Disappointing customer service with spoiled bottle of wine(corked) Came in a day ago and went to the reserve room to pick out a nicer bottle for dinner... first time going into that room. When I opened it was clearly corked. Took it back the next day to either get a refund or store credit so I could go back in the reserve room and maybe get something else and a few other bottles since I was interested in digging into those wines. Was told that if I didn't have a receipt or loyalty program no go. I get it.. sorta.. my bad for not having the receipt as I paid by Apple Pay however it's pretty customary that if you get a bottle that's corked and bring it back/send it back at a restaurant its no big deal... it happens.. bottles sometimes are corked... here the real problem ..Barcode and price were on the bottle (2020 barolo)and they could have probably pretty easily looked it up in a few minutes... but they chose not to and this was the managers decision. I left the bottle there and left the store Needless to say I'm not coming back here again. read more

I used to shop here when I first moved from NJ to Delaware. The store has been expanded significantly by the end of March 2023. The rear room of the store is the newly expanded area. They now offer an even wider selection of spirits, wines, beer and related items. Case wine discounts are 20% off. They also have a membership club using your mobile phone number. I usually visit here to purchase some last minute items or to refill my growler. They always have eight local beers on tap. My most recent growler refill was for the Dewey Beer Co. "Orbits a Star" Imperial (double New England) hazy IPA at 9% ABV. My 64 ounce growler cost me $21 to refill with "Orbits a Star". See my recent pics of which draft beers were available during my most recent visits. If you want you can sample some of their draft beers. This was one of my favorite stores in the area--I have been here probably 10 or 15 times and always had a wonderful experience. However, tonight, a cashier named Mike completely changed my perspective of this store. He was incredibly rude, demeaning, and sexist towards me, and was generally unhelpful tonight. This used to be one of the best stores in the area; always a good sign and wonderful staff, but tonight has made me rethink my patronage. I have never been treated with such unprovoked vitriol. I will not be coming back to Banks as long as this employee is around. read more

Great selection. I've never had a bad experience with the staff either. I'm from out of state and a couple years past 21 but I still have a vertical ID, which requires a couple extra steps to check, but they've always been nice about it and never give me a hard time. The place basically looks like a warehouse inside but you're not there for the atmosphere, you're there for the drinks. They have pretty good prices for the area and it's even better if you sign up for their points/rewards program and get some discounts. read more

We have been loyal customers for years due to the selection and unswerving kind service of your employees. Today, however , we were checked out by a woman named Kim. She should not be involved with customers. First of all, she loudly told us we were entering the wrong way. We had actually just seen the sign and we're turning around. The customer she was checking out looked at her as she was way too bossy. As she checked us out, I began to fill our case as she moved the bottles in my direction. Again loudly she said, "I do that." After having several kind exchanges with other employees, she stood out as a sore thumb. She needs to get over herself or be moved to the warehouse. read more

I've been here many times, mainly around the holidays. This store has a huge variety of specialty alcohol. It really beats mine ABC store back home. I love the assortment of flavored liquors and I like that they have airplanes bottles next to the register so that I can pick up a few "samples" while I'm there. They have pre-mixed bourbon & coke and bourbon & ginger in cans. I have yet to see that back in VA. The staff is always friendly and polite. The parking lot can get really crowded, but it goes in waves. Prices are reasonable. Always well-stocked. read more

For those out-of-towners visiting Delaware such as myself, you must know this important bit of info...you can't buy beer at supermarkets! Beer, wine and liquor (to make ya sicker) can only be purchased at liquor stores. The good part is that these liquor stores are often well stocked with whatever poison is you thang. Banks Wines & Spirits is just such a place that's in beautiful Millville. The folks are very helpful and this one gentleman was quite knowledgeable and hopeful with his kick-ass beer recommendations. The prices are great and they have a H-U-G-E walk in cooler with a ton 'o frosty cold brews. Check them out if you're ever in the Millville area. read more

To which he said "I don't care, you tell me how old she is or you have to leave." She's, 14 she is with us we said. To which he replied "she has to wait outside." No sir, with children being abducted, and this being an unfamiliar place? She does not have to wait outside. I used to love this store but the prices have gone way up! It's odd that every single decent Chardonnay is $12.99. It seems an odd and fixed pricing structure. They let four year olds in but won't allow my 20 year old daughter who is with me and not buying anything. Could not return an opened bottle of wine due to "Delaware state law." Very over-priced. Bought some wine and a six pack of our favorite beer from this place. The beer was skunked and not even palatable. Went back within 30 minutes of our experience in hopes of exchanging it or getting a refund. They refused a refund OR exchange and denied any responsibility. We drink the beer we bought all the time and know something was wrong. This place gets an F for customer service. Would never recommend and will not be back. read more

I visited this store with my daughter. She is under 21. According to the law she may enter with a parent or legal guardian. The cashier gave me an extremely hard time. I can visit the total wine and spirits and my child can accompany me. That's where I will take my business not to a place that would rather give a customer a hard time than simply follow the laws in place. read more

I'm 22 about to be 23 and the cashier told me and in my 4 friends had to check ids at the front. When we walked in he was yelling about other customer at his cashier and just turned to us and made us go to the front of the store. Like we don't like young 3 of the 5 of us had full beards. I didn't see any other customers having to do show ids before entering. I was wearing a bandana and my other friends were wearing sweatshirts. There were other people in the store wearing sweatshirts also. They told all my friends they couldn't go into the store. I don't understand how my bandana does better then a sweatshirt. I'm not sure what the deal was but why would all of my friends walk into the store if we weren't all AT LEAST 21. We then had to one by one with my bandana into the store. Also when I was at the register I bought 12 beers and handle and he was like" I'm gonna need to see your friends ids". I was like dude I'm not buying that much and they are AT LEAST 21. If I only that was 21 I would have walked into the store by myself. I will never go there again and I suggest if your a college student you don't either bc they will treat you like crap. read more

Although this store is about a mile from our house, I never go here. I have been treated rudely. I am from Pennsylvania, and in Pennsylvania, children can enter a liquor store as long as they are with an adult. Apparently that is not true in Delaware. I was not aware of this rule. An employee rudely told me there is a sign on the door. There are 10 signs on the door, most of them telling about the price of beer. There are always two ways to teach someone about a rule. One can be nasty and condescending, or helpful. Obviously this person felt the first way was the right way. I suggest going to Holt's liquors which is about 1 mile past on Route 26. They have an extensive selection and are much nicer. To show you how nasty Banks is, they rented a billboard in front of Holts that directs people to shop at Banks because that is "where the locals shop". Perhaps they treat the "locals" more kindly, but I have had a house in the area for 12 years and I avoid Banks. I suggest you avoid them too. You will have a much more pleasant experience at Holts. read more
