I don't know what this is but it sure isn't empanadas. When I called to request a refund the employee admitted to it being her mistake but I would have to go back and return whatever this is. First time here and I was mind blown with the smoothie! Tasted like fresh fruit was used and not pulp like other places use. Smooth texture, not too icy, runny, and it was flavorful. I picked carnation milk with the mango smoothie and it brought me back to the smoothies I used to have in the Bronx. Chicken was made fresh and the fries also, nice and well done. I got the banana king shake and it had strawberry, banana, and passion fruit in it. Sooo good! A big plus was the parking. Went there this morning an asked for a Cuban Sandwich that should had being called something else. - Cuban Sandwiches don't have letter and tomatoes, they do have sliced pickle. - Cuban Sandwiches don't have mayo, they do have "mojo criollo". - Cuban Sandwiches don't have BBK pork in tiny pieces, they have couple of slices of roasted pork (Cuban stile) The only correct ingredient on it were the cheese and the ham. Ordered two combos (salchipapas + smoothie and arepa + smoothie) and one patacon (saves you about $1 instead of ordering everything individually) -Steak Arepa: amazing! delicious and big enough to share. Arepa was tasty and had a lot of flavor. -Pernil Patacon: plantain was nice and crispy, pernil was kind of salty but still really good! -Salchipapas: best side ever -Mango and Passionfruit Smoothies: Great way to end a meal. Terrible experience. The manager Annamarie was also very rude and disrespectful. I ordered a "Natural Juice" lemon juice. I took a sip to taste and it tasted like Minute Maid with extra sugar in crushed ice. I asked the manager (very politely) if I could exchange the juice and responded with, "I can't do that bc that's a loss to the store, and plus, you were the one that ordered it." I was stunned by how bashful and terrible her customer service skills were I just said okay and walked away. I'm so surprised a person of her caliber is a "manager." I suggest to visit The other Banana King on Madison & 21st, also the Banana King in Passaic. These locations are better and have better customer service, BY FAR. WHERE TO START I ordered my food at approximately 9:42 pm for delivery the food didn't come until a few minutes before 12 midnight! Literally almost 2 hours! When the food came the delivery driver said the total as if I haven't already paid over the phone in which I did! My bank statement to prove! So I looked at the delivery driver said thank you and closed the door. At this point he's waiting outside my house for a few minutes blowing up my friends phone thinking I didn't pay checking through things in his car then finally takes off. I've been going to banana king for years and never had a problem with what I ordered or whatever I ordered. Except recently the person who made mine and my husband's Cuban sandwich was lacking alot and it was very salty. We waited 40-45 mins just to get very salty food. Downtown location is the worst. My wife bought a "buñuelo" (chesse bread ball) and it had human hair embedded in the dough. Then she mentioned this to the manager who tried to hide this by pretending that it was a cheese strand LOL. The food quality over the years have gone down significantly. I remember when they first opened, the food was amazing. I think I had it twice a week. The shakes are still ok but the food I feel isn't what it used to be. Not sure if its because now its become a franchise but kind of disappointing. I recall a few years ago my mother ordered me a Jugo de limon (lemonade juice) and it was a white color and fresh. As if they squeezed the limes fresh and added sugar. How it should be. Well I'm currently expecting and couldn't get my mind off of the idea so I went to go purchase one.... Well the girl pulled out some kind of juice container (looked like the ones the bars use for margarita mix) and added it to my cup with ice making it lime green in color, then proceeded to add half a lime to the bottom. Absolutely disgusting! I cant even drink it because its so bitter its hurting my throat. This is not what I remember at all. Not to mention some of the sandwiches taste completely different. The Cuban especially is lacking in flavor. Also the green sauce is super watery now and leaks through your food making a mess.
