Ahh good ol' Banc! I started coming here because my friend who lives down the street is a regular. Their truffle fries are AMAZING! with Parmesan and rosemary - I get them every time. Their Banc burger ($18) is stacked high - cajun beef burger, roasted pepper, portabella, goat cheese, bacon, quinoa onion ring, chipotle mayo, french fries (sub truffle fries for an extra $1.50). First time here with my classmates, It was 4 of us and the day was nice so we sat outside initially. Great Atmosphere outside. Inside it was very nice, decent sized bar with Chairs, very spaceous place overall. The waiters were all very nice and helpful even if the table wasn't assigned to them. This place is just "meh.." Stopped by on a random weekday. Their happy hours only have select cocktails and wines. I wasn't in the mood for wine and wanted something simple like a vodka soda which is not on the happy hour menu. My opinion would most likely have been different if I went for wine.. The food was nothing special. Tried the chicken risotto which was good but too salty for me and the avocado tuna tartare. Probably not a smart idea to order raw fish from a bar but it was definitely fishy and not too fresh. I might come back for wine during happy hour but probably not much else. read more

Great happy hour spot! Some colleagues and I went after work. I gotta say, I loved the service. Our waitress was in training and did a great job, and when she left, her trainer seamlessly took over without any disruption in service. The drinks were great and reasonably priced (I had the Bourbon thyme, highly recommended). We sat outside and the wait staff had no problems with us removing dividers from between tables and joining tables together when more of our party arrived than the original reservation number. Hands down one of the best spots on the east side for good drinks and a good meal. The inside is spacious with many seating options and the expanded outside seating on the front and side give you picnic tables to heated section during the winter to fit everyone's needs. I came to Banc Cafe a few years ago and remembered I had liked it, so I decided to try it again after a long time. I don't usually come to Murray Hill but I decided to change it up one Friday night. The food was delicious (appetizer sampler - croquettes, empanadas, chicken tenders, truffle fries). The prices are reasonable also. It wasn't too crowded and we had a nice table inside by the window. The Little Old Fashioned was quite good - a bit on the sweeter side due to the maple syrup and 3 brandied cherries, but that's not a complaint (I ordered 2!) I would give it a 0 if I could. I was with a party of 4 the Sunday of July 4th weekend. Reservation was 2:30 pm. Restaurant was empty. Waitress was not terrible, she was horrible. Repeated our orders 3x before sending them to the kitchen! All four orders came out wrong by a runner. The waitress was no where to be found once the order came out. It was a Saturday afternoon and a few friends decided to come here for a brunch. The weather was really nice, so the restaurants had all their windows open. Upon entering the place you feel like you've gone back in time to an older diner/saloon from the older days. I was definitely a fan of their interior design. And of course, the staff was quite accommodating in finding us seats that weren't the most ideal, but good enough. I ordered the California omelette which also came with homestyle potatoes and a salad. Inside the omelette was avocado, bacon, tomato, and cheddar. I thought the food was pretty good, but not amazing. I didn't feel very full after finishing my meal so I stole a bit of my friend's egg benedict with salmon which I actually enjoyed more. Banc made a great impression during my visit to NYC last weekend! Our first experience there was later in the evening-- my group stopped at Banc for drinks after a late dinner. We sat outside and used the QR menu, which was safe and convenient. The outside seating area was pretty and comfortable, which I deem to be essential qualities during these crazy COVID times. Of particular note for this visit were the goat cheese croquettes and the sweet potato fries-- absolutely delicious!! The service was quick and friendly. Definitely a great late night spot if you're looking for quality drinks and snacks. Funny enough, we had a brunch reservation here the following day. Some of the staff recognized us from the night before (in a seemingly positive way, phewf!) and were super welcoming. First off, let me just say that it's almost impossible to find an actual happy hour deal in NYC, and Banc has a great one!! Mon-Fri is $7 wine, $5/$6 beer, and $8 cocktails from 4-8pm. Sunday is half off a bottle of wine after 4pm! I have been here twice, and both times the service was good and the food great. The French onion soup is a must-try for soup lovers, and the burgers are spectacular. This time, I tried a pasta dish and thought it was excellent because rarely do I see a dish that has all my favorite things included. The restaurant is not too small and has a great vibe and atmosphere- perfect for date night or GNO! We love Banc - we have been coming here for several years. Food is excellent, cocktails equally so and the service is quick and efficient. Staff are very engaging and responsive. Food-wise, my husband particularly likes the Irish Breakfast on the Brunch menu - phenomenal. I usually have the Quinoa and Beet salad - yum. We typically sit at the bar where we can watch everything going on around us as it is a very active place.. Special call out to Teresita who is particularly awesome behind the bar. I've been to Banc a few times and always enjoyed it! The most recent time I went was for drinks on a Wednesday night. There were 10 of us and we wanted to take advantage of their excellent happy hour. They have happy hour from 4pm-8pm and on Thursdays it's 4pm-10pm. On the menu was 3 different cocktails, canned beer, wine, and beer on tap. I called ahead and made a reservation and they set up a few tables and chairs for us in the bar area. It was perfect! We also ordered some food, but it was nothing to get excited about. We ordered the sampler platter with meatballs, coconut shrimp, wings, and dumplings. Banc is a nice spot for brunch and it's not that expensive. The decor is quite swanky, I think it's in a building that used to be a bank, hence the name. I was gonna give this place a 3 because the food is just decent. It's consistent, relatively inexpensive for the area, and the wait staff are real attentive, so all those things bring it up to a 4. Ive had a bunch of the stuff here, the French toast, Irish breakfast, chicken and waffles, and California omelette, all of it good. It's not gonna blow your mind, but if you're looking for a decent meal that's not crazy expensive and overly fussy I recommend it. One thing I love here is that the water is infused with cucumber, orange, and lemon, which really is just another little thing that is really nice.
