So I went there to go get my Cat checked out just to make sure she's ok. They took her and the examination only took 20 mins and they said she was fine. A month later my cat is still vomiting and has issues and they put completely incorrect information on her paperwork and find out they didn't even perform any tests or bloodwork on her. My dog suddenly passed away on May 11, 2020. She passed away at home and not knowing who to call, we turned to Banfield (Pelham) in which she had been a member for many years. A staff member said it was ok to bring her in. We agreed and inquired about crematory services. The options were haphazardly explained but emotions were high and we still proceeded to head over. With tears in our eyes and our little one's body in a pet carrier, we handed her over to a young woman who took her into a back room. Not once did a staff member, veterinarian, nurse or technician come to greet us and offer condolences or even ask if we'd like a brief final moment in a room - nothing. After my mom and I got a clearer response on what your vendor, Regency, offered for cremation services, we paid and left. About a week or so later, I arrived again to pick up the cremains. I was handed a bag and dismissed with a cheerful "Have a nice day" as the next customer approached. There was nothing "nice" about losing a pet you adored and cared for; for 13 years and getting her cremains handed to you in a gift bag. Our dog was a long time member on a plan at the hospital and literally in her final moments it felt like no one cared. In contrast, if I was ever accidentally late on a payment my phone rang off the hook from robo calls requesting money. Banfield cared then, yes? I see now where the company's priorities lie and in the future, I can't say for sure if I will use Banfield as a provider. Other pet wellness companies with which we had significantly less dealings had so much more compassion in the following days as I worked to cancel various pet related accounts. Their emails and cards went a long way to bring a bit of comfort during a sad time. Banfield: *crickets* silence. nothing. Not even a card. I guess, another day..another dollar. I took my fifteen year old dog to Banfield in Yonkers for a ear infection he been having since he got older . they give him Posatex for the infection and it only works for a while then he gets it again in a few months. The vet said he needed to do a test that had to be sent away for 250 dollars to see what was really wrong never got the results was given the same medication again vet never called to give and results . I do not believe there was any test done and its been two weeks and never got a call I been coming here for 15 years its got worse over the years its seems its all about the money not the care of the animals . first time we came here my daughter and i we had to wait on line, the place is clean and the staff were friendly, we saw our dog's name on the board and who the vet is taking care of him, our dog is aggresive but when he heard his name, the staff took the leash and he walked with her like nothing LOL. we couldn't go inside with our dog though. she brought him back to us, he had ear infections in both ears, and he has his vaccination shots also, we told the vet he is aggresive and has anxiety, she prescribed him pills and medication for his ears. we did the wellness plan, it came out to 275.00 dollars. i've been reading the reviews and though what customers may have said about this place? we're coming back here again for his follow up. read more

I used to really thing highly of this pet hospital however as of recently I have become frustrated. I have a wellness plan for both of my dogs they are shih tzus. Over the course of 3 months I have expressed growing concerns for one of my dogs eye, which appeared to be infected. I have 3 visits with them and the first two they barely even looked at my poor Sophie's eye. Dr.Persaud gave me a referral to an ophthalmologist and told me my dogs eye was pigmented. I'm on my third visit I saw Dr. Sheffield and once again expressed my concerns. Dr. Sheffield informed me of two test that can determine if my dog had ulcers In her eye or suffered from dry eye. I obviously opted to have the test done and it was determined my dog has a dry eye condition. Dr. Sheffield gave me medicine for her eye and she has been doing a lot better. THIS IS THE MOST HORRIBLE BANFIELD PET HOSPITAL. Do not recommend AT ALL!!! You will just be wasting your time in this location. If there were an option to give it ZERO STARS I WOULD!! That's how bad this location was. I'm The location at Harlem is 110 percent BETTER! They have horrible wait times, and the workers try to upgrade your plan for their benefit. My pet was scheduled for a dental appointment. Our travel time was 1 hour, just for us to get to the PetSmart and have them tell us that they cannot do the dental unless we upgrade our wellness plan. Then the worker tells us they made a mistake, and she can receive her dental appointment. We drop her off at the hospital. Not a few minutes later, we receive a call to inform us that they cannot make a dental appointment. That was a complete waste of time. Given the circumstance, we decide to have our pet be given