I saw, from the reviews, that to come here without a reservation, you want to come right when they open. We saw a wave of people start lining up and congregating as we were parking. Luckily, we made it in the first wave of people seated. We were offered the choice to sit inside/outside. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The drinks and food came out quickly. We ordered the sake and the sake mule. Both were good! We also got 2 pieces of nigiri from Japan and it was heavenly! Other items that piqued our interest were the tuna firecracker roll, a salmon roll, and another tuna roll. Everything tasted delicious, although I was surprised by the asparagus in my rolls. If there is lychee on the menu, I will be having it. The lychee margarita was fabulous!! It was perfect parts of sweet and tart. A nice balance I like to call its A couple of friends and I had an amazing dinner recently and our waiter was very attentive and helpful. Finally made it to Sushi Den with a friend visiting from out of town. The whole restaurant was a vibe. Our server and the service team were amazing! And the food was absolutely delectable. Their menu had everything. From sashimi to aburi, signature sushi and signature kitchen dishes, to catch-of-the-day from all over and daily shipments from Japan. We ordered plenty of food and kept the rounds going with their lychee margaritas. The service team was consistently bringing out dishes as they were made. Also my friend is allergic to fish and they were super accommodating to assure no cross contamination. The atmosphere was lively, lots of conversations going on, cheers and laughter. My friend just moved from Downtown Denver to over near this spot. Being a foodie one of my first questions is, "so what's good to eat around here?" He immediately suggested Sushi Den off Pearl as the go to spot. We had eaten at Temaki Den several times which is one of my favs when I visit. So I was all in. It did NOT dissapoint. Not only was the sushi top quality, but they had a wild selection of unique fish, and approaches to classic combos. We had some amazing Sake to pair with it. The server was outstanding and met us at our goofy level joking with us just the right amount. It's a beautiful restaurant with modern design and just casual enough where you don't feel like you have to be dressed to the 9's. Pearl street in general is very quaint and homey and walkable. If I could give this experience 10 stars, I would. We enjoyed one of the most memorable meals I've ever had and I truly can't recommend it enough. From the start, Lewis made this meal a delight and walked us through the catch of the day menu with thoughtful details. Getting to learn so much about the origin of the fish and the details behind the ingredients made the night so much more interesting and special. His recommendations were phenomenal and so good that we ended up ordering seconds of three of the items. I even ordered a yuzu gin martini on his recommendation (and I don't like gin) and that was delicious, too. We ended the night with a palisade peach tart that was the perfect sweet finish to a perfect meal. My best recommendation is to come to sushi den and order as much of the catch of the day menu as your table can eat. You won't regret it. Also, we can't say enough good things about Lewis. If you have a group including ASL users it might be helpful to ask for a four top table with a chair on each side. We forgot to ask and being at a table with two on one side and two on the opposite side made it a little uncomfortable to turn and sign. Definitely coming again. We went there for our oldest son's birthday, his and his now fiancée's engagement and my husband and my 30th wedding anniversary yesterday. The waitress was Setsuko and she was so sweet and attentive the whole time we were there. She even gave us really good desserts with the candles which made us so special! The appetizers and sushi we got were definitely good, but some of the fish was a bit too fishy for how fresh it's supposed to be, the wagyu was chewier than it should've been, and the ambience felt less warm and welcoming than other restaurants of this refinement. What we ordered: Wagyu kushiyaki - flavor and char was great, but had to chew a good amount more than you would want with wagyu. The little side of truffle mashed potatoes is amazing. Toro nigiri - on the "fresh from Japan" menu. Kinda fell flat - not bad, but didn't have much of that melt your mouth, buttery flavor. Mikan himachi nigiri - on the "fresh from Japan" menu. I celebrated my birthday at my favorite Denver restaurant, Sushi Den, and it never disappoints. The fish is unbelievably fresh, and the quality is consistently incredible. The service is phenomenal. The chefs are so friendly and helpful, and they really take the time to explain the dishes and specials. We started with the tuna flight, which was a special that night, and it was such a fun way to begin the meal. They walked us through the different types of tuna, and each one had its own distinctive flavor. All of the sashimi we ordered was incredibly fresh, delicate, and beautifully prepared. They even brought out complimentary cucumber salad