We took our dog to the Downingtown location as our regular vet was out on medical leave. We knew we had to put our dog down that day as her legs had finally given out. Dr. T. was very sympathetic, caring, knowledgeable, and friendly. He explained the whole process to us and gave us as much time as we wanted with Ellie before as well as after. I took my 5-month-old puppy in because he was struggling to breathe. I dropped him off at 7 AM and waited around. They said it would be a little bit, but he would be next to be seen at 9 AM. I left and had not heard anything, so around 12 PM I called. They had said that no one had seen him yet, and they were very busy; surgeries are top priority, and one was running late. Understandable, but shouldn't a dog that is having trouble breathing be a top priority as well? My puppy was sitting in a crate for 6 hours, possibly longer if I hadn't gone to pick him up without a call. When I picked up the older lady at the desk was not helpful and basically said my dog was not a priority at all. They "did not have time to give me my dog's results", but they did have time to charge my card without letting me know what was going on! I called hours later to see about the results, multiple times, no answer, so i went in. When I went in, they told me he was not doing what I said, and they seemed as if they thought I was lying(who wants to lie to a vet and pay a vet bill just for fun). When you own an animal, you know that dog inside out, and my dog has never acted the way he was, and he was gasping for air. I KNOW he was doing it while in their care for 6 hours. My dog came out scared, shaking, and crying. Something is off with Banfield, and I would never leave my pet in their care again. If you care about your pet, you shouldn't either. read more

(The care is 4*, only because I always feel that they are trying to upsell me when I come in.) Trying to call to make an appointment or to talk to someone at the facility is harder than birthing a Volkswagen. I have tried calling to make an appointment for my dog for over 5 weeks. Yes, I can leave a message, but I shouldn't have to. My job is such that we would be playing phone tag all day. I have seriously thought of changing vets because of this. Don't tell me to go online to make an appointment - I want to CALL and chat with someone. I see understand that there are busy phone times in the day, but NOT all day long. Have now switched to drop off appointments, kept my dog for 4 hours for shots and a nail trim and apparently a comprehensive exam but the vet never spoke to me at all. not really impressed with this change, just really over complicates a simple appointment. read more

Dr. Rossi is by the far the best vet we have had. We have three dogs, 6,4 and a pup of 8 months. He knows your pet is family and treats them with such kindness and heart. we have had three emergencies with our youngest and this location got her in ASAP and saved her life. Been using Banfield all over the US for a few years. This one is by far the worst. They NEVER answer their phone. It doesn't matter what time you call, they don't answer and the website doesnt show this location to choose from. My dog is nearing the end of his life and having to find a new vet is a pain in the butt, but that looks like where I am at. read more

It all started 2 years ago when we took our 10 wk old pup for an initial visit. The staff was pushy with trying to sell us vet packages. They took a fecal sample and said they would call the next day if he tested positive for worms. No call. Must be good, right? NO! 10 days later they called and ask if we picked up his meds? "Meds for what? The worms he tested positive for almost 2 weeks ago." At that point we took him to Ludwig's Vet in Chester Springs, which has been a pleasure from day one. This past Sunday, our dog was injured and was whimpering and only using 3 legs. Ludwig's is closed on Sundays. With no other options known, we went to Banfield in Downingtown. While our dog was whimpering and trying to balance on 3 legs, the woman behind the counter would not even entertain looking in her computer to find even a 5 min appt. All we needed was to have someone take 5 mins to give us a recommendation of something we could maybe do or buy buy to help him for one more day until we could get him to the real vet. She looked at my dog and listened to all of his pain and whimpering and turned us away without even checking with a vet first. I should have known better. Banfield is is about $$, not about the well-being of a voiceless animal. Go to Ludwig's for a staff that go above and beyond for your furry family member. read more

This is the ABSOLUTE worst Banfield pet hospital I have ever encountered! My dogs have been going to Banfield since 2010, I just moved to this area and found that this location was close to me. Every time I call, the caller is always rude, mostly it is Sarah. They give contradicting information and just not a place I want my dogs going to! If you can avoid this location at all costs, I definitely advise against going here! read more

Least favorite Banfield by far out of the few I've gone to. I figured I'd give it a try since we moved & it's closer then the north wales location. I will gladly drive the extra 15 minutes to north wales from now on. The front office staff are unfriendly & uncaring. They charge an outrageous amount of money for a dog nail grinding & don't even inform you on how expensive it will be. I use to go to this same office a few years ago when our dog was a puppy & i wasn't impressed then & i am not even more disappointed now. If you can, go to a different location. read more

What's the point of having business hours if you don't adhere to them and close early? I drive an hour and 15 minutes to get to the hospital before they close at 6 pm. I show up at 5:45 pm to pick up my dogs medication. I'm then told from PetSmart staff that they decided to close and there was NOBODY that could help me get my dogs medication until Monday. Maybe I'm a weirdo, but I've really only had positive experiences here. Michael (yes that's my dog's name) is always thrilled to death to see everyone and I know they love on him (his fur is everywhere on them haha). They did have some pushy people a few years ago (so much so that one tried to sell me her OWN training sessions, going as far as saying my dog needs obedience training; he doesn't; and when i told her i also train, she tried to recruit me. so yes, i have seen ugly there), but I haven't seen any of them in a long time and the people they have there now are very kind and sweet. I've never NOT gotten through on the phone and have always been given an appointment immediately. The plan has been great for me (as a helicopter mom, i can't help it) to be able to stop in if something seems wrong. I haven't had to use it often but it's been a comfort to have. Just as a follow up to my original review. It has been two weeks since Dr. Paaby and her team overdosed my 12 yr old dog. I have called the medical director twice and submitted a formal complaint with the Customer Advocacy Team. I was told I would be contacted within 3-5 days. Two weeks later and never a call. Never even a call from the vet or her staff checking in on the welfare of my pet. And, they won't allow me to cancel my Pet Protection Plan unless I pay $800. Total disgrace. read more

