Beware of wellness plan. I signed up and set appointment for next vaccination after them telling me not to lapse between parvo shots after neighbor dog was diagnosed. Set appointment for Saturday following vaccine schedule. The Saturday of his appointment their office decided to close. I spoke to store manager who told me they only rented the space the Banfield and that the vets office told them there were no appointments that day. No one called to cancel or let me know they've decided to close. Their website lists them open on Sunday but they're not. They make their hours by what's convenient and meanwhile I'm stuck with an over 500 bill and all I've gotten is one booster shot. I emailed Banfield cares over 2 weeks ago and still no response. My charges are in photo below. I did not ask for a fecal exam and stated he had one recent that was negative. I was charged for it and a wormer but also shows in his labs he was negative. I took my pup to this office and asked not to give tests and unnecessary treatment and never seen a worm treatment but charged for it anyway. read more

Horrible experience with Susan at front desk. From the minute I arrived she had an attitude towards my pet. She called him evil and a bad dog. "I like corgis, but he is just evil." He is 14 years old and in need of seeing a doctor, but her main concern was not about his wellbeing, but about how she is put out by having him there and having to care for him. "We have to muzzle him every time and he bites us and poops on the floor". We have been told that he "nips", but never been told he actually has bitten someone. I'm sorry, but some dogs are extremely nervous at the vet and may behave in challenging ways, but if you are a PROFESSIONAL trained correctly, you are able to deal with said behaviors. I'm shocked, appalled and incredibly saddened by this employee's actions. She should not be working with animals if she doesn't have compassion, empathy or fondness for them. NEVER take your pet there! I left with my dog because I had no confidence in Susan and feared he would be mistreated. I take my cat and usually see Dr Dybull and he is thorough and friendly. Ive only had positive experiences at this location. Last week I took my cat in for treatment and was greeted by the receptionist named Brit. He's always helpful and friendly. This is the only place I would take my animals. I love the wellness plan too. When you sign up for it make sure you realize what it does and doesn't cover. For me its a good deal! read more

Rude staff! My appointment was at 7:15 am, and the opening shift person, a male with long dark hair, was incredibly rude. No greeting upon arrival, hardly talked to me while dropping off my pet. I stood at the desk for a good 5 minutes before he said anything to me. and when he did say something, it was rude. read more

If i could give negative stars I would! They killed my sweet dog by giving her multiple medicines that were not supposed to be taken together causing her terrible untreatable pain. I was forced to put her down. Multiple doctors and nurses were asked about the medicines and all are so sick that they didn't even care to give us the right information. Enough that alone made me stop going but there's something else that troubles me about this place - Since it's in PetSmart, if someone brings in a sick dog there's the risk of people who just have their dogs shopping getting sick too. Banfield Pet hospital, great raves. Their service is outstanding. I adopted a little pooch. I named her Kimchee, a little Jack Russell Terrier. She was a rescue, about 2 years old, not well taken care of. Her average weight was supposed to be 12-14 lbs. but she barely weighed 6lbs. Her rib bones were sticking out. So I went to Banfield Pet Hospital. I met a really nice girl at the front desk, her name was Heather Toole. She was very knowledgable- high kudos to her. She recommended to set Kimchee up on a Wellness Program. They gave her shots, checked her vital organs, and recommend me to feed her certain types of dog food to get her back to normal. Well, she is now almost 5 years of age, she looks like a million bucks. So thank you Banfield and Heather Toole, for taking care of my pooch. The only issue I have-the Wellness plan is a little pricy per month, but that's the price of unconditional LOVE for my pooch. read more

Extremely rude front desk staff. Definitely stay away from their wellness plans. Once I was on a wellness plan I thought I would receive better customer care, not worse. They are overpriced and hard to get off of. (I still have to finish paying out the year, despite them treating us terribly.) They didn't even have the courtesy to do a follow up call on our dog the next day. If you HAVE to use Banfield, find a different location, this one doesn't respect your pets, so they definitely don't deserve your business. read more