and an orange dessert, which was such a nice touch. Honestly, the prices are very reasonable for the level of quality you're getting. This is always a very service oriented experience from the moment you arrive until you walk out the door, stuffed with delicious Japanese cuisine. Crispy rice with spicy tuna is delicious. All four rolls were just what we wanted. Great flavor. Freshly made. They all arrived one right after the other. The pineapple upside down cake was exceptionally good. Tangy and sweet flavors on a delicious sponge cake. $180 for two out the door. Definitely a treat for a Friday lunch but well worth it. The restaurant is huge and always full. This is not a review of Sushi Den as a whole, but instead a review of the Chef Table run by chef Yasu Kizaki. The experience truly begins with the reservation, where you are asked a series of questions from your familiarity with sushi, fish preference, appetite level, and so on. This truly is an in-depth questionnaire so that the chef Yasu could source fish from Nagahama fish market for your meal. It's an incredibly personal, curated meal. On the date of, you are led to a private room in the back, Denchu Den, which is a simple, private sushi bar for up to 4 guests. Then, Chef Yasu comes out for a truly intimate experience, one that is extremely rare to come by, even in Japan. It is truly just your party and the chef as he prepares some truly epic bite. And the menu is not set, it really depends on your personal taste, and the food continues basically until you tap out. As such, there is no set price, though typically we run up about $150-200 a person. It's a 2 hour experience during which you get to experience that Japanese hospitality with chef Yasu. We talked with him about his home, learned about his experience in Denver, and he provided some fun facts about sushi and Japanese in culture in general. I cannot praise this truly unique experience enough, and, in fact, we have been back here every single year. The cherry on top is that as you return, Chef Yasu starts to remember your preference and even past conversation. And it does not end there. Based on our conversation where I discussed my next Japan trip, Chef Yasu even took time to send us an email with his recommendations. I actually forgot to get a reso but last night made a reso for Izakaya an then called Sushi Den today to ask if I could switch to the Sushi Den side and they allowed it. Mostly bc we come so early haha. The ambiance on the sushi den side is way more my vibe than the izakaya side. We got our usual: - miso soup - hot tea - uni with quail egg (twice this time) - toro - amaebi - aburi hotate - barracuda - wild king salmon Everything above as usual was great. We also tried a few new items: - egg rolls... while really good, we likely won't order again. Only because the gyoza and lobster tempura are better. - Tsumu Buri... this was tender but bland. We ordered: Edamame Gyoza Tuna roll Hamachi jalapeño sashimi Aburi Sockeye salmon Tekka roll Spider roll (would actually not order this again) New style salmon roll Rainbow roll (loved the selection of fish and not having the California mix in the middle!!) Dessert: lemon crème brûlée and green tea ice cream The interior was very clean but lacking. Tables crammed tightly together, the granite table tops had big chips at the edges. My husband's chair was falling apart and I sat on the booth side and by the end of dinner my back was killing me. I was sunk in a hole so I had to awkwardly sit at the very front edge of the bench seat to be even remotely comfortable. Looking at other chairs around us, they were in no better shape. read more

My review is for the annual Sushi Den Rooftop Party Fundraiser, which is amazing! This once a year event is very special and was created to assist the prefecture of Japan that was ravaged by an earthquake and tsunami years ago. Now, it gives much needed funding to local agencies to support our community. Thank you to Sushi Den and Yasu-san for creating this wonderful event to give back in our community, the annual Sushi Den Rooftop Party Fundraiser! This is my 3rd year to be a part of it. It's a high energy evening of incredible culinary delights produced by the 30 chefs flown in from Japan with a live band, sake and spirits from various regions of Japan, and usually unbelievable weather. My favorite thing is getting to work with the chefs and to welcome them to the U.S. for this event. They are so excited and fun to meet! It takes a big team of volunteers to make it all work and I was proud to be part of Yasu-san's "fixer" team to oversee operations. Supporting We Don't Waste, Sushi Den raised money for the organization to help local food banks while reducing culinary/restaurant waste, getting perfectly good food in the hands of those who need it most. Second visit to Sushi Den and I really enjoyed it. This time I mostly stuck to nigiri. Osaka press box sushi - amazing. I wish they'd offer more varieties of these Maikan Hamachi and Maikan Tai - these both had orange zest, and were incredible New Zealand King Salmon - Incredible, this is always amazing Kani crab leg - really nice, delicious Uni - Nice subtle flavor, but