her vaccinations. We were told that we had to leave her and they would give her, her vaccines. For a dental appointment, dogs are not allowed to eat in the morning. My dog was not given a dental appointment and has not eaten all day. This place is not worth it. We decide to check-in after 4 hours and are told that they STILL HAVENT GIVEN HER THE VACCINES. Are you serious? It's just a vaccine. She should have been ready, HOURS AGO. The hospital lists it's hours, opening at 7am M-Sat. I raced my choking kitten into the hospital at about 8:30am yesterday morning, only to be told by an apathetic employee that there was no doctor in and to try my luck somewhere else. She offered NO assistance, seemed to not even like animals and could care less that I was holding a kitten in my arms that couldn't breathe. HIGHLY UPSET DOG MOM It is with deep sadness that I write this review. I have been coming to the Pelham Manor location in NY since my baby was 4 months old (he will be 4yrs young this fall). Today I was scheduled for an 8:30am appointment for a routine yearly shot. Normal protocol during COVID, would be as follows: I check in, the staff would lead my baby directly to the examination area, and shortly after he would be brought back to me for check out. However, today I was greeted with a muzzle and told I needed to place this over my child's face. HE HAS NEVER WORN A MUZZLE NOR HAS HE EVER BEEN GIVEN ONE TO WEAR IN HIS FOUR YEARS GOING TO THIS LOCATION! The frustration that proceeded for the next hour and a half (yes you read that correctly) resulted in us never being seen for one shot and the absolute worst experience I have ever had. My baby refused to keep the tighter muzzle on, so a larger one was provided, which was too big. Here comes the worst part and this is where names start dropping and a little back history. When my fur baby was young there was a vet who made a disturbing comment about Pitbulls and after that day, I made sure he NEVER came in contact with her. To my surprise, todayI was told his last appointment (which was in May of 2021) he was seen by this particular vet and in her notes she stated he needed to be muzzled in order to restrain him for his aggressive behavior. MIND YOU I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES WITH HIM RECEIVING SHOTS OR ANY CARE AT ANY POINT. I write to say that I will never be returning and it truly makes me sad because there are so many techs who have loved on my dog since day one, some who still have photos in their phones over the years and I still can't even fathom how a location who I have trusted for years explained that my dog needed to be tranquilized in order to be able to given a shot because he was so stressed and his heart was racing. OF COURSE IT WAS RACING.... I HAD TO ATTEMPT TO FORCE SOMETHING AROUND HIS SWEET FACE AND HE WAS CONFUSED ON WHY I WAS DOING IT!! How would you feel?! I have loved Dr. Persaud this entire time she has seen my baby and I'm unsure what happened this morning and what was so different when he never even made it through the door, so disappointed is an understatement. I'm even more upset that he was seen without my knowledge by a vet (Dr. Dossena) who I specifically ask to never come in contact with my dog each and every appointment and because of her notes, this literally created my dog to become so anxious and could barely breathe because he was absolutely terrified of a muzzle..... The only positive thing I can say is thank you to the tech Briana (I hope this is the correct spelling). She was the only one who thoroughly read his notes of where my baby is a sweet chunk of love and I thank you so much for that. She supplied the tissues to dry my tears after my emotional breakdown from this horrific almost 2hour appointment that never even happened. I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart because that was the worst service and you were the only one who made it as good as it was going to get. I will never be back and I will be canceling my subscription to Banfield forever. I have always done research prior to enrolling my baby in all things such as his daycare/boarding facility, all the way to his groomer who I travel for out of state. Clearly I will be starting my journey of finding another Veterinarian who loves Pitbulls just as much as all of his caretakers do. I pray no one else EVER has to experience what I did today!!! FYI Dr. Dossena is no longer practicing here, so it made it worse that whatever notes she wrote from my baby's last appointment, these are the notes everyone will read going forward and I think that is a tragedy..... Please do better and listen to owners and also remind yourself of your own experience from dealing with an animal. If there are ever any problems, have a discussion with the owner so that way the best decision can be made for future reference. Yesterday, 9/24, I had the worst pit in my stomach due to the irresponsible staff at Pelham Banfield. My 13 year old, very active silky terrier was dropped off at 7am this morning for a routine cleaning. I called and spoke to someone around Noon and they told me he was doing well but wasn't ready for pick up. I called several times throughout the afternoon to check on him to no avail. Banfield's