1) I arrived on time for my scheduled appointment, but I waited for a VERY long time because they had no rooms/staff to help. What was supposed to be a quick 30 min checkup, turned into HOURS of waiting in the lobby. 2) They wouldn't let me come back to be with my pet during the checkup. I expressed multiple times that I would like to be in the room with my pet when she gets her blood drawn and shots administered, but still I am told to wait in the lobby every time while they bring her back and she disappears and I don't hear from anyone until eventually they bring her back in the cage again, which is always soaked with pee because she got too scared and nervous. 3) They didn't give me the medication that I already paid for in my wellness plan, I had to ask for it. And they didn't say anything about accepting a fecal sample, which I also already paid for in my wellness plan, I had to ask about it. 4) The doctor doesn't come out to tell me any info. When I was allowed in the room with my pet in earlier years, a doctor would tell me her weight, tell me the status of her teeth/gums, update about her health status, etc. Now some random vet tech just hands her off to me with no info. The whole establishment and the team seem very disorganized and chaotic. It is not a place I want to trust with the life of my pet. *Third Banfield Pet location I've tried, and I've been disappointed by all of them. I really don't trust this company. read more

Dr. Zachary Carroll is my cat's vet -- he is amazing and takes the time to explain what is going on and what treatment options there are.

Today I brought my dog in for a one time visit. I went there because I could not get an appointment with my vet for my pup to get his rabies vaccine for another three weeks. He was already six weeks overdue. The receptionist was polite and very professional. She did explain to me about purchasing a wellness plan for my dog, but there was absolutely no pressure to buy one. I left my dog there I was called approximately one hour later. I was informed by the vet that my dog had a suspected ear infection and wanted to do a swab. I consented to it and received another call that he indeed had a bacterial and yeast infection in both of his ears. I thought it was just his usual allergies. When I picked him up, I looked in his ears and could immediately tell it was an infection by the redness and odor. I thought the pricing was very reasonable and everyone there was very responsive. I got pricing quotes every step along the way, from the cost of the visit and vaccines to how much the ear swab and medication would cost. I was quite pleased. read more

