I have been taking my pets to Brandermill Animal Hospital for 15 plus years. My parents took our pets there when I was a kid. They are always kind and compassionate. The techs are great and know my animals by name. We recently made the very hard decision to say goodbye to our beloved dog and Dr. Emily was patient, gentle and caring. She took care of my baby like she was her own and comforted me in the process. It is hard to go back there bc it is the place we lost our baby, but I tried another vet and they could not come close to the personal service we get at Brandermill. They answer texts and emails quickly and I can always get a timely appointment. read more

I do not recommend this hospital due to the behavior of their staff and the privileged responses that I was given. They accused my husband of hearing things and took the side of the staff when a staff member hung up the phone on my husband. I was right by my husband when the call happened and she most definitely hung up on him without even saying goodbye or the price of the reassessment. When I brought up several issues with the customer service team, they also took their side. They did not even apologize for the hangup. The lady in charge of the front desk ( they do not have an office manager) came on the line and brought up her tenure of 7 years. I never brought up anything about tenure; nor did I care. Later on in the conversation, I did bring up my 15 years of customer service experience of which she gaslighted and said well she has been in the business for over 20 years. The medical doctor then came on the line and stated that her staff was so upset by the conversation. ( I was speaking the truth of their entitled behavior) They then repeated that my husband was told about the x-rays when he was not asked and the summary of the visit does not show it as well. I am so disappointed with this hospital and the way they treat folks of color. They also got offended when I brought it up. I am a woman who respects others and expects the same back. I will be sharing my experience with others so that they find another place to go. They do not have any folks of color on their staff. They spoke to me as if I was beneath them and that their staff is always right. Lastly, she suggested that I take our guinea pig instead of my husband because of all the confusion. I then decided it was best to part ways and go somewhere that believes in treating their customers with respect and who has a diverse staff who do not act as if they are above someone based on their tenure. I usually skip these appointments and let my fiancé do this but I was off today. First time ever Alyssa was prepping me saying our cats aren't too nice at the vet. I thought Maui maybe but Moana no way she's the baby girl she's so sweet. I was wrong. They cried and hissed and growled. Maui is a big boy it was warming to see everyone watching him get weighed. He got the burrito and so did Moana for being bad. They wouldn't say it though. Very nice, loving people. I didn't know why. As we were leaving I saw a sign that said something like the veterinarians are someone's loved ones too. I asked Alyssa why and she said cause people can be mean. I just want to say that everyone in that building yesterday was love. Some times our pets are bad especially at the vet. Don't give these people who are also pet lovers a hard time doing what your pet won't even let you do. My pets were patients here for over 10 years. I spent thousands of dollars during that time. I chose Brandermill Animal because of the compassionate staff - from the person answering the phone to the vets. Over the years the front staff and vet techs changed. I can't recall how many times I called with an emergency and the person on the phone was more concerned about me agreeing to pay an extra fee than relaying my situation to the vet. I called once with a question about my dogs dew claw - very simple. I explained what was going on and asked advice. The snappy answer was that they don't give medical advice over the phone. Fair enough. I had given my name - spelled it out - at the beginning of the call. She obviously didn't pay attention because when I told her I wanted an appointment she rudely asked if I had ever been there. Then she couldn't find me - because she wasn't spelling my name correctly and felt my call was an inconvenience. I finally told her I would call back. I sent an email hoping one of the vets would see it, but a year later I have yet to receive a response. My pets are with a new veterinary practice now - one that's what Brandermill Animal Hospital was once upon a time. read more

Do not recommended this vet at all. Staff member was beyond rude to my mom and was a prick while speaking to her on the phone while she was just trying to get an appointment for our sick cat. If you want your vet employed by happy customers I suggest you hire some respectful staff. I will never go here or recommend this place ever again. She found something that worked with my schedule, even advising that they have late hours and can accommodate what we needed. If you have a bird, reptile, or furbaby that needs a good vet, then this is the place! I had a hard time finding a vet for my green cheek conure. I called many places before I came across this place. Making an appointment was a breeze and they answered all of my questions and told me the costs for everything, which is great. Not many vets can cater to other small pets, but this place does! It's a very small building, but felt welcoming. I got in, filled out paperwork, and checked my bird in. She was getting her first checkup; her wings and nails trimmed. Even though I made an appointment, I had to wait a few minutes for someone to take us back. I was worried my bird would freak out the whole time, but she was calm and didn't even fight her way or anything. It took literally 5 minutes and she was out the door. The staff was friendly, pricing was reasonable! The only place I would ever go from now on to take my pets to get a check up. read more