phone rang and went to voicemail. I tried to reach the Pet Smart and no one answered until I finally made it home at 7:30pm. I was on pins and needles wondering what had gone wrong and why No one had contacted me. I finally reached the store manager who told me that Banfield and PetSmart are separate But she would try to help me. She went in the back to Speak to someone at Banfield and they told her my dog was not there, he was picked up at 7:22pm! What? By whom? This is ridiculous, I thought. Who has my dog!!! I got in my car and drove to Banfield, planning to call the police. This is the worst experience I've had with this establishment and it will be my last! The person that I spoke to told me that he was indeed picked up by someone but couldn't give me a name. I told her that no one was authorized to pick him up except for my mother and father and neither of them had him. Where is my dog? She put me on hold, came back and told me that he was there and apologized for the mixup. She told me that the vet already checked Frankie out because the treatment he received was covered under his insurance. What? So you had no record of my dog? Forget that I've been calling all day and night worried and concerned about my beloved pet. Forget that he was dropped off at 7am, haven't eaten since the night before and didn't eat all day because of the mixup, he was picked up at 8:30pm!!!! Poor thing was starving and ate a whole bowl of dog food, despite the dental cleaning. No one answered the phone! Is this a business establishment or what? I asked Banfield for an explanation/apology from Management - the doctor on staff last night, 9/23 sent a message via a staff member that they were handling emergencies and gave me a $15 coupon and a card with the name Lindsay, Manager to call tomorrow. Really? I started writing this at 8:43pm and am still fuming this morning. Bye- when I picked up Frankie, someone came out and handed him to us and then a "Nurse" spoke to me about after care for his dental cleaning- I did not receive a printout if his treatment. This is unacceptable. No customer service, this is not the way to run a business. If you love your pet, take him to a reputable Vet and not a franchise with a Veterinary revolving door! I will cancel my pet insurance with Banfield and pay for real pet insurance and take my dog to a legitimate, certified, accredited Vet like Hartsdale Veterinary, they are amazing! And by the way, do not under any circumstances allow Banfield Pelham to perform surgery on your pet. It's not worth the risk! read more

My whole family was heartbroken. Bruce had been our pet, companion, partner in crime, guard cat, and possibly my best friend, for about 17 years. I knew he was at the end of his journey. Still didn't make visit any easier. I knew it was a one way trip for him. From first contact with the front desk, we were treated with kindness and compassion. The area was busy, but we were not waiting long at all. The techs were extremely caring. The last few minutes together were full of love, and tears. The vet seemed like a gentle angel. I'm sorry I've lost her name in my foggy old mind. Despite being busy, we were not rushed along at all. We were contacted as soon as we could bring his remains home, and the presentation of his ashes were impeccable. Surprisingly enough, I asked for a ballpark cost, and that was the total amount. Exactly. No shenanigans at all. His interment vessel is a beautiful wood container. I have not a single grievance about this establishment. Nothing but praise and thanks from this family. 1 star only because I have to in order to post! Horrible experience! I will not bring my dog or any dog to this place. I was recommended to try banfield by a friend and a family member. We also met one of the vet techs while visiting Petsmart. The vet tech we initially met was cordial, seemed knowledgeable and quickly build a rapport with our dog. We set an appointment and went. We saw a different vet tech and the horrible experience began. Overall, our dog was not treated right and he will not return there. The vet tech did not build a rapport with our dog. We were not able to go their back with him and we heard him choking in the back. I proceeded to walk towards door and the Vet tech appeared. I demanded to get my dog back and he was not brought back right away. When tech brought our dog back, he was coughing!!! I was livid and the vet came out to apologize for the "miscommunication" and also said they have to muzzle the dogs for their safety and his. No one informed that he was going to be muzzled and he definitely sounded like he was being choked! I am grateful our dog is resilient and we got him the heck out of there. read more

