I'm not their target demographic, but it's a great store to browse. Lots of business casual clothes at somewhat decent prices. Remember that business names with "Factory" or "Outlet" in them doesn't mean bargains, it's just overstock or out-of-season apparel. You might find some good sales here but don't expect everything at 70% off. That also means less than stellar customer service, so I wouldn't expect the same level of attentiveness as their full retail stores. read more

I'm pretty happy to have a banana republic outlet in my neighborhood. Pretty discounted, sometimes over 50% then additional on the sale section. They have a pretty good selection and sell current season stuff. Great for the basics though. Solid button downs, basic pants. I always liked Banana better than the other gap brands. They tend to use higher end fabric and stitching. All the staff is friendly and helpful and it's a great centralized location. read more

I live in the area and have been to this store several times. I came in yesterday to buy some business casual pants. After trying on a few different styles, I settled on one I liked, but they only had my size in one color. The clerk was very accommodating and called the Loop store to see if they had more colors in my size. They did and put them on hold. I see a lot of comments about poor customer service in these reviews, but that hasn't been my experience at all in this location. If you want to experience abysmal customer service, visit their Factory Store location in the Loop. You'll appreciate the Lincoln Park location much more afterward. read more

This store has no parking lot so I just park my car in the front of their store at the street. Their store was a glass wall so you can see some of their products and you will be curious what's they have other products inside. When I enter some staff assisted me and greeted me. As I look at their shop they have a section of men and women. I went to the men's section. They have pants, shirt, polo, jacket, denim polo and many more. I went to the pants area. I looked first the price of it and it's a little bit expensive. But the quality of this fabric was good so for me it's worth the price. They have my size so I didn't wear it in the dressing area. I paid it in the counter and leave the store. I recommend this place for you. read more

Three words is all it takes to describe this store: poor customer service. After having some issues with items purchased online, I called the BR Factory 800 customer service line and they told me they would happily take the items back and that I could ship them, or take them to a BRF store. I elected to take them to this store since it is close to home and figured I might want to shop around while there. What a mistake...the associates and the store manager at this location could not figure out how to process the return and ultimately the store manager told me they could not accept the return of an online purchase, and did so in a very rude way. I called the 800 number again and they immediately issued me a refund, apologizing to me as the store associates and manager should have handled this in store. I'm happy with the service received by the BR corporate customer service people, but don't waste your time at this store. read more

Text tells me to drop by with Heavy Discounts (meaning 60+% off of clearance, 20% additional discount from text, additional 10% for card holders). I'm very happy to get a tailored shirt for $9, unlined heavy fabric dress pants for $35, and a feel good fabric Mustard Dress for $38.88. On a normal day with at least 40% off normal price, the prices are similar to online sales. We hate to shop retail with 10.25% sales tax (vs 6-8% online tax), but it beats the waiting and the returning especially when Shipping is expensive now (at least $5). Need to FIT pants. Ever since I have been visiting, I don't see any Cheap Fabric like J. Crew Factory. STAFF are always busy folding and eager to help (they always have to look up my account no). VENUE/STORE is neat and organized. No idle chats. None on their phones. Please ignore the silly question from Fitting Room Police: "do you need a room?". The line exist for a reason. The other reviews about poor customer service and incompetent staff are true. I believe this place to be much of a rotating door, as seasonal staff come and go frequently. I was waiting in line. A cashier, young individual with sandy blonde hair, and an attitude finished completing cashiering for a customer, he was open and instead of asking for the next guest (me, in line) he started conversing with other customers near him, rather aloof. I proceeded to him, and I told him I decided to not purchase one item. He said that I should go return it to the rack. Then after no other words from him, he said, "please insert your chip" --- no words of "your total is..." I got home later that day to realize he had not removed the security tag from clothing I'd purchased. I cannot stand incompetence and carelessness such as this. When I returned today to have it removed, a different associate was present and was really kind and apologetic. read more

I agree with the other reviewers on the lack of professionalism. When I entered the store, I asked for a mesh bag to stow my purchases. They had apparently stopped providing them, so I threw my finds--which I paid for later--into my tote. One of the clerks followed me around the store, answered a question for a caucasian white shopper, then informed me that due to policy she would have to take my bag to the front, that no one was allowed to use shopping bags of their own to store purchases. I asked her specifically was I targeted for being brown, and she denied it, insisting it was store policy. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt yet my daughter has mentioned also being followed around the store. I'm highly disappointed that I asked to play by the rules by requesting a mesh bag, then confronted and humiliated publicly for simply being a consumer. I have spent thousands at this location through the years, and have never felt so demoralized. Work on your optics, Banana. read more

The customer service at this location is unbelievable. I made a purchase here and the associate that helped me did not take off the security tags. Upon returning the following day with my receipt the manager would only offer to take $4 off the total purchase after I had wasted 2 hours returning. Do not shop here. read more

I really like the deals here but the service is really bad. Every time I come here it takes about 30 minutes to get through the line, the cashiers always look very confused and it takes them like ten minutes to do anything. Although I can see how the variety and size selection of the items could be found limited due to the store size, I still love it in this location. I've never had an issue with having no appropriate size/style and all teammates are incredibly helpful. Specifically, two weeks ago I purchased a jacket and a skirt for about $60 for jacket and $20 for skirt (I mean it was a good bargain because ticket price for the jacket alone is around $130). Then 8 days later I stopped by the store and noticed that the same jacket is on sale now and price decreased for about $30. I inquired if they do price adjustments and was told it was only within a week. I got visually upset about it and the cashier said, "you know what, you were later for only one day, and I think it would be fair if I will go ahead and make the adjustment." WHAT A CUSTOMER SERVICE! She literally made my day and needless to say that I spent those extra $30 in the store for more blouses in the same store. read more

