The check-in process was smooth, and I only waited about 10 minutes. Robert, the vet tech, was incredibly kind and professional. He clearly explained what tests they would run to find out what was going on with Max and kept me informed about pricing and wait times. It really helped put me at ease during a very stressful time. I've been bringing my dog to Banfield in Leominster for 10 years. Recently during a checkup, kidney disease was diagnosed. I switched his diet to a prescription diet, as recommended. Last night he took a turn for the worse, and was uncomfortable and seemed like he was in pain. I called and spoke with the tech, and requested a call back. Waited for 4 hours, and called back, only to be told that I should bring him to an emergency vet. What terrible support. I realize there is no cure, but wanted to see if medication was available to help with his discomfort. I will never use Banfield again, and hope this review influences others to seek a better place to bring their pet. They were more than happy to take the $883.87 for the exam and lab tests. read more

It's unfortunate that I have to leave this review because I loved our Tech and Doctor Ramos on our first visit Friday 2/17/2024. However as explained on our first visit we've only had the dog for a week we switched his food as original owners did not supply anything. He has had diarrhea for 5 days. Dr. Ramos suggested switching him to rice and chicken bald and boiled. Today however we noticed in his poop there was blood, then he tried to poop again and when he tried again it was only blood coming out. We took him to Banfield after their pet chat suggested we go over since it's been so long with diarrhea and now it's progressing to blood. Moreover the chat wanted to make sure we didn't have an issue with the vaccines. When we got to the hospital they told us they are too busy to see him and suggested I go to another hospital. Banfield was one of the first places to look to for when finding a vet for Billy. I took my pup in for a "new pet visit". They have a promo for new owners. We were greeted promptly, but a few minutes in they realized they spelled Billy's name as "Dilly". We laughed it off. The doctor came into the room and his first question was what's wrong with him? I'm like hi hello. This is my 5 month old puppy, we're new here, and this is our visit ever vet visit. From that point onwards, we felt so rushed. I was asking very specific questions about his weight, and food portions--and was given very generalized answers. (Could have googled all that to be honest) Such an uncomfortable experience to be rushes out like that, vet tech was awesome though! I felt he was more helpful than the actually vet! I once dropped him off for a follow up and when I returned 4 hours later he was still in the back unattended, well from that day on I stayed with him NEVER leaving him alone through his visits. He got his annual dental cleaning in June 2018. On September 5, 2018 he had his last visit, took him in as he was lethargic and coughing, I was told he had an enlarged heart (ALL OF A SUDDEN) and they shoved a small pill down his throat; that evening he ended up in the hospital as he died in my arms. I still haven't recovered, and I know I will NEVER EVER recommend them. They are butchers....never taking responsibility for their actions!! They, along with their so call vets, should be put out of business/licenses revoked. Then they want to hold you accountable for their pet plan until it runs through the anniversary....sorry to say they lost that one, my plan was cancelled respectively!!! If I could give zero stars I would - Banfield in Pelham, NY I took my little Binchonpoo there in April 2022 because she was bleeding through her urine. They "expressed" her anal glands and gave me an antibiotic to give her. They never performed proper services to determine that she had stones the size of M&M candies. Only discovered this when I rushed her to another vet where she had to have immediate surgery. My little puppy almost died! I thought Banfield cared for pets! I signed a contract with them on that day I initially took her there thinking they had helped my little pup. I called them and told them two days after giving her the antibiotics that she was still struggling to urinate and was still bleeding. Their response: "You have to give the medication time." I'm so glad I rushed her to another vet. I spent over $1,400 in total and have asked Banfield repeatedly to cancel my contract because of their negligence/misdiagnosis. To date, they still have not done so. I've submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. If you want your pet to live, I don't suggest this place at all! It seems painfully apparent to me that Banfield at 830 Pelham Parkway, Pelham, NY is more money hungry than caring for our pets. The audacity of them to threaten to send me to a collection agency for a lousy $122.85 when my FICO score is over 800. I pride myself in paying my bills in a timely manner. If you'd like an actual appointment where you might wait with your pet, see a doctor and then have a discussion...this experience is seemingly