My family ordered garlic noodles, laksa soup rice noodles, pad see ew, and a recommendation with noodles and Thai plus Malay sauces. After I was introduced to this restaurant, there was no going back. This place has such amazing and delicious dishes. I was here all the time in college, and I try to go back whenever I can. I genuinely dream about this place. My go to meal is the hokkien noodles with the Thai flavor and chicken. It's also a very good bang for your buck. If I get this meal, I'm eating for the rest of the day. The service is always super quick! Sometimes, there might be a line, but they do a very good job at getting the food out quickly. The bowl of noodles were so large, I'm glad that I only ordered one and shared it with my daughter. We also had the Thai tea in a pouch It was OK. When a friend first recommended Toss, I thought we were going to a salad restaurant. Toss is a casual, student-focused destination (very close to Cal). You stand in line, order, and take a number. Food is delivered to the table. This is my second time here. Each time we've had a group of four or more. The process is efficient, and service is efficient. The noodles are delicious! We had a mix of dishes and all were pleased. The ratings from our group of six ranged from 7 to 9.3 (really). Still very good after all these years, but they now have an air freshener machine in the dining area that pumps out a nasty strong smelling scent that's like a cheap body spray. They need to cut that out because the main smell in a restaurant should be the food, not an air freshener. One thing to put that in a bathroom, but it's pretty disgusting and did ruin our experience as we were eating. The staff is friendly, the food comes out quick, and it's clean. A big bowl of noodles is the ultimate comfort IMO, they also have curry, soup, fried rice, sides, etc. Glad this place is still in business. read more

I've been coming to Toss Noodle Bar since 2021, and I'm glad the food quality has stayed consistent every time. My go to is the garlic noodle with hoikken noodles and shrimp, which also comes with bean sprouts, always flavorful and satisfying!! For drinks, the Thai tea is my favorite, their matcha looks like a newer addition and definitely worth trying. They use paper straws, which is eco friendly, but since I don't finish my drink right away, I grab an extra because the straw gets flimsy later on. The place has plenty of seating and a restroom. It can get busy since it's near a school I think. Staff are all accommodating & friendly. Parking is limited out front, but you'll find paid parking around the block. I believe the Malay sauce comes with a little bit of peanut, so people with a peanut allergy beware! Everything, even the vegetables, tasted great - I guess the only thing is that it was a bit too dry for my liking and would've appreciated maybe a little more moisture in the noodle. Not a big deal, I'm sure it was made this way to best bring out the flavors of each ingredient! In the end, I did take what I couldn't finish home because it's too good to waste. If you wanna do the same, note that they do charge 0.25 for takeout boxes. Other than that, I really enjoyed my visit! I am a Communities manager with a large company and we had an event and decided to go with a noodle bar as one of the food options. We worked with Toss Noodle Bar catering and the owner was so responsive. He walked me through the options, and pricing was very reasonable. The staff was also incredibly kind and resourceful when we initially went inside the restaurant to come up with an initial game plan on what to serve. Food was ready on time, and we even received a personal follow-up text from the owner after the event to ask how everything went. This is how you show you care. Every touchpoint we had with everyone was pleasant. If you are looking for either business or personal catering, don't rule out Toss Noodle Bar for an elevated experience. We transferred the noodles into individual charcuterie plates, and put the prawn chips and edamame into small charcuterie cups as a food accent. It's also great for providing options for guests with Gluten-free dietary restrictions, and we got a ton of compliments on the food. We come here about once a year and it's always a pretty solid experience. They have a build-your-own style menu where you can pick your noodle, sauce style, and protein. I always prefer the hokkien noodles which are on the thicker side, and they go well with the thai/malay sauce combo. It was my first time getting some items off the side menu, the highlight of which was the vegetarian dumplings. The pineapple fried rice was just okay, and the eggplant was a little disappointing given the quantity. I wish I can say it was worth the wait... but it was not. The broth was bland...it was warm but not hot...I added some Saracha to help. Little slivers of shaved chicken were provided with no seasoning. Don't understand how this restaurant has such a high rating...which why I wanted to try it. Would definitely not go back. I really don't look back at my Berkeley undergrad years with much nostalgic longing, especially when it comes to the indiscriminate way I used to eat. I was under the misconception that calories bounced off of me. Now they stick to me like dandruff on a UNIQLO sweater. This is my roundabout way of saying this is the kind of place I probably would've frequented as a budget conscious student. After all, who could argue with noodles tossed in a wok for lunch? That would explain the abundance of wrinkle-free faces among the diners in here. Everyone goes through a three-step order process. I chose my base of Hokkein noodles, the spicy Thai sauce as my flavor component, and pork for my protein. Oh man, saw this place after I visited the library. I had green curry w chicken and jasmine rice and dumplings. Don't judge me! The green curry was life! I wanted to swim in it. The dumplings kinds got set aside cuz I had to eat every drop of green curry. I was able to finish the curry, dear reader, I also ate two dumplings. They were kinda meh but that's to be expected.
