My boyfriend and I brought home our puppy a few days ago and had our first appointment at Banfield, which is located inside the PetSmart in Shoppers World. When we arrived, the receptionist was super friendly and explained their policies and answered our questions thoroughly. The nurse, Kate, was so nice and knowledgable and after our appointment, she helped us pick out some appropriate teething toys and treats for him. The Veteranarian, Dr. G, was awesome, super nice, and answered all of our questions. Overall, it was a great experience and it's super convenient to be in a pet supply store as well... Horrible. Banfield used to be good until they moved out of Petsmart. My original vet left after the move. I lost 2 cats over at Banfield by the same Dr. My 2nd cat had surgery and 3 days later she passed away. I rushed her to Angell and they couldn't save her. More to the story but to lengthy to get into. Odd how 2 of my cats who the same vet looked at and operated on ive lost :( . Not to mention but one staff members s exsteamly rude. read more

I have been a Banfield member for over 14 years and my visit to the Framingham location on Saturday was one of the very best I have ever had! Very clean location, quiet, friendly, efficient, caring, knowledgeable and EFFECTIVE vet and vet tech who took such good care of our furry boy! These people are horrible to the animals!!!! Do not go here! I once liked them and they all seem very kind and loving to the animals until I took my dog there and was standing in the waiting area and the back door happened to open and i witnessed one of the associates literally pulling on a dogs ear forcing his head down. She didn't expect the door to be opened when it did and quickly looked at me and turned away. I regret not saying anything but knew in my mind I would never be back and I never have. (**This clinic has a new team since the history of lower reviews**) We have two dogs, ages 6 and 13, and they have been here for check-ups and now a medical semi-emergency (sudden onset of seizures). We have been consistently delighted in how friendly, caring, responsive and skilled the staff are, from the front desk to the doctors. Nurse Allie is especially amazing! There is excellent communication about potential procedures and costs, with clear explanations about what each test is for, and whether it is more 'elective' versus necessary, which is super helpful. They can fill scripts on site or give you prescriptions to order meds elsewhere. Nice option to drop off your pet so you do not have to wait. Note - CALL them about appointments (rather than scheduling online)!! They will get your pet in ASAP if you call directly while the online options are often a week+ out. Great hospital. Very kind and helpful. They reopened a few months ago which we are so happy about. We really missed it when we had to switch to banfield in Holliston temporarily. They don't compare to this location. The new veterinarian, Dr. McCaffrey, is wonderful. He truly loves his patients and is kind and extremely helpful, patient and informative. Dr. McCaffrey goes above and beyond to make sure that his patients, and their parents, are comfortable, at ease, and as healthy as they can be. He spends as much time as we need answering our questions and explaining everything to us about our babies health thoroughly. The assistant at the front desk, Chris, also truly cares. You can tell how much he loves his job, and the fur babies who come in. I had a problem ordering my shitzhus heart medications on Chewy.com, and Chris called them and took the time to fix the issue, and even called me, first thing in the a.m. to tell me that it was all set. He is caring and kind, and makes both us and our babies feel both welcomed and comfortable. Would never leave! Thank you Banfield...especially Dr. McCaffrey and Chris, from all of us! read more

Here's an update on how bad Banfield is, and their lack of education in properly treating animals. Here's a picture of my puppy, who was spayed by Banfield at 6 months. This picture was taken at 8 months, 2 months after the procedure. Negligence on behalf of the vet caused her pain and impacted my wallet. Next are side by side pictures. One of the healthy side of her mouth/teeth and the other of a retained baby tooth. Banfield refused to remove the retained tooth until she is 12 months old or her first dental cleaning. This goes against the advice of the American Kennel Club and 4 reputable vet's I have discussed her case with. Google when to remove retained baby teeth, as well as what happens if the teeth are not removed at 6 months of age and you will discover all that can happen. Here we are 3 months after I reached out to Banfied and did not get anywhere. Can you imagine if I wait another three months? She cannot chew on that side of her mouth, clearly telling me it is uncomfortable. I will be taking Banfield to small claims, my paperwork has been filed. I don't care if it take 5 years to get my day in court. This is about the principle of what I have been through, my poor puppy has been and continues to go through and for the countless other animals receiving beyond inadequate care from this practice. read more