NEVER TAKE A PET HERE!!! Took my 5 year old cat here to be checked and treated for flea's and ear mites. They told me if I signed up for a wellness plan that it would be only 20 or 30 bucks more than just having those 2 things done, plus I would then be able to bring him in for 2 free checkups for 1 year. I agreed but told them to still ONLY do those two things to him. When I came back to pick him up later that day they informed me that they did 10 extra things to my cat "because my wellness plan covered it at no additional fee. Sure, whatever, I didn't really care too much if it was free. Later that night I took him home and noticed he had a wrap around his paw, I didn't think anything of it. My nurse girlfriend looked and said we should really take it off. When we went to take it off we noticed his paw was twice the size of his other paw. NEVER did any of the salesmen like women at that vet ever mention to me or my girlfriend to take off that paw wrap. We took pictures of my cats foot and sent them to 2 other veterinarians and BOTH agreed that if that wrap was left on overnight, my cat's paw would of have to been amputated. When I called Banfield Hospital the next day and spoke to the vet that operated on my cat, she said and I quote exactly "i'm sorry but that's just incorrect, sir, your cat was in no sort of danger whatsoever". I informed her I contacted 2 other veterinarians and had picture proof of his paw twice the size of the other one. She still told me I was wrong and that it was my opinion. After all this I told her I just wanted to cancel the plan and that I would never be doing business with Banfield Pet Hospital in my life again. That's when they told me that I would have to pay over $500.00 for all of the extra things they did to my cat when i SPECIFICALLY asked them to just check and treat for fleas and ear mites. Enraged I called their main number and talked to a managers manager and explained all of this and offered to email them pictures of my cats foot. They said they would look into it and reach back out to me apologising. Next day I spoke with someone that says they normally never do this but considering what happened to my cat they will cancel my plan. TLDR: They almost made my cat's leg dead and have to get amputated, told me I was wrong when I had picture proof, and tried to charge me for things I ASKED not to have done. Stay far far away from their wellness plans. They can't bill them correctly after your credit card expires even when you update your credit card information on their website. The billing for wellness plans is both a joke and a disaster. Every two years for the last ten years when it's time to update my credit card information, their billing department can't get it right. The web updated information is not used and they continue to harass us for payment. This time after multiple calls and being told that we were paid up, they turned us in to "IC Collections" agency. I tried to tell the collection agency that the account was paid up and they promptly threatened to continue harassing me until I paid them. She also said that they were reporting me to the credit bureau. I called the local Banfield and they confirmed the same as Banfield corporate did yesterday that there was no balance. The local office directed me to their corporate office. The corporate billing group is a joke because today they found that we did have an outstanding balance. I made the payment but what a mess since we spoke to them for over 30 minutes yesterday about both of our pets. read more

Banfield has been my primary vet since acquiring a stray puppy almost two years ago. The service and availability have been wonderful and unlike some of the local vets they are reasonably priced and not surgery happy. The employees have been very helpful with advice about raising my dog and how to avoid losing him to puppy thieves in the city I live in. While I feel bad turning my back on several independent vets, it's become too convenient to drop him off during the work week. My only complaint is that they offer no kenneling service unless an overnight stay is necessary. read more

We have used Banfield for the last 9 yrs. We had a shar pei and not all vets like to deal with them. That is one of the reasons we started going to Banfield. Yoshi had many issues (which some shar peis do) so needless to say they got to know her and us very well. After she passed away we did a shar pei rescue and got a 14 month old beautiful lilac dilute traditional shar pei. She is AKC registered and was mistreated which has lead her to being fearful. We took her to the vet & saw Dr. Nieman. She was great with Ziva and she is doing well. As far as expensive, I don't know any that aren't. read more

I started going to Banfield Pet back last summer 2011 with our special rat Terrier Tess who started acting lethargic. I was hestitate to take her there but was a Sunday when she got so sick so I went with her. I couldn't have ask for better service. They treated her like she was a member of the family. In August I had to have her put down because of Cancer. They were so sympathic and caring. I now have another Terrier Pita she has been going there just got spayed and I am very satisfied with the results of it all. They have called twice since the surgery to make sure she is ok. I would not hesitate ever again to take my pet there. They have been very supportive of all our needs. Yes they may be a little more expensive not really sure but when a pet is part of the family a LITTLE more isn't that much for us to part with when you get good service. read more

