I am uncertain where to begin, but I can confidently state my strong appreciation for Banfield. Upon the recommendation of a friend, I started bringing one of my dogs pete to their facility. Having prior experience working in a veterinary office, I was highly impressed with the standards maintained. The cleanliness of their treatment rooms, the friendliness and professionalism of the front desk staff, and the evident passion of the veterinary technicians and assistants stood out. Most notably, meeting Dr. Emily Mead was a profound experience; I have rarely encountered a veterinarian with such genuine dedication and compassion. Her heartfelt approach to her work is apparent, and she demonstrates a sincere concern for her patients. My only regret is that I have not had the privilege of working alongside her and the entire team at Banfield. The place is really pretty and bright! The people were friendly! They listened to what I had to say! The problems that we had were this! They didn't have all the supplies they needed to do blood work! So, it had to be sent to a separate Lab. My cat is very sick! It's hard to treat her if I don't know what to treat her for! She had 2 possibilities, Diabetes or Renal Failure. They told me they would call me on Saturday! They didn't! So I was stressed all weekend long! I was not happy about that at all! I'm going to be calling them today! She didn't do very well all weekend long even after getting fluids and a shot to boost her spirits! She's a hot mess! I love her though very much! read more

10/3/2019 We took our dog Gizmo to this location. A growth the size of a quarter had to be removed, costing us close to $700 (no payment plan, that would make too much sense). We've had to take him in 2 times since then (of course each time we get charged) because it's still bleeding. We called and complained because almost 2 months later, it's still bleeding. We were told that if we brought him back in, there would be no charge this time. The vet called my wife to tell her the sore was necrotic now and they would have to do more surgery. The issue with this is that I specifically asked that they call me first, but instead, opted to call her. That "free" visit? $400. I would have never approved that, and they knew that. I will let another vet take care of my pet from now on, because I'm sure the problem isn't resolved. Edit: 10/15/2019 After talking to Lisa R. below, she assured us someone from Banfield would contact us in 3 days. That was last Monday, October 8. Nobody has contacted us. Gizmo is supposed to have his stitches removed Thursday, but the wound has become filled with puss and is oozing from the stitches. I called them yesterday, and was assured a manager would call me back soon. I have not heard from them. I guess things get a little difficult with patients and they prefer to avoid it instead of dealing with their mistakes. read more

*I have a female Shitzu.* First my kids seem to like the fact that they post the dog or cat's names that are coming in for that day on the wall behind the receptionist. The things I do not like is that during some of the examinations they will walk your pet out I have an exam room that you get called into, and into another exam room in the back without you. I have always been told by vets in the past that because your animal cannot talk and tell you what is going on or being done to them you should never really let them go alone to be examined. If it's a procedure then obviously you can't go back there. I took a risk and while she was being taken into another exam room I had heard her bark a shriek bark a couple times, and later once she was returned to me she was shaking. When I asked what had happened they said that everything was fine. I am truly fed up with the fact that they are constantly making appointments for my dog without me acknowledging it!!! I get phone calls every 2 to 3 months stating that they look forward to seeing me the next day for my dog's dental cleaning at _:__ o'clock.... I have to remind them that I have never made an appointment for dental cleaning with them. We did once and my dog has not been the same. Three days of my dog not eating, acting aggressive and lethargic... we're not doing dental cleanings with them again! I keep telling the receptionist over and over and over and over again to take me off of automatically scheduling appointments for my dog. They say they do but again yesterday I was told that they would see me on July 7th for my dog's dental cleaning. We will be out of the state starting tomorrow (June 28th), so I definitely did not book any kind of appointment to take place during the time that we will be in New York. When booking regular well checks for my dog and to update her flea and tick medications they tell me I can just drop my dog off in the morning. No!!!! We've done appointments there before and it takes about 25 to 35 minutes. I don't need to drop my dog off and leave her there all day! I guess some people do and that's great but again I will be with my dog because she is like a child to me. The vet technicians have always been very kind, and so has a few of the veterinarians. There have been a few technicians that will squat down to my dog's level and show the dog the back of their hand and slowly turn their hand and pet my dog. I remember volunteering at an animal shelter and they stated that was always the best way to introduce yourself to a dog. One day the receptionist reached out and tried to pet my dog which scared her. I had even told her she might be a little skittish so please don't pet her right away, and right after I had just said that she reached out anyway. Honestly if you have another option for vet services.. I would go with that other option. read more

Banfield Pet Hospital SUCKS!!!!! Do not take your pet there, they are the horrible. My puppy received his first shots on 11/02/2021 from this facility. I called to schedule his follow up appointment. He was scheduled for Nov 23rd at 3:30, when I arrived, I was told that he was not scheduled. I stood at the desk and made another appointment for 12/14/2021 at 4:00. When I arrived today at 3:50 I was again told he did not have an appointment, the same person who made the appointment was now telling me that she did not know what happened. This is the second time that I have driven over 20-miles for an appointment that was not scheduled. There will not be a third time. If I could give them no stars I would. If you love and care about your pet do not take them to Banfield. read more

