This honestly has to be a joke. I've never dealt with a more disorganized and unprofessional vets office in my life. We've been trying for a week to get our puppy in here to finish enrollment in one of their "wellness" plans that they'll never push on everyone and it's been so incredibly frustrating. Twice now we've had to deal with appointments made online not showing in their system, then when we finally get one in their system, we end up dealing with multiple phone calls because they want to keep changing his appointment to meet their staffing needs. Less than 24 hours before his appointment they call to ask if we can reschedule to an earlier time, it's not ideal, but I can take a bit of time off work to make it happen so I agree. Then the morning of his now rescheduled appointment they call again asking if we can move it to a completely different day because they don't have staff. Seriously??? You want me to rearrange my entire calendar because your office can plan staffing? I tell them I'll have to call back after speaking with my spouse, and when I call back I immediately get put on hold. Hung up after 10 minutes of being on hold. I get being short staffed, but if you don't have the staff to ensure that you can take in patients then don't advertise and hard sell an expensive annual plan that customers will never be able to use. Our dog was never actually seen by anyone at this office, we've decided to find a more professional and reliable vet in the area to care for our puppy, if this is our experience as a potential new customer I can only imagine how much worse it gets once they have you locked into an annual plan. TLDR: I would steer clear of Banfield in Silverdale, save yourself the time and money and find an actual vets office in the area. read more

Pet care over 16 years was good , the problem with Banfield is their heath wellness plan. The plan has an auto rollover, in its self not a problem. The problem is you must continue to pay for the entire year, as in my case the plan roll over began in June and my dog passed away in July. So they want payments until June of next year. So I'm paying $87.95 per month for 10 months a total of $879.50 for nothing. This is not right, this is plain and simple corporate greed. Beware of this if you consider Banfield. read more

Last July, I took my cat, Lily, in to see Dr. Thrasher at Silverdale, Banfield to get a care plan. When I took her in, I told the doctor she was not drinking water and was eating less and I was very concerned. They gave her fluids and took blood work (apart of the plan), and said the blood work came back normal. I wasn't sure why she wasn't drinking water and asked the doctor if I should/could still get her a care plan with this issue. They said I still should since the blood work was already taken (and would be charged for it), but if she still wasn't eating/drinking, to call and they would prescribe her an appetite stimulator. The next two days, she still hadn't eaten or drinken anything, and so the doctor prescribed an appetite stimulator. 15 minutes after taking it, Lily passed out, and I rushed her to the emergency vet. The emergency vert retook blood work and noted that she was incredibly dehydrated. The blood work indicated she had a UTI and high iron in her blood (which Banfield's blood test did not find). Then an X-ray indicated she was constipated with a likely GI problem. After an entire day at the emergency vet, we took her home. We had two more days with her until taking her back to the emergency vet, in which she indicated the same issues, and she died. She died five days after taking her to the Banfield in Silverdale and signing her up for a care plan. According to Banfield policy, we cannot cancel the plan since her blood work cost more than the cost of the yearly plan, therefore we will have to continue paying for Lily's care plan until next July. There's no way to know if Lily would still be here if Banfield had done more. However, the entire process was incredibly frustrating and I would not recommend this hospital. read more

I've been a Banfield Client since my dog was 3 months old and have had a wellness plan since then but recently they've been calling me to schedule an appointment then claiming I owe $560 because of unpaid monthly payment for 8 months (?!) which was then sent to collections due to expired credit card on file. While at the clinic , the receptionist told me that I had an outstanding balance that I need to pay, after paying the full amount they told me that they wont be able to see my dog unless I will pay the cost of the current appointment. and I asked why? I just learned later that my plan was also cancelled. I've been a loyal Banfield client until now that my dog is turning 15 years old next month but recently they made errors by not contacting me to update my my credit card payment information which they would usually do for the past 15 years and then sending my account to collections without notifying me including cancelling my wellness plan without my knowledge. Please , don't trust Banfield , after so many years of being with them, they will just let you down when you most need them. This Banfield location seriously needs to add more staff members and start taking customer service more seriously. They don't answer the phone and don't reply to voice mails. It's impossible to get an appointment or same-day care even for long-term customers with sick pets. My experience with other Banfield locations has been more positive than with the Silverdale location. read more

