Began taking my dog here about a year ago. Belong to annual health maintenance plan. Received email confirmation out of the blue confirming an appt next week for comprehensive exam. Problem is I am in Asia on business (13 hours ahead), and there is no ability to contact anyone to reschedule. Voicemail won't take messages, website has no ability to make contact. Only option I can see is by phone during THEIR business hours which is my night. Lack of thoughtfulness does not meet my expectations. Guess they will figure out I'm not coming when I don't show up. read more

I took my dog to Hawthorne, upon the high recommendation of Banfield, for an emergency Banfield felt could not be addressed within their facility in a timely manner. After a 30 minute drive to this alternate facility, my dog climbed out of my truck as my dog, in digestive distress but walking on his own, and walked into the clinic wagging his tell ready for care. After an hour of waiting and $630 later, my dog was returned to me on a gurney which the nurses had to lift into my truck's back seat via a towel, onto the floor board. A 180 from the dog I walked in with (non-responsive). At that exact moment Banfield called me with recommendations for me to hold him there until 7 p.m. for further care without additional reasoning as to why he would be better there verses me hydrating him at home. During my visit at Hawthorne, I was instructed that my dog was backed up and dehydrated. However, his organs looked great. According to them, they flushed his system. They asked if I wanted to leave him overnight for observation. I stated that I could rehydrate him when we got home (30 minute drive back to residency) if that's all it was. There was no mention of the severity of his case nor actions I could take to increase his chances of survival from either a Hawthorne or Banfield (who had contacted Hawthorne to see if a follow-up appointment the following day would be necessary). During my talk with Banfield while my pet was being loaded, they canceled his follow-up appointment. Outside my residency, Hawthorne called to state they'd retained my dog's leash. I looked and ensured that he at least had his collar. After confirmation, I informed them I'd just pick up a new one verses driving back 30 minutes (prolonging my dog's dehydration). They still did not mention the severity of his case or actions I could take to improve his situation. Upon my return home, my dog was barely responsive and had some stool residue on the towel. He collapsed while climbing out of my truck. I grabbed a bottle of water and gingerly provided him a sip. His breathing went from labored to gurgle. I tried to clear his throat by raising his head and pressing down on his chest, once; he threw up dark liquid and passed away in my arms. Within 10 minutes of arriving home, he was gone. Reviewing and Binging his billing information from Hawthorne, they had administered "Enema Minor". Bing - "A pet enema treatment assists with constipation, dehydration, or bowel irritation caused by the ingestion of spoiled food or foreign objects by flushing out the colon and provide fluid therapy. Cases of dehydration are caused by colon absorption of the fluid and administering enemas can help stop fluid retention if administered every few hours. Dehydration caused by vomiting/diarrhea, an enema reintroduced fluids and electrolytes into the pet, that have been lost. I was only informed that he was dehydrated and nothing to the severity of his dehydration level. My dog was a large breed who, based off of the results rendered when we returned home, he was NOT treated in the manner that would save his life by Hawthorne. He and I were set up for his premature death. A result of veterinarian malpractice/lack of care for the pet but eagerness for them take my money and price gouge me to the extent that I would permit while trying desperately to save his life. My dog was like a four year old son and, now, he is gone. Banfield's policy Plan doesn't even transfer over to Hawthorne, there is no known respective agreement between these two facilities, and they obviously do not communicate well with one another or the customers they serve. I am now locked into paying another 10 months for my optimal plan with Banfield (as it is the lesser of costs between contract and procedures already performed) though I fault them in part for not trying any hydration procedures on my pet prior to sending me to a facility with poor reviews on Yelp for price gouging/misleading customers/death of animals/poor veterinarian procedures and only good reviews over euthanasia of owner pets/letters of condolences. It was due to reading said Yelp reviews that I opted to discontinue my services with Hawthorne as the pet appointment lingered onwards and wanted to ensure the safety of my dog's life verses waking up to a he's dead phone call from Hawthorne the next morning. If you truly love your pet, do NOT take your pet to Hawthorne, regardless of what Banfield states. Do your own search and what's right for your pet. Emergency or not. read more

I want to say first I have had dogs all my life and have been to several vets. This is worse ver/hospital I have ever been too. Not only are the waits to in store long but also to get seen for no reason. They are also one of the least intelligent vets I have ever experienced. I brought my chihuahua and yorki mix in to be seen for a uti. I knew it was a uti from personal experience and home testing. Cindy is my dogs name she, was perfectly content when we got there and when she went back. Cindy was held for 9 hours. What do you think they did for that nine hours with her? Literally nothing helpful. They gave my dog a whole bunch of water and locked her in a cage. When she didn't go pee; the vets poked my dogs bladder with a needle (without my permission or consent). I had no idea of anything until calling for the third time that day. Cindy was dropped off at 7:45am. I didn't get her back until I called at 4pm and told them I'm demanding her release I need antibiotics and pain meds now. This is unacceptable. At that time they informed me we got her to go pee on a walk but were unable to catch her pee? Excuse me; you were only supposed to do one thing. Run her urine and confirm I'm right. How are you vets and are unable to collect a urine sample from literally a toy dog? Why was my dog so scared? She has never held her pee for nine hours. She has potty training issues hence why I brought her in.. Even with not being able to do anything they charged me 100$. Initially it was $146 for the urine sample and examination without medication. So for 100 you just gave me meds and petrified my dog? Not only is this company high in prices for no reason they have plans/insurance plans for dogs that just scam you out of your money. The employees at the front desk also have an attitude with the customers. If you are trying to be secure and safe on where your pet goes don't go her they have no windows allowing you to see your pet and they don't call you for updates; if you want one you probably have to wait hours on the phone. I have no idea why they are in business or how these vets are employed. All you had to do was attach a bag to her if you couldn't get her to go pee and then walk her. I did an at home test and was able to know it was a uti. I'm not a doctor though so I can't write her antibiotics otherwise, I would've. Horrible experience, horrible place, horrible employees. The early/late hours are a real life saver for me. While we have a regular vet, we are using Banfield more and more often. They treat small animals as well as dogs and cats while our regular vet does not. They also are just less expensive overall. Dr. Stueve at this location is just awesome. I really like her a great deal and she is very knowledgeable about the critters she cares for. read more