During a visit to Banfield Greenburgh in 2022 Sasha was found to have an elevated alk phos level, the doctor instructed me to keep an eye on it. During her annual visit on 1/7/23 Sasha's alk phos had more than quadrupled and was now 1900. Dr. Gordon prescribed a low fat diet, Denamarin and to return in one month to repeat labs. Dr. Gordon suggested that we should start with the least invasive treatment (diet and meds) if we don't see an improvement then we would have a diagnostic ultrasound; I agreed and we scheduled a follow up appointment on 2/16/23. On 2/7 Sasha injured herself and was seen at an emergency room where her labs were repeated and alk phos was now 2000. I called banfield (as we had an appt already scheduled on 2/16 for repeat labs) and informed them that Sasha's levels hadn't improved with a strict diet and meds and that we should proceed with the ultrasound. I was told of the cost and received a callback a short time later that the tech was available on the 16th and to drop Sasha off at 0745. I arrive as instructed and drop her off, I was told that the tech would be there between 1030-noon and the doctor would call me immediately afterwards. I asked Jeanine (front desk registration) "Are you sure?" Because my visit in January was stained with a lack of communication, transparency, honesty, and professionalism (I can explain my concerns with that visit via phone call). I chose to return to banfield after that visit only because I received a second opinion that was in complete agreement with Dr. Gordon's suggested plan of care. Jeanine assured me that Dr. Gordon would call post ultrasound. At 1209 I hadn't heard from anyone (and was told the tech would arrive between 10-noon) so I called. Jeanine told me the Dr. would call me within 30 minutes; I again expressed concern because the last appt left me feeling unheard and without information and results that I'd paid for; again I was assured within 30 minutes I'd receive a call. I suggested that I could just come up there and speak to him in person and was advised not to and he would call shortly. By 1500...no call, I arrive to banfield apx 1515 ask for Dr. Gordon (he has now left the building on his lunch break). I ask to speak to a manager and I'm taken to Diane (manager in training). I explain my concerns dating back to the previous visit. Diane explained that indeed the ultrasound had been completed because "I helped hold Sasha down for the scan and the technician suggested cytology testing." I told her yes, how long for the results, and was told it hadn't been done "because we didn't have permission." I asked "Why on earth didn't someone call, we came for a diagnostic study?" Diane explained that she didn't know and Dr. Gordon would call upon his return. I pay for the ultrasound, leave, and once again await a phone call from Dr. Gordan. Dr. Gordan called at 1544 and explained that a "large mass" was found on her liver (which wasn't a surprise for me given the persistent elevated alk phos) along with multiple small kidney stones. He then explained that fluids weren't collected because coags hadn't been obtained prior to the ultrasound and that I would need to return, pay for another ultrasound so the specimen could be obtained via ultrasound. I asked "Why on earth wasn't this done today as this was meant to be a diagnostic procedure?" He then responded "Good question" and asked "What doctor did you see in January?" I explained that we saw him and agreed upon the treatment plan. He then explained that "I didn't know Sasha was on the schedule or I would have scheduled the coags." He then explained that he would speak to leadership regarding covering the cost of the the next ultrasound due to this "oversight". I attempted to explain that was a great start but this encompasses so much more! One missed day of work, now will turn into two days. Increased stress while waiting on the second ultrasound THEN awaiting cytology results before discussing a treatment plan. My concerns seemed to fall on deaf ears as Dr. Gordan attempted to shift responsibility for this delay of care to front desk staff and scheduling. Again, I asked to speak with Diane and voiced by extreme disappointment, concerns and lack of comfort proceeding with banfield. I'd like either the ultrasound guided cytology cost be absorbed by banfield due to lack of communication or a refund of the ultrasound yesterday so that we can seek care somewhere else (the latter being by preference). Although Diane assured me she would work on a resolution she encouraged me to also reach out to corporate to expedite the process. I allowed 2 full weeks for a response from corporate...No response to date. Please don't entrust this business with the care of your beloved animal. read more

I had a Travel Health Check scheduled for Friday for my dog so that I could take him on a plane. (It was scheduled at the Yonkers Banfield, they screwed that up but that's a separate review). I brought him in and the health check went well, no health issues. They said they would send me the paperwork for travel the next day (Saturday). I told them I was flying Monday and they said not to worry. I was not sent any paperwork Saturday, and they are closed Sunday and Monday. I had to reschedule my flight. I left VM and used the portal to request the paperwork, and got no reply. I called again on Tuesday and when they called me back, said that THE PAPERWORK WAS NOT ABLE TO BE ACCESSED, and they were refunding the charges and I would have to go GET ANOTHER TRAVEL CHECK SOMEWHERE ELSE. Who does that?!? Deny me access to paperwork for a service that was already completed?!? I'm only giving this 2 stars instead of 1 because the vet techs were nice. read more