as rare as a diamond here. I called to get an important appointment yesterday and was told they were closing at noon for "staff training on new equipment" and also didn't have any appointments available for today. We were happy with the care we received from Dr. Toro while bringing in our pug for a sinus issue a while back; but unfortunately that's the only positive aspect I can find in this place. Located in a very busy PetSmart, Banfield would seem to focus more on bottom line than the care of your animal. Two visits in and they couldn't diagnose the issue, only make recommendations to come back. They finally recommended we see a doctor at their affiliated animal hospital also in Yonkers, an experience costing us $2800.00 for one visit and a little dog who is still struglling to overcome a sinus/respiratory issue. The final straw was calling back to ask if they could prescribe something simple to calm our little guy while we take a Thanksgiving road trip. We were told that we would need to schedule an appointment for that also. Nevermind that they had JUST seen the animal; they knew his current weight and that he's otherwise healthy. Just something simple to help him with his car riding anxiety was out of the question until and unless we ponied-up another $60-$100 vet visit; no chance of us stopping in to pick it up for him. The atmosphere here is also chaotic, seating area is in the open store with barking dogs and hissing cats all over the place; any pet's stress level will be increased by having an experience here. Prices are extremely high, the staff will rush you, making little eye contact but of course you can pay them an additional $40 to be put to the front of the line if you're a walk-in customer. Upon arriving, I stood at the counter for a full ten minutes before anyone acknowledged my presence (there were three people chatting behind the counter). When someone finally did approach me, I will give them props that they got me in quickly for my appointment. However, the vet rushed me in and out the door. He seemed annoyed when I was asking questions about immunizations and other health concerns for my pet. He also noticed me looking at a brochure for wellness plans, glanced over at my dog (an older dog), and said sarcastically, "Yeah, that's not gonna happen with him." These things were irritating, but the real kicker was when I explained that my dog gets regular ear infections; since I always end up dropping an expensive vet bill for the same issue, I requested an extra refill of the medication for later. He did give me a refill, but he gave me two prescriptions for a HALF DOSE (equivilent to if he had just given me one full prescription to begin with)! It appears he would like me to schedule another (unneccessary) appointment so that the clinic can extract more money from me. Brought my dog here for the first time. Dropped him off at 9:30am. Didn't hear anything from the vet, so I called around 1pm. I was on hold for 10 minutes after calling three times...just for them to tell me he wasn't seen yet. They told me they are understaffed, so he wouldn't be seen until 4pm. When I asked where he was being held until he would be seen, the receptionist told me he would be in a crate. That means he would have been in a crate, barking his head off, with no water or time to use the bathroom for a total of almost 8 hours. Completely unacceptable. With tears in my eyes , I am told by Veterinarian Emergency Group that he most likely route to survival would be an $8000 CT scan and surgery. Even though VEG was going to send her out to a specialist, at least they were able to tell me that much and give me other options. Banfield has been regularly taking my funds and lying saying they are caring for Molly. If she was being checked by someone who knew what they were doing, we would've had the IVDD conversation years ago and began preventative measures. This is one of the biggest scams in the US right now. they are messing with the public's emotions and mini family members. Right now, we have to decide on quality of life options for Molly as I can't afford the surgery. I will continue to tell my story and suggest everyone I know with an animal NOT service this establishment. THIS IS NOT INSURANCE AND WILL NOT HELP YOUR PET WHEN YOU NEED HELP THE MOST! I have been going to this vetereniary clinic for over 2 years now and I have no real complaints about it. I first started going there for my Shih Tzu (Issy) and they have provided her with all the required tests and vaccinations necessary for my dog's well being and continued health. When my dog was vomiting on one occassion, they provided great care to diagnose the issue and helped diagnose the reason for the illness. They also provide great recommendations for preventive methods to help avoid further illnesses in your dog's life. The only con I would say they have is that they do not really provide any help with regards to breeding and treatment for pregnant animals as they are not really an advocate for this process. All in all, I would recommend Banfield for anyone that wants a long life cycle for their pet. read more

