Had a fantastic large group dining experience here. We Reserved tables for a birthday celebration for 12 people & Tim and his team did a great job with preparing the delicious dishes including some of the special pre-requested by us, like lobsters, uni sushi for 12 people, table decorations, and more. Uni and sushi are fresh. Thai foods flavors are on point. Peking duck is delicious. Beef dishes were tender. Noodles are yummy. So are the drinks. We came on a Sunday afternoon, they were not very busy in the shop, but to go orders were Never stopped, that take out phone has been ringing none stop which is great for the business. Parking is very limited but they do have several spots right out front which is priceless since most of the businesses in DC don't have any private parkings at all. My low rating has an inherent bias - I am not a fan of ethnic food that has been reduced to its lowest common denominator. So if you are a person who appreciates having the spice level dialed down, or prefers their vegetables mushy, you may disagree with my assessment. And if you will not mind that the food has become soggy during its transportation in black plastic coffins to your home (looking at you, sweet and sour chicken), then by all means, get take out from this establishment. But if you prefer Chinese food served straight from the wok, spicy and smoky and fresh, you would do well to eat in an actual sit-down restaurant and get your tastebuds singing. So far I have not found a better place for this than Tiger Fork in downtown DC (see my separate review). But I am still hunting, so watch this space. read more

I'm not sure why some of the reviews are as they are. I've mostly ordered takeout from here and it's always come fresh and hot (and I've ordered multiple, different items). The prices are reasonable and delivery is fast. One other thing to note -- they have lunch specials/bento box meals that are pretty hard to beat in terms of quality, freshness, and value (may only be on weekdays though). read more

they freakin didn't know my order from their Freakin menu I asked for chirashi and the lady looked at me like a freakin nutcase! the sushi is small and they hardly put any shrimp in the freakin tom Yum this baby was tom no yum. the calamari was outa a freakin microwave or somethin , the sticky rice is hard asl bruh, lets get it together here people. This Restaurant, my fiancé & I discovered and we haven't stopped going to this place when we want something filling yet taste good! We Love this restaurant! They have a nice menu and their food is so good! You can't go to wrong getting food like "Half Duck, Tamago Roll, Miso Soup, Spicy California Roll, their Broccoli & Beef & Red Dragon Roll which is very tasty & well prepared! The staff is helpful & very friendly as well. There prices are fair and the wait time is not too bad either! (Depending sometimes if their extremely busy and how much you order too! Slow clap for Bambu.... We ordered takeout from Bambu to celebrate the last shift of one of night crew nurses..and Bambu finally lived up to its reputation. The Thai spicy fried rice was superb!!! tons of shrimp, rightly spicy, and fried to perfection. The sushi was amazing...I got the Funky roll which is king crab, cucumber, and avocado..and I ordered the salmon avocado roll, but unfortunately they gave me the tuna avocado roll...which was still tasty, but not what I ordered. However, someone did not enjoy their dumplings, but everyone else seemed to overall enjoy their respective orders. Im thankful Bambu made a come back, and I hope they keep up the consistency for now on. read more

I stopped here since I drive by this spot often. The atmosphere looked cute, but we got our order to go. We ordered the broccoli chicken, salt and pepper shrimps, and several rolls (Japanese Lasagna and Spicy Crab). The broccoli chicken was the saving grace - very flavorful. The salt and pepper shrimp were disappointing. It was bland and tasted like it lacked both salt and pepper. The lasagna roll - disgusting. It was just a blob of mayo on top of a basic roll. I ordered drunken noodles and Beef Kapow with extra rice and only 1 rice came with the order. The extra rice was $2 more and charged in the receipt. The drunken noodles came with minced chicken and it was subpar compared with other Thai drunken noodles I've had. Over never had drunken noodles with minced meat. The quality is average at best. This place used to be a neighborhood favorite, but no longer. The other night we got takeout. The "clear broth" wonton soup was very dark brown and very salty (soy sauce, most likely). My avocado salad consisted of an already very overripe avocado and was not edible. Shrimp tempura were hard sticks with little taste. My son's kung pau chicken was just OK, but I noticed most of it was uneaten and went in the garbage. This is the second time the food has been substandard, so I won't be going back. Unfortunate because - as I said - it was a neighborhood favorite for many, many years. read more