I had been with Banfield Pet Hospital for years, with multiple pets. Dr Guzman is such a nice man. Unfortunately, my visit for my large dog's inability to eat didn't go to well. Dr Guzman, I believe, had a fear of her intimidating jaws and therefore his exam never involved looking in her mouth. It wasn't until she passed away a week later that I discovered she had an object stuck in her throat and couldn't swallow. If only someone has looked...sigh read more

Banfield cared for our pets throughout their lives (21 year old cat, 19 year old cat, 13 year old dog) and we never had a problem. Dr. Guzman treated our cats and dogs like they were his own. Dr. Crawford made our 13 year old German Shepherd comfortable during his waning years. And Dr. Lemme was always compassionate. As far as the front desk staff, they always tried to keep our animals calm. Banfield was like family. If we get more pets, we'll go back to Banfield. read more

Today I brought my dog and cat into Banfield to have bloodwork pulled from my animals for rabies antibody testing so I can being my animals into Hawaii for a Navy Transfer. 3 weeks ago I gave them paper work specifically that had instructions for them on how to prepare and ship the blood samples. Those instructions where specifically left with them for them to be prepared when the time had come to withdrawl the blood and send it to the lab. They did not keep the paper work for the testing and in result they were not ready to prepare the bloodwork which would of cost be around $75 a pet to get the bloodwork done, and instead pretty much forced me to spend $275 per pet to have a lab that was significantly more expensive to complete the testing. They were totally set up for success, and flushed it down the toilet and in turn cost a customer to spend 5 times the amount that was required. read more

Dr. Guzman is great. I'd give him a 5 star, but I've never been too impressed with their front desk staff. Some need a lesson or two on customer service. We've been taking our dogs there since they were 12 weeks old (mostly because of how great Dr. Guzman is and their insurance plan). Recently, one of our dogs past away at age 16. She past away on New Years Day and I called multiple places to see where I can take her to get cremated. All the places I had called were very compassionate, expressing their sympathy for our loss. Upon going to Banfield to notify them of my dog's passing and to cancel her insurance plan. The lady at the front desk showed no compassion at all. All she said was she couldn't help me and gave me a business card with a 1-800 number to call to cancel my insurance policy. Maybe she was just having an off day, but I didn't appreciate her insensitivity. read more

Go Some where else...Complete chaos with their front office staff. We scheduled a spay for our Bella after a visit. They called a few weeks later saying Loki is due to come in for his Neuter...emmm No we didn't schedule him because he will be to extensive you said and we are going to wait till he is older or get another opinion. But do you all have Bella down for her spay on 28th? Let me check she said...NO but no worries their is PLENTY of room..pretty far away still. Month later we go to vacation and come back. Calls on my voicemail Bella is come in for her SPAY a day WE didnt book during vacation....UGGG ok call them 2 days ago...oh no worries that was a mistake they must have forgot to remove the wrong one your still booked on the 28th. No worries...CALL this morning from them... your being cancelled...you missed your last two appointments...NO NO we didnt...We one never scheduled Loki two you all put down the wrong date and booked her twice...Well we are still over booked and your the last one booked...NO I wasn't when I scheduled over a month ago their was still several openings...Lady was rude and why in the world would you call just after 7am to discuss something like this...GOING BACK to Marina Vet in Poulsbo...Sunday appts are not that important to us... read more