Genuinely, the nicest and caring staff we've ever met. The took care of our first puppy Ronin as if he was their own. Unfortunately his ailments caused us to be quite frequent customers, each time they would greet him and make sure he was taken cared of, all the way to his untimely passing, which they made it easy for us to deal with. Now that we have our new puppy Odin, he is given the same love and care from the staff. I cannot thank them enough for there service to our little ones. read more

Dangerously incompetent! My son was trying to be responsible and took his 14 month old AKC australian shepherd puppy in to be spayed without telling me.Even though they were told the puppy had all 10 boosters and rabies last week they stated "Those don't count since we didn't do them." and gave her a second dose when she was under. She went from a competent but learning working dog almost ready for agility competition with her brother to deciding if we should put her down.From the day she came home Incontinent,blind,randomly falls over because she has no balance,If you get within a few feet she often panics trying to get away and randomly snaps at the air for no reason.After confronting them they removed the vaccines from the billing and records just so I can't prove legal liability. This is my second encounter with Banfield.The first dog had to be put down. After a simple check up and haircut it would attack anyone that got too close. read more

I have only great things to.say about Banfield. The staff here are amazing. They know our Punkie by name and she gets the best care here. Each of the staff literally get on the floor with our pet and they really treat her with love. I can't imagine going anywhere else! read more

They treat my dog Zoe like a member of the family. I never have to wait at an appointment and the payment plans for preventive care are very affordable and convenient. We took our dog in a few weeks ago to try and figure out what was wrong with her skin, they ran a few tests and determined it was allergies (no cure other than medicine), and discovered she had very severe ear infections. For cost purposes we had to schedule the treatment for the ear infections for a later date...So today we dropped her off this morning to get sedated and have her ears cleaned, they insisted she be there early so they could monitor her after she wakes from sedation. I called at 3 to check on her, and nothing had been done. The vet that normally handled her left, and didn't explain thoroughly what needed done to the vet replacing her. So after i explained what was supposed to happen, the new vet threw a price at me that was double the original price i was told for the treatment. After having to raise my voice and be rather rude (which is not something i do), she agreed to charge the initial cost and said they'd start working on her right now.... How? If she HAD to come in in the morning so she could be monitored for several hours after the sedation, HOW can you sedate her at 3:30 and tell me its fine to pick her up at 5? Our initial experience was great and helpful, but after how they've handled today, we will not be returning. Which is a shame because they really do have great friendly staff and handle animals well. read more

Taking my dogs to this vet was absolutely the worst experience. To start, the staff was not very friendly during our visit. Then, once we were checked in we had to wait in the very small examination room for over 30 minutes. Once the doctor came in, she took our dogs one at a time into a back room to give them their shots and do the examination. I asked if I could go back with her because my one dog in particular gets very anxious and I was told "no" that I was not allowed. I was sickened by this. My dogs are like my children and are treated as such. The fact that they had to go to this room by themselves is, in my opinion, like sending a small child who can not speak into a doctor's office by themselves. I don't think many parents would allow a doctor to do this to their child so why would it be okay for a vet to do this with your pet? I have been to many vets through the years with various animals I have had and I have never had an experience as terrible as this. While the vet was supposedly examining my dogs, an assistant came out and tried to sell us a wellness plan for our dogs. I didn't mind the option being offered but the more the assistant and later the vet talked about the plan it was quite clear that this was no more than a sales pitch and it began to seem like they made some type of commission off selling this product. The vet then started telling us of an issue she noticed with one of our dog's teeth. Immediately after telling us that there was an issue, she very presumptuously asked when we wanted them to start treatments for this issue. These treatments were expensive and would require my dog to stay the night. I was very alarmed by this approach and once again felt like she was giving us a sales pitch because she gave us very little time to process the information and expected us to sign up for this treatment without a second opinion or without further investigation. During this visit, it became clear to my husband and me that this vet and clinic does not put the feelings and wellbeing of your animal or the owner first. I was absolutely disgusted by the entire experience and I would never go back again. This occurred over a month ago and when I think about it, the entire experience still makes me a little sick to my stomach. . read more

I adopted my first rescue pet and took him to get trimmed at pet smart. There was a Banfield clinic in there and I went over to make an appointment (it was an anal gland thing) I paid $197 for the expressing. They pushed a wellness plan on me and said I could make payments and this was in January. I deployed to Iraq at the end of january and never told my wife of the plan to start taking the dog there, so the dog never used the services. I returned in April and my wife had Banfield bill collectors calling her on a regular basis and she would not pay for something she did not use. When I tried to resolve this I had to pay late charges and bring an account up to date that I never used totaling $250.00, then I said I wanted to opt out of the service and they said they would not let me do that as I had signed up for 12 months of service. Keep in mind I never used the service but they thretend me with credit reporting, I paid them off with $300.00 and still have not nor will I ever go back there again. Every chance I get, I tell people how this serviceman was extorted by this company. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THE WELLNESS PLAN. IF YOU WANT TO OPT OUT OF IT THEY HOUND YOU LIKE A CRIMINAL. read more
