    Veggie Delight Roll
    Vivian R.

Clean and compact Japanese restaurant with an impressively large menu. We found everything to be well made with high quality ingredients. Our favorites are the Alaskan Roll, Dragon Roll, Spicy Crunchy Rainbow Roll, and Veggie Delight Roll -- all as tasty as they are artful. Many sushi restaurants do not put much effort into their vegetarian sushi offerings (not that I really blame them), but it's wonderful when they do! I really liked the crunchiness and texture of the veggie delight sushi. The kids gobbled up their avocado cucumber roll and chicken udon. The restaurant has a decent little patio in addition to the indoor space, but we often opt for takeout, which is always packaged carefully. If you live in the neighborhood there's free delivery within 1.5 miles

Meh. I got the veggie sushi combo and it was underwhelming. Not bad but nothing to write home about. Have had amazing veggie sushi elsewhere so was a bit disappointing. The service was great though!

Shrimp tempura udon with California roll

Got the shrimp tempura udon since I was craving udon and the actual noodle soup definitely hit the spot. However, the shrimp tempura was poorly fried and super bland. Literally had no flavor whatsoever! California roll was ok. Nothing special. This is not the place to go if you want high quality food. However, it will satisfy your immediate cravings for Japanese food! Service was good and food came out quickly. Price was also pretty cheap for all the food we got so I would give it a 3.5 stars if you factor in the price.

Avocado roll, spicy tuna roll and Mexican Roll

This was good- not great. I'm always looking for new places to try out and DoorDash was running a 20% off "Winter Wednesdays" promo with this place so I ordered. We ordered the Sashimi dinner this past Wednesday, two spicy tuna rolls, a Mexican roll and an avocado roll. The sashimi dinner was good with one weird exception, the tuna wasn't the same quality tuna usually on a sashimi platter. The maki were as excepted with one difference, the spicy tuna rolls were not the typical chopped up tuna mix. They were full chunks of tuna which were very different than the sashimi tuna. This isn't my personal preference but some may prefer it this way. Just something to note so you know what to expect- you can see it clearly in the photo. This carried over to the Mexican roll which is basically a spicy tuna roll with some crunch. Overall prices were reasonable, especially with the discount. I noticed that they have great happy hour specials that might be worth a try in-store after the pandemic.

Great deals on fresh sushi/sashimi here. I came here for lunch at noon on a Friday. It was pretty dead, but maybe that's because AU isn't in session. Service was fast and friendly. I ordered the sashimi/tempura combo meal, a great deal for only 11 dollars! The sashimi was great and fresh. I got three pieces of tuna, two of salmon, and one of flounder. All were amazing, and it came with miso soup and rice. The tempura was too fried and greasy for my tastes. My favorite part of the tempura was probably the shrimp, but I like it better when it's more lightly battered and fried. All in all, this is a great deal for lunch.

Sunset Roll is off the charts, the Double Salmon Roll is right there too. The most delicious fresh sushi for several decades.

For decades this incredible go to place has consistently delivered the most delicious and fresh sushi in DC. Their rolls are some of the most creative anywhere. This place never misses!

The food was very good and the service was excellent! We were taken to a very pretty room with good lighting and an all around very nice setting.

Mmm, we ordered delivery through a third-party app from Yosaku and LOVED the food! It was some amazing and fresh sushi, as well as other perfectly cooked side items. Between the two of us, we ordered: -Fried shrimp and veggie tempura -Sashimi Platter (the fish was extremely fresh and came in a variety of salmon, tuna, yellowtail, snapper, octopus, etc) -Spicy Tuna Crunch Roll (I was impressed with the generous portion size and how perfectly crunchy this was) -Miso Soup (this came complimentary with our food - so yum) We were very impressed with this meal! I would certainly order from there again. Even though we didn't eat it right away and it was delivered, the food was perfect. No complaints. I would love to visit the restaurant itself someday.

Service was great, my server was on point from beginning to end. Yes, the portion of fish is a very small cut, but hey for a $1, it's serves its purpose. I had 3 rounds to be satisfied & a glass of house wine, which was a nice pour for $3.50...always a good look there. I stayed with the Salmon, Tuna & Yellowtail for the most part, with trying Flounder & Inari once each & all as Sashimi. They do charge for any "extras", yet again it's Happy Hour, so go figure. All the pieces were pretty fresh tasting, so no complaints there. Over looking the menu, it's very extensive so may be back to try some other options besides the $1 specials. It became pretty busy around 6:15, not sure if it's due to the HH or just a good place to eat. Nice patio setting, the chairs could be a little sturdier, overall a nice experience for cheap sushi on an early SAT Night.