I took my cats to Banfield over a year ago after signing up for the wellness plan. It was only after taking them to a new vet this year did I realize just how awful Banfield was! My cats were both taken away from me into a room for their exams, where I heard them wailing and screeching. This being the first time we brought them to the vet, I assumed they were just extremely anxious. Vet comes back and to tell us that they will need to come back to be sedated for the exam and vaccines because they were too anxious. They didn't want to "overload" them, or "hurt" them. I went along with it because I assumed they knew what they were doing and wanted the best for my girls. Brought them back, both were sedated, examined, given vaccines, etc. Fast forward to this year....they need their yearly exams and vaccines, and I couldn't get an appointment at Banfield, so I found a new office. Imagine my surprise when they were both docile and calm throughout the entire exam, including the temperature taking and vaccines. Not a peep out of either of them! I immediately felt like the worst person in the world for letting Banfield get away with with what they did. Not allowing you to be in the room while they examine your pet is unconscionable, and seems to be a trick they use to convince people that their pets need more exams and treatments! It's all about making money, and it's disgusting. Avoid them at ALL COSTS! With all the bad press Petsmart has gotten about their groomers, I really should have known better than to trust Banfield. I have been a Banfield customer for approximately ten years. Over the past several years, the quality of service has steadily declined to the point that remaining a Banfield customer is more of an inconvenience than anything else. My "home" vet location is in Yonkers, NY. I'd be remiss if I didn't point out that Natalie and Shaquanna are amazing; they truly care about my pets and always do anything they can to help. However, these two employees are the only redeeming qualities at this point. I recently tried to make appointments for my two dogs to have check-ups due to health concerns. I was told I could not get an appointment until NOVEMBER. I think it goes without saying that this is unacceptable. When I asked if my dogs could get an EKG, I was able to schedule an appointment. I have to wonder if this is because this service is not included in my wellness plan. When the results came in, it was found that one dog (Mudslide) needed a dental procedure immediately. Since none of the three vets in New York had availablity for several months, I was forced to make an appointment in another state (Norwalk, CT) to have the procedure. However, the doctor would not make the appointment until she administered her own check-up, so I had to make an extra trip to Connecticut. Also, they would not allow the appointment to be a drop-off, so I had to lose time from work. Mudslide has since had the procedure, and now I will have to bring him back to Connecticut for his follow up visit. Taking into account the added time, driving, gas, etc, I don't see why I should pay a monthly charge to Banfield if my local facility is not available to me. My other dog (Holly) was found to have severe cardiac issues that preclude her from having a dental cleaning. The doctor advised us to immediately start her on three heart medications, but Banfield Yonkers only had one in stock. Banfield Norwalk also did not have them in stock. So my dog was forced to miss a week of treatment while I waited for the medication to arrive in the mail. I was then told I could schedule a quick follow up visit for Holly on Saturday 7/11 at 12:15 pm. On 7/10, Shannon from Banfield Yonkers advised me that the doctor has to take lunch at that time, so I needed to come at 10am. It is abundantly clear to me that Banfield's corporate offices have little concern for their customers, no respect for their time and no consideration for people and their pets. I've gotten calls before with managers of other locations trying to placate me, promising that things were changing. I don't need more empty promises. I need to know what I'm paying for. Shannon just advised me that the next appointment available at Banfield Yonkers is in DECEMBER. Are my monthly fees going to be suspended until then? Over the past month I've spent an additional $2200 in vet costs (over my monthly charge). I'd expect a company to do everything it can to keep loyal customers who are committed to caring for their pets. I spoke with a few of the doctors at the various locations. The common theme is that doctors cannot be retained because Banfield insists on packing too many appointments into the day without ensuring the proper staff is available. I'm sure this message will fall on deaf ears, but I thought you should know that where I used to encourage friends and family to go to Banfield, I now advise them to stay away at all costs and I will NEVER sign up another pet with your company. read more

