For one of his last meals in DC, my friend wanted to check out Siam House before he moved away. The restaurant is located conveniently outside of the Cleveland Park metro station, which was great! We grabbed dinner here last week and were seated upon arrival. There's no reservations here as it is walk-in only. SUKIYAKI - 23 +chicken My go-to is normally pad see ew, but wanted to try something different. I noticed they had a Thai-style sukiyaki which isn't commonly found in most Thai restaurants I go to. I loved that this dish contained glass noodles, a wide variety of veggies, and a good portion of chicken. However, I didn't love the sukiyaki sauce, which was savory with some acidity. The sukiyaki had great ingredients, but not my ideal flavors. My friend got the Siam House Noodle with extra spice, which i didn't bother trying. He enjoyed it though. Food: Fantastic and cozy for a winter night!! Came here before the zoo lights and ordered a vegan friendly and non-vegan and both were delicious. Service: quick and attentive for your order! The space is a bit small and does get crowded quickly so it may take a bit of time for the food to get out to you however, we waited less than 20 minutes once we sat down. Perfect for solo date or small group gatherings of less than four people! Considering the area, it is a bit tough to find parking if you are driving. We lived in this neighborhood 30 years ago and enjoyed the Indonesian restaurant that was formerly in this location. When we returned to find Siam House in its place, we gave it a try. The food was absolutely insanely good and delicious! We got here 45 mins before closing. The space is very cozy on the inside and the servers were super warm. They graciously explain upfront that the restaurant charges a 20% gratuity for every order and also remind you when you pay so you dont tip if you dont wanna. The food is amazing! We got the house noodles with chicken and the noodle soup and it was super delicious and hearty. We went 3/4 spicy and it was very good. Stopped in with a few friends for an early Saturday dinner. We just beat the rush and so glad we did. These are easily the best drunken noodles I've had in dc. Bouncy noodles, quality beef and fresh veggies had my tastebuds singing!!! Definitely pricey but worth it especially f you dine in! My friend and I decided to give this place a try after playing pool at Atomic billiards. We usually go to fresh med or spices, but wanted to try something new. I am so glad we came here. Absolutely loved it. They have authentic Thai food in their menu. The restaurant was packed which is a good sign that locals or tourists love this place. They also had lots of to-go orders. We sat outside initially but moved inside as the wind started to blow pretty hard. Service was nice but slightly on the slower end as they were packed. Totally understandable. We were not in a hurry so didn't really matter. We had ordered Thai ice tea which our server forgot to place the order. Well, for the mains we ordered moo ping which is barbecue pork with veggies and sticky rice. It was delicious. Highly recommend adding their spicy sauce. It's so good. My friend loved the chicken and shrimp dumplings with noodles. He can't handle spicy food. For dessert, we ordered mango sticky rice. They do run out of it so I suggest ordering it with your entrees. It was delicious. Mango was fresh and the sticky rice was nice and creamy. Price was nominal as well, however they do add service tax about 18%. They did not mention that. I noticed our bill was higher than the things we order. Server then brings it up that they have added 18% service tax. I tipped additional 15% on top of it which I am not happy about. I am definitely going back again but I might order take out next time. Service could have better. 4/5 mostly for service and the service tax. read more

This place was highly rated so we decided to give it a try. Honestly I like hole in the wall places. No fancy place just good food. They don't take reservations so when we arrived we had to put our names on a list and we waiter maybe 45-50 minutes for a table. Once seated the waitress (seems to be the owners daughter) had so much personality and she was able to answer all of our questions. We started with a papaya salad (tasted just like it does in Thailand). We then ordered green curry chicken, pad Thai, shrimp and broccoli in garlic sauce and vegetable fried rice. Came here for Fathers Day with my parents- we LOVED the food! The dishes were unique and there were a lot of options for vegans/vegetarians. I also appreciate that their dishes had lots of vegetables, which a lot of restaurants skimp on, and LOVE that their meat is sustainably sourced. The only reason this isn't 5 star is because of the service- the staff were very nice but they weren't prepared for such a big crowd. I'd recommend taking reservations on holidays (the restaurant currently does not do them), maybe with a cancellation penalty, and then staffing up in advance. Walked in without a reservation around 2PM on a Saturday with a group of 6 (including myself) and we got ourselves a big table. It's a good spot for a casual meal, though not everything wowed me this time around. I'm not going to lie -- I was a little startled to see a creepy crawler on the chair, but the waiter calmly scooped it up with his hands and set it free outside (I might've been a bit dramatic, lol). The staff is wonderful and the vibe is almost hole in the wall-esque. Love their story, three generations of women in their family managing the business. Some days, you'll see all 3 of them. The last couple times I've been, it's been the mom and daughter (Samantha I think) and what a lovely pair. She has great youthful energy that makes your dining experience lighthearted and enjoyable. The mom is very attentive and caring as well. They've got one of the best pad thais in the district. The spice level is a bit