Went in March for a hysterectomy. Outpatient doors were closed said to go through the ER. Go to…read morethe ER they make you walk all the way to regular administration who's doors are open with a closer parking lot then the ER. I have a port because I have Multiple Sclerosis and receive my medication monthly by infusion, they refused to use it without an Xray. They also made me pee in a cup to prove I wasn't pregnant...it takes 3 appointments, waiting 30 days and a biopsy that is the most painful thing I've ever experienced in order to get a hysterectomy, who would get pregnant in that small window of time where I took 2 other pregnancy tests AND had an ultrasound. Plus since it was surgery I hadn't drank anything. Super annoying. When I came to the nurse who took care of me was great, very easy going, was prememptive with care like had a heater thing ready for me and water, explained everything, his energy was very good and calming, perfect for what was happening. I chose to stay the night in order to have pain management because left to my own devices I let the pain go too long and it causes problems. My first nurse was Coraline. I had to pee as soon as I got there, I asked her and she asked me to wait 5 minutes. Luckily for me the nurse who does the blood pressure, I think her name was Cheyenne helped me and was super sweet the entire time. Caroline did eventually come back but not in the 5 minutes and didn't remember, she did not seem very experienced. Then later in the evening when she came in I asked to have my water filled and she again said later and that I had gatorade, my mom had gone and bought snacks because Caroline couldn't find a phone for me to order food and she did place the order herself but obviously I'm not going to page the nurse everytime I need something. A very nice man, the one who transported me, saw my mom with the bag found us a phone and apologized that we bought everything he seemed pretty irritated that this wasn't taken care of by the nurse. I didn't get my water refilled until the night shift when the blood pressure guy Chris came in, he was also great. I don't remember my nurses name that night but I really liked her, she was very friendly and competent perfect care after a very long tiring day. Checkout was easy. I just really wish they had used my port because I would've been far more comfortable and that's why it's there. Coraline could also use a little help in making sure patients are comfortable, she's the only one who didn't seem to recognize what was going on.

I went in, by ambulance, in severe pain, in my right upper quad/abdomen. It was so bad, I couldn't…read morebreathe. I had to wait in the lobby more than two hours. Shortly after being left there, I got a real bad wave of pain, along with getting really hot and sweaty. My partner told one of the ladies at the desk, and she just said we have to wait. Then, they called back a man who didn't appear to be in any pain, and was able to walk normally, without help, while myself and another woman were both miserable with pain. When I finally got called back, they slowly started doing tests, first, checking for issues with my heart. But, going from an experience my girlfriend had December of 2024, we were both thinking it was my gallbladder. Then, they took blood, and gave me fentanyl for the pain. An hour later, it didn't do a thing for it. So, they gave me a different one, which also didn't help. I was finally taken for an ultrasound of my gallbladder, pancreas and liver. The tech had a hard time finding my gallbladder, when I laid on my left side. So, accurate views may not have been possible. I waited nearly four hours for those results. After nearly 7 hours there, a PA comes in and tells me there's sludge in my gallbladder, but it's not necessary to have emergency surgery. But, she wants me to follow up with a surgeon. She told me to follow a low fat diet, which I have been doing for 11 months now, to lose weight. I was discharged after that 7 hours, and the pain persisted until I went to bed, five hours later. Even now, I'm having mild pain, off and on, and I'm also starting to feel it when bending over. I saw the ultrasound report, in which they say it's sludge, but they were unable to see everything, due to bowel gas, obstructing the view. If this was the case, why didn't they do further tests? What if they missed something critical? I do have an appointment with the surgeon, next week. So, we'll see what she says.

I was taken to a very cold room. I again explained why I was at the hospital. Four times before seeing a doctor. I was told to strip down and put on a gown, I explained that I cannot do this by myself, they stripped down in this extremely cold room put on a heart monitor (which was not even near the reason for being here). The female Dr. with a strong accent came in and first thing she said very rudely "What is your emergency." I explained for the fifth time. She said "there is nothing I can do." I said "why"? She again rudely said "We only handle life threatening issues." I asked her to explain, she could not even describe what she considered a life threatening issue. She only repeated same tone thre times. I asked "do I need to be litrally dying". Then started to judge me and insulted my intelligence. Then it was on!!! We had blows!!!! I'm not proud of my behavior and the exhaustion of the drive got the best of me. I needed compassion and clarification, not rudness obscurity. THE ONLY REASON I GAVE 3 STARS IS THE HOSPITAL STAFF SHOWED COMPASSION. I should have been told at registration or at triage this hospital is only for seriously death or life. I would have gone to a different hospital.