The tech came in and asked a couple of questions then took my dog for "blood work" well about 10 min later the tech,my dog and the vet came into the room,stating that my dog was good to go the vet states blood work,shots and the exam had all be done. She (the vet) did not ask if we had any questions or concerns. I have never been to a place where they exam you pet without you present. We had concerns that were not addressed. I have the Wellness Plan for the past two years at this hospital for two out of my 3 cats (I did not have my third cat at the time). I took my older cat for an emergency visit, because he was spitting blood. The staff was very nice and accommodating to schedule the visit, but when it came down to perform a surgery, they told me they were overbooked and they sent me to Banfield in Pelham or across the Hudson. This is understandable! It was OK up to now. When I arrived home and I looked at my cat I realized that they did not do anything to him. He was obviously in distress and in pain and they did not administered anything for the pain or any antibiotics for his infection. They performed a diagnostic and sent me on my way (Actually I called immediately and scheduled his surgery for the next day at Elmsford Cat Hospital and it went very well). When I asked the staff for antibiotics, for the night they told me that since he will have surgery next day, the next doctors will administer it!!!! A small observation: My cat is very old (almost 15 years old, but very agile and feisty and sweet, plus he is an outside cat) and he is drooling (we always are careful to wipe his mouth). Now he was drooling on his chin this mixture of saliva and blood and when I came to pick him up I realized that he was all dirty at his mouth(I wiped him when I left him there), they did not even care to wipe him around his mouth. It is a small gesture, but it really upset me. Yes he is old, and drooling, but when you are in care giving business ... Well, I won't comment more. I took him to Elmsford and we solved the problem. In all fairness I have to say that in the past I had also positive experiences at Banfield Hospital and this is why I still have the plan. I will wait until the next visit and then decide if I will continue with them or cancel it altogether. read more

My review is on Banfield not the actual store. The staff at this location are pleasant enough but skill level leaves alot to be desired! My beloved dog visited this location for her routine physcial (vet 1 examined her)...all was well (as usual) and we were sent on our way. Less than a week later blood was everywhere; we took her in and were told (by vet 2) that her anal gland had ruputured. How could that be when a week prior her anal glands were checked and per vet 1 "All is well"; vet 2 said there was no notation that vet 1 checked her anal glands (although it's part of the routine physical and we were specifically told her glands were fine and if they were full it would be a $10 charge to express them) and that they couldn't fill and rupture within a week. We were giving several prescriptions including antibiotics and sent on our way with a follow-up appt in 1 week. Follow-up again we were told "Everything looks good". Apx 6 weeks later, I notice redness and swelling around her anal area so I took her back in, (vet 1) examined her and diagnosed her with an anal abscess ON THE SAME SIDE! Vet 1 then goes on to explain that "She should have been giving Clindamycin for the rupture instead of the antibiotic the other vet prescribed"! Again...we are sent home with a couple more meds. Two weeks later (the day of scheduled follow-up appt) we get a phone call letting us know that the vet needed to push our appt back due to emergency surgery; we agreed. We arrived at our schedued time 5pm and wait to be seen....now it's 5:30....now it's 6:00...at 6:15 we finally inquire how much longer it will be, the response......... "I'm not sure, the vet is still in surgery". I"M DONE!!!! read more

I have been bringing my 11 year old lab to Banfield in Yonkers for about 6-7 years. Consistently we have received great service, and have been well taken care of. We have been through three doctors since we started, which is to be expected, and each one of them have been spectacular. We started with Dr. Satterfield, then Dr. Gabriel and now Dr. Celestino and they are truly loving, knowledgeable and caring. All of the technicians are very kind and knowledgeable as well. We use the wellness plan, and have had no issues. Never had any problems at this location, and while the wait can be a bit long at times, it comes with the territory. I try to schedule at non-peak hours. Great place, great service, and my lab always leaves happy. read more

It used to be a really good clinic to go to. Usually I would call up to make an appointment, and they would tell me to drop by the same or next day. But recently, their level of service has become downright awful. When I want to set up an appointment, I'm alway told that the next available one is a month away. I had blood work and urine analysis done on my pet for a potentially serious health condition, and I had to chase them down to get the results. I even got a response saying that they "could't find the results". Suffices to say I am no longer a client of Banfield. read more