I couldn't handle the texture. My guess is for people who like Uni that it is great but I think maybe it's not for me Bonito - this was fine but not amazing Buri - incredible and light When we ordered, they asked if it was ok to have wasabi in the nigiri, and we said yes, because it's never bothered me before. However I would say, a lot of these fish are so light and smooth, the wasabi did feel a little overwhelming. Food: A solid spot in the Denver area to get sushi. The fish quality is good for imported fish, but would not be considered superb against fish that had a shorter transit time. Specifically the Negitoro and King Salmon were okay, but the soft shell crab roll and yellow tail were delicious. Service: Absolutely stellar service in their part! Our chef also did an amazing job keeping an eye on our eating pace and serving us when he knew we were ready similar to an Omakase experience. Located at a busy part of downtown Denver, we decided to valet since Yelpers said parking is a hassle. Front was minimalist with a huge front door and discrete sign imprinted on concrete wall. Inside was vibrant and hustling. Sushi bar on one side, next to the bar bar. The place is a lot larger than it appears from the outside since it runs deep. The House Salad and Rolls were just okay, nothing to write home about. Almost wished they did something to spruce things up and make it a little special. Their specialty is how fresh and tasty their fish is. That Toro, Salmon, and Hamachi were all delicious, so fresh and tasty. Their Sashimi is all amazing. This would be a great place to do a Omakase with a focus on their fresh fish. Our server Shane was friendly enough but kept talking to us like we know nothing about Japanese cuisine. Maybe he should first gauge our knowledge level before he spouts basic information that we prolly understand better than he. He did mess up a couple times though, he gave our Sashimi order to the wrong table. We were sitting there waiting for a LONG time, and even stopped a different server to ask. Finally he shows up and apologized profusely, explaining the situation. We ended up waiting some more before finally getting our last dish, the Sashimi dish, showed up. I have been coming to sushi den since I was little, so it holds a special place in my heart. They have the best quality seafood and I am blown away every single time I come and try something new. I always make sure to order the BF toro because it's like butter, the uni is always so fresh, and if they have barracuda we get it as well! The hype is real! Made a reservation a few weeks in advance just for a weekend dinner slot. Arrived and was seated quickly and on time. Our server was super friendly and had amazing recommendations for us (e.g., when to order with soy paper). He was super friendly. We got a whole feast of items! We tried mostly sushi and raw fish items and strayed away from any cooked entrees because we just love raw fish. The uni, scallop, and king crab were some of our favorite pieces. We aren't even unique fans but figured we should try it here and it didn't disappoint. The seared tuna and salmon were highlights. Even the basics, like maguro, was amazing. For dessert we got the tiramisu and cheesecake, which i would recommend the cheesecake. Pro tip, ask for real wasabi. It's way more expensive but it's a fantastic experience to try real wasabi. A good option for sushi in the Denver area. It was highly recommended to us and it seemed popular based on the line when it first opened. We were able to get seated at the sushi bar right when they opened for dinner. The restaurant is fairly large with regular tables and sushi bar seats available. The quality of the fish was decent, but some of the pieces of sashimi were on the more tough side. The chirashi bowl was plated well and had a good variety of fish in it. The seasoning of the rice was very minimal and was missing some of the flavor but was still cooked well. The nigiri that we ordered didn't have the best flavor and there was a lot of rice for the amount of fish that they gave. The spider roll was the best dish out of everything that we ordered. It was executed well, the plating was dynamic, and they were very generous with the amount of soft shell crab. They were very kind at the end and gave us some cut oranges as a small dessert at the end of our meal. read more

Enjoyed birthday dinner at Sushi Den! Location is perfect, in the beautiful Pearl Street. The dress code is smart casual. Our appointment was at 8:45 PM but we reached the location around 7 PM as our prior appointments ended early. The hostess was accommodating and put us on a waitlist with expected wait if 30-45 min. We were happy to walk around Pearl Street. We were delighted on receiving notification that our table is ready within 15 min. The first impression inside is of a busy but spacious casual dining restaurant. The waiter was exceptional and took great care of us. Brought us a surprise Lychee ice cream with candle along with our dessert to celebrate the birthday. Hibiscus Mule was delicious and paired well with the appetizers. We particularly enjoyed Gyoza, it had a good balance of crisp and flavor.
