I'm really at kind of a loss for words on how I really want to start this review, and its because I…read moream still flabbergasted at what I just heard the loan officer just tell me over the phone after him and I had been dicussing a loan for me that would allow me to not only consolidate several items into a single, and even smaller payment which wasn't even something that I was really trying to do. My purpose was to make a few improvements around the house to make our quality of life much better. And secondly to purchase several household appliances that have gotten older and outdated and broke down recently on us. Then the final thing was to ensure that my family had enough available cash on hand to handle a move to another suitable house to rent because where we currently live has been taken over from the wonderful landlord that we had, to a very obnoxious and highly spoiled brat of a son who's only ambition seems to be making as much money as he can and as fast as possible by selling off all of the tools, equipment and items that his father worked hard for his entire life and not even bat an eye while doing it. Anyways he discussed this loan with me in detail all morning and I sent him everything he asked for and I offered the single most expensive thing that I owned outright which was my 2008 Chevy Colorado 4 door Z71 4x4 with only 130,000 miles and in excellent condition inside and out as collateral for the loan because my credit score was less than desirable because when you are looking for a place to live each and every application that you fill out and turn in costs you an application fee and what you are not told is that every place will take your money, and then run your credit report and most likely select the first person who is qualified and happens to walk through their door at the right time. Then, after a month or more of applications you find out that not only has your credit score taken hits from each place checking your score, but you are steadily losing money from paying for the application fees that are hitting your credit score soo hard that it will very shortly become so low that you can't fill out any more applications because now you don't meet the lowest credit score that you can remain elegable to rent a place. All because of nothing that you did financially, but because your score is getting checked. So you are penilized very bad just for looking agressivly for a decent place for your family to live. Anyways, this low credit score that I didn't cause, and somehow the fact that my truck is a 2008 and I have several credit cards that I use and pay four times the lowest monthly payment on every month. The manager for Midland Credit Union in Urbandale Iowa where I have been a member for close to 14 years now and have had 3 successful loans with and have paid off for various things. Is treating me like Im not even a member. And the discussion that the loan officer and I had was for loan spread over 4 years for $12,000 using my truck in excellent condition and tons of aftermarket parts and equipment everywhere just needs to be run past the manager and it's go time. I am feeling a little anxious, but very confident about everything because the loan officer valued my truck out at pretty much the $12,000 mark that I was asking for in a loan. Now after several minutes of nothing I finally get a call from the loan officer and he is still sounding pretty upbeat over the phone soo I'm still in good spirits about the loan. He begins to tell me that the manager has informed him that she thinks that my truck is too old. And that it has too many miles on it. Then for the grand finale.... she tells him that that very maximum that he can offer me as a loan using my pickup as collateral and valued at right around $12,000: is absolutely no more than $5,000. I have no response because I am waiting for him to say that he is just messing with me..... but he's not and is trying to convince me now that it's still a good deal. And I still don't say anything right away, because if I did it would have been really loud and full of a lot of very colorful words and I wanted to talk to the manager at this point because why am I getting treated this way after 14 faithful years with Midland Credit Union and 3 successful loans, some for exactly what they were offering me, but without collateral. And I just sit there on hold for a long time with no manager explaining to me why exactly I was being treated worse than I ever had at any financial institution ever. I really needed to understand why I only qualified for a $5000 loan but you wanted my truck valued at $12,000 as collateral. And the manager would not come to the phone for whatever reason. Because apparently she has been the manager there for awhile now, but I know for a fact that her and I have not met face to face before and we had not history or issues with each other. I waited for probably longer than I should have for her to get on the phone. She didn't

This is a great credit union for really anything. They have awesome employees who love giving back…read moreto their community, are always friendly and helpful, and are consistently working on new improvements to make banking even easier for their members. It's a pretty quick and easy process to get a loan, set up a new account, and do a balance transfer. The location is decent being between home and running errands. They even have a fun TikTok page now. Overall I've had great experiences here and look forward to banking with them for a long time.
