Stopped by shortly after 8 during the week to give Morning Buns a try. They had a pretty wide selection of baked goods including muffins, croissants and others. They also offer coffee and tea as well. When we were looking at the items we had asked a question to one of the worker and she was a bit rude, as if we should have already known the answer. This took us back a bit and decided to just make our selections. We went with the cinnamon roll, peanut butter croissant and a rice crispy treat. All items were pretty good and would order again. The cinnamon roll is pretty heavy as it has a large mound of icing on top, but definitely tasty. We will return to sample other items, but hope that the service improves. read more

Best assortment of pastry I can find amongst the East coast beach scene. The range, flavors and attention to detail are each impressive in their own right. Then you have the friendly staff, pleasant cheery ambience and tasty coffee. Definitely worth stopping in to try some baked goods if at a DE beach. My favorites: the pistachio croissant, cinnamon roll and nut marshmallow brownie. Adorable house right off the beach. Open 7-noon. For best selection recommend going on the early side. The photo of the case is from 11am on the off season, which leads me to believe that when busy they will sell out. We got an orange bun and a donut muffin. The orange bun was on the dry side and not worth the calories. I liked the glaze however, and it inspired to create the same at home! The doughnut muffin however had a supple center and crunchy outside. It reminded me of a cake donut that and muffin form, I would definitely get that one again. There was a special, buy a pastry and get a cup of drip coffee. On the upside, we didn't pay for the coffee. On the downside the taste would explain why. Surprisingly good bakery in a tourist town. The first thing you'll notice when you walk in is how beautiful the pastries are. The cheese danish was probably my favorite, with a great balance of salty and sweet cream cheese filling in a flaky pastry. The pistachio croissant had lots of filling, but the filling was not too sweet so it wasn't overwhelming. The cinnamon bun had a very generous layer of icing on top, which I found to be a bit too much, but I think anyone with a sweet tooth would enjoy it. Overall, all the pastries are fresh and flaky, but in my opinion they are just a tad dense rather than being light and airy. Regardless, it's still a superb bakery and would hold its own in any city in the US. read more

What a huge find in this little place! I stopped because at 6:45am there was a line forming. I stopped and got in line just to see what the interest was. OMG everything we got was spectacular. Everything here is SO DRY! The presentation was beautiful and the flavor combinations are interesting, but when you get to the middle of it, it's too dense and flavor-less. 1. Only the top of the orange roll was edible. 2. The top of the apple muffin was good too, but the inside had no flavor. 3. The lemon raspberry scone was by far the worst - a good scone is hard to make I know but this one is rock hard. 4. The donut muffin is hard on the outside and the inside has no flavor and is so dry. We frequently come to Bethany for vacation, but today was my first day having Morning Buns! The staff could not have been nicer. I ordered a cinnamon bun and a monkey bread to split with my husband and they are both DELICIOUS. Unfortunately, their espresso machine was down (which they told me about immediately, and I appreciated it!) but their regular coffee was really good. I would go here literally every day if I lived in the area. WoW! Dangerously good pastries, and SO fresh. This is the best bakery I have been to in the east coast so far, not even exaggerating - it reminds me of the fresh bakeries in Europe. They start baking at midnight the night before and are only open from 7 AM - 12 PM so you have to get there early! Some of my recommendations include the cinnabon, pecan sticky bun, cheese danish, and their ham and cheese danish if you prefer savory. You can tell by the line that this place is a HIT! Open only in the mornings, they specialize in delicious homemade pastries. We tried the pecan sticky bun (to die for!) and the cheese pastry (delicious). We also ordered a raspberry danish, but we're too full to try that one for now :) They do have some COVID procedures in place for safety reasons - must wear masks, and only two parties in at once. Theya re open from 7-12 but sell out by 8 or 8:30 so what's the point of a larger space, was it not to bake more pastries. We arrived at 8:06 waited about 10 minutes to get in, 8 minutes to take our order and then waited 28 minutes in line just to pay and there were only a few items left; in all over 40 minutes- so never again. Many more people pulled up and left disappointed and frustrated with no pastries. There is only one door in and the same door out so you have to squeeze by to leave. Only half the shop is utilized so a very tight fit. To inconvenient to stop, not worth waiting in line at the break of dawn for 45 minutes. And by the way, the lady waiting on us was rude. As far as I'm concerned this place is one of the best bakeries I've ever been to and everyone should be seeking this place out. I was so excited to come here one morning I woke up at 6 AM and could not wait to get there by 8 AM. Even for the expectations that I had I had no idea it would be this good. The bake shop is a cute colored house that you can't miss with lots of parking in back. Waking into the store I thought it was extremely cute but I wasn't wowed until I actually started eating the pastries. I ordered a pull apart monkey bread, doughnut muffin, cheese Danish and raspberry lemonade scone. Every single one of these was delicious. I loved the pull apart bread, you could really taste the fresh made dough and the vanilla bean that was in there. The muffin tasted exactly like a doughnut but better! Crispy on the outside and soft in the middle it was to die for. The cheese pastry was not sweet and actually a little savory, there was a great balance with this one. Finally the scone was just a flavor bomb and the dough was soooooooo good. I always associates scones to be dry and tough but this was melt in your mouth good. I was impressed with this place. I've been to France, Italy, all over the us, nyc and I haven't found a shop that I like more. It's THAT good. While eating in, I read the article about the Mom and daughter team and I just want to support them even more. The pastries were inexpensive and all I kept thinking about is how I would pay 3 times the price for the same item. I dream about this place daily and wish I could come here more often. Quaint little bakery down by the beach, have gone there for a few years now and probably have tried almost everything. Pastries are good. You MUST get there early, like w/in an hour and a half from when they open (open at 7) as they sell out fast. They are open until 12 but I don't imagine much is left by then as I've shown up at 8:30 and they have been sold out of almost everything, kind of disappointing. I've come here a few times to try a variety of items based off the reviews. The cinnamon and pecan rolls are always so dry! I don't understand why people rave about them. The only thing that's not dry are their croissants which they hardly ever have available. The muffins are very heavy, dense and super dry as well. Don't even bother asking for a coffee, I've attempted to order one more than once and every time I have they didn't have milk, mind you, there's a grocery store right across the street! The person waiting on us did not know where things were , must of been new . Boxed them all asked us our name and slid down to the cashier. Well get to the cashier she reopens the box and touches one of the pastries with her hands to see how many were there??? I told her a better way to do this is when the person boxes them up put the total on the box with the name not just the name. Some excuse why that was not a good idea?
