He had a terrible experience years ago at another vet, so I was very apprehensive about bringing him in. Joy was SO helpful and so understanding over the phone. She gave me a game plan to bring him - with the least amount of distractions for him. I already felt so much better about the visit before we got there. We got there today and let me just say.. WOW! They. Were. Absolutely. Amazing. Dr. Haines and the nurse Mackenzie - were already in the exam room waiting for us, treats in hand. They were so welcoming that he warmed up to them immediately. Puppers didn't even need his muzzle- which he was THRILLED about- because he hates it! We now have a plan moving forward, to get him all fixed up and I'm beyond happy. Let's just say- when we got back to the car- I sobbed! I was so relieved and happy!! Then I came straight here to leave this review! And I will leave it on every site I can!! Maybe I'm the one who needs the meds to relax Seriously - I 2845891% recommend this place if you have an anxious pet like mine!

She called after hours to inform me (let the record reflect I am a VERY very anxious dog parent) about everything and was very realistic about how things went. We are new to the area from Virginia Beach and always do our research as again my husband I are just picky with where we bring her. I honestly could not love this practice more!

Then, I contacted VetMed & they were able to get us in to get our boys on heart worm meds within a few days. Much to my surprise, Dr Gables also has Frenchies of his own & was well-versed in the breed which really put my mind at ease. We've been back a few times for some minor issues & the staff has always been accommodating, friendly, and really takes the time to explain what needs to be done, and discusses cost with you up front. While vet care can be on the pricy side sometimes, I appreciate the time that is spent at this clinic. They really make you feel like family.

I went to Affordable Veterinary Care where they used eye fluroscein to determine my cat had allergies for $155 with the medication included. Vetmed will upcharge you and perform unnecessary procedures to grab a buck. Responding to your comment: the doctor did not know if it was allergies or what was going on with the eye because no tests were done. We opted out of the $600 sedation and $250 tear lab. The other doctor was able to determine it was allergies and not a scratch because they did the fluorscein drops and asked follow up questions. Instead of sedating my cat they wrapped a towel around him. I appreciated the doctor doing the exam in front of me instead of bringing Bean to another room where I can't see how he's being handled (like VetMed does).

Seriously, so sweet. Getting to hear them wake my big scaredy shepherd mix up from being sedated (he is very dramatic and refuses to let anyone touch his paws so he has to be put to sleep for nail clips) warmed my heart I am so happy my mom told me about this clinic, I cannot say enough nice things about everyone! Hands down the most helpful vets I have ever encountered and you can tell they deeply love and care for the animals that come in to see them. They made sure all of my questions were answered and concerns were heard. Im so pleased! I absolutely adore everyone I met there today. Genuinely beautiful people with beautiful hearts!

We were patients of VCA Animal Hospital of Mount Juliet for nearly 17 years, beginning when we…read moremoved to Mount Juliet in 2009. Over that time, we entrusted them with the care of seven dogs and two cats, through routine care, chronic illnesses like diabetes, Addison's disease, and Cushing's disease, emergencies, and many difficult goodbyes. There were veterinarians there whom we deeply appreciated. Dr. Hornsby was wonderful, and Dr. McKenzie showed extraordinary compassion, including coming to our home when it was time to say goodbye to our sweet Scout. Over the years, however, veterinarians changed frequently, and we often had to start over. We also experienced incidents that raised concerns about consistency of care, attention to medical history, and ultimately our trust in the practice. The final turning point involved our Cabo. Cabo has always been an extremely anxious dog, made worse by traumatic experiences, including the loss of two close companions and surviving the March 2020 tornado that narrowly missed our home. After researching options, we asked Dr. Pennington about trying Prozac. While it was presented as a possible help, the conversation also shifted toward Cabo's "quality of life" and whether it might be time to consider saying goodbye. That was devastating. We understand what it means to assess quality of life--we have had to make that heartbreaking decision before when treatment could no longer help one of our dogs. But Cabo was otherwise healthy and deeply loved; we were seeking treatment for her anxiety, not an end-of-life discussion. We are grateful we pursued treatment. Prozac has been life-changing for Cabo. Her anxiety has significantly improved, and she is now able to handle situations that once overwhelmed her. Seeing her progress reinforced our decision to move her care elsewhere. After nearly 17 years, we realized we needed a veterinary practice where our animals' histories are consistently considered, where we feel they are fully advocated for, and where treatment options are thoroughly explored. Perhaps the most painful part is that after 17 years and nine animals, we stopped scheduling visits and moved our care elsewhere, and no one ever reached out to ask why or how our pets were doing. We will always be grateful to the individual veterinarians and staff who cared for our animals over the years. There were truly wonderful people there. But in the end, we lost something essential when entrusting the lives of our pets to a practice: trust. That is why, after nearly 17 years, we left VCA Animal Hospital of Mount Juliet.

How about the fact that it appears they don't even do the actual medical work as they claim they do? Today I had to put down my kitten who was spayed here just yesterday. When they released her to me, she was very lethargic, and barely could breathe. Bringing her back in today, it turns out she had a collapsed lung likely due to pneumonia, and likely infection relating to kidney issues. As far as I'm aware, no apparent tests were run that would check for any of this beforehand. Additionally, on discharge, the checkup form they gave me indicated that they had checked her respiratory abilities and found no issue. It appears that they did not check for this on release though, as I suspect they would have noticed something was wrong. Unfortunately as a non-trained professional, it was just assumed to be the reaction from the anesthesia. The kitten's condition and breathing was in the same state from the moment I picked her up to the moment she was put down. To make this more frustrating, the clinic also couldn't keep her there to attempt to save her over the weekend, as they didn't have weekend staff. Instead they recommended to pass her off to an ER location that would cost $3000 a day for a chance of her to make a recovery. In the end the hard decision was made to end her suffering, despite her short life lived. Of course there's really nothing the public can do, as the wonderful animal medical system often feels like a massive hustle for the consumer and leaves you with no legs to stand on. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone. I believe there are much better, and cheaper, options in town.
