To the incredible team at VEG ER,…read more I'm still at a loss for words and overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible care you all provided Wally last weekend. Watching him fight for his life was one of the hardest things I've ever been through, but your team never gave up on him. I'm a firm believer in the power of positive energy and love, and I truly felt that at VEG. Beyond the teams incredible intelligence and skill, you provided a sense of peace even while I was completely distraught. You are all so personable that I actually found myself enjoying little moments with you, which made such a nightmare situation feel a little less dark. Wally is my absolute world, my best friend and my biggest source of happiness, seeing the compassion you poured into him means everything to me. Thank you for not giving up on him and for giving us more years of life together. You are all truly angels on earth and will have a permanent place in my heart. I wish you all the biggest blessings. With so much love, Wally's mom :)

A rehabber from NY got back to us and recommended VEG. They immediately took the baby in and began working on it and promised to call rehabbers to take it once it was cleared to leave. They were very gentle and you could tell they really cared. I am happy to know they are there and highly recommend them

I can't thank Cornell University Veterinary Specialists enough for saving our cat's life - twice -…read morein 2025. Ginny simply would not be here today without the incredible skill, dedication, and compassion of the CUVS teams. Dr. Forman was exceptional, always taking the time to explain every detail and support us through Ginny's two surgeries and ongoing treatments. Dr. Bentley and Dr. Morgan performed the surgeries that quite literally saved her life, and we will be forever grateful. During Ginny's two hospital stays, the Internal Medicine team and nurses cared for her as if she were their own, giving us peace of mind during some of our darkest days. Dr. Wynne also went above and beyond by addressing secondary issues during her recovery. We will always be grateful to everyone at CUVS for giving us more time with the cat who means the world to us.

Warning, long post…read more Do not take your pet here unless you want them to die. My poor sweet cat, Artemis, died in agony less than 24 hours after a procedure at Cornell University Veterinary Specialists. She was hospitalized multiple times for evaluation of weight loss and GI disease. On June 16, she underwent endoscopy with biopsies and a liver FNA with Dr. Forman. I was told the procedure was uncomplicated and that she was stable and good to go home. This was strike 1, they discharged her too soon. After discharge, she was clearly not okay. On the drive home, I noticed intermittent wheezing. Once home, she became progressively lethargic, hid from us, vomited, had worsening abdominal distension, and appeared to be struggling to breathe. I called the hospital because I was concerned about her respiratory status. I was told these signs could be related to anesthesia and her anti-nausea meds wearing off and that I should monitor her. As a physician, I knew better. I ignored that advice and brought her back to the ER, which I ultimately regret. In the ER, I met Dr. Zenobya Clarke, who was taking "care" of Artemis. She confirmed that she was in respiratory distress and gave her butorphanol (FYI, pet owners cannot observe the treatments, pets are taken to a back room while we are made to wait in a separate room for updates). She disclosed that she accidentally gave "double" the dose, and when I asked her for the exact amount, she said she gave 1 mg/kg of body weight, when the typical dose is 0.2 mg/kg. So she overdosed her by 5 times, not double like she said. When I mentioned that, she acted flippantly like it was no big deal. Strike 2. When I received her medical records after her death, turns out she had actually given 2 mg/kg, so she gave 10 times the amount in an already sick cat. A medication error of that magnitude should never happen. She told me Artemis would be admitted to the ICU and said she looked stable so I could go home. I asked to visit her before I left and noticed that she was open-mouthed breathing and in terrible condition. She was bradycardic and hypotensive on the monitor, none of which was mentioned to me. Strike 3. The vet swore she looked ok just before, which I find hard to believe. I had to point out how unstable she looked. Throughout the visit, Dr. Clarke was callous, brushed off her errors, and seemed like she did not know what she was doing. I found out after the fact that she was a resident with seemingly no oversight. Despite treatment, Artemis' condition rapidly deteriorated. She developed severe respiratory distress, began vomiting blood, and we made the heartbreaking decision to euthanize her to end her suffering. She was the sweetest, gentlest, most affectionate cat, and to see her die in such a horrific way was devastating. I understand that not every patient can be saved. What I cannot understand is how a patient who was reportedly stable enough for discharge could deteriorate so dramatically within hours, why my concerns about her breathing after discharge were dismissed initially, and how a 10-fold medication overdose occurred during her care. Instead of celebrating my upcoming wedding in a few days, I was forced to say goodbye to the sweetest cat I have ever known. I am left with profound grief, unanswered questions, and a complete loss of trust in a hospital I believed would provide the highest level of care. On top of that, I spent almost $15K at Cornell only for them to ultimately cause her death at their neglect. Artemis trusted me and willingly went into her carrier. I had to return home with an empty carrier and a broken heart.