Highly unprofessional receptionist staff. I called in to speak to a veterinarian in regards to a monthly flea and tick preventative (simparica trio) that I purchase for (2) dogs of the same weight class. When speaking to the receptionist and expressing my concerns I was hung up on in the midst of speaking and asking to talk to a vet directly. I called back and left a message stating that I was going to file a complaint about being rudely hung up on. After leaving said voice message the receptionist then calls back, promptly after the message was left, and claims that she didn't hang up on me in a condescending tone. This is the worst "hospital" in history. My dog, who has been apart of Banfield since he was a puppy, was very sick. I explained to ERICA, and she put me on hold for 5 minutes, picked the phone up again and then hung up on me. I called back she pretended it was an accident, and asked me to hold again as she went to get my file. I was on hold for another 10 mins. I called back another employee answered and said oh should I hang up the other line, but hung up on me. Now on one is answering the calls . The are the most unprofessional, incompetent and inconsiderate branch of Banfield. If you MUST use Banfield, go to the Yonkers location. My pet had to get emergency surgery today at a separate establishment - NO THANKS TO BANFIELD LOCATED IN GREENBURGH, NY! I took my pup yesterday to get checked out. She was completely lethargic, we had to carry her out of bed, hasn't ate or drank water on 2 going on 3 days. She was in heat and all this information was told to the doctor on duty. Due to COVID restrictions (which I understand) parents are not allowed to go inside and accompany their pet and forced to leave them alone for over 3/4+ hours. After a long and anxious wait, my pup was told to "change her diet" "change her food" and give it "two days" to see how she acts. No medicine for pain, no remedies to help alleviate her pain, NOTHING. My pup was given to me in the same condition I left her in. NO, I do not expect for her to be back in 100% shape but at least some ANSWERS and something to help her with her pain. I left Banfield with food to "change her diet" EVEN THOUGH SHE WASN'T EATING A THING. Fast forward to today, more lethargic, not eating/drinking, whimpering. I then reached out to FB and asked for vet recommendations. I was recommended another vet 20 minutes away at a private establishment where the Dr. properly evaluated and assessed my pup and noted that she needed immediate surgery as it was a life-threatening situation. The other doctor saved my dog's life. Banfield Hospital did not give a Leia the one on one undivided attention she deserved, did not give me any sort of options, didn't give me ANY SORT OF ANSWERS. The severity of my pet's health was not properly assessed at Banfield. My life was in the hands of the doctor and I was just told to bring her back in two days "if she wasn't feeling better" meanwhile my pup's life was on a ticking clock. If the Dr. was unable to attend my pet, the least she could have done is communicate this with me so I could have sought immediate help the same day. The vet techs at Banfield are incredibly sweet but I am SO appalled at the Dr. who did not properly care for Leia. SHAME ON YOU FOR NOT EXAMINING MY PET AND LEAVING HER TO DIE! I regret every minute I took my dog there. Banfield has the worse doctors, they are incapable of properly diagnose a dog. They wouldn't see you when you really need them and send you to emergency. Why would you take your pet to them? Why would you buy their wellness program if they only see you "per appointment only"? What do you do when your pet needs their vet but the vet is not there... On Sep 21 Dr Duggan assured us that the mass on his chest (cytology) was fat, nothing serious, and his liver issue may be diabetes. I called on Nov 9 because he was again sick and they wouldn't see him so I took him to emergency. The minute the vet saw him said it was cancer and my dog was dying. Cancer already spread to his body. We had to put him to sleep the same day. read more