I see Dr. Crawford and he is great. My dog has Addison and stress can literally kill her. Dr. Crawford sits with her on the floor and calms her with his gentleness and patients. I've been with Banfield for 20 years and have always been extremely happy with their service. I need to add that I travel and have visited Banfield Hospitals throughout California, and Nevada. Walked into a nice office, greeted by a wonderful receptionist and then Vet tech. AS SOON as Dr (Rude) Crawford came in, it went downhill fast.. she was so judgy and rude and acting like I'm speaking like a SIMS character when I would ask her a question, her only excuse for herself and her behavior was "Oh, I don't usually work at this location " meaning she can't work on the computer which is fine but instead of making me pull out my phone to try and calculate the total myself, go get someone else who can help explain it instead of being condescending and rude. She left the room I started balling crying. WORDS OF ADVICE FOR Dr RUDE CRAWFORD, ITS NOT HARD AT ALL TO BE EMPATHETIC AND IF YOU CAN'T EVEN FAKE IT THEN FIND A NEW JOB!!! Going to the vet is hard and stressful on my dog enough now we are both stressed. Thank you again to Laura the receptionist and the male tech that helped me and genuinely cared. I hope you get called out on being wonderful at your job!! You all made up for what that doctor lacked ALOT! If it wasn't for you all I would have lost it! If you are reading this, whatever you do. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE. A few years ago we rescued a cat and we were not told that he needed to be on a special diet for urinary tract health. One day...our cat stopping using his box...and we had to find a vet fast. This was the only place (we THOUGHT) was open. We took our cat in, and the vet tech took him into the back of the "hospital" to examine him. A few minutes later she comes out holding him which hes SCREAMING and POOPING ALL OVER THE PLACE for NO reason. I still to this day have no idea why she was in the waiting room with him, standing there "oh its ok..nothing is wrong with him". Meanwhile I'm about to burst into hysterics because I see my poor cat suffering. Anyways, to make this somewhat short....he had a urinary blockage. They take us into this room with a vet so he can talk to us.. our cat is in his carrier with vomit all over his carrier. They act like its no big deal. After all is said and done he will have to stay over night and it will cost about $1,000.00 That's FINE with us because they saved him..although since we're not vets we're not really sure how life threatening the situation was. We pick him up the next day, and they left the vomit in his crate from the day before...seriously? You couldn't clean it out. SO yeah, don't take your pets here...go anywhere else! read more

We adopted our boy from the Humane Society and this was listed on the paperwork as a place that waives the office visit cost for adopted animals. We are moving in 2 months so I just wanted to get his nails clipped, have him looked over and get his 2nd needed vaccination. The ladies at the front desk were very nice when I checked in. They issue I ran into was with the vet technician. She took us back to the room where she proceeded to try to sell me 2 different care plans, a vaccine that he really didn't need and some kind of genetics testing. I felt like I was at a car lot, not a veterinary office. When it came time to meet with the vet I asked if the vet would be coming to the room and she told me no, she would take him back to get his nails clipped because she thought I didn't need to be there and the doctor would check him out in the back. I said no, I prefer to be with him in the room when they clip his nails and I have questions for the vet. So she said fine and went to get the vet. The vet was very nice. I mentioned in the visit that we don't really do treats and the tech proceeded to constantly give him treats. Even the vet apologized for the upset stomach he would most likely have. I helped while they clipped his nails because my boys is 70 lbs and scared of his own shadow and this tech kept pushing his head down and holding his mouth closed until I told her he needed a break. She was unacceptably rough with my dog, tried to tell the vet when she thought his nails were short enough and would not stop talking about her marriage and her own animals. She also argued with me that the visit wasn't free until the ladies at the front desk told her it was. Not impressed with this tech at all. I honestly don't know how this business is even run because she unprofessionally monopolized the entire visit where I couldn't even speak with the vet about my dogs mule foot. read more

I highly recommend to anyone to not use this vet or banfield wellness plans. My dog has some very serious health problems, and while the vet decided to hunt and peck for a solution (at the tune of nearly $1000) she got so bad we had to have her put to sleep. Before making this painful decision, we had been taking many videos and attempting to contact the doctor over the course of days when we were all but ignored. The most insulting part of all is that banfield insists on us finishing up the payments on the wellness plan before cancellation. This is a company I genuinely regret doing business with. Just wanted to provide an update. After asking for my contact info, I promptly provided it to banfield. Surprise... still haven't contacted me!!!!! Not a surprise actually since when I called them I was told someone would get back to me...still waiting!!! Come on banfield, own it. Fast forward 6 months...I had to bring my dog back in for a vaccination that should have been done while I was there 6 months ago. I specifically asked for this vaccination back in May and was told she didn't need it; turns out she did! After arguing that I shouldn't have to pay an office visit fee, they told me they would only waive half of the fee. (Thank you to the wonderful lady who helped us and took her time to try and make things right for us! You were awesome!) To top it off, since the vaccination was 6 months overdue, my dog now has to go back in for a booster shot, at my expense! It never ends with these people! If you care at all about your pet, DO NOT take him/her to Banfield! P.S. I will be taking my dog elsewhere to get her booster shot. read more