What an incredible group of people!…read more My dog is susceptible to pneumonia and when he had a wet cough on a Sunday, I knew it couldn't wait for his primary vet on Monday. In the past we went ton other emergency vets and unfortunately it was always a long wait, you were away from your dog the entire time, and they wouldn't release your dog to you until after you paid. VEG is different than all those places. We were seen immediately and while they do have an open concept ER, they gave us a private room just in case. The nurse (Diana) and the vet (Dr. Schwartz) were all incredible. They took such good care of our dog and us! They allow you to be with your pet during X-rays which I found amazing. No paying first then waiting for your pet to be discharged. You're as hands on as you're comfortable being. Amazing place.

What is there to say besides don't trust this place with your pet, your time or your money…read more To say we had a negative experience would at this point be an understatement. The behavior this practice has exhibited has been avoidant, evasive and disappointing. I called distressed after my dog was having complications healing from surgery after a lipoma removal. We arrived on a busy Sunday and were taken at the end of a triage. During our time there I voiced to MULTIPLE techs that my dog was bleeding through his gauze. 2/3 responses were a deadpan stare and the words "ok". It took 3 times of me asking/ pleading for someone to listen to me. Even then I was armed with loose gauze and a wee wee pad. When we were finally seen I was so relieved i let this all fall away. I was so happy my pet was taken care of I went home following their orders and protocol. The next day I realized all the sutures at the site had fallen out and we were back at square one after spending hundreds of dollars. Naturally I was upset and placed a call to the location. I was placed on an infinite hold 3 times with no answer until i called from my friend's phone to which they picked up immediately. I have been calling every day since Monday with not a single person giving me a call back or without any financial compensation for the negligent job they did. I have given them since Monday to give me a call back and fix this. I've called every day without a call back. So if you don't care about your pets or spending unnecessary money this is the place for you!

From the very beginning, about five years ago, I was impressed by the caring, loving way that my boy and I were treated. No matter how many times I brought him there, everything was explained gently and thoroughly. Munchkin was 16 years old. I could see severe changes in him. He lost interest in walking the neighborhood, he lost weight, stopped eating and drinking. I knew that his time had come. The procedure was humane and compassionate and although my heart was shattered, I knew that I was doing what was best for my boy. Dr. Tarasoff was wonderful. She said all the right things and made it as easy as possible for me. Yesterday, I received a handwritten card from Dr. Tarasoff and her staff. Enclosed was a clipping of Munchkin's hair and a paw print. It was so kind and thoughtful and I will treasure it always. I highly recommend the Animal Hospital of White Plains. I have never experienced such compassion. Thank you, Dr. Tarasoff and all of your associates.

Next thing I know a vet comes out to tell me she was accidentally given the wrong medication - Librella - a drug for arthritis - which she does not have. I was not told how such a serious mistake could have happened or what steps would be taken to prevent something like this in the future. Instead, I was offered an apology and a Librella pamphlet with dozens of possible side effects to look out for. Hardly reassuring given an error of this magnitude. I trust a veterinarian with my dogs well being, and mistakes like this are unacceptable. Whether it was negligence, poor communication or disregard for accountability, it says alot about this clinics internal standards. There are plenty of other reputable veterinarians in the area, I will be seeking care elsewhere Im sure they will offer some canned response to this post but they will not be able to deny this happened.

I said I never had to do this before (been going there for years because convenient). The rude reception person said I was wrong and argued about it. I was then told that because I had to rearrange the booster for a week later than allowed, the booster now became the first shot with the need to go again in another 4 weeks. (More money for the business) At no stage was I informed of the need to stick to the window from obtaining the first shot and when rearranging the initial follow-up appointment. This was the last straw and I left without seeing a vet, never to return. A few months ago we lost our older dog to cancer. He had a sore spreading acoss his cheek. They said they could not take a biopsy unless he was anaethetized. They said it was an infection from his teeth and we spent $1500 dollars on a teeth cleaning. The biopsy taken at the time showed had cancer, terminal, and he died 4 weeks later. The sore on his face was horrendous, a half-eaten away face. I suspect they knew what this was and simply saw a chance to make money. I doubt the integrity and sense of care at this place based on several instances. Just after getting initial vaccinations for the puppy he started to be unsteady on his feet, stumbling onto his bed and his head then started to wobble slowly from side to side. We immediately called Banfield with the option of 'Press 1' if your pet is sick or injured, 'Press 2 ' for all other enquiries. No answer and had to leave a message. No-one got back to us and we ended up at an emergency vet hospital. The phone has never been answered directly when I have called. If you cancel an appointment you will get a call back since ther are $$$ at stake. Don't hold your breath if you have a question or need advice quickly. Bottom line, look for other options if you love your pet.
