Mango Red Curry

Ordered the mango red chicken curry, the sauce was amazing. Not too sweet and creamy, great bedside manner with our waiter too.

amazing place! Very delicious food and staff are very friendly and welcoming. The decorations are so thai!

Duck Green Curry

Quiet on a weekday around 7pm - plenty of street parking with meters that are free after 6 pm. The staff are polite, prompt and attentive. I ordered a green curry with duck and sticky rice ($3) - when I asked for green curry, I am asking for all the usual ingredients that go with it + duck as my protein. Instead what I received was the green version of a duck red curry with pineapple and bell peppers, which I can still accept. What was unacceptable was that both the pineapple and duck tasted like it has gone bad - the duck was very salty, almost like the beginning stage of cured duck. The sticky rice was okay. My total ~$24 before tax.

Pad See - ew

This is my new favorite Thai place. They had quick service (takeout), delicious food, and reasonable portion sizes. So glad I gave it a try! Honestly, someone's description of the fried potato drew me in. Maybe I was just hungry, but I had to have them. They were hot, crispy yet tender, and so good, they did not disappoint. I was eating them so quickly I didn't even notice the dipping sauce until my husband pointed it out. We also had the pad see ew and chicken larb, and altogether it was enough food to last for 1.5 meals for two of us. (Easily over two meals for me alone, but alas) The food was ready in less than twenty minutes from when I placed my online order and since I was running an errand at target at the time it was easy to cross the street and pick it up before heading home. My only negative remark is that it's going to be hard to branch out since I just want to come back and eat here.

Yellow Curry - quite a lot!

Excellent rice! Overall, both my daughter and I enjoyed this place. The food had a little bit too much coconut for us, but I think that is a personal preference. We know there is coconut milk in pretty much all of Thai cuisine curry but in some the flavor is more pronounced than others. This time the coconut flavor was definitely more pronounced than in other places we've been to. But they give hearty helpings for the price and the flavor was spot on. FOOD: We ordered red curry, yellow curry, and pad thai. All were good but like I said for us the coconut flavor was a little bit too pronounced. We were impressed with how much chicken they put in. Definitely get your money's worth! The pad thai was also good but could use a bit more sauce. Overall though good! And the rice was awesome! SERVICE: weird they didn't do delivery at lunch but they do at dinner. They are open for lunch so why not? Everything was packaged nicely and they really stuffed every container full . COST: Very reasonable considering how much food you get!

Crispy Sweet Potato to-go $7.50 (5/5)

Do you ever eat somewhere, and after trying just a bite, want to try everything on the menu? That's what Bangkok Thai does for me. I don't know how they do it. But they make the most incredible Crispy Sweet Potato Appetizer. I'm not sure of the process, but somehow the potato is both fluffy and crispy. Its almost impossible to not just eat these in the car before you get back home from takeout. Also, I love a good Thai peanut sauce, and this place by far makes the best. Their Pra-Ram tofu, incredible! I want to put that peanut sauce on everything. And or dip everything in it. This dish just makes me so happy. I use to eat here all the time when I lived in the Bay Area. And sadly it has been years since I've been back. But coming back recently ... the food is just as good as I remember it. Please eat here.

I've always said that I love the ambiance of holiday popup bars but not the price tag. So when I…read morediscovered Little Plearn Thai by my alma mater that caters to the student budget, went all out for their holiday decor, I knew I had to stop by. Arrived with 10 min left for their HH discount so got their two mojito and sunrise mocktails and 3 appetizers, satay chicken, curry puff, and potstickers. Then onto their dinner menu of Moo Dang dry noodles and ginger sole before finishing off with one of their fun holiday drinks for dessert, the peppermint eggnog for just $8.50. Even the ones with alcohol were only $10-$11. For the price of a few drinks at a popup bar, we got drinks, dinner, and leftovers for lunch. Must be the Econ major in me.

Stopped by Little Plearn for lunch since it's just a block down the street from me. We ordered the…read moreduck over rice and the mild pumpkin curry lunch special. The duck over rice was probably a 2/5 for me, and I definitely would not order it again. At first, I thought it was decent because my first bite was mostly sauce and rice, but once I tried the duck, it fell short. The skin was more slimy than flavorful, and the meat itself had a noticeable funk to it that made it seem lower quality. Luckily, the pumpkin curry saved the meal. I really enjoyed the flavor, and it was easily the better dish (still would rate it a 3/5 though). If you're like me, I'd skip the lunch special and just order the curry as a regular plate since I did not care much for the side salad or vegetarian spring roll. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to come back since there are so many Thai restaurants to try in Berkeley, but Little Plearn is definitely a convenient option near campus, especially for students looking for a quick lunch.

The corn cakes were fried just right so they were golden on the outside but soft on the inside and the slaw and sweet sauce elevated it. I would get both appetizers again. For entrees we had: Mama Pad Kee Moa (3.5/5) - instant noodles with fresh veggies and very thin beef. Flavor was good, but the beef missed the mark because it was lacking. Massaman Gai Curry (5/5) - the curry was so flavorful in this dish and the soft potato complimented it very well. Definitely the winner of the night. Chicken Khao Pad (Fried Rice) (3/5) - rice was a little too dry and the thinly cut chicken again did not pop out in the dish. Overall, very fresh and authentic Thai dishes. Service was fast and attentive. There are plenty of seating options to dine in, but I also saw a lot of take out orders. Street parking can be difficult on Shattuck but easier to find on the side streets.

The green curry noodles came with vermicelli, and I wanted to try it since it's what they recommend, but it just was not the right texture for the curry I felt. The flavor of the curry itself was not super flavorful. I felt like more coconut milk could have been added to coat the noodles more. The spring rolls were good. I enjoyed the peanut sauce. We also sat at the front by the door, and it was rather cold in that seat.

I've always wanted to dine at Sistory for brunch, but coming in the evening, it wasn't too busy. There was a steady flow of customers and take-out orders. The restaurant is warm, cozy, and quaint. There are several tables for pairs or parties of four, plus some artwork displayed. There was only one server who was juggling customers, but we were well taken care of. My best friend and I shared Roti Dip, Pad Thai with Chicken, and Yellow Curry with Tofu. The roti was so flaky and warm! The Pad Thai tasted good and was typical of the ones I've had. The curry was robust and flavorful! Being mild, it was a bit spicier than we had anticipated. So if you have a low spice tolerance, keep that in mind! We also got Thai Tea, which was refreshing! Portion sizes were good, and we took our leftovers to go. Sistory Thai Kitchen is an addition to the Albany and North Berkeley area. I wouldn't mind coming back to try their brunch! They're located off San Pablo Ave. with street parking out front.
