5/13/26 Visiting one of my Nurses and her husband who was admitted. Parking 5/5 Lots of parking lots and options. Love the entrance driveway, roundabout and nicely done desert landscaping., Office experience 5/5+++ The main entrance and lobby is gorgeous. The large space is tastefully done in polished granite or similar stone with the center of the lobby has a design true to the hospital's mission. From the center of the Lobby you can look up several floors to the Mission Dome. Adjacent to the main lobby are other interesting side lobby's with Artwork, some depicting the Missions bones, SW Artwork, and a Wall-of-Fame 2006 photograph that captured nurses S who's now on our Medical Team. Nurse S and her husband were in the ER and Later that day transferred to a floor before undergoing a procedure to address their findings. The room was surprisingly spacious which easily competing six of us. It was a great visit with some truly amazing people we live dearly. This was my first visit to the hospital and from everything we observed and the care provided to Nurse S's husband I can see why they insisted on coming to Mercy Gilbert Medical Center.. Scam artists that act/operate as a healthcare company. Swindle thousands of dollars from people and then try to charge more when the balance has been paid and they won't provide documentation for their claim of a bill being increased (after we paid it off and received confirmation by two of their employees) by the insurance company. We will be researching legal advice and reporting this behavior to any and all government oversight agencies that we can. You also have customer service/billing support based out of India. Your "employees" barely speak English and are very rude and refuse to provide evidence of their claims that we owe more (after the balance was paid in full). When we asked for her name, she hung up on us so that we couldn't grab her name. You shouldn't be allowed to operate any business like you do, let alone one that supposedly is there to care for people's health care. read more

I had a really frustrating experience with Dignity Health Mercy Gilbert's pre- registration customer service. Their call center is outsourced, and the representatives clearly don't have a solid understanding of basic insurance procedures. What should have been a simple issue turned into a long, exhausting process with no clear answers. On top of that, their listed hours say 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, but no one actually starts taking calls until around 9:00 AM, which is really misleading and inconvenient. The hold times are also unacceptable--over an hour just to speak with someone, and even then, the help provided was minimal at best. Overall, this was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had, especially for something as important as healthcare!! Horrible customer service! read more

Omgosh horrible experience. My mother came in for outpatient surgery and they sent her prescription to the wrong pharmacy and wouldn't change it after we told them they were closed and they insisted they weren't and we would be able to make it on time. They were closed and we cannot pick up her prescription that she needs she is in pain and she needs antibiotics they won't send in a new one and they said to call her doctor and they are already closed. read more

If you have an emergency situation and need immediate, private service - this is not the location to go to. You're better off going to a smaller E.R. location. Most hospitals have rooms for their emergency room patients but at this location you'll be situated in a small area within their hallway separated by curtains from other patients. All your business can be heard by the patients to the left of you and the right of you. For instance, we knew the patient to the left of us was there for appendicitis and had bathroom issues at least twenty times that day and the patient to the right of us was 16 weeks pregnant with complications. Whatever