Was traveling through on our way and far away from our vet. I called around to see who had availability because our dog needed to be seen same day. Kathleen answered the phone and was so helpful and pleasant. When I arrived I got the same phenomenal service from the vet tech and in less than 30 minutes (we did not have a specific appointment time they were going to fit him in) the vet called back and explained everything in full detail. I was extremely happy with the level of service and compassion. If I am in the area and the need shows up again, I would not hesitate to use them again. read more

Do NOT recommend. Took my dog in three separate times over a couple of months for some horrible hot spots. Each time, they cleaned them, and prescribed antibiotics for the infection but couldn't determine what was causing the incessant constant itching. My wife and I found out on our own, it was the food that THEY recommended we switch him to (it was a grain food even though we told them he had been on a grain free food his entire life). Most recently, he started bleeding from his penis so we brought him in for that. They said it was a UTI and prescribed more pills. After a month, the bleeding did not stop. We were getting fed up with bringing him here over and over so we tried a different vet. They could tell us immediately it was NOT a UTI which is why what they prescribed did absolutely nothing. Overpriced and unhelpful. They spelled my name wrong on the medical records. I've been to this location and the one in Cambridge. My kitten was sent home with a flea medicine that had incredibly vague directions. When I called to specify when and how I should give it to him, I was told to put it in his food. I clarified multiple times and she said "yeah he eats it, just put it in his food". This is a TOPICAL medication. We canceled our wellness plan and will be taking our money and kittens to a local vet. read more

Our babies have been going here for years and see Dr. Hassey, who is absolutely wonderful. She really cares about her patients, and goes above and beyond. We feel very comfortable leaving our babies with her. What we really love, and appreciate too, is that Dr. Hassey will answer absolutely any question we might have, and spend as much time as we need discussing each and every concern we may have. She also makes sure we 100% fully understand the situation at hand. Marcy Segel, the hospital supervisor, goes above and beyond as well. She really cares about the animals too. Both Dr. Hassey and Marcy are an asset to the hospital. We don't feel comfortable handing our babies over to just anyone, but we are assured that when they are in their hands, that they are 100% safe and well. read more

I wouldn't recommend Banfield to anyone unless you want to consistently follow up with things. I constantly have to call back for prescription requests or just about anything I need to do. They lose information, don't call back, or can get visits synchronized. I'm not one to complain over 1 little thing, but it's gotten ridiculous. If it wasn't for Dr. Fiske (who I adore) and the Wellness Plan I bought I would never go there again. I know there are many other vets out there and people might ask.."why don't you change?" but, my dog is 15 and I don't want to start switching vets at this point. Mostly because Dr. Fiske knows her health issues and is very good with her. As far as the rest of the staff...No comment. read more

The plan is expensive and the prices keep going up! I have two kittens both 4months and 6months who I enrolled a few (3-4) months apart... My new kitten is $10 more than the first because of a plan increase that I didn't find out about until the bill came! (you'd think the more pets enrolled the cheaper each pan would be)! The shoppers world location is the only location I can speak for however at this location the doors are thin and you can hear EVERTHING, from the good and the bad things the vets have to say about your pet, your self, or other pet owners. The front desk ladies are young and sport a "id rather be anywhere but here" attitude and are of little to no help when paying/booking an appointment. I was not even notified by them that my next appointment would be at a new location! The vets are very condescending and short with new pet owners and I find my self feeling stupid for asking questions regarding my cats health!! At Banfield, They can either be super quick or incredibly long and the reason for visit has nothing to do with their timing. 2/10 recommend. They have taken care of my boys but i will not be renewing my plan once this one ends. read more