Banfield was great.....years ago. Now they are all about making the most money regardless of what is best for your pet. We took our 13 year old cat to them with very labored breathing and not eating or drinking. We had to drop him off. We received a call from the doctor wanting to run tests and an offer of the wellness plan. They ran tests and gave him antibiotics because he "may" have a respiratory infection (even though his chest sounded clear) or a UTI. They also did a Thyroid test. If that did not help, more tests, x-rays or exploratory surgery. The next morning his breathing was even more labored, he still had not eaten or drank any water and he seemed to be giving up. We came to the hard decision to let him go and not put him through more torment especially having gone nearly three days without food or water. We took him back and were basically scolded by a vet tech ( the doctor was not there Monday morning either). We voiced our concerns over dehydration and kidney failure due to not eating. She told us he was not "that" dehydrated the day before and the more labored breathing was just stress from feeling bad. We were also told it is not Banfield's policy to euthanize animals until all options were explored. We opted to take him for a second opinion. The vet we took him to, saw the labored breathing and listened to his chest. The cat's chest was full of fluid, and he told us the "abdominal breathing" and fluid indicated he was suffering from heart failure. He offered x-rays (which he said should have been done before blood tests based on the breathing issues) but, said they are often inconclusive. He did not push treatments on us and was very compassionate and honest letting us know there were tests and procedures that could extend his life, but based on his age would not really improve it's quality. Our friend is now resting in peace, no thanks to the corporate, money first policies of Banfield. read more

We have had two dogs that we dealt with Banfield over the past 15+ years. The first Jojo was welcomed everytime there and the staff and vets at the time knew him very well. Jojo got very sick and the took xrays of him(several of the same view but we got charged for each and everyone taken. Then we were told that we needed to take him to Blue Ash for a sonogram as they could not do that here,problem was it was late in the day and we were not told that there would not be a tech there until the next day until we were there over 1 hour to top it off we had to pay $75 to get our dog back since we were not going to leave him there overnight. We ended up taking him to Fort Wright to have an operation because Banfield wanted too much for the surgery. As I stated we had two dogs under the payment plan. We lost Jojo in 2010. Tank our second dog recently got sick and we called Banfield (The Pet Hospital and I use that term very loosely) we were told that they were too busy and could not see him. He had a large tumor on his belly and we ended up having to go somewhere else to have that surgery done for less and better care than what Banfield would have charged. It turned out that after that was done he got ill again and we found out that he had another tumor on the inside that was pressing against his heart and would have just gotten worse. Tank was over 15 years old and we decided that he probably would not have made it through another surgery so we had him put to sleep. This was last Friday the 16th as it turns out it was exactly 7 years to the day that we lost Jojo. Sorry for the long story but what really turned us off about Banfield and the reason for this is when I called Banfield's office to let them know I was told to hang on a second while they pulled up my account and then was told that the policy had just renewed and that they would be nice to me and give me a 50 percent discount and that I would only have to pay them 3 more payments to close my account. Our beloved pet is DEAD YOU MORONS!!!! If this is all this company cares about there business I would recommend everyone to go somewhere else. My recommendation would be Florence Animal Hospital and Veternary. Doctor Davis and the staff helped us out this last few weeks that we had Tank and he was honest and everyone was very sympathetic for our loss. If we get another pet we WILL NOT EVER GO BACK TO BANFIELD AGAIN. I think I might go into Banfield at least once a day for the next three months with Tanks box and ask if my pet is still dead. After taking my dog to Banfield for a simple itching issue I spent $130.00 for the visit and medications. We followed instructions to the letter and my dog seen 0 improvement. I called them and told them after the meds were gone that she (my dog) was no better at all they had us wait awhile longer. We called back and told them she is still no better. They now want to charge us again for their failure. They said its trial and error and they we will have to pay again. I chose not to reward them with more of our money to cover incompetence. If you are rich and have plenty of time go for it , otherwise go somewhere else. You have been warned. read more

Banfield started out great for us.We had two English bulldogs who had some ear and skin problems. We got to the vet approx. 3 times a year and their service has become worse everytime. There is a rotating cast of vets and they send the vet techs in to try to upsell you everytime. I'm no vet but I have common sense. We don't need to run a $300 battery of tests everytime my dog comes in with an ear infection. Overall, very displeased and will not ever go back again. read more

I use to really like this vet. But, when they purposely charge for the wellness plan 2 days late every other month and hit me with $20 late fee I canceled the renewal. I called to see about getting my cat in for an appointment today October 29th 2017(Sunday morning)cause he isn't eating or drinking. But he is crying, and not wanting to move. He cries when being petted too. I was put on hold after giving the symptoms to the desk clerk. Then was hung up on by the woman. I called back and was told that from the symptoms I described that it was a blockage and gave me the numbers for emergency vets that are too far for me to travel and that are only open after 6pm. Didn't even see my cat and diagnosed him with a blockage (I get that it's common for male cats to get blockages. But this is unprofessional. This is how issues are missed. This was just plan lazy.) Monday at 8pm will be 24 hours of him acting this way. 1st thing Monday morning I will be taking him to a new vet. read more
