I'm surprised by some of the negative reviews, to be honest. I haven't been to the actual location, but Bamboo Thai is one of my go-to places when I'm craving Thai delivery. So far, all the dishes I've tried have been great. I've had the Pad See Ewe, which I thought was flavorful and the portions are pretty standard/what you'd except. I've also ordered the green curry, which I loved. The last time I ordered from them, I got the pineapple fried rice with tofu. I really like the way they prep the tofu (I believe it's fried so it has a good consistency). For apps, I love the fresh spring rolls and the crab rangoons. Deliveries are always on time and the food arrives hot. So far, I've never had an issue with orders being incorrect or late. Recommend! read more

We ordered papaya salad, edamame, coconut soup, chicken pad Thai, chicken pad see ew, chicken red curry, and chicken stir fry in a basil sauce. The pad Thai was really bland, the edamame just didn't taste that fresh, and the papaya salad tasted weird in comparison to others I've had. I did enjoy the chicken stir fry with basil sauce, and the coconut soup. Both of those dishes had a lot of flavor and I would order them again. A good place in the Brighton area to get your fix for thai food! Came here mid-afternoon when it was pretty empty with a friend and ordered the Sriracha seafood plate. I switched out the rice for udon for an extra $1. They definitely didn't skimp on the seafood and it was a perfect amount for lunch. It had a good Sriracha flavor, but wasn't spicy. Absolutely delicious Thai Food!! Now this place is pretty Americanized, so if you are looking for an authentic Thai cuisine...this is NOT your spot. Regardless...the food is still pretty awesome. The ambiance is pleasant. They have a huge fish tank in the middle with a neat lion fish, along with several other fish. Appetizers: The Asian vegetable dumplings can be ordered steamed or pan fried. They are fresh and worth checking out, just not very satisfying. Entrees: The spicy basil fried rice is actually SPICY. They used lots and lots of garlic, along with some basil, onions, jalapeno & thai chili pepper. This is a signature dish which I order at every Thai restaurant I dine at, and I must say this is some of the best rice in the Boston area. I rate it a 4 out of 5 stars and I am a pretty harsh Thai critic. The kao krapao (spicy basil) with ground chicken is pretty good. It is stir fried with garlic, thai bird chili, jalapeno peppers and basil leaves over white rice topped with a fried egg. I would give this a 3.5 out of 5 stars. I plan on visiting Bamboo Restaurant very soon again for the amazing spicy basil friend rice! VERY USEFUL Parking tip: Parking in the area is nearly impossible. If you stop in the restaurant first, you can pick up a pass to park in the whole foods parking lot. One of the nearest Thai restaurants to my apartment, I have been here several times when I do not want to venture too far from my neighborhood. I have mostly ordered take away for dinner but quite recently, I have started coming here for lunch. I think you can get more value out of the dishes by coming here for lunch. The first couple times I ordered take away, I usually got the Chicken Satay, with Pad Thai. I think the Chicken Satay is a great choice for an appetizer. The chicken is not too moist but definitely not too dry. The sauces they provide make the meaty and flavorful chicken much more tastier. As for the Pad Thai, I believe they are fairly generous with the noodle portions. The noodles have been consistently good, loved the peanut flavor and the scallions inside. The chicken and the shrimp were decently good, but the only improvements I can suggest are that they should put some more shrimp and make the chicken a little less dry and more meatier. As for other noodle dishes, I was able to eat the Drunken Noodle dish, and I thought it was fairly tasty, with a little spice in the flavor. They are also fairly generous with the portions of that dish as well. As for rice dishes, I had the Beef Fried Rice, and I thought the beef tasted a little bland and lacked a little flavor, but the vegetables inside were fairly good, and the portions have been generous. Every time I got this dish, my stomach was really full after eating it. Another dish I recently had was the Tamarind Crispy Duck. One major disappointment I found was that they gave more vegetables than duck meat. Although they were really generous with the vegetables, I think they should provide some more duck meat to balance out the vegetables. Despite the disappointment, I thought the vegetables were freshly cooked and tasty. The duck meat was pretty tasty and had a nice crisp. As for service, it was decently good. The server was really nice. As for prices, the reason why I said that you can get more value of the dishes if you eat here for lunch, is mainly because the dinner entrees cost a few dollars more. For example, the Tamarind Crispy Duck is $14.95 but if you order it for lunch, it's $8.95. Interior has a nice and cosy atmosphere. Overall, while this place is not high on my recommendations for great Thai food, I believe this place can do a really good job, and it's a good choice for some decent Pad Thai or Drunken Noodles, and not a bad choice for some decently good rice dishes. read more

