Came here on a Friday night for an early dinner. We were the only customers dining in. Here's what we ordered: Curry Puffs 4/5 Hot Wings 3/5 Pad See Ew (Beef) 4/5 Beef Noodles 5/5 Restaurant definitely gave off mom & pop/family owned. It was cute inside and very warm. Service was good overall. Food came out fairly quick. I was pleasantly surprised by the curry puffs. Flaky pastry and sweet/savory flavors on the inside. Hot wings were okay. Pad see ew was good and the broth for the beef noodles were very flavorful. I'd definitely order from here again. read more

We ordered takeout. Ordered Tom Yum soup with tofu. Lots of onions and mushrooms. Also, of course, the tofu soup was tasty although a little bit more lime than I like in my yum soup. I was in town for work & had been craving Thai Fried Rice. Found this place on Yelp & decided to give it a try. The service was fantastic the second I walked in the door. It's small inside, but not cramped and very clean. All I ordered was Thai Fried Rice, but it was delicious! Can't wait for my next trip to the area to try some other menu items. read more

Ordered dinner through DoorDash as I'm in town for work. Food was still hot when it was delivered. Ordered Pad See Ew, which was delicious. Some of the noodles clumped together during cooking, so some noodles didn't get soaked in sauce, otherwise very good. Also ordered a side of sticky rice so I can snack in the morning. They didn't include any utensils or napkins, which was annoying, should be a given for delivery. read more

Food/Taste/Flavor: 3/5 - very different ratings on the dishes. We got both at spiciness level 3 but it was odd that the spiciness comes from chili pepper flakes (more like pizza topping than Asian spices). 1/5 - Pad Thai with Pork was overly sweet and the protein extremely dry. The noodles were really stuck together even while it was still hot. Couldn't finish this dish based on texture and flavor 5/5 - Pineapple fried rice with beef has great flavors with sweetness from the pineapple and saltiness and earthiness from the seasoning. Ambience: N/A - got food to go. Some nice paintings and Asian decor Service: 5/5 - cashier was really nice and allowed us to sit indoors while waiting for the food Value for price: 3/5 - dependent on dish. Still one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Merced! This cozy mom and pop shop makes everything delicious! Some dishes to recommend: green curry, pad Thai, Tom yum soup, yum nue salad, eggplant dishes, papaya salad, and anything from their lunch menu. They serve lunch options up until 3:30, and it comes with rice and a delicious veggie/butternut squash soup! The family who owns this restaurant are kind people and they always give me great service! Driving on 99 through Merced, we exited after finding this place on Yelp. I started with a tasty Thai tea which I've been drinking since the 90's. I ordered pad gra prow which they modified for me by adding green beans. The flavor, ah, was amazing and so tasty. My husband got the stir fried mix veggies. It came with a soup and that's when we new the rest of the food would be bomba delicious. We definitely will be back. read more

I was in the mood for Thai and this place had great reviews so I decided to give it a shot. I was lucky enough to beat the lunch rush and the server quickly got my order in where the food came out pretty fast. I ordered the pineapple curry off the lunch menu and a papaya salad. The papaya salad was perfect and I could hardly stop eating it!! However, the curry was more like a soup and was really thinned out. A woman was walking around checking on everyone so I asked her if this was how they normally cooked it. She didnt really answer my question but decided to take it back to spruce it up. A for effort, but still a fail as it was slightly thicker when the same dish came back out but still more like a soup. The flavor was good though so I decided to just roll with it and threw my rice in the bowl and got it to go. I would eat here again but would probably skip the curry next time. read more

Hands down, best Thai I've had in a long time. I get the Pad Kee Mow or Drunken Noodle everywhere I go. The fried tofu was light and crispy and the sauce was wonderful. The veggies were great and the taste amazing. I ordered to go or else I would have had a whole jar of chili oil on my foot it was so tasty. I moved in the area almost 2 months ago and I am in search for an authentic Thai restaurant that I am used to in LA. I am happy that I found one in Merced. We came here for pick up and the staff are all nice. They were very welcoming. You know it's authentic and homemade when you see the staff AND COOK to be thai. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are decent. We got the lunch special which is a smaller portion than regular but it comes with rice. I was also searching for a particular Thai sauce that I am used and behold...they have it here. That is definitely a PLUS. Anyway I will be back here for sure. read more

1 star is too many for this most recent pickup order. The pad Thai had barely any sauce, or vegetables, or tofu or flavor!! I mean it was basically a box of dry noodles. They were out of duck so we ordered stir fried eggplant with chicken. Did they even try? The eggplant was clearly a day old at least. The other vegetables were cooked to strings. The chicken may as well have been saw dust! Never again, Thai Star. This is inexcusable. read more

I have yet to eat in the restaurant as it's a bit small but the food is great. You can order online and pick up in 25mins, your order is always ready on time, hot very good. I think it gets looked over because they don't deliver, but totally worth the drive. read more