After the experience I recently had here, I will never recommend this hospital, or corporation, to anyone who loves their pets. The man at the front desk ignored us (even though there were no other customers around), when he finally did ask me who I was and what I was there for, he seemed irate and pissed off. He told me sharply to have a seat on the bench - I waited about 25 minutes, but that was okay, I wasn't in a rush. He did not say anything about the delay at all. The appointment itself was not horrible...but we were rushed in and out after waiting patiently. The pet nurse who came in was very sweet and gentle, but overall, my dog was not made to feel more comfortable which I believe is very important since the vet can be an imprinting experience for any pet. As the front desk man (same as before) was checking us out and waiting for our meds, I tried to ask a couple of after-care questions. I did not realize he would be unable to refer me to a more knowledgeable staff member, and instead, he snapped and told me that any questions I have needed to be answered in the appointment, and now that the appointment is over, I could call later and leave a message for the doctor. A simple "okay, let me get someone to answer that for you" would have sufficed. I did not try further with this man because he clearly had his own agenda. My point is this: Banfield clearly does not hire people based on their passion for their jobs, or for animals at the very least. This man wanted nothing to do with me, my dog, or my business, regardless of the fact that I patiently waited for my appointment to begin, and spent a great bundle of money on the ear cleaning and medications prescribed. I would be horrified to leave my pet here for any type of procedure. Front desk associates set the stage for a customer experience, as they are the first and last person you see, and this man left me with such an awful opinion of the hospital. The guy at the front desk Ronnie (not sure if thats even his really his name) was beyond rude and said that it wasn't his problem because he wasn't the one who was calling to confirm appointments, it was someone else. When trying to find a solution to the problem the staff was extremely rude, Ignored me when trying to see when my dog could be seen next, and didn't even have the audacity to apologize for their mistake. To make the long story short, it basically ended with Ronnie telling us in a really NASTY attitude and tone of voice to Just leave because he wasn't going to make an appointment for my dog to be seen and he didn't care. I would not recommend Banfield Pet Hospital and would highly recommend anyone who cares about their pets to go to a real animal hospital and not Banfield. Called to bring in our very sick puppy and was told they are fully book and would not be able to see the puppy until Wednesday, June 3rd. When I mentioned they had a sign up in their office that they would take sick animals first...was told it is by appointment only. We are going back to VCA Hospital where we have always had nothing but 5 start service and a staff that cares about what they are doing, even though it means a 40 minute drive. As others have said this place deserves ZERO stars. I have been a customer for 4 years since my dog Sammy was a baby puppy. He has been on their wellness plan since then. My dog started yelping and crying in the middle of the night and was licking his genitals because he most likely has a very bad UTI. When I took him in early at 9 am on a Saturday they stated they do not take walk ins. (No one was even there waiting) They used to, so this policy is new to me. I offered to come back later and they refused to see him. They wouldn't even look at him for 5 minutes. They told me they didn't have any appointments for the rest of the weekend and to take him somewhere else. They were rude. I begged, I told them he was suffering and in pain and they simply didn't care and told me to get lost. I had to take him to an emergency appointment down the street at a walk in clinic. It cost me over 500 dollars for services like a urine sample which should have been covered under my plan. This place does not care about your pet. All this place cares about is MONEY. Also when the terms of my wellness plan changed no one told me. I was never given information as to any policy changes. Sick visits used to be included when he was a puppy, but apparently are not covered now. When I called to cancel my plan they charged me $470 dollars. I didn't care. I just want to be done with these uncaring horrible people. Buyer Beware DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A WELLNESS PLAN IT IS A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would also like to state I am not just a disgruntled uneducated customer. I am an accountant, a CPA and did not use Banfield because they were "cheap". I took my puppy at 6 month to get vaccine booster--that was my first visit. Here is a list of things they have failed to perform: 1. Focus on the health care of the pet: First thing they tried to do when i brought my pup in was to sell me their wellness plan before they pay attention to my pup. I told them I have a pet insurance, they didn't care 3 people within 20 min of arrival had told me to sell their wellness plan. And my pup didn't get an examination or any attention to get the care he came in for. Again, the vet was okay, there was nothing terrible but nothing exceptionally good about him. 2. Aggressive and Uneducated staff: [Vet Technician] A young female vet technician came into the room (to this day I don't know her name), she saw me and my dogs, didn't introduce herself (not even a handshake, name, or saying hello). She just walked in not saying anything, then started touching my pup and examined him. In 10 min of her being in the room, she said all the derogatory things about me and my dogs (i had my adult dog and the pup). Then, she started accusing me verbally that I am not aware of my dogs' health and growth--this is not true. (to give an evidence, i took my adult dog to a high end vet in manhattan who specializes in french bulldogs. The vet there who has been seeing my frenchie for the last 4.5 years never pointed out the issues that the vet technician at the banefield pet hospital was accusing me of) In her literal words, "Oh, maybe you are not just paying attention (*smirks*)." 3. Difficulty booking appointments over the phone: it is so hard to make an appointment over the phone to get to the vet (tried twice for a follow up appointment). They seem to not have a clear understanding of each patient's (pet's) medical record and how to read them (which i also don't understand, because it should in be their system). Not having a clear understanding of my pup's condition (even though she probably had doctor's notes and medical record in front of her), she made an accusatory statements about why i want to bring my dog in to see a vet. They were at one point attacking me on the phone for the reason why I want to bring my dog to their office. To summarize, DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS THERE IF YOU CARE FOR THEM. Staff there are uneducated and aggressive. Their purpose seems to be selling medical plan not taking care of your pets. read more