Unfortunately, every time we go, we seem to have the same waitress, and the service experience has really changed how often we come in. She consistently acts like she doesn't want to be there and seems visibly annoyed if you ask for anything. It makes you feel like you're inconveniencing her just by ordering or requesting something simple. Because of this, I've completely stopped dining in and now only order carryout. It's disappointing because the food deserves a great in-restaurant experience to match. I truly hope the owners take note, because with warmer service, this place would easily be a go-to spot again for us.

Service was efficient and the workers were friendly. The prices weren't the cheapest around, but they weren't on the higher end either. The fish was fresh and the rolls I ordered were a good balance of sauce and other ingredients. I was extremely pleased with this spot and would absolutely go back!

Raku is an Asian fusion restaurant and have some verity of Asians menus that's nice things about here. Their popular coconuts curry noodles soup is from Thai or Vietnamese coconuts curry, and not as spicy as authentic Thai or Vietnamese ones so It's easy to eat. You can choose from 3 type of noodles and different soup - curry or simple broth. It's probably better choice here than their sushi for my preference. If we just want Sushi in near Bethesda area, Sushiko in Chavy Chase is good. When we crave for Authentic sushi we just go to authentic Japanese restaurants ( some Michelin stars "Sushi Taro" in DC ) that is truly authentic quality. I also go to other one for sushi ( "Love Sushi Makoto" in DC ) I know that's not even comparable category as those restaurants offers authentic real foods by Japanese owner and chef, and ingredients are real from Japan. I know It's not fair to compare to Asian fusion restaurant like Raku or typical local sushi places that other Asian or American own the place. Raku is very reasonably priced as it should be for actual ingredients. Price stays reasonable that makes this place a popular spot too. I have to be honest their miso soup tastes no real authentic favor to me. But Raku is definitely better choice of quality foods overall compare to other Asian restaurants in Bethesda. Sushi chefs and waitresses are asian and none of them are Japanese and that is ok as most of Sushi chefs and Sushi restaurants in USA the workers are not Japanese anyways. It is actually hard to find Sushi restaurants that owned by Japanese with real Japanese chefs and waitresses and staff in USA. They sometimes says welcome "irasshai" in some Japanese greeting ( that's only used in restaurant setting ) with their wrong accent that is cute to me:) Bethesda is a cute little town and Bethesda row is just like a corner cute village with surrounded by basic restaurants and cafes, normal shops, nothing luxury really, but safer and quiet, clean little town. Neighbors enjoy to go out to restaurants including this Raku as easy to access from near suburbs housing area, so my friends does and walking distance from their houses. This restaurant set small tables very close to next seat and there's very small bar that space is limited, that's as why it's always filled up and crowded. It's uncomfortable and no privacy, I wish they make space between next seats. Except winter, they offer outside seats and dog friendly that's a bonus for dog lovers.

Off Uni which I saved for the last taste, first pieces stunk of ammonia, replacements were just bitter and off as well. These were suppose to be chef choice and he chose to serve off uni which could have easily been deteced with a sniff test. The salmon roe was also soft, runny, tasteless and off color. The remainder of the shashimi was OK but lacked the freshness one would expect for the price. Also the platter was so cluttered I could not identify what was what. Labels would be helpful. First time visit, first impressions are importent. Not the best experience I am giving an 1 star rating to draw attention for their managment and maybe fair warning to customers. I visited Raku on Thursday April 30 @7:30, Restaurant was about 3/4 full. A bit tight seasting as other's had described. Elbow to elbow almost. Typically noisy as resturantes are these days. 1. When we walked in, the receptionist / greeter had no uniform or ID badge so a bit confusing and no reception desk. Not the most welcoming hospitality. 2. Wait staff sort of dissappeared mid service or was just unattentive, they were right around the corner at the wait station. I dropped a chopstick on the floor and needed a repacement. I could not get eye contact so I had to get up and request a replacement after a few minutes. The two of us order the TOKU JO SASHIMI - (38) Chef's Choice ~ White or Multigrain Rice - $110. 3. The shashim was served an a single platter which was a bit crowded and lacked the artistry or elegance a $110 platter of shashimi shoud be presented. Many of the pieces were cut too large and chunky. I appreciate the generosity of the protions but they could / should have been sliced in half. Most of the fish tasted OK but lacked the brightness you expect from fresh cut shashimi. Maybe these platters are pre-prepared and storred in the cooler until needed. The rice served in bowls with the platter was extreemly bland to me. No flavor at all and a bit over cooked. 4. We ordeed the corn meal coated calamari as appetizer. This was adequate but lacked seasoniong and included a some what bland ambigious dipping sauce. Maybe garlic aioli. This was compped in compensation for the off uni in the sushi platter. Probabaly not going back regardless as I am not local.
