The cat distribution system struck again while I was traveling for work, I rescued a sweet little kitty with a double eye infection from the middle of a busy road. I had not budgeted sick cat into my trip, The Vet Tech and The Vet were so understanding, and willing to work with my budget, I cannot recommend them enough! I've had the insurance on my Miw at home for awhile now, and it's well worth the money. I am Omw home with our new family edition and couldn't be more blessed! read more

Amazing staff and great all around. They work with you on the prices. You get the insurance on your pet and it greatly reduces the cost of a spay/neuter. They care about your pet. I had my pet spayed and she is ferel...so handling her is hard to do when it's not me. They knew she was.terrified and acted.accordinly to make her comfortable. Decent prices, great staff? Amazing doctors...I can't gripe about anything. They helped.ua when we were.in trouble and I can't thank them enough. If you care about your pets and want them to be treated with care take them to this clinic. You won't regret it. I am forever greatful to them and how they treated Mr. The world is a cold place and it's hard to find people that have a heart. Thus place does, they even have a fund for people that can't pay for emergencies. They have heart and that's like finding gold. I recommend this ver and tell them Molly sent you. I'm their biggest fan. I'd give them 10 stars if I could.They have Integrity, and grace...I was in trouble and needed my cat spayed immediately...my male cat was terrorizing my female...they got my female in within a day and did a Great job on her surgery. She healed quick and peace has been restored in my home. I never planned on getting a boy. I thought I got a girl and named her Abbie Cadaby. We'll 3 weeks after I got her she was.cleaning.herself and I noticed Abbie was a.boy!!!! So Abbie Cadaby became Dabbers and we were.already in love with him. So that's how we ended up in crisis. We made an appointment with the Vet to remove a cyst from our cat's head. Waited 6 hours for a call from the doctor. Doctor tried to sell us a plan for dental and other pet healthcare. Dr. Said in order to diagnose the cyst, they needed a biopsy and a blood test to determine which anesthetic to use for the biopsy. $800 for this plus the office fee. Not happy. Cat stressed for 2 days. Took my cat out of there and paid the office visit fee Just to offer a contrast, went to my old vet in my old neighborhood who I will be rating 5 stars. Knew on site what the cyst was. Did not tell me we needed or try to sell me a $1000 dental treatment, and is removing the cyst for a normal price. Gave cat a physical. Bill today $65. What was I ever thinking even going near Petco Banfield. read more

We took our pup out here. Got the pet insurance for Banfield. Don't do it. It's a scam. The people who sell it tell you one thing, but then do the opposite. You have to drop your pet off at the back door and then they bring them back out to you. I understand covid precautions, but how is this best practice? Guess I can't ask questions, the girl who called me to come back and get my dog (as I wandered around urbandale for 2 hours waiting for my pup) didn't really seem to know, nor have time for questions. Glad I paid for insurance that is costing me a frickin fortune for nothing more than some puppy shots I could have honestly done at home. Banfield isn't what it use to be. We used them before with our mastiff and it was fabulous. But this, never again. And I would never recommend them. Pick somewhere else, anywhere else. read more

This is a great place for animals and caring for animals. When it comes to people Banfield seems to have no common sense or accept responsibility for their mistakes. Watch your bills. You may get a bill even when you don't have an account with them. You can move out of state and even have a different phone number and they will hound you for a bill you did not create. You can prove that you did not create the bill, did not use the service and don't have a pet and they agree with you that they made this error but try to get you to pay it anyway. You give the name, address and phone number of the person they should be contacting but they still harass you. You contact the owner of this pet and inform them of the delinquent bill and he agrees to pay and makes a payment thinking he has paid in full but they still contact me for payment of the balance. How stupid can you be to not contact the person that paid the bill. I will not pay this bill and do not believe when I get another pet I will not go to Banfield. read more

I've been bringing my dogs here for 2+ years, and one of them has to be seen every 3 to 4 weeks, so we've had a LOT of experience with pretty much everyone who works here. They have all been great - helpful and caring and focused on our dogs. I've lived all over and have had to bring our older dog to many Banfields and this is by far the best one we've ever been to. read more

We recently moved to the area and continued to use Banfield as our vet. This location exceeded my expectations! When I called to schedule our dog's first appointment at this location, I asked if they had any recommendations for a specific vet to see out dog because ever since he got neutered going to the vet is quite the ordeal. They recommended Dr. Marietta, and she and the nurses have been amazing with our dog! He gets quite anxious and scared at the vet and used to growl and bark since being neutered. They have made sure to take things slow with him and give him lots of love and praise to help him through it. They even had the idea to let us wait outside the room, so that Dr. Marietta would greet us and give him treats, and then we walk into the room together. That has made a huge difference, and now he doesn't bark and growl in the exam room anymore! I can't speak for any other vets at this location, but Dr. Marietta is awesome! read more

