their special rolls section, please make it the green machine. It's a vegetarian roll that you can add protein too (I'd recommend the salmon), and they top it in their special green sauce - which is so delicious I wish I could order a bowl of it. They have a cool space with ample seating both indoor and outdoor. If you're unable to go in person, I typically order bamboo to go and have been impressed that the quality of food is maintained so well. read more

The sushi options here were a bit more creative than I am normally used to so I went on a limb and chose Garden of Eden and Sunset. The latter was really good and packed with flavor. I thought the GOE was interesting and I was curious how the apple would factor into everything but, in the end, I didn't find it as good as I hoped it would be. The food was brought out as it was ready-- which we loved! and timed perfectly. Loved the vibe of this location as well. Now for the food. Get the spicy edamame. It was some of the absolute best I've ever had! You can't tell by the picture but there was chili oil in the bottom of the bowl and once you mixed it all together it became perfection. The avocado nigiri was exquisite as well. Okay and don't even get me started on the tempura cauliflower... like WOW. Incredible. Amazing. Give me 14 of em right now. .....now onto the things we didn't ~love~ the smashed avocado crispy rice was good! A little cold and chewy and kind of reminded me of avocado toast but not a total bust, just probably not the dish for me, no big deal! BUT the real villain of the evening was the green machine roll. Don't be fooled by the enticing description on the menu. It was foul. And I mean look at it, it looks as if my cat threw up on it. Absolutely no hate to the people who like this roll but it made us gag. It was so putrid I'm having a hard time putting it into words. I think the roll without the sauce would have actually been perfect but the sauce on top was oddly sweet and earthy but not the good kind of earthy, the kind of earthy where your dog just took a steamy hot pile of caca and then it rained. Came here for Valentine's Day and it did not disappoint! The waitress was very versed in the menu and attentive. I had come in with some recommendations so that helped me choose from their extensive menu. You MUST get one of the crispy rices, it is perfectly crunchy yet flavorful (we had the spicy tuna). Then shared two types of sashimi both recommended by the waitress which were amazing! The green machine is one of the classics and now I know why. The staff even brought a signed birthday card to the table with my birthday dessert! That sure made me smile. The server didn't check us after 15 min, so we had to grab another waitress to notified that. We had to wait another 20 min just for the egg. So my husband's burger was cold when the egg came. Moreover, the menu selection was smaller than I expected. The atmosphere is nice and clean and the waitress staff were nice. For example, we received a free dessert as a celebration treat. Went in on a Friday night with my partner. I had made a reservation earlier in the week, but was warned by the host once I came in on time that our allotted time at the table was only an hour and a half. I understood the reasoning for the heads up, but typically I feel like that's on the shorter end for a table- not closer to 2 hours? Other than that, service was great. Our server, Kate, was very attentive and consistently checked in on us. We had one hiccup in our food when it arrived with an ingredient we had asked to leave off, but after waiting for a little bit, Kate got a new one sent to us on the fly and completely comped it off our bill. Bamboo sushi was one of my favorite sushi spots when I lived in Portland; I was super excited when they opened a denver location! Sad to say it's taken me this long to finally check them out but with my husbands perceived "seafood allergy" (insert eye roll) unfortunately sushi is not often on the menu for our date nights! Given that we just had a baby and going out just isn't an option for us right now with a newborn and that I haven't had sushi in OVER NINE MONTHS when he asked what I wanted for my birthday dinner there was no question. And as a plus they had a burger for him so he had a non fish option he was excited about. I will admit it's hard to beat the actual experience of going out to a sushi restaurant and eating the fish there. I also would have probably packaged the fish separately from his hot burger and not in the same bag but all in all it was a good birthday dinner. Bamboo Sushi will now be a favorite and a go-to. How did I not know about this place?! We went with a friend who loves the place and now I know why. I had the green machine roll with albacore and OMG... I will now dream about this roll. With a delicious cilantro sauce on top, this was the star of the show! I paired it with one order of the spicy tuna crispy rice. The quality of the fish was just astounding. Two rolls (no apps) was just enough food for one person. Also, the waitress recommended a gorgeous white wine called Gewrutzraminer which I am now in love with. I did also have the Gin Soo cocktail which was the only underwhelming thing we had all night (watery, light on the alcohol). A friend ordered the miso black cod which was light, fruity, and an explosion of flavors. Beautifully done (but needs to be paired with a savory, heartier roll to make a full meal IMO). It's so nice to be able to order tempura without feeling bad after! They also had an great flourless brownie! We got the shrimp tempura for starters - I have never experienced a shrimp so buttery and soft and delicious! We got a garlic butter crab nigiri and salmon nigiri that were pretty good. Incredibly overrated. Table wasn't ready in time for our reservation and then we were pressured to sit at the bar since we'd have less time to eat at our table in the reserved time slot. Bold move. We had the Denver Restaurant Week menu. While the amuse and the green monster roll were incredible, the rest of the courses were so disappointing that they offset them. The salad was laughably bland. The cod was unnecessarily citrusy. There was even a piece of plastic wrap in my brownie, which was too dense and dry. Not worth the price. Might not be worth half the price. The location is located right in LoHi, with a very nice interier and cute outdoor patio. The vibes were great and it was perfect for a date night or dinner out with friends. We tried a variety of rolls, cocktails, and small plates and everything was delicious! We started with the Crispy Rice w/ Spicy Tuna and Cauliflower and it was the perfect start to our meal - I think those two were some of my favorite out of everything we ordered! This place was incredible! As someone with a gluten allergy most sushi places end up being boring with the gluten free choices. Well I never have to be bored with sushi again. Bamboo Sushi's whole menu besides a couple things is fully gluten free, tempura and all. We didn't get pictures of everything we had but we had 4 rolls, spicy tuna crispy rice, roasted maitake, and the sesame brownie for dessert. We can't wait to come back. The chicken appetizer is AMAZING. So tasty and crispy and delicious. Get it for sure! We also loved the Shishito peppers. Green machine roll was yummy and a good roll for someone who is new to sushi and doesn't love a fishy taste. Everything tasted fresh, the staff was friendly, and the food came out fast. It is not that the sushi is bad I would just go in with very middle of the road expectations. Bamboo serves fresh fish and very common can get anywhere rolls. The sashimi was a decent price for what you got but I would have liked more variety for an 18 piece sashimi. Much of what they served was in my opinion very safe sashimi with nothing really pushing the envelope in regards to expanding diners tastes. The rolls are tempura heavy. Almost every roll has tempura in some form or fashion and I think especially in sushi there are more creative ways to get the crunch texture than just putting tempura crunchies all over every roll. I will go back to try some more of the entrees outside of the sushi but I would say it is a reliable spot for decent sushi. Just don't go expecting the best sushi you have had in Denver. There aren't enough good ways to describe how delicious this sushi is. As a vegetarian, sushi places can often be a letdown when my only options are a plain, boring avocado roll. For some reason it doesn't seem to occur to sushi chefs that their veggie customers might also enjoy rolls with various textures and flavors. Bamboo Sushi gets it right though. With two vegetarian "signature rolls" I had an incredibly satisfying dinner. The Green Machine and Little Island were both awesome. Lots of flavor, plenty of crunch, and a little heat. I didn't even need the side of spicy mayo I ordered (habit from eating plain, boring rolls at so many other sushi places!) Aside from the awesome food, the rest of my experience was great too. I sat at the bar and chatted with the nice bartenders. The hostess was friendly and came over to check on me a couple of times too. This will definitely be a regular stop for me when I'm in Denver. Only downside is that parking was a huge pain - very hard to find street parking and I didn't come across any public parking garages when I searching for a spot. read more