STAY CLEAR OF BANFIELD!!! These people are completely unprofessional. My boyfriend and I recently adopted two kittens from the shelter sponsored by the Salem PetSmart. They told us that they had all their shots/were fixed and just needed one more distemper shot. Easy enough. So we make the appointment at Bancroft Pet Hospital in the Framingham Petsmart. This is our first time owning a pet so we had never really been to a vet before. I made that clear to the nurses and doctor, expecting them to be kind and detail the usual vet routine. Nope. They were incredibly cold and unwelcoming. Dr. Nyguyen walked in, starting baby-talking to my cats, and did not even stop to introduce herself to me. I finally just introduced myself and asked for her name and her NURSE tells me the doctor's name and Nyguyen still refuses to even acknowledge my presence. After being told we only needed to get one more distemper shot and that the kittens had physicals every week, the doctor announces that they will need yet another distemper shot "because that's how we do it at Banfield." I was already surprised that they had charged us $70 for a 5 minute physical but whatever, I signed up for that last shot. Thoroughly annoyed, I brought them back today for the last shot. The doctor is late - surprise, surprise. The nurse begins to weigh them and that's when I realize - they're about to charge us another $70 for a 5 minute physical THREE WEEKS after we last brought them in! And this is AFTER the doctor and nurse stated that we would only be bringing them in for their last shot. After informing them that I had no experience with vets, you would think it would be common sense to tell me that they do a physical every time you bring an animal in. Went off on a bit of a tangent, but I just can't express how upset I was with the treatment I received at Bancroft Animal Hospital. As soon as she began the physical, we turned around and walk out the door. This degree of unprofessional behavior (or lack of common sense) is just completely unacceptable. Go elsewhere. read more

I took my dog there for a check up and to get a prescription for a dog medicine. The check up was ok, but the doctor told me to give my dog 40mg of the medicine twice a day. My original vet told me to give my dog 40mg once a day. 80mg a day is prescribed for dogs twice the size of my dog. This is a pretty big mistake. An overdose would KILL my dog. I used to go to Porter Square Vets, and I wish I still lived in the Somerville area just so I could go back to Porter Square Vets. I'm now looking for a new Vet in Framingham. read more

I wish that there was a way to give a .5 star. The only reason for that would be how nice and engaged the two nurses who tried their best to handle my situation were. But all in all, I would not recommend this place. I spoke with a woman at the front desk about a week and a half ago about getting on the insurance plan. She told me that my seven month old Scottish Fold could go on the kitten plan, and thus a spay is included with everything else. I asked if I could do the pre-consultation at the location closer to my house (in Milford), and then take her in for the spay to the Framingham location, since I live in Milford. She said I could not if I wanted to get her spay at framingham (where I work). So, after asking her a million questions about the insurance plan (and during this time she somehow forgot to mention that my seven month old cat is not even eligible for the kitten plan), she sets me up for an appointment at the Framingham location on the weekend, telling me that I need to bring the kitten in at the time. So, long story short, I get there only to find out that my kitten is not, in fact, eligible for the plan, and that I don't even get a discount on the spay! I really couldn't even believe that she would feed me that misinformation, knowing full well that I would have to make a 40 minute drive for that very purpose! I am not sure if she was consciously lying to try to get me there so that I would just agree to pay the extra, or if she really didn't even know about their policies. Either way, it does not bode well in terms of my confidence in the establishment and, of course, their ability to give quality care to my priceless fur-babies.. Moreover, it does not bode well that they only offer spay/neuter insurance for cats less than six months of age. Any responsible vet or breeder will tell you that you should NOT IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM netuer or spay a cat before six months, because it will impede their hormonal growth process and not allow the cat to reach full maturity in a natural way. Needless to say, I left without going on the plan and have no plans to return even to PetSmart to buy supplies. And it is a shame, too, as I have two cats whose health and well-being are my #1 priority and I was planning on giving them some good long term business... read more

This is THE best vet office. The techs are very knowledgeable and Dr. Nyugen is the most caring veterinarian I've ever met. When my dog had severe arthritis in her later years, Dr. Nyugen did not insist on making my dog get up on the exam table. She plopped herself right on the floor and did the examination from there. And when we inevitably had to put my old dog to sleep, Dr. Nguyen was very caring and passionate. The entire office even singed a condolence card and sent it to me, which was very sweet. You very rarely see a veterinarian office that cares about each individual patient anymore. I would recommend this Banfield location to anyone. read more

