Clockwise: chicken adobo bowl (large), spicy chicken karahi bowl (regular), and side of eggplant zaalouk
    Alyanna T.

My partner and I got the chicken adobo bowl (large), spicy chicken karahi bowl (regular), and side of eggplant zaalouk - TASTE: 5/5 - should've guessed from the Flavor Boom name, but definitely more flavor than I expected! I'm Filipino and the chicken adobo tasted authentic, and the rice soaked up its sauce nicely too. The chicken karahi was actually spicy, and the eggplant was wonderful w its tomato-y sauce TEXTURE: 4/5 - tender meat, crisp green beans, and enjoyed the chickpeas in the eggplant too PRICE: 4/5 - total came to $37, very reasonable SERVING SIZE: 4/5 - wish there was more protein and less rice. The size of the eggplant side was satisfying though SERVICE: 4/5 - twas quiet inside when we walked in at 5pm on a Saturday. Ordered at the self-service screen and the single employee there plated our food ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 - fast casual space w all barstool seating PARKING: 4/5 - got a metered street spot right on Centre St

Not bad very afforadable for first time customers as you get 25% off. The food could use a little salt but otherwise not horrible. (Also If you LOVE meat they do not hold back on those portions)

Food is very good and a reasonable price. Very clean place, good lighting. The food came out quick.

Great spot! The food was fresh and flavorful, and the staff were super friendly. I'll definitely be coming back.

Overall: 4.5/5 We visited on a Saturday 5pm and were quickly greeted by lovely staff. I came as part of the Yelp Elite deal. Service: 5/5 Food: - Beef Rendang (4/5): as an Indonesian, I have high standards for this classic dish. Flavor Boom did an excellent job melding the savory flavors, complemented by the soft sweet potato bites. I only wish the dish had a bit more five spice seasoning and pepper. the yellow chili sauce was a great addition. - Tiramisu (4/5): delicious, medium is perfectly sized; wished for a bit more depth of flavor, but this is from a self-proclaimed tiramisu snob

    The Supernova Shrimp Curry

The bowls just packed with flavor! I got both the black pepper pork bowl and their special supernova shrimp curry bowl and loved both to death! The shrimp curry isn't too spicy and the shrimp is cooked perfectly as well as the Nicely seasoned rice! And they did the black pepper pork so well done and both bowls had very delicious veggies. Would 100% recommend the people of Boston that hasn't tried it yet to try it!

Absolutely amazing restaurant! I first came here for a Yelp event, but I loved it so much that 3 days later, I came back! This is a fast-casual restaurant specializing in slow cooked dishes from Europe and Asia. I've tried lots of things here, and my favorite is the Beef Rendang. It's an incredibly complex, flavorful slow cooked beef stew from Indonesia, and I'd recommend this one if it's your first time here. I got the Burgundy braised beef this time, a savory and tender beef and carrot stew. The carrots and tomatoes in the dish give the beef a hint of sweetness, and I couldn't stop eating it. There's a lot of options on the menu, from spicy dishes to completely mild ones, there's beef, pork, seafood, vegetarian... definitely check this place out- there will be something for everyone!

I usually get the burgundy braised beef but this time I got the tamarind chicken which left A LOT to be desired. It was very dry with no sauce like the picture appeared to have. There was overall no real flavor as well.

nice little spot in jamaica plain. you would need to find street parking. when you walk in it is nice and cozy. you order on the tablet and the order come out quickly. i believe i got the boomin' beef and it taste similar to a vietnamese dish called "bo kho" the beef is bit salty for me and perhaps too much flavor boom. the veggies are a nice balance. i wish they had more cool drink options to offset the overpowering taste. i recalled they just had basic soda instead of specialty drinks overall worth stopping by if you are in the area. staffs were nice but i would not go out of the way for this place depending on where you are coming from

    Vegetable stew
    Diana N.