Pros: We signed up our dog about a year ago, when he was about 4 months old. With the exception of a few, the assistants and Vets are usually pretty friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. Most of them seem to genuinely care about animals. Cons: Administratively, this place is a nightmare. They are woefully understaffed and overbooked. We dread going in for appointments, because it is invariably a 2-4 hour affair. Yes, that's right, we spend an average of about 3 hours every time we take our dog in. My wife is a stay-at-home mom, and does not drive, so weekends are precious errand-days for us, and the waiting gets very painful as the hours waste away. The excuse we always get is that there was an "emergency," which is usually a dog having an adverse reaction to a vaccine. Whether that is true or not is inconsequential, because either way, it points to an staffing/overbooking problem. We were told that weekdays are better, but one Wednesday, when my dog seemed to have something wrong with his eye, my wife called in, and of course, they were booked solid. She was told she should come in as a walk-in at about 2PM, and that there was a good possibility she would be seen. She arranged for a ride, only to get a call an hour later saying the the doctors were in surgery longer than expected, would start seeing afternoon appointments an hour later than expected, and so she should come in for her "walk-in appointment" (?) 2 hours later than originally stated. Our plan is due to renew in about a month or so, but with the experience we've had, and no signs of improvement, I am not sure we will be able to keep the plan for another year. read more

The wait time is always terrible here. But much bigger then that is the terrible spay job and negligence that happened to my puppy. I brought her in to get spayed on September 12th. When I took her home that day she cried all night long in pain. Her incision looked terrible and poorly put together. After sharing the photo with other professionals they said that it looked like they rushed and barely sutured her up correctly. On Friday September 14th I brought her in to be checked (before her weekly checkup) because the incision looked poor and she was having gastrointestinal issues from the medication. The vet said that it was healing fine... Sunday the 16th rolled around and the incision looks open now. It appears to be opening instead of scabbing or closing up. I call the office and they doctor told me that if it's not bleeding and she's not crying in pain or acting funny that she should be fine until her checkup on Wednesday. Again, I sent the pictures of the incisions to other professionals and they agreed that it was not healing properly. So now Monday night comes around and the incision is just insanely terrible looking. My puppy is acting her normal self but this incision is totally open. I call the office and the vet says that I need to see the surgeon for a proper answer because she's the one who cut her open and knows what she did and what to say needs to be done. With that being said, the surgeon is not in until Wednesday and I won't be able to see her until after 5pm. Well when I woke up on Tuesday morning I had enough. I took my puppy and went to the office at 7:20am, knowing that the surgeon would be in and performing surgeries all day. I demanded my dog be seen. Sure enough they took her in and said that the surgeon didn't get in until 9am and that they would have her see my puppy when she got in and call me to let me know what needed to be done. Guess what. They had to reconnect the abdominal wall, cut off dead tissue, and close her back up. Oh and, they made us pay $500 for something that they should have done for free because it was done poorly the first time! When she came home this time they actually stapled it shut like it should have been in the first place instead of just internal sutures and tissue glue! The surgeons excuse for not stapling it the first time was "oh I only use staples for large, active dogs"... my puppy is half husky and at 6 months weighs about 60lbs. The incision looks so clean and put together this time but why was it not done like this the first time around? Why did my dog have to go through this twice in a week?! This sounds like it was their fault from the start! There was no rough housing or foul play on our end. Our puppy was crated and supervised. This is careless and negligent. The best part is that it's impossible to get in contact with anyone higher up. Do not bring your babies to Banfield!!!! read more

I went over the weekend and I was a walk in and they took care of me right away!! The people working there were great and super helpful. The guys were cool. There's this one guy I can't remember his name for anything but he was great. My dog even warmed up to him and my dog absolutely hates everyone. The only problem is the Vet. I've heard he's new and he looked extremely terrified. He spoke very low and was scared to even touch my dog which made my dog even more scared herself. The medicine I was given was great and not to expensive for 4 medications. Also it's working great and my dog feels so much better it's weird. I had a coupon for a free exam so that really saved me some money. I am looking forward to my follow up appointment and possibly signing up for the wellness plan. read more