I JUST HUNG UP with a call from the SAME manager at Framingham I had originally spoke to, who ONLY CALLED BECAUSE THEIR POLICIES DICTATE THAT ANYTIME ANYONE SPEAKS TO THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE OFFICE, THEY HAVE TO RETURN THE CALL. Dont go here!!! They are a rip off , brought my pet here for a while and my dogs info was put into another family members name . Now , When I tried to fix it they are telling me I have to start all over and pay all the fees again , saying just because my dog had an abnormal blood test (7 years ago)that they need to make sure that the plan is right for her .. Its a bunch of Bull because she was just seen there 2 months ago and everything was fine . I will bring her else where, where they aren't always asking for $$ for nothing ! STAY AWAY!!!!!! I usually never write reviews but when you almost kill my diabetic dog, I have to say something. First of all my husband went in today to dispose of our dogs needles for the first time; since I had talked to two women at the front desk two days previously about it. First off they took our disposal box but never told us that it's a $45 fee for a new disposal box. Which I can somewhat understand the fee (even though I pay all my vet fees too), however the staff should be trained enough to mention it when I had asked about it the first time. Secondly, after my husband asked the women at the front desk for her manager, one of the doctors came out and proceeded to call him a woman (which I feel is highly offensive and very unprofessional, especially from a trained medical professional) and tell him there's nothing she can do about it. And this is not the first time I've had problems with them either. Just a few days ago I brought my dog in to get her teeth cleaned, (after I had set up the appointment and then confirmed it the day before) about an hour and a half after I had dropped her off they called to tell me they couldn't do the procedure. Apparently she was only supposed to have half of her normal insulin that morning, but none of the staff felt the need to mention that to me, either time I talked to them about it. They got so far as to almost put the IV in her before they noticed any of this!!! They could have killed my dog but I'm supposed to just be okay with that and rearrange our schedules and reschedule her teething cleaning, all because the staff is too incompetent to read a chart! Then about a month before that incident I had to reschedule her normal doctor's appointment THREE times all because the vet was either not there that day or because he was scheduled to be in surgery all day. And twice I had already driven there to find this out. I would think the staff should know when the doctors will and will not be there. But I guess not. Save your self the money, time and harassment and don't even bother with Bandfield. read more

Banfield in Shoppers World is the best vet I have ever been to, and I've had pets my whole life!! Dr. Regante is kind, knowledgeable, and will take the time to explain anything, no matter how complicated. Marcy is a terrific manager, she understands how much we love our animals and keeps in touch throughout their procedures and during their aftercare. And of course, we love Rosa, too. Dr Feld told me that I am a bad dog owner because I didn't immediately schedule surgery for my dog for an injury that she may or may not have had (he decided she should have surgery by moving her leg around), and told me that because I didn't care about her enough, she would never walk again. Lo and behold, she walks fine. They also told me that my dog has kidney disease, and she does NOT. I paid for prescription food, and didn't allow my dog to have treats for two years, worrying every day about my dogs health because of this, when there is literally nothing wrong with her. What dicks. Dr Nguyen is fine, but seriously... lying to people about their pets health while telling them that theyre bad parents is so effed up that I can't even express how much I dislike these people. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. They lack the knowledge they should require AND WILL ROB YOU. Started a plan for my dog back in March. He would get regular checkups, they'd answer some of my concerns when I had them until they didn't. My dog suddenly lost all his weight, and quickly too. I brought these concerns to Banfield Pet Hospital and they assured me he was healthy and that he just needed a prescribed food. He soon became so thin he was skin and bones so I rushed him to the emergency hospital and they sent him over to Woubern. They immediately mentioned cancer and how they see this happen when dogs have cancer and we soon found out he indeed did have cancer. Months after his death, Banfield Pet Hospital continued to rack up a charge and will continue to charge me for a dog who is no longer with us. They will charge me for the rest of the year for service they lacked to do. I haven't even mentioned my other dog who had a plan with them as well but the automatic payments weren't automatic and instead of anyone letting me know any of those times I went in for my dogs checkups, they instead kept it quiet till it was sent to a third party collector and I got a letter in the mail for a $600 debt notice for service I haven't received since June. I definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND. Take it from me, I have no choice but to pay these bs fees but once they're paid, I'm NEVER GOING BACK. read more