This place has to get 5-stars for their noodles. The place has a calming ambiance as well-- they have a variety of booths and window seats. Before we even got the food we ordered, the server surprised us with a fried wonton/dressing aperitif: sweet, crunchy, textural, glorious. For an actual app, we got the Vietnamese-style spring rolls - typical translucent rice paper with vermicilli and veggies inside made for an awesome, refreshing app. We split the Pad Thai with crispy chicken and also the regular (chicken and shrimp) Pad Thai. Both versions arrived with generous portions of noodles and protein. Service was prompt; the server was attentive to our food and drink refills. We got in and out of there satisfied in efficient time. If someone asked me for a Thai suggestion in Boston, I would totally suggest they drive to this place - absolutely worth it IMHO. read more

I ordered delivery from Bamboo Thai for dinner one evening. I was in the middle of unpacking and didn't feel like stopping my rhythm to go get a bite to eat (I don't have groceries yet). So when I saw the good reviews and that Bamboo Thai delivered, I was sold. They have a minimum delivery purchase of $15. I placed my order for some mushroom tofu soup (miso soup) and pad Thai and kept right on unpacking. The food was delivered fast! They estimated 45-60 minutes but it was there about 30 minutes later. Right to my door! Yay! And the best part, the food was still hot. The soup and pad Thai smelled and tasted like they had just come out of the kitchen at Bamboo Thai. The broth of the soup had great depth and the pad Thai was some of the best I've had in Boston. This is a solid option for Thai food around Brighton/Brookline. I've ordered from here a few times now, and every time the food has arrived piping hot within 20 minutes of placing my order, which is nothing short of amazing. I have stuck mostly to my basics here, which is to say that I generally order Pad Thai and some kind of app. The Pad Thai is weirdly pale-colored and tastes a bit egg-ier than other places, but overall it's very good -- full of fresh veggies and piping hot chicken and shrimp. For apps, I would recommend the Krathong Thong. It comes with each of the ingredients separated to keep them fresh, and you get to assemble it with as much of each as you like -- fun and really delicious little dish. I am docking one star because Bamboo Thai is a bit pricier than other places in the area, but to be fair, their delivery is lightning-fast, the portions are more than generous, and the food is reliably good. Since the beginning we came in and the waiter was really nice with us and the place really comfortable, then when we ask for a Coke they made a flower with the paper of the straw! Really nice touch! This is my favorite Thai restaurant around the Boston area. The ambiance is great with nice decorations and artsy paintings. The food is also fantastic. Bamboo is the best quck Thai food you'll get in Boston. Try for takeout, dine-in, or delivery (though be prepared to wait a bit for the delivery). The decor in the restaurant is simple but it is situated in a nice area of Brighton near the corner of Washington St. and Commonwealth Ave (near Washington St. T stop on the Green B line). If you are driving you can get a Parking Permit for the nearby Whole Foods Market by dropping off a credit card or something which is really nice. The Pad Thai, which can be so bland and boring and bad at other Thai places is great at Bamboo. Also try the spring rolls, which are refreshing soft rolls filled with shrimp and vegetables are wonderful. They have a vegetarian version as well. The curries are a great dish as well, where you pick your sauce and meat (or tofu/veggies). The service is really quick when dining-in and the takeout is ready really quick. Everything is fresh and everyone is friendly. Dining on the street side in one of the window tables for two can be actually quite romantic. Expect to see an eclectic crowd -- college students, working professionals, families, etc. read more

This place is amazing; I came from Chicago where high-end cuisine is cheap and everywhere, BUT I lucked out that I moved within blocks of the best Thai place in Boston. Truth be told - there are many good Thai places in Brighton but Bamboo exceeds on all levels. Fried rice - check; pad thai - of course; rice plate - check; vegetable rolls - check, custom dishes - no problem. In addition, the delivery IS FAST and AMAZING with super high spirits. Once I moved a tiny bit from Bamboo I still needed their rice and Pad Thai - KRIS was always WAY ahead of the time that chownow said (this can and will vary on location and time of day so I don't want to claim they'll be at your door in 5 min). But Kris was SUPER FAST and the nicest person on delivery! I would buy any food he hands me! Hands down - this restaurant alone made me realize that Boston is a world-class cuisine. WOW! Amazing food for such an unassuming restaurant in an unassuming location. We came here on a LivingSocial deal, but we're definitely coming back. We started off with thai iced tea (they even ripped the paper wrapping off our straw and made it into a flower on top of the straw. It was adorable.). I'm glad we didn't get appetizers since they gave us this mango salsa on the house. The mango salsa was great -- subtly spicy but sweet as well. I got the crispy tamarind duck and it was perfect -- again, they really put in time to make the enormous dish look presentable (they cut some cute shapes out of the radishes). The duck was crispy, fatty, and well seasoned. My friend got the panang duck, which was a little spicy (though far from crazy spicy like some of their other dishes sounded), but also delicious. Great place for the value. It's definitely homely looking -- if you're looking for a hipper environment but worse food, head to Brown Sugar Cafe near Packard's Corner.