We take all of our animals to Banfield and just love them. We started going there by accident, as we needed a vet to update a vaccination for our dog before she could board her at the Petsmart kennel and are so happy that we discovered them. While I could go on and on, I'll boil my praise down to three areas: 1. They are upfront about pricing and don't "bait and switch." While we love our pets, money IS an object and while they have always presented all the options, they have also been honest about what is needed and how to prioritize. Because of that, we trust them, and trust means a lot with a healthcare provider. I'm not sure if they are less expensive, but you know what you're going to spend and that helps. 2. They are convenient. They are open on the weekends and in the evenings, so it's easier to take a pet there when we're home from work. 3. Most importantly, they are loving and compassionate. My daughter had a guinea pig pass away despite their best efforts, and they were so gentle and caring, even sending her a card a few days later with personal notes. The same thing happened after our elderly dog was euthanized there. While this seems minor, after having a vet treat us poorly during the death of another beloved animal, their care and concern really meant a lot. While they are animals, they are our beloved animals and it's nice to feel like our vet cares just as much as we do. In short, it's more than just a "strip mall vet clinic" and we encourage you to give them a try. read more

Here's the problem with Banfield - they like your money more that they care about your pet. Example: I took my dog in because she was having some stomach problems, and the vet addressed that first, of course, but after that, he started asking me about all the other impertinant things. Asking if I'd like to have them trim her nails ("they look kinda long," he said), asking if I'd like to buy some ear cleaner (after I mentioned I already had some), etc. When it came time to tally up all my charges, the total suggested bill was over $500. The nurse (assistant?) and I widdled it down to less than half what the doctor added up. Look, I understand they're running a business, and, honestly, who doesn't like money, but when I'm concerned about my dog's well-being, I expect them to put that first. They're doctors, after all. read more

We've taken our pets here for about 5 years. I love the health plans offered which defray the cost of vaccinations and include free vet visits. The vets are ways helpful and friendly. I'd also recommend the Pet Hotel which is inside Petmart. read more

Banfield in Clive, IA. Dr. Nareddy was very standoffish with my dog. Maybe because she is a pit bull. Although she is very friendly and not aggressive. Dr. Nareddy took her to the back to take care of a torn toe nail. Suddenly I could hear my dog screaming in pain! The whole store could hear her. They had pinned her down with a muzzle and ripped out her claw without using anything to numb her first. Can you imagine having your finger nail ripped out? The worse form of torture. This vet did not care for my dog. I don't know why she is a vet if she gives this sort of treatment. Do not go here if you care for your pet. They definitely do not care. I don't understand why they do not allow you go to go back to be with your pet while they check them out. Maybe they have something to hide. read more

I love the Optimum Wellness Plan that is offered. We have had our dog for just a little over a year and with the plan we have saved hundreds of dollars. They are very friendly with us and our sweet puppy! My dog is nervous at the vet and they are so good with her and helping ease her nerves. read more

My boyfriend and I each have a dog, and recently his dog became very ill. He took her to Banfield for her care, but a week later (a day after the meds they prescribed ended), her illness was worse then before. He had to work, so I took her myself. She was very very ill, but I kept being asked if I wanted them to trim her nails (which has just been trimmed) or give her a bath (which I told them had been done less then 12 hours prior). I had to tell the nurse to focus on her illness rather then selling services. Finally, after explaining the entire story of her illness to 3 nurses, only to hear all 3 nurses go back to a man waiting on the other side of the door, the man comes in and starts telling me a lot about what this might be. He listed off numerous conditions and tests that could be run to figure out what was wrong. After all of this, the total bill would have been around $700. I started asking questions about each test and what exactly they were testing for and discovered that some of the tests were unnecessary. Now I'm not a vet but if I ask the vet point blank the validity of a test, as in will the results of this test let us know what's going on and he says no, then I ask if it will rule anything out and he says no, I get suspicious. Then asking what the point of the test is and he can't give me an answer. After asking that question multiple times (ie she can't keep food down and hasn't had food in her system in 36 hours, how will you test fecal matter? Their answer: we cant My response: then why are you trying to charge me for a test you can't run?) about many tests, the bill decreased by more then half. I do not trust this place to do what is right for the dog and not their wallets. read more

They are more interested in money than the care of the animal. The Clive Hospital are very nice and do love your animal. However when your pet gets sick, in my case.. ..I did not have a good outcome with them. I went there because they had a yearly plan that included dental. Two Situations for me. 1)So even with the contract that started July 2018 for my dogs dental in (September appnt) & medical Banfield wanted $307 more to take a tooth out and fix one as Dr. Nareddy would not pull the one she wanted to fix. That hurt!!!! I think from that point on things went downhill. 2)Then in January my dog was gaining so much weight and I told Banfield vet if I cut it down anymore she will be starving, eye infections wouldn't clear up, her coat looked awful, her breathing was terrible that I took a video and took that with me of the breathing while asleep. It was labored. Finally they did blood work up February 2019 but nothing came up but they said she had dry eye (because of conjunctivitis). I started reading about dry eye and I wanted a second opinion so I went to my old vet in April 19, 2019 and when I told her about all this going on she said lets do thyroid testing. My dog had hypothyroidism. So they put her on meds for that. As I read more about this hypothyroidism ... dry eye can be caused by this as well as other things. I went back to get one more tube from them for dry eye in case I needed it...was told they were out but they gave me a prescription to take to my pharmacy. Thankfully the dry eye went away and I think that prescription was truly my walking papers. I have learned my lesson and will now stay with my old vet. The fact they didn't find the hypothyroidism says alot even telling them symptoms. read more