Everytime I bring one of my dogs here they're given a different diagnosis that is not covered by the wellness plan and needs additional payment. My English bulldog was very healthy and happy when we started his wellness plan. After 2 visits for shots his health started to decline. When I brought him in he was "treated" for different things than I asked them to look at. He was itchy so I asked to have his spots looked at and asked about possible food allergies. I was sold eye ointment and skin wipes. Also told his ears were dirty. I asked about possible ear infection they refused scope and gave ear wash. Only if the ear wash didn't clean his ears properly he'd get an ear scope. The next week he has a UTI and he's given antibiotics. Guess what doesnt react well with the ear wash? Thats right they gave me meds that don't work well with each other so my poor pups ears are inflamed, blistered and pus. Our other dog was diagnosed with a liver disorder so we couldn't get him neutered, which we paid for and couldn't be refunded. They want to do spendy tests every three months and have a special prescription diet. After a 2nd opinion guess who does not have any liver issues??? What a scam this place is. Im sure they would have killed my babies with neglecence if I continued care with them!!! read more

This is one of the worst experiences I have ever received from "suppose of " pet lovers. As we all know, Washington is in the middle of a heat wave. If you intend to fly on an airplane with an animal yet it is to hot they cancel your flight and reschedule. Also federal requirement you to have a 10 day certificate to make sure the animal is healthy. We went to Banfield pet Hospital to paid $260 for this certificate(the price isn't my issue). we were unable to fly out on our day today because of heat wave. We are able to fly out tomorrow morning. But now that puts the certificate at 11 days that needs to be 10. I would never ask a business to change their rules or regulations especially a federal one. With this being a smaller yet family like community, they would want to create a space in their "open for business" schedule today!!! Not only to assure a good customer service but our pet's safety. They clearly don't care about animals or their owners. I do not suggest ever trusting your animal with this company. Zero compassion, effort to help, or empathy. read more

Amazing care! They ARE NOT an emergency vet, and have helped keep my pets healthy through preventive care. They are always helpful when I call and need to reschedule an appointment or refer me to an emergency veterinarian given the situation. Definitely recommend their preventive care plans. read more

Moved here from out of state with my epileptic dog. I went to the Banfield closest to where we lived previously before we moved and we absolutely loved the doctor and the staff there. We tried the Silverdale location and informed them that our dog is highly reactive, they brought us into an exam room that shares a wall with all of the yelping dogs in the groomer. From there, the vet tried to rough house with my 85 lb dog who did not know this vet, and was overloaded with medication. We werent thrillled with this, and furthermore, the vet deviated from the original plan. My dog has been sedated for 2 months and it should have only been 1 month per my previous vet's plan. They said the only way we could ween him off of one of the 2 medications was to do a $180 blood test that wasn't included in the 6 blood tests I pay for each year on his plan. I didn't have the money at the time so they scheduled me for a time when I "would have the money" to pay for this blood test. In the meantime, they had me keep his medication levels the same despite the fact that it is liver damaging and that he is uncoordinated and sick all the time. We went to an established vet out in Shelton that took one look at him and said he doesn't need to be on both medications. She gave us a plan to slowly take him off one of the meds, and so we cancelled the blood test with Banfield. Furthermore, we tried to call to get a prescription refilled for him, and they never called us back. We had to call our previous vet that is 1100 miles away and they called our local pharmacy; within 2 hours we had his meds. This location is the only Banfield on this side of the water so getting an appointment when you have an immediate concern is not an option, either. I cannot believe the level of disservice that this place delivers. If they can't serve the demand, build another location in Kitsap. We would have to pay a toll to go.to the next nearest Banfield which is a 45 min drive. Super unimpressed! read more