I do not recommend Banfield Pet Hospital to anyone who cares about their pet. You cannot be there to comfort your animal when it's taken inside to be treated. It's their policy not to allow you to be with your pet, and this is not because of the pandemic - it's a rule they have. Would you leave your four year old child alone with the doctor? You do not know how he/she is being regarded and you like to comfort your pet. The customer service in some of their locations, Bronx, White plains Yonkers is poor. The automated and customer service over the phone is horrible. I called to cancel my yearly subscription and they have you wait very long - they last time , they had me wait for 14 minutes. They have a phone system that tells you they will call back but it does not work. They made two files on my dog and confused the file for the old one and gave him the same shot twice. It is unacceptable and irresponsible. I wanted to remove myself from the contract but they told me that I had to keep it and pay for the rest of the year. Because I am not wealthy I settled in getting the necessary shots from them there. It is horrible. read more

When I told them I could not wait I couldn't get an appointment for at least another week. If they knew they were going to be that backed up they should call their customers and let them know . Been going here since they opened dr persaud is fantastic! She really goes the extra mile to make your pet feel comfortable and safe. Will not trust my dog with anyone else but her. My dog has anxiety and gets very nervous he also has a heart murmur she is so very careful and friendly to him he is not nervous . She has been the only vet to make him calm and I have been to many vets . I highly recommend her! I should have read the reviews before I tried to use this veterinary service. The veterinarian I saw was very nice and competent. Unfortunately, it is impossible to get a refill on meds for my senior dog because the receptionist is so rude and will not listen to my reason for calling. It is impossible to get an appointment earlier than one month out and the receptionist is so dense that she declares it is impossible to get meds for the dog even after the visit in October. Then, the receptionist declared that my dog will only get two weeks of medication he needs daily even after his annual exam even though the voicemail she left said I would be given two weeks worth and then he needs an exam. I already have an exam scheduled, but there are no appointments until next month. This is medication the veterinarian prescribed for daily relief of pain. I have taken my dog here a few times since we have moved from CA. We are optimum wellness members and have had poor experiences almost every time coming here. From long wait times about 1 hour past our appointment time to improper diagnosis to up selling and over treating to increase sales and not properly medicating my dog prior to teeth cleaning. Yes they did not premedicate my dog prior to teeth cleaning and I had to take my dog to a specialist to figure out why he was limping. The Banfield vet thought it was Lyme even though she was the one to give him the Lyme vaccine then wanted to give him meds for it. Well the Cornell vet specialist said the plate my dog had from a prior injury had gotten infected because they failed to pre medicate and follow up after the procedure. That was a very expensive mistake. Nevertheless we have stayed loyal customers because I am able to take everything they say with a grain of salt, read the proper literature from AVMA and be an advocate for my dog's health. Recently I have become extremely concerned because when my dog needed to see the vet due to stomach issues they refused they were too busy. Didn't make accommodations for another day or another Banfield just said they were booked and to go to a hospital. I have a BIG issue with my dog's primary care doctor turning him away when he needs to be seen. Sub-standard care that I will be contacting corporate about. read more