Bambu knocked me off my feet with its mouthwatering pad thai goodness. As quiet as it's kept, this local gem seriously got me hooked. If you love shrimp pad thai the way I love shrimp pad thai and haven't tried Bambu... Add this spot to your summer bucket list, pronto! I feel honored to have stumbled upon such greatness and Bambu has yet to disappoint me. This is by far the best shrimp pad thai I've tasted in the region. The lump crab shoots are worth writing home about too. Bambu does it right, no cut corners and no wimpy shrimp. After years of subpar PT from other popular spots, my expectations have lowered dramatically. After Bambu spoiled me time and again with its generous portions bursting with mind boggling flavor... The King pao tofu is terrible. There is absolutely no sauce and it's very dry. I'm throwing it in the trash. It deserves no stars. Bambu you can do better. What did you do when the chef made my order, throw away the recipe book? We ate there last night for the first time and I was very pleased! The tom yum gai soup, rockin chicken, and sushi were all very good. Some might complain that the sushi portion are small, but the price was reasonable IMO. Servers were covering a lot of territory but they were impressive in speed and efficiency, so we received everything we needed without waiting. The interior is a more interesting and warm space than it appeared in the photos online. The vibe is casual neighborhood staple. Hands down the best Chinese cuisine I ever had. Got the orange chicken for lunch and it was delicious. Ate every bite. Authentically made and made with love, sweet tangy and savory. And of course the fried rice was delicious. They get a 10/10 from me. I ordered pickup and it was only 15 minutes from the time I placed my order. Very friendly and nice. When it's good, it's fantastic! But when something is not right, the staff will always want to argue about how it is not their fault. We have been coming here for years because we work down the street. Limited options mean we will always come here, but we really have to say a prayer with each order to hope for no shrimp when we say no shrimp (due to allergies) and that the order is correct. We have never, ever asked for a refund or extra food due to incorrect items, and we would just appreciate not being treated like imbeciles when the orders are wrong. Dave is almost always willing to go the extra mile and help us fix any issues, but he is about the only one, and even he can get sassy :O) read more

This place is a solid choice for casual, sit-down Asian food. There are not a lot of restaurant options in the area, so when I've visited this place it has always had a decent number of patrons. With a lot to choose from on the menu, along with some daily selections, it can be hard to decide on what to order! They have sushi with prices that are quite reasonable, along with many Asian dishes including pad see ew, pad Thai, and noodle bowls, etc. I really love their sushi, so that's typically my go-to! Anything spicy is a winner for me, and I've always enjoyed what they create. The selections of sushi include pretty basic ingredients, which works really well for me personally, as I don't like a lot of extra stuff in my sushi. I like to keep it simple, but spicy and delicious! Not to mention, the food all comes out really fast, and the prices are great all around! My friend and I thought this restaurant was barely a step about average, and that on the whole, it was pretty mediocre. First, the food was decent. I had the udon soup and the broth was a bit bland, but it still had some good flavor. Fortunately, what stands out about this place is the quantity of food you get. For just $12, my soup came with a ton of shrimp, a poached egg, and a hearty amount of udon. As for service, this place is just average speed. We dined at Bambu on MacArthur Blvd. many times over the years, and it was decent 3 stars. Today we ordered for delivery. The pad see eu noodles with chicken was inedible. First, it was too spicy even though I asked for no spice. Worse, the dish looked disgusting. The noodles were covered with tiny bits of chicken that literally looked like cat food. They have parking; only a few spaces but they're one of the few restaurants to have any at all if you're trying to avoid DC parking zones during your meal. A large, ostentatious bar and an open kitchen, ambiance is a plus. Some decent vegetarian selections, but a lot of their menu isn't. Prices not as cheap as Chen's next door, but reasonable given the neighborhood, the portions, and the overall experience. Pan Asian fare in a tastefully simple dining space. I'm usually wary of menus that span too many cuisines but have found several good dishes that I'll return for. The 3 sisters noodles is my favorite - savory wide rice noodles with basil, bell peppers, and tomatoes and your choice of meat. It is similar to my preferred style of pad kee mao, which Bambu also offers but has a thinner sauce than I'd like. The green curry is excellent as well. We've yet to try the sushi or Chinese dishes. It's "okay". Think: rushing home from work, hella tired, it's late, and I need something cheap and quick, but NOT fast food and it needs to be filling. The food is really good. They are consistent. Also, they have special rolls on the board which updated bi-weekly. I just realized they have Happy Hour mon-fri 4-6:30 pm. Cocktails only $7. Alive cockroach was on the food . No apology from anyone. BAD HYGIENE, BAD MANAGEMENT I ordered bento box and was happy with it until there was alive cockroach emerged from the box I was eating. The whole time I was eating, it was underneath my food! I went to bathroom immediately being sick. Came back and still sit there for another 30-40 mins as my friend still waited for her food. The whole time that incident happened...no apology at all! Waitress just took the box out from table, manager of the day remained sit with laptop in the front. It has been 3 weeks and still....no apology. They know how to contact me because my friend works part time there. My favorite Japanese restaurant. Period. I lived in Japan for a few years so I know what it's supposed to taste like and feel like in the restaurant. I love the atmosphere, the service, and the food. I always come here when I have errands to run in Palisades. I LOVE their hot and sour soup, their salads, gyoza (they call them dumplings--get 'em fried), and of course their sushi. I've eaten here about 20x now and always enjoy outstanding service with a smile. And the prices are very reasonable, especially when getting their bento at lunchtime.