I just got a puppy 5 days ago. I wanted to bring him in for a preliminary check up/physical exam to make sure all was well. When I made my appointment online, I also got a coupon (DIRECTLY FROM BANFIELD WEBSITE) that said my first exam would be free (since this puppy is a new patient). I got to my appointment, waited 5-10 minutes until someone came to the front desk, and then presented his records from the breeder and my coupon. The woman immediately tried to sell me on a wellness plan - which was very sales-y and unappreciated. I hadn't even gotten my dog completely checked in yet. Then, she commented on the fact that I showed up early to the appointment (sorry? I wanted to come with enough time to check in a new puppy didn't know that was looked down upon). I then had to wait another 25ish minutes until someone came out from the back and was like oh does anyone know you're here? and I was like um yes but ive been waiting 30 minutes. She then asked if I had already given my records - I said yes and that I also showed my first time exam coupon. She said oh we don't accept that coupon here. I expressed to her that I showed it when I first arrived 30 minutes ago along with my records, why wouldn't have someone told me that then? She didn't even know what to say. Why would a company offer a coupon at the time of making an appointment and then not accept it at the time of the appointment? Super unprofessional and bad customer service. I told her I didn't want my dog to be seen anymore and would take him to another vet (since he needs his next round of vaccines next week anyways). She said "ok let me give you your records back"... she then gave me one sheet of his records not even the whole packet I originally gave to them.... how disorganized. Was skeptical at first after seeing previous reviews, but since I was going in for a simple check up I decided to give it a try anyways. Besides waiting for an extra few minutes after checking inn and then waiting for the final review by the doctor, the staff seemed nice and gentle while handling my dog. WARNING! Do not get sucked into Banfield's money grubbing scheme. My 6 month old kitten needed a checkup/consultation because we thought he had a polyp and hadn't had a checkup before and needed a consultation (for what we thought was a polyp) so we thought, why not? So I thought nothing wrong with the "free checkup/consultation" they had advertised online. WRONG! So, we scheduled the appointment and went to the appointment. Someways in, the vet - Dr. Stellato advised us it wasn't a polyp as she had pulled out a clear test stick...then mentioned the ridiculous prices for all of the exams/tests that would be needed. We are tight on money so the vet and her technician being slimy pressured us into the "Early Care Plus" plan. What a coincidence that all the things "we needed" were pretty much "free" with the "Plan." As we were going through the process of being schemed into this "Plan" the Vet Tech made sure to assure us that "you can cancel any time." The Vet Tech assured us that "you can cancel any time" several times throughout the mini-presentation what I felt was akin to a snake-oil-salesmen's presentation. Wrong, the "Plans" are extremely hard to cancel and it recurs forever (she left that out); she also left out that if you cancel early (hidden contract is 12 months) you will pay the full price of exams/tests/services/whatever that you pay without the discount that "Early Care Plus" gives you. Only 1 vet and three technicians at this office yet 15 new types of these patients EVERY day. A few days later, we make an appointment because my cat is bleeding from the nose. Get the usual, while making an appointment on the phone "we're pretty booked" (as we got with the first appointment) "come in right now and we'll see what we can do." Go there, receive news that the one and only vet they have is in surgery they take my cat for a 3 minute appointment in back. Pfft. Few minutes after they give my cat back after "checking" him one of the vet tech's there on duty (who was seemingly unsympathetic and rushed as she was with a client) hand's an emergency vet pamphlet to us and basically says to go somewhere else as they're booked. Wow, I was angered...one of this place's services is supposed to be an "emergency vet" as advertised on there website...it's what we are paying for/payed for by subscribing to their "Plan." I later call back and the vet wouldn't even prescribe an antibiotic for him (he has a whole list of symptoms) and I am just flustered. The second appointment there (the one above) it took three minutes to check him out. An appointment? It wasn't an appointment at all. The vet in surgery obviously didn't check him out - maybe a glance from a-far as she was in surgery...maybe a vet-trainee (tech) did check him out as in a brief glance and sent someone else to tell us to go somewhere else. This place is supposed to be a "emergency service" and they failed to tend to my cat's serious (emergency issue) that's a bleeding nose. Plenty of more small angering details that I left out because it's too much to write here. The staff here are designed to con you into the "Plans" which you are unable to use and of poor customer service. Each and every one the staff of are "snake-oil salesman" or in layman's terms con-women/men. DO NOT GO HERE FOR A "FREE EXAM/CONSULTATION" LET ALONE ANYTHING. IT WILL COST YOU HUNDREDS AND LATER ON THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS PLUS THEY HAVE NONEXISTENT SERVICE. Thank you, Dr. Stellato and Team. read more
