I used to like this restaurant. The rolls were good. As before I ordered cellophane noodles with grilled pork. Almost no vegetables, a few strands of carrots, 2 leaves of Thai basil, and grilled SPAM. I never buy Spam, and never eat it. Very disappointing. read more

The foods are so flavorful. The portions are generous. The drinks are enjoyable to sip while chatting with friends. Parking is not too bad especially in DC and after certain hours you don't have to pay. I feel safe in this area in the evening. read more

Moon Rabbit? Doi Moi? Nah, those are fanciful fusion versions of Vietnamese cuisine. Viet Chopsticks is the most accurate traditional Viet food in the District run by a Vietnamese family. Surprisingly good Bun Bo Hue. Will definitely be back to try their massive menu. read more

Food is still darn good. But please adjust your hours on Yelp. I showed up today at 9 PM and was told that the restaurant was closed even though yelp and your website advertises being open until 10 PM. I paid five dollars just to park in front of the store and then ended up having to do takeout. The young man behind the counter was not apologetic at all, and didn't explain why the hours posted or not being honored. Not great customer service. Was hoping for a new Vietnamese restaurant but this failed on first order. I ordered spicy Shanghai Noodles with shiitake mushrooms. Got home and instead I have bok choy with one shiitake and no spice and bathed in plain oil. What a letdown. read more

The restaurant's interior could use updating as it appears a bit tired and worn, as if it's glory days have passed. But the food is quite good, always fresh and well prepared. Recently they've printed brand new menus giving hope to a brighter and long overdue makeover. The pho is good, but only passable, compared to the more generous ones you may be more accustomed to, brimming with various slices of meats. But resist the default of ordering their pho. Instead, opt for their Beef Stew selection with its delicious, deeply rich beefy broth (the pho broth pales by comparison). Outstandingly tasty! Unusually extensive noodle selection. And I haven't met a noodle dish there that I haven't fully enjoyed . Banh Xeo is highly regarded and heartily recommended. The Bun (rice vermicelli) is quite good, always with fresh crisp veggies and tasty savory meats. Rice plates are similarly competent and satisfying. The service is so slow that I wanted to give this place 3 stars. However, my wife made a solid point. Would I come back to a place I rate 3 stars? Probably not. I'd come back here because the food is actually very delicious. If you're looking for a quick lunch, this isn't the place though. When I went, there were just two other small tables occupied and yet I almost walked out because it took 20 minutes to just get my order in. At one point when I needed a water refill, I could see them on the other side of the restaurant, all 3 waiters chatting at a table. So you've been warned about the service. Great food. Dine in and pickup only. With Nam Viet and some other places closed this is one of the best in D.C. The appetizers, soups, and pork dishes are perfectly done and reasonably sized. The one reason for a reduced star is that it hasn't worked well with the monopoly delivery services. When you get the wrong stuff the restaurant and the app blame each other at your loss. read more

As of today, this is my second visit, and I can't stress enough how disappointed I am. Being located near PHO 14, I had high hopes that this place would measure up, but it doesn't. That said, the service provided by Khalil was excellent--he really did his best. However, I didn't appreciate how he had to act as a go-between because the manager wouldn't address complaints directly. I tried four dishes and didn't like any of them, though I did enjoy the water. I love this food. Start with the summer rolls with peanut sauce. I also enjoy the vermicelli with any choice, pork, shrimp or veggie. The fried salt and pepper choices, squid or shrimp have never disappointed me. I'll get to the Bun Mi (sandwiches) but they have to wait for me to get through the whole menu. The service is always attentive and polite and bones for me, only two blocks away. Every cool or cold day is a Pho Day! I'm tempted to apply for work there just to learn how to prepare these foods. We were thrilled when Viet Chopsticks finally opened! We ordered the chicken over pan fried yellow noodles and the vegetarian garden rolls. The garden rolls are a great thing to eat in the summer- they're light and delicious and were served with an amazing peanut sauce. The chicken over pan fried noodles was a dish unlike any weve had before- the chicken stir fry mixture had a wonderful flavor but it's the noodles that made it. Bun Bo Hue is one of my favorite soups. Though the portion size was quite large (see my pic), and the price point wasn't awful, the broth was overly watered down, the noodles were too thin (I like thick noodles with Bun Bo Hue), and the cha lua was too soft. Still, the soup wasn't awful, just average, and nowhere near the taste/quality of the lemongrass beef pho (the closest comparison I can find in DC) at Simply Banh Mi. Based on the soup alone, as well as the service (which was great, as the server was very friendly and attentive), I would have given Viet Chopsticks between a 3 and 4 rating. Unfortunately, the banh mi sandwich I got to-go was truly awful, bringing this rating down to a 2. The sandwich bread was barely cut in half, which meant the filling only occupied about 1/3 of the bread space. The bread also was dry and nothing about the filling was interesting and seemed sloppily put together. Growing up in a half Vietnamese family, I'm pretty particular about my Vietnamese food, and I can undoubtedly say this was one of the worst banh mi sandwiches I have ever had. read more

We came for the Lion dance performance for Vietnamese New Year's. Great community treat and the kids were given li si (the red envelopes) with a nice treat. We sat down ~2p on a Saturday. I waited a while before flagging someone down to take our order. The food was very good. After we packed up our leftovers, I waited again before asking them to close us out. I should point out that there were more people working there, then there were customers sitting down.
