She the tells me all the accolades the female masseuse that will be working on my husbands back has. Next day, my husband arrives and ends up with Rafael. My husband said Rafael did what he could but unfortunately did not get most of his knots out. When he got home, I massaged his back and was surprised with the amount of knots he still had. It was as if he never got his deep tissue massage. I'm deeply saddened because my husband still ended up paying out of pocket (expensive massage) and he did not feel relaxed after. On top of that, my husband sends me pictures of the locker room that was under construction and said guys were going on and out while he was changing. I thanked her and told her that I was going to explore the area a little bit but will be back in about an hour or so. That's where the good experience ended. I came about 80 minutes later thinking I was just going to take a quick shower in the locker room before my wife finished her massage. There was a different person at the front desk and when I presented my ID and explained to her that the other associate told me that I could use the locker room, I was denied and she told me the other agent was wrong and told me I couldn't come in. I showed her the email confirmation from the spa and told her I wasn't lying about what her coworker told me but she once again said "sorry but she was wrong" and turned me away again. I understand that there are policies but there was no empathy or care that the fault wasn't mine that their other associate told me different and we had spent over $400 for a simple service. I finally asked to speak with a manager who then said that the first associate was wrong but she would allow me to use the locker room. 15 minutes later, my wife finished her massage and we left. We will never come back again. After our experience, I checked the Equinox SF Yelp page and saw that another person posted a similar obnoxious experience four months ago about his interaction with this same Equinox SF front desk. Everyone from the front reception desk, to the locker room attendant to Carmen were extremely pleasant and had a very inviting demeanor. You felt very comfortable in the spa environment and with the staff. The glowing performance facial was 80 minutes of bliss and relaxation. You could tell Carmen has been doing this for a long time and is a true professional. The bed was nicely contoured at all times to ensure your relaxation and comfort. The bed was heated to a level which was very comfortable. During the facial she took extra steps to make sure your eyes were covered so that when the light was on your relaxation was not distubed. She assessed your skin at the start of the session as well as took the appropriate steps to learn about your skin care routine and products. she used this information to assist her with ensuring you receive the maximum benefits of your facial. For example, I am very sensitive to pollen. When choosing different products to use during the facila she would adapt certain things to make sure any of the products which consisted of plants that she mixed with other products to make sure I did not have any sensitivity. She didn't talk to much or use my session as a social hour. She spent all 80 minutes pampering me, my face and focused on the facial. My face was truly glowing after my session was over. Without my knowledge, a purple toning product was left on my highlighted blonde hair for far too long, leaving my hair gray/purple when I left. I've since had to spend time and money trying to get my hair back to its normal color, and it's still not completely fixed. What bothers me most is that no one mentioned they were using a toner or asked if I wanted one. This should never happen without informing the client, especially on light blonde hair. I contacted the spa afterward because I was so upset. While they did refund me, it doesn't change the fact that my hair was altered during what was supposed to be a relaxing experience. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I hope this encourages the spa to communicate clearly with clients and ensure products are used appropriately so no one else has the same experience.

It was so bad I even stopped halfway and explained my dissatisfaction, still the lotion rubbing continued. When I expressed my dissatisfaction at checkout, the front desk staff simply shrugged, charged the full amount, with no attempt made to address my concerns or offer any resolution. If you're looking for legitimate therapeutic massage from licensed therapists, I strongly recommend going elsewhere. This place is not worth your time or money.