The vet and technicians are great, but the business is not. They will ask you to email records for your fur baby, but they do not have their email address on their website and they tell you a different email than what they use to send emails to you. Now I've spent over $1,000 for everything needed prior to surgery, but can't get the surgery because I'm not comfortable emailing medical records to an unverifiable email address. Horrible experience, recommend that you avoid if at all possible! read more

Let me start off by saying how lucky we are to have found this vet! We have two dachshunds, one being a puppy, and they are spoiled rotten here! Our puppy thinks this is the best place ever and is absolutely in love with Dr. G, Jess and the rest of the staff! These ladies are wonderful with handling our babies. Prices are affordable and they don't guilt trip you or push any unnecessary services. It's hard to put into words how amazing the entire practice treated our family. We just moved here with a senior cat, who wasn't well. she stopped eating and drinking, had labored breathing and foaming at the mouth. In a slight panic I called the clinic we'd sent our records to. We moved to the area a couple of years ago and I had just neglected to find a new vet. Fast forward to August when my 10 year old Yorkie started slowing down after the passing of our 10 year old Cockapoo. I wanted the best I could find so I was willing to wait the 3 weeks it would take to get in to this clinic. In that time my Cooper almost completely stopped eating. He was so sick by the time I got him in. We had blood taken and it showed he likely had either lymphoma or leukemia. The treatment options went from an immediate admission to a hospital with blood transfusions and treatments to just making him comfortable until he was ready, which is what we chose. Every single person we came into contact with was wonderful. I felt they were very reasonably priced. There was no up charging and playing off your emotions to get treatment that probably wouldn't have worked. If you want to partner with a vet that truly has your fur babies' best interest, this is the place to be. Unfortunately we lost our sweet boy shortly after our first visit. But I can tell you based on our visit and subsequent phone conversations, if we ever get another pet this will be the first place we take him. I called to let them know he had passed so we wouldn't be back and received a beautiful card signed by each of the staff with sweet notes by each. Definitely recommend! read more

I took some very sick Ferrell kittens I was caring for because I had taken one to the emergency vet's. And then I found 2 more kitten's with the same thing so this one vet decided she would tell me that maybe I should have left them alone I was supposed to go to the emergency room my Doctor told me because i am sick to.but I couldn't leave the kitten's plus my Brother has stage 4 cancer anyway this vet has the nerve to tell me they will keep them but it's a big inconvenience for them I called around and Smitty's rescue saved them and they are eating on their own 2 of them .I cried and cried for the way the vet fussed at me I had been going there about 15 to 20 year's I had 5 deaths in my Family plus my cat had to be put to sleep she was 22 year's old and 2/12 ago I had to put my dog down for heart failure.i buried my Husband my momma my twin Brother. The staff Jeanner and the the other staff is really nice but I'm never going back because of her 2 girls came and I found another sick Ferrell kitty they took him the was from Richmond animal league they said I did the right thing they would have died I Thought vets take a outh to save animals oh the vet apologised after she was called down .just lost a loyal customer I'm not going back !!! read more

I have never written a review before since I always thought; why bother. But I have to write one for this place. These people are so amazing!!!!! I recently had to put my guinea pig, Zippy down and it was very hard on me; I was crying and just a complete and total mess. They were very patient with me, they let me say my goodbyes and stay with him for as long as I wanted. The vet Dr. Emily gave me a hug (and that was the second time I had ever seen her before.) Just recently i got a card in the mail from the Brandermill Animal Hospital saying That they were sorry about my loss and on the inside, everyone who worked there had written their own personal message to me and I just thought that was the sweetest thing ever! I highly, highly, highly recommend this place to anyone who has a pet. I cannot stop talking about this place to everyone I know who has a pet, they are just the sweetest people ever and I truly enjoyed going there (even though I had to put my guinea pig down). read more

The first time I visited this clinic the vet used big medical terms without explaining them in layman terms. The 2nd time was no improvement although I saw a different vet. This clinic is all about money & they overcharge for many of their services. You need to do some comparison shopping. It is a dump & they should use some money for paint for inside & outside. I took my rescue dog for yearly shots & a skin condition. The vet took blood for testing & never came back to tell me the results of the heartworm or fecal test, in fact I never saw her again for the rest of the visit. The assistant give me the financial cost for Apoquel that they sell for twice as much if you got it online. I ordered it online & now they will not approve it because they want to do more testing, unbelivable. I will never spend another dime in this dump & would not recommend it to anyone.