I took my dog for a check up and a Lyme shot they asked to do it in the back office and not in front of me. I agreed to let them do it. Each time I've tried to make an appointment they're always busy, I think they over book on appointments. They're short on staff, every time I'm here it takes 30 minutes waiting and another 20-40 minutes for a doctor to see you. The whole appointment would take over an hour. The service is horrible. The day after my dog got neutered they called and said he needs a follow up appointment the next week. When I got there they didn't even look at him but made me come down there for no reason. I ask anyone who has a pet and takes them to Banfield in Pelham to not take them there anymore for the safety and good of there own pet. I took my dog there a few days ago. I did a drop off appointment. I later on received 3 different phone calls from Banfield asking me about a dog that wasn't mine. 3 different calls, one of them even being a voicemail from the Doctor from the Vet herself referring to another dog. That is very scary it questions the competence of the people who are working there. To me that's the equivalnt of going in for surgery and having the wrong proecedure done. You give me 3 different calls asking about a pet that isn't mine make a me feel that you don't even know what pet you are working on. Then after finally clarifying that this wasn't my dog and finding out about my dog they told me he was fine and would be ready to pick up in an hour but i would get a call when he was ready. 3 hours later I had not received a call. For over an hour I called and had the phone hung up on me at least 5 times and continued to get put on an infite hold. When finally getting thru they were not sure of who I was talking about when asking about my dog. When they finally figured it out they said he was ready. When going in to get him I asked to speak to a manager , the rude answer I got was "we don't have one." I asked who I could speak 2 and got an IDK you can look it up online. I scheduled my free consultation about a month ago. The day of the appointment we went in they happen to have many emergencies and we didn't get seen right away. When the vet did show up she mostly talked about not feeding her natural foods and to sign up for their wellness plan she barely gave my puppy any exam she checked her heart and determined there was nothing wrong which to be honest when I put my hand to it there was something definitely wrong. I had to book another appointment with another vet to get another opinion and when he did check her heart he found she had a murmur. This is serious and the vet at banfield didn't even detect it when it's pretty loud. I will never suggest someone go here the assistant was very helpful but the vet was not very knowledgeable regarding my puppies health. I brought my cat who was showing signs of worms to the banfield clinic in Pelham manor and when I arrived I asked for the offered first time exam and was planning to purchase the right medication for my cat. I have two so I need to treat this issue as soon as possible. I asked the lady at the front desk and she couldn't care less that my cat had worms, told me that I needed to make a appointment and just turned around and continued doing what she was like I wasn't there nor worth the time. I had to ask if I was going to get any help and she said you can make a appointment and when I asked when would it be she said a month later. You guys expect my cats to have worms for a whole month? That's ridiculous for a clinic to tell someone knowing worms can be life threatening without treatment. Never take your animals here if you need them seen. They might as well just tell you they could die for all they care. I rushed for medication that I ended up never getting and now I'm rushing to find a clinic. Thanks a lot for nothing. Don't think I will be coming back to this vet... Last few visits I have waited HOURS and I took my dog in today and the vet did not seem to care for my pet at all. I had many questions and he was not helpful in any way. All he did was brush me off and basically rush me out of his office. Worst experience so far.. Unproffessional staff and long wait hours, I am extremely disappointed and do not wish to come back to this place. read more

I brought my cat in today (Sunday) when I know that other vets probably won't be open. I was first in the door. The cat seems to be having problems urinating. I was told that they can't do that and that I would have to bring my cat to an animal emergency hospital...even though the cat is not in distress. I couldn't believe it. Why the call themselves a hospital is beyond me. I will never come here again for my other cat and my dog. read more

Horrible! Horrible! Horrible!!! very unprofessional the vets are not qualified. I purchased the wellness plan for my puppy and it was impossible to get an appointment and when I did they would have me wait no less then an hour and a half to see a unqualified vet who I had to suggest diagnosis of my dog because they could not figure out what was wrong. Tried to get her spayed 3 times with an issue every time finally had to go somewhere else. They don't administer shots in front of you which is totally ridiculous. my dog had a somewhat serious skin abrasion that needed medication, they told me to come right away had me wait for 2 1/2 hours till they told me to come back the next day, I protested, so they had a vet tech come out into the lobby and take a picture!! of the abrasion to get a diagnosis from the vet inside who couldn't take two minutes to come out and look his or her own self.... need I say more? read more