Before my son was born, I went through and read a lot of reviews from…read moredifferent hospitals and was nervous about going to Banner Desert - where my OB delivered. I could not have had a more dramatically different experience than what I saw in the reviews - it's safe to say that the management has heard your concerns! We came in at 9:30pm to a very full labor and delivery floor - cancelled the inductions for the day & a woman had been waiting for a delivery room for 7 hours longer than me... Things were not looking too promising. The nurse in triage, Kristy (I hope I'm spelling that right) moved MOUNTAINS for us. She continuously let us know what was going on on the floor and how my labor was progressing. When there was no delivery room available and the nurses were literally spread to their max, she found a way for us to get to a room to help alleviate my pain and welcome my son into the world. I have never felt more looked after than I did with her. Following that, the postpartum ward was delightful! The team that works in there is extremely respectful and caring. Food wise, pretty good! Not the typical icky hospital food that you hear about! If you get the chocolate chip cookie, put it next to a piece of bread for a little bit and it isn't as dry & oh so much more yummy! I hope & pray that everyone gets to have my experience! Even the OB who was on call... I don't know if I would have remotely the same delivery experience if it wasn't for him & his gentle encouragement throughout - you are the best Dr. Canestraro!

We went to Arizona General on Ellsworth and Elliot. From the minute we walked in to register until I left there was pleasant helpful staff. We arrived around 9pm, Emily at registration was kind and quickly got me registered. About two minutes later I starting receiving text updates about my wait time. These texts continued throughout my stay in the ED, keeping me up to date on my progress. AND, this morning I received another text offering help to find a PCP and make a follow up appointment!! The Triage team saw me within 20 minutes, and about 10 minutes later I was called back to a room. Dr. Okafor came into the room, listened to my symptoms, and immediately told me he would be ordering a CT scan and blood work. All the tests, blood work, CT scan, were done so quickly, I was truly astonished. Gratefully, nothing was seriously wrong, and I was informed I'd be going home. Karla, RN, explained all my discharge paperwork instructions very clearly, my IV was removed, and we were on our way home. This entire process was so quick and efficient! We arrived around 9 pm and we were back in our home at 12:03 am, this is including our drive time. THANK YOU to Karla RN, Michelle patient financial services, Krystal Lab Tech, Dayna Imaging Tech, and Dr. Okafor for all your attention, excellent care, and quickly moving me through. Having her take care of me was a privilege, felt as if she was my own mother or nana. I felt so seen/ cared for she truly made coming out of surgery not absolute hell. Room nurses overnight: I can't remember their names but they were true hospitality. They were upbeat, funny, kind and caring. I struggled so badly to get up after my surgery to use the restroom but they didn't give up on me and met me half way. I was so embarrassed that I couldn't even wipe but they took the shame away. They made me feel heard no matter what I said/expressed. Day nurses: I can't remember their names. In my opinion they were kind of super rude. When I tried asking questions I would just get told "ya. That's normal" never tried to explain anything to me. I had to ask about my own care etc and wasn't being told anything unless I asked. It was only going to be my second time using the restroom and I let her know that. I had to use my walker on my own soon as I stepped foot in the restroom she shut the door and told me to call out when I was done. I struggled to sit down, get up and wipe. I had to update them on my own how much I was eating/ drinking after my surgery for some reason that seemed to not be a factor like at banner. A male nurse who wasn't even on my team had to come and help me get up and walk because I wasn't getting seen. He made more of an impression in those 10 minutes he spend with me rather than the whole morning they "spent" with me.

I went in for an unexpected medical emergency. They were not super busy, but as soon as the ER doctor spoke to me, they went to work. They ran tests & we had initial results very quickly. It was a relief knowing someone was going to address my problem, especially because it was scary! In every hospital you have to be patient to some degree. There are always bumps along the way & you might even interact with a few people with little to no bedside manner & some may seem like they aren't listening. It's up to us to decide if they are important enough to complain about, because sometimes they aren't worth the time. Overall, my experience with 99.5% of the staff at Banner Baywood was great! They listened, they responded & I was treated appropriately. During COVID I personally knew too many people who were treated very inappropriately at several other hospitals in & out of AZ, so I was not so trusting. Banner Baywood gave me renewed hope. I am thankful & glad I chose Banner Baywood.