Front office staff: Seems ok overall, although one member of staff in particular is apathetic and seems to not want to provide the level of customer service that I have experienced at other Banfield vet hospitals. Nurses/Assistants: Worked with 2 directly. 1 was ok ,the other was exceptional. Vets: Talked with 2 directly. 1 was unsatisfactory, the other was very nice. Issues with service: My wife and I have 2 dogs, and have had unsatisfactory experiences with both at this Banfield. My female dog was brought in for a teeth cleaning and was dropped off at 7:30 AM. At 4:30 PM, I called and was told that she wouldn't be ready until 6:00. When I got there to pick her up, her entire front was matted and covered in drool. I had to ask for wipes to clean her up, and couldn't believe that they would release her looking like that. When I asked why she wasn't ready earlier, considering her appointment was so much earlier that morning. The only response I got was that she was finished with later. My male dog has other issues, he began to have seizures in May and our original Banfield vet had a plan put together for him. When we arrive at the Silverdale location, the new vet that we met was not observant or listening to what we had to say. I felt like I was being talked at instead of being spoken to. Secondly, we called yesterday at 12:00 pm to get his medicine sent to our nearest pharmacy, only to be told that there was only 1 Vet available and that he was running from exam room to exam room, so he would not be able to call us to confirm or send it for a few hours. I notified the staff at Silverdale that my dog had run out of medication and that t was urgent that it get refilled since he has seizures, and was told that the Vet will definitely call me. I immediately called our previous Banfield Vet Hospital 1100 miles away and asked them to send the prescription. Our previous Vet was in surgery, but the tech reassured us that the call would be made in the early afternoon to ensure that our dog would be able to get his meds before their office and the pharmacy closed. At 4:00 pm i got the confirmation that the script from the Yorba Linda, CA location arrived and I was able to pick up. This morning we finally received a call from the vet at the Silverdale location stating that it looks like the Yorba Linda location already took care of it and asked if we still needed the medication. At this point we are done, and with the next closest location being in Tacoma, and having to pay a toll to get there; the next call to Banfield we are going to make is to corporate to end our wellness plans with both of our dogs. Dissatisfied is an understatement and it is unfortunate the level of care from the staff at this location is not anywhere near the previous location. read more

I have to say every time I have taken my pets to Banfield it has been less than a good experience. The wait has always been long. First visit we were there over 2 hours (most of the time just waiting in the exam room). We first took our new puppy there for vaccine shots, signed up for the wellness plan (they push it). The dog had a severe reaction that night and I ended up rushing her to a pet hospital. She had brain damage and we had to turn her over to a rescue because she needed around the clock care we weren't able to give. When I told the people at Banfield they really were not very caring at all. For people who treat pets you would think they would be more concerned. We cancelled the wellness plan for that dog and did get a refund because it was in the 4 day cancel timeframe. Our other dog has been there for her wellness plan visits. Every time we go in they push spaying her. She is a purebred Papillon and they tried to tell me our local animal shelter is full of dogs like her and we should spay her. Our local shelter is actually full of pit bulls that nobody wants not purebred Papillons. Give me a break. We took her in to have a puppy tooth extracted, vet said it would cost max $150. My husband came back from dropping her off and said it was going to cost over $300 because she needed her teeth cleaned also and they couldn't just extract her tooth without doing that too. Can you image if that happened with people. The dentist couldn't pull a bad tooth unless you had all your teeth cleaned. I never asked for her teeth to be cleaned. I scheduled a tooth extraction not a cleaning. She is only 7 months, no tartar, no inflammation at all and they they claimed she needed it. Give me a break. This place is inept. I will never take my dog there again. I think giving a 1 star rating is generous for this place. They are awful!!!! read more