Banana Republic is simply a charming place to shop. Incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable sales team. The clothes are sophisticated, and displayed magically. Magnificent Men's shop. Highly enjoyable shopping experience, because staff really make this experience incredibly helpful. I went into banana republic and could tell right away there were some great option here. I found a simple shirt and jeans that I can work right into my existing wardrobe. And it has a good quality materials used. And a fair price. The Customer service is amazing. Dang, looking at the other reviews on this page, some other people have had a rough time shopping at this location. I'll throw my two cents in as one of the customers who hasn't had an issue and enjoys the steep discounts you can find at this BR Factory. This past Saturday afternoon, my husband and I wandered in to see if there were any good deals on work clothes. We both walked away with a pair of pants (he got a pair of their classic chinos and I got a pair of black slacks), and we were happy to discover that both items were 50% off. I also browsed the clearance section, which was an extra 50% off the sale tag price, and found a cute dress for $10. Seriously, hard to beat those kind of prices! There was a line at checkout. We were probably 5th or 6th when we first hopped in line. But it moved relatively quickly and we were out with our finds in less than 10 minutes, so no complaints from me. Maybe it really depends what time or day of the week you show up and whether you're in a hurry, but I enjoyed the leisurely weekend shopping experience I had here. read more

I had the best customer service from this location! Brittney was the most knowledgeable and welcoming manager at the store! Her service makes her an incredible asset to the company and the store. When I needed to find a size she helped me and checked in on me when before I even needed to ask for help. Not only that but she gave me an honest answer about how I looked and helped me pick out a perfect outfit for both work and day to day activities! Their sizing is extremely inconsistent. You can try on 3 of the exact same pair of pants and they each fit differently. Also, once when I went to return some items, the associate was very rude and accused me of "wearing and tearing" the items. They still had the tags and I had never worn them. I'm surprised and disappointed. I think the staff here is just completely aloof. I was here for at least 15-20 minutes shopping and had walked past two staff members who just walked past me without a greeting, which is surprising but somewhat tolerable. As time went on, however, my hands started to get full with clothes I was going to try on. I'm looking everywhere for a staff member, but I see no one besides the people behind the checkout counter. So I head over to the fitting room to get a room started. The fitting room staff was helpful enough. I scored some great deals on a couple pieces for work. The entire store was 50-60% off. The cashier (tall male) was friendly, but the staff just seems unprofessional in general. I heard a lot of personal conversations when I was in the fitting room and by the checkout line. I guess I'm just used to great service from similar stores in the area, like Express... I only come here every once in a great while because it's a few blocks from home, the prices are great and the clothes are decent. But the service definitely needs work.... read more

Okay. So I received a call for an interview and the person who called, I forgot who it was, told me if Wednesday would work and I told her yeah and we both decided for Wednesday at 3:30pm. I get out of class at 2:40, so I was bit worried if I wasn't going to make it because my classes are in downtown, I didn't know how long it would take me to get to the store since I've never been there. So I get there early, at 3:11pm, I asked the front cashier person that I am here for an interview at 3:30pm and I asked for the manager, Nicole, she radio call Nicole and the cashier person said that she would come downstairs. I'm waiting and waiting and nothing. I'm tired, my back aches, my feet hurts, and it's getting hot since I have a sweater and jacket. I checked my watch at 3:40pm and nothing. So I decided to give her till 3:50pm and still nothing, so I decided to leave cause it was just so ridiculous. It just tends to show that she is very unprofessional and doesn't commit to the time. She was upstairs so I'm not sure what was more important when we agreed at 3:30pm on Wednesday. read more

I do not recommend this store unless you have unlimited time to stand in line and wait to check out. The first time I went in, the line was very long, and there were only two employees checking people out. Each sale seemed to be complicated with return or receipt issues, or if not, just generally slow. I didn't even bother looking around because if I found something I didn't have time to wait. I went back today (it's Christmastime), and once again there were only two cashiers. I needed several t-shirts of various colors that I could only find there, so I bit the bullet and then waited at least 20 minutes to give Banana Republic my money. The two cashiers looked overwhelmed, and one didn't seem to know how to handle a return, so that took the other cashier away to provide help. 10 people in line and no help. I will not be going back. Welcome addition to the neighborhood considering it's lacking for non-consignment closing stores. Ok selection for an ok price. The merchandise was pretty disorganized and messy but I guess that comes with the territory. No staff available to ask questions regarding sizing. My main complaint is simple. When there are 8 people waiting in line to check out- maybe staff with more than 1 person at the register. Seems simple but this problem is notorious for retail stores. I almost put my stuff on the counter and left. Waiting twenty minutes to check out is silly when there are more than enough staff to hop on registers. read more

After waiting in a line that didn't move for 15 minutes, I decided to ask one of the many employees walking around if I could put the items on hold for a few hours. You would have thought I asked the guy for his first born child!!! He literally said to me "I'm not sure how to do that." My response "ok, then I'll just give these back to you." It was about $500 worth of items that I handed back to him. His answer "ok". It pains me to go into this store. I would rather pay full price at the real banana republic than get the low prices at this factory store. Not because of the clothes, but the customer service. There are typically 8+ people working there, yet somehow there are ALWAYS long lines that take no less than 30 minutes. It's absurd. The workers always are playing around behind the counter and do not know what they are doing. Also- the handheld check out devices are less than convenient... they need real cash registers and people that know how to work them. read more