This office located inside of Pet Smart is HIGHLY UNORGANIZED. I tried to make an appointment for one of my dogs. When I called it seemed the office was in chaos. I was told they were way too busy and that they would have to call me back. I told them that my dog was sick and needed to be seen. She did call back several hours later and gave me an appointment nearly two weeks out. Although I was disappointed on the length of time I would have to wait, I took the appointment anyway. I called the office the day before the appointment to confirm the time and no one knew what I was talking about. Apparently she never actually scheduled the appointment. To make matters worse, they didn't wanted me to come in for another 3 weeks! Absolutely ridiculous. This was not my first encounter with this place either. I had an emergency with my other dog. I called early in the morning to see if I could bring him in. Once again I was told they would have to call me back. This time however, no one even bothered to call. I ended up taking him elsewhere. I took my cat to a different vet prior to my Banfield experience. My cat was prescribed thyroid medication and I needed to-follow up with labs in a couple of weeks to see if the medication was working. At a friend's suggestion I decided to change vets and go to Banfield Hospital for the follow-up appointment for the labs. BIG MISTAKE! When I made the appointment, I made clear that the reason for the appointment was for labs. I knew that I would be charged for an office visit ($55) in order to have the labs done. I brought a copy of the original labs with me. I told the vet assistant and Dr. Persaud that my cat was at another vet office a few weeks ago for a check up and showed them the lab report. I told them that this visit was for labs only to check my cat's thyroid function, Dr. Persaud informed me that thyroid function labs could not be performed on this visit because the medication needs to have been given 4 - 6 hrs prior to the appointment and my cat got her medication 8 hours prior to the visit. (No one informed me of this when I made the appointment even though I was very specific about the reason for the visit). But Dr. Persaud proceeded to inform me that by law she needed to give my cat a rabies vaccination and needed to charge for an office visit even though the purpose of my visit, the thyroid labs, could not be performed. She proceeded to exam my cat even though I told her that the cat had a vet examination within the past few weeks. She also informed me that even if I brought my cat back the next day just for the labs I would be charged for yet another office visit. The result was that this office visit was a waste of time and money. Cost me $81.90 for office visit and rabies vaccine . The way this should have been handled was for Dr. Persaud was to do nothing on this visit and have me bring the cat back the next day for the labs, rabies vaccine and required office visit. Horrible place!!! These people do not care about anything. I am currently standing at their front desk for my 7am drop off appointment which they called on Sunday to confirm and there is NO ONE HERE! This is the 2nd time I have wasted my time with this place. Last Sunday we had an 1145am appointment for a quick vaccine boaster shot. We pulled up on time but my puppy had puked in the back seat of my car so I had to clean it up before going inside which made us 9 mins late to our appointment . We walked in at 1154 and were told our appointment had been canceled because the vet had to go to lunch at 12! And wouldn't be back from lunch till 2pm AND were booked for the rest of the day so I would need to reschedule!! Really??? They get a 2 hour lunch and still left 5 mins before 12!?!? They told me the vaccine my dog needed was time sensitive and I only had til Wednesday to bring her back in. So I made the appt for today...for nothing. There's no one here and I have to go to work! Thanks banfield!! I will now take my $$ elsewhere because this place sucks! **BTW I then called the Banfield in Yonkers and they show that my dog is up to date on vaccines and does not need to be in til 2017!! read more

I had an emeegency with my dog and the man at the front desk got me an appointment the same day and help me see the vet and take care of my pets I think the staff at this hospital is amazing especially the manager Blake who came to talk to me and ensure that my pet was OK and that everything would be OK for this appointment that only are the prices low but the staff there Ron Blake Dr. Chin and young lady who helpes were amazing read more

I recently walked into this hospital for my pet to be seen, and I had the best experience I've ever had at a Banfield. There where two people out front to help, one was speaking Spanish to several people which is very helpful (my husband prefers Spanish since it's his first language). And the other person named Ron was able to get me in that day. He did explain that it's not usually the case and that we need to make appointments in the future but he did have space that day. The dr did come out and say hello to my pet while we waited and he explained that he would be with me shortly. There was nothing big that my pet need to be seen for but it was nice that the whole staff was super friendly and very welcoming to us. I'll keep coming back here. read more

Don't go here. I don't know how else to put it. And definitely do NOT spend your money on the wellness plans. This is a typical corporate SCAM. They do not care about you or your pets. All they care about is money. Not only are they rude and unprofessional, they are not thorough, and they prescribe unsafe, non-FDA approved medications and vaccinations. If you don't believe me, do your research on the Company. This is a typical pet store, trying to be something its not suited for, scheme. The vets are inadequate, they know just as much as you and I can find on Google, if not less. I've read a number of horror stories from people who have left their pets in the hands of Banfield and ended up with traumatizing results. Think about it, if you were an adequate, licensed veterinarian in good-standing, would you choose to take a job that resides in the back of a pet store and is run by a cruel corporation for less money than your peers, or would you choose to get a job at a REAL vet with high standards, better practices, better pay, and a much better track record in how your patients (pets) are treated. Honestly, F*** Banfield. This corporation needs to be shut down. Don't let them steal money from your account month after month for no good reason, they are worthless & not fit for veterinary care. read more