I ordered the vegetable stew and it was phenomenal. I could not believe the mix of flavors I was experiencing, but do yourself a flavour (sorry I had to do it) and get this dish. Parking can be found on the street (may need to walk a little) or there is a lot in the back. You'll order through an iPad and it does not take long at all to receive your order. You can also order ahead and pick your order up.

I came here for a Yelp event and enjoyed it more than I thought. It is a fast casual joint, where things are cooking in the slow cooker so everything was ready to go when I ordered (a major bonus for me!) There were a few tables and some bar stools to sit at and bring your food over to. The location is prime (right off center street) and there is the big parking lot right behind it. I was a little skeptical since it was Asian fusion (is it too many things to be good?) but the options were straight forward and simple. They had vegetarian and vegan options, always a plus! Finally the prices were very reasonable -10-12 for most dishes so a great option for quick easy meals.

It was filling and pretty solid. I got the Boomin Beef Rendang and it was good but could've used more flavor.

Tucked in the corner of a cozy residential neighborhood, Desfina has that laid-back vibe. There's indoor seating if you want to escape the heat and outdoor seating. It was hot as hell- but we picked a table outside anyway. The service is exactly how I like it. Warm, friendly and attentive without someone checking on you every 10 seconds. Everyone was just full of smiles and it made our dinner that much special. Instead of going for big main plates, my daughter and I went for starters. The fried calamari is a must and tasty. The batter is light and crisp and actually stays on the calamari instead of sliding off. The grilled octopus is silky- the kind that melts the second you bite into it. None of that chewiness you get from places that don't know how to make a grilled octopus. This one in Desfina, is how it's supposed to be done! A Greek salad was a given. And the grilled shrimp with lemon potatoes hit the spot too. I'll admit, I was hoping for bigger shrimp(?), but these were juicy and tasty though.

We arrived a little early and were escorted to a cozy lounge before being guided to our table, a corner spot right under the restaurant's big windows. From the moment you walk in, you can see how elegant it is, and yet it's not pretentious at all. I spotted people in sneakers and Birkenstocks alongside others who were dressed up which worked out since we'd spent the day sightseeing and were dressed a bit more casual. We started with the escargot, which was delicious, served out of the shell with toasted sourdough. The complimentary bread was also some of the best I've had and I'm not just saying that because it was free. The wine list was extensive but had something for every price range. We picked a delicious Bordeaux for just $80, which was less than I expected to pay at a restaurant of this caliber. My husband ordered the Cornish hen and I had the duck on a bed of risotto. Both were amazing, and the portions were huge. I ended up taking half my duck home which I really wasn't expecting. The duck was delicious but my husband's hen might have been just a bit better; it was so juicy. We also got a side of the horseradish mashed potatoes; divine. I went in expecting small plates and precious portions like most elevated French spots so this was a welcome surprise. We ended with the crème brûlée, it had the most perfect "glassy" top; might be the best I've had. The service was next level throughout. Can't recommend Mistral enough for a special night out in Boston.

Warm chocolate torte was so gooey inside that tasted like flavorless brownie batter. The bartender said he would put a scoop of mousse on the side since I was deciding between the two. I am disappointed, from the very start to the end my experience was quite bad. The kitchen did not allow a bread substitution for the sandwich we ordered, they did not do waffles at this location either, and when we got our food the portion sizes were very small. The salmon was very overpriced for how much they offered; $27 for a piece of salmon only a few inches across was insulting, but apparently that is just how it is served there (picture below, you can see the pieces of broccoli are almost as big as the fish!) The other dish we got was the chicken sandwich, which is cut into two halves. The first half was normal but there was basically no chicken on the second half of the sandwich, it was essentially all bread. We brought it up to a manager and they got us a new piece of chicken, which fit entirely alongside the old piece of chicken on the bun because it was so small. On top of that we had to wait around nearly half an hour after finishing and had to flag down a waiter to get our check and go. The service overall was very slow. I will never come back to this restaurant.