on the lighter side for some dishes that have the pepper sign next to them so I have to request extra spicy. Deservingly, Siam House won "Best Thai" in D.C. in 2023 by the Washington City Paper, a nod from its readers. Opened by a man named Raymond Siri in a space in Cleveland Park that used to be an Indian restaurant and then an Indonesian spot, its Raymond's daughter, grandchildren, and a few others who run Siam House. My wife and I went for a Saturday date night at 8 p.m. Here's our experience and why it's one of our favorite Thai spots in the city. 1) Food: We ordered the tofu salad, Thai fried rice with pork, pad see ew with chicken, and a coconut dessert. Everything was full of flavor and perfectly cooked, but the tofu salad we will crave. The tofu is perfectly crispy and the flavor on it is simple, yet refreshing. The pad see ew was perfect as was the dessert. Truly, everything the kitchen touches turns to gold. 2) Drink: The Thai iced tea was refreshing. They found the balance between creamy and sweet without one overpowering the other. My wife enjoyed her glass of white wine. 3) Service: It's very efficient and kind. Rather than one server, you meet many of their staff from the woman who makes the food to others. They check up on you and treat you like family. 4) Space: It's a small space, but it works! There are several tables inside with an aisle letting people come for takeout. A small bathroom with blue tiles is in the back. 5) Neighborhood: Cleveland Park is a true D.C. neighborhood with locals. There's history, many restaurants and bars, parks, and more. I came here with my friend and it was something. We sat down immediately, and someone came about 5 minutes later with menus. It took another 20 minutes to see another server and she only brought water. It took another 15 to actually put our order in. In DC I expect things to be expensive, but 4 dumplings for 10 dollars just feels insane. Didn't get those. The food was good. She got the pad Thai and I got the drunken noodles. My only problem was that the green beans in the drunken noodles were super undercooked. I know green beans can be eaten raw but it was like too raw. I dont know, it was weird. Fine place. This is one of my favorite hole in the wall spots in CP for Thai. The service is excellent and they always try to accommodate your needs. My friend and I ordered the chicken satay-- yummmm! 2 skewers each! I could eat the peanut butter based dipping sauce any time. I ordered the pad broccoli with shrimp, extra spicy with brown rice. A cute neighborhood Thai joint that serves excellent food! There is outdoor seating on a patio - but even including that area, it's very small. I would eyeball guess maybe 20 people can fit here total? I've been here twice at around 7pm and both times, we were able to get seated pretty quickly. Everyone here is very nice and made us feel welcome. I ordered the Tom Yum Soup and asked for it to be as spicy as possible - and it did not disappoint! They mean business when they say spicy, which was refreshing since so many other DC places' spicy isn't that spicy. We also got the Hoy Lai Pad Prik Pow (sauted clams) and those were excellent as well. They have a happy hour special that includes some of the Chef's specials. Both dishes were very lime/citrus forward - the flavor of the Tom Yum broth especially was very heavy in lime, more than I have experienced in Tom Yum soups I've tried elsewhere. So sad to write this but, I Really use to love it but the PRICES ARE INSANE NOW! I know they are saying "farm to table" yet not everything is on the menu and the prices and added fees that are added to the bill. I can't eat here as a single person less than $60 the fees they add also do not go to the servers. I asked! They saved its for operations. It's just so hard to justify. It's not fine dinning the ambiance and services (usually kids) don't reflect these prices. The owner is nice and Im sure she is trying to do her best but this just isn't sustainable for my budget any longer. Is the food good? Yes ...but it was always good at decent prices we are now paying $20/30 more per bill than a few years ago and the food has not changed. The portions are smaller and the services has not improved. Siam House is a really great Thai restaurant! The food was top notch. The flavors, while familiar, are executed beautifully and each has a unique nature of some kind that differentiates the dish from other Thai restaurants. Very inventive, in particular, was the Yum sausage appetizer. The piquant lime sauce with cilantro was in perfect balance to the smoky and deep flavor of the sausage; the vegetables (cucumber, red onions, lettuce & tomatoes) also added variety to the deep tastes involved and to the textures in my mouth. My main course was Heaven Pork which, don't get me wrong, was GREAT! But I was not really prepared for so much deep-fried meat. I liked it, but I do not think that I would ever order it again just out of respect for my cardiologist! Our other dishes were likewise superb! Fresh, served hot and each serving was huge! This is the sort of place to go when you are hungry!!! NOTE: the dining room is small - like you can hear all the other conversations small. We were there on a night that, according to the wait staff, was unusually busy. We waited a LONG time for our food. But, once the food came, it was perfect and the wait did not bother me too much. One reason the serving delay did not bother us too much is that the wait staff is so darn friendly and nice!!! So friendly! Almost too friendly to be in DC friendly, you know what I mean? Very easy to talk to, offering us water while we were in line to get our table, joking back & forth; it truly was a pleasant experience! Keep in mind that one reason there was such a wait is that this place is genuinely popular - why? Because the food is so darn fresh and good!!! Siam House is now our new favorite Thai restaurant.