Now I'm only talking about the Banfield in Framingham. (I have been to others and not that great an experience) How ever I can not say enough fabulous things about the Banfield in Framingham, Ma. They have taken care of my last pooch and the one I have now. They are so friendly and I can see how much they care for my Gizzy Girl currently and Poopsi before that. You can actually see how much they care about the animals as well as there parents. I have recommended people to them and they feel the same way I do. The only reason I would ever stop going there is if I moved, and I'm guessing I will not be able to find a place that would hold a candle to Banfield in Framingham Ma. read more

We had our dog for 16 beautiful years. Would take him to a free clinic to get his shots each year. Only been to Banfield a few times. We always found their service to be good. When our dog started to lose his quality of life we took him to Banfield to be laid to rest. The care we received was exceptional!! It was a very emotional time for our family and the staff was so very caring. The let us spend as much time with him as we needed and for that, I thank you. About a week later, we received a beautiful sympathy card from Banfield and it was hand signed by 8 members of the staff. The fact that they would take the time so send their well wishes is truly heart felt. Thank you for making one of the saddest days in our family's life a little bit easier. read more

I can't believe the reviews that I am reading! I have been going to this place for YEARS (probably 14 or so) and have had very good care for all my animals. The techs that work there are compassionate and knowledgeable, the vets have been great. They call me when I need to make a routine visit; they call me the day after a visit; they are through and the fees are reasonable. We're talking about Framingham, right???? I love these guys. I have 2 cats and a dog, and I had a little dog that lived to 18 1/2 and when we had to put him to sleep, I couldn't ask for a better group to be with us. I entrusted my pet, who had seizures, with medications they prescribed. Yes, I joined wellness program so my pup could get the care, check ups he needed. Ok, so following up, having his toxins screened so often, January, he had dewormer, expressed he needed his bloodwork, oh his toxins are high, we'll lower the meds. No, need for bloodwork, he looks good. Ok, this was mid-January. My dog passed away mid-March. Yup, bc they didn't take a minute to take his bloodwork, if they did- anemia would've shown up, serious one, where it attacks your red blood cells so rapidly. I think they're so inundated with appts they pick and choose, my pup was just 7 yrs old. I had him groomed often and day camps there quite often. Extremely disappointed that management couldn't handle my issue. I question anyone entrusting their love bugs at this establishment. I appreciate the work staff in the store and Daycamp always wonderful but Banfield dropped the ball, and I lost my 7 year old pup, who was my companion, my life, my love. Thanks for nothing. the only reason i will give two stars is because the vet techs are absolutely sweet and my dog loves them. other then that, they have way too many patients clearly. i have a purebred so i know that my dog will get sick often but that doesn't mean i wont get as crazy nervous everytime it happens. one time my dog wouldnt eat for days, and i kept calling trying to make a quick appointment, they told me next monday. NEXT MONDAY HE WILL DIE WITHOUT FOOD BY THEN. come on. other times i will have an app, and i will get right in the room but i will sit there for an hour until the vet actually comes in. AND why do they keep getting new vets. we have had three so far. i like nuygen or whatever, she was sweet and seemed knowledgable. new vet is insistant that my dog has hip/knee displacia. now he's friggen 1 years old.. how does he already have hip/knee displacia?? really?? he's limping because there is something wrong with his FOOT I SEE THE SCAB. i tell her everytime i go in and she just keeps saying that he needs xrays on his knees and hips...thats over $500.00. i'm not putting my dog through that when i can see the friggen cut and scab. again i will recap that the vet techs are awesome and have even argued about who was going to get to check my pup. no worries ladies there is enough of him to go around! i will obviously continue to deal with this because i have a plan and i dont wanna freak my dog out my dragging him somewhere else. also, i have to get my dog neutered at the Spay Waggon because even with my plan they wanted like $500 for the procedure. no thanks. read more