We have brought our puppy here now since we got her back in February. I waited to write a review so I had a couple of experiences under my belt before I reviewed. I have absolutely no complaints with this Banfiled location. The staff and vets are always friendly, always helpful and always remember our puppy when we come there. I have even had to call when we had an emergency type situation and they were very thorough and helped as quickly as possible. My puppy had a bad rash once on her tummy and the staff at the front desk recommended a different dog food to try first, I switched and the rash went away in a couple of days! I always recommend Banfield to my friends and colleagues whenever they have a pet now. read more

Unfortunately there is no zero - stars option. I should have followed my gut - instinct and the Web reviews on this and not taken my pup there. I arrived on time and I let the front desk lady know that it was both me and my dog's first vet appt ever, that my dog had never seen a vet before. It was a new experience for us. They checked us in, it was all going well and then the vet came in to do the comprehensive exam... long story short it all felt very rushed and the exam seemed like her squeezing my dog's torso and then telling me one of his testicles hadn't dropped and the other was too small... then we were rushed outside to schedule the next visit for the next shots. Did I mention this was our first visit? I had no idea what to expect after the shots on my dog's side when I get home and start to freak out because my dog is limping a little and whining if you touch the site of the injection... I Googled it and apparently that's to be expected... but who knew right? Not only did we have to wait several weeks to get an appt but then when we got seen it was the fastest exam I have ever seen. I understand I have a 7lb 5mo puppy but there was no eye, ear, dental or rectal exam done. When I read the invoice by the time I got home it said all of that ^^ was perfomed.... and when I asked if the exams were normally that speedy they just said "well you have a puppy, it was your first visit and you had no concerns" Wait... what?? It's a puppy's first visit of course I would want it to be thorough and if I didn't have any questions/concerns was because I didn't have enough time to think of anything and because I a new "pup parent" that has no idea what's going on and doesn't know what to expect. I am not saying I want my money back but I do want to cancel my "membership". I don't want to take my dog there again. I think they don't have enough slots/providers for a big volume of patients so they end up rushing everyone in and out... and it sucks... especially if that's your first time... I had a great experience with Banfield. Took my rescue doggie in and was greeted pleasantly by the staff. Took my dog back within 5 minutes and doctor was in 15 minutes later. Very reasonably priced for their health plans and it includes a lot. Great people and great doctors. Will be taking my dog back when he needs his teeth cleaned, which is included in the plan! read more

I took my cat here after I woke up to a fish hook in her paw and it was the only place I knew. They were great rushed her right in to get it out. They were very understanding that I was low on money and worked out a payment plan with me. The person at the front deck checked reguarly to update me on how she was doing and I not only had the nurse but also the doctor come out more then once to let me know how she was. This is the veterinary equivalency of a "free clinic". Half attentive very confused staff, incompetent VAs, disgusting accommodations and absolutely no medical knowledge past that of minor procedures. Just picked up my dog after 5 hours from a check up only to find out they haven't even seen him yet. Lesson learned, dont drop your pets off for basic care. They will leave them rotting in a kennel until you show up asking what's going on. read more

Long story short, our dog is overdue on his heart worm pro injection. They tried to persuade my husband the our dog wasn't due for another year, we confirmed with our previous Banfield location that our records showed our dog was over due. We called back and asked for the practice manager who was extremely rude. We were upset that we pay monthly for this exact purpose and they failed to do their job. We asked if she would waive the $26 fee for their mistake --- and for putting our dog's health at risk (considering we pay $500 a year for this service and hundreds more on treatments throughout the year) she refused. We asked for the name of her Regional Director and contact info to escalate our request - she refused telling us "Google it" and continued being rude saying "it's my choice, bottom line I don't care that we didn't call you, you are not getting a comp" -- She was extremely unprofessional, rude, did not take responsibility for their error's and disregarded our dog's health. Banfield - is this the level of service you expect from your managers? Is this kind of nonprofessional behavior really allowed to continue? For a paid service we were disrespected, treated poorly and this manager behaved very unprofessionally without care or concern. she even said she did not care if she lost us as a customer - WOW! Stay far far away, this woman and hospital do not do their job and don't care about you as a customer nor your pets. read more