Attention to everyone who loves and cares about their pets - DO NOT TAKE THEM TO THIS PRACTICE!!! I do not get pleasure from writing exhaustive and negative reviews, but I do feel morally compelled to warn others of this horrific place. I have had mild issues with Banfield in the past, but none like the atrocities I experienced at this place. I apologize, it's super long, but I promise it's all worth the read. 4/12/2021 - I brought my dog in for a check-up and to have a cyst on his neck removed. He has had similar cysts in the past, and all of the other vets I have taken him to have extracted them on the spot with no issue. However, the vet thought her pay day had arrived. After taking what seemed like forever to evaluate my dog, she sends her vet tech out to discuss performing a biopsy on the cyst - an unnecessary procedure that would cost over $200 to send off to a histology lab. I questioned the vet tech, she acted clueless, and said that the vet would call me to discuss. The vet proceeded to tell me he would have to go under anesthesia for the removal and described the details of a cancer removal surgery costing $1100 that she recommended for my dog. She also made a point to state that his prognosis might not be very good because of his age - he's 4 years old. Next, she tried to recommend a teeth cleaning for him, which he also does not need at this point in his life. As the vet tech brought my dog back out to me, she provided me with a sticky note showing the potential cost of a variety of treatment options - all involving anesthesia. Then she suggested that I upgrade my wellness plan to the next level to "save money" on future treatments. I smiled, nodded, and got out of there without paying them a cent. As soon as I was at home, I researched and selected a local vet clinic to take my dog to for a second opinion. 4/29/2021 - I ended up going to Centralia Animal Hospital and I had a FABULOUS experience. My dog was in and out in less than 30 minutes - and magically the vet was able to extract his follicular cyst without anesthesia! On top of that, the vet did this removal FOR FREE! Furthermore, he said my dog looks great, and does not need any sort of professional teeth cleaning at this time either. This brings me to today, when I decided to warn my fellow animal lovers of this "vet". So, I looked up the vet's license to make sure I had her name correctly before writing reviews and reports, and guess what? She has a long history of disciplinary action against her by the Virginia Board of Veterinary Medicine. I was shocked, sickened, and infuriated by the things that I read. This vet has ZERO business caring for animals and I am shaking at the fact she was alone in the room with my dog for any period of time. Because Banfield allows such unfit practitioners to work at their establishments, I will never do business with them again. Furthermore, everyone should be aware that the business model of Banfield and their variety of "wellness" plans are purely predatory and seek to find additional problems to charge you for during your "wellness visits." Please, save your time, money, and animals by staying away! read more

It was at this Banfield that I began my dog's wellness plan. My sister has one & told me to stop in to ask about it. When I went, several years ago, I learned all about the different packages. I was shown comparison prices & they explained in detail what I would/wouldn't be receiving with each plan. It's great for military because everything is easily transferred when you PCS. You have access to all records online as well. The level of care at this facility is great. The vets & techs seem to do a thorough job & answer the many questions I always have. This has been my favorite Banfield because of one reason, Dotty, the receptionist. She is invaluable to that office. Every single time I stop in she is nothing but smiles & positivity. I dread dropping my dog off for his yearly dental cleaning because of the sedation, but she's always able to reassure me that everything will be fine & it's necessary for his health in the long run. The fact that I have to give a star at all is a complete slap in the face. This place is TERRIBLE. Their business practice is awful. The doctors seem to care about your pet, but don't count on them to note your account properly or do what they say they are going to do regarding medications. My dog takes an anti-inflammatory twice daily and every time I have to refill this prescription, I get the run around because the doctor refuses to do what he says he will do and note the account. If my dog's doctor isn't there, the other doctor's won't help me. I call upset about their way of doing business and the receptionist is rude, the vet tech is rude, the business manager is rude and everyone acts like I've done something wrong by being upset for their actions, or...lack their of. The left hand NEVER seems to know what the right hand is doing. Ever. I called and asked about a muscle relaxer, which could be used, as needed, to help relax my dog's hip/back muscles when she gets super tense and they tried to prescribe her another pain medication on several occasions. Took me a WEEK to get what I needed from them. You know it's time to pull out of a service plan with a company when their actions blow your mind to the point, you think you might be crazy. We have been using them since October 2013 and if I ever get this round of medication to continue my dog's pain management plan, I WILL be finding a new vet even if it means paying DOUBLE the cost. Save yourself the headache... The Special Care plan is PERFECT for my girl, but the aggravation is not worth the saved bucks. read more

Went there today for a "free orientation" as per the offer in the puppy package I bought. I went in there knowing they were going to push the wellness plan, and knowing that I'm not interested in the plan. I went to get the puppy microchipped. The fact that I refused to get the puppy vaccinated there seems to have struck a nerve, because when I finally saw the vet, her tone was very condescending. I'm not new to dog ownership or to the pet industry. I find her tone and assumption very insulting. Of course, even if I was new to pet ownership, I'd find it insulting. The staff was nice. The tech and receptionist were great. I just wasn't impressed at all with the vet. I'm hoping she isn't that condescending all the time, but to be that way with me was enough. Today at approx. 10am 12/30/17 I called about my service animal who was bleeding from the vegg. I was told that I would have to waite until Tues 1-2-18 8am so I made an apt. I thought about it and they had treated my service animal with antiboits about a month ago for the same thing so thinking about it I called back and ask the vet on duty to prescribe an antibiotic until I could get her in or could I bring her in emengry and I being a disabled vet on limited income just pay the #$300- but no they waited until after 6pm to call and let us know that she would have to bleed until they could see her in person! these people are only out for the money not the health of the animal! read more

I have been a customer of Banfield Pet Hospital for years! This is my fourth Banfield and I have to say I have been pleased with all but none as much as this one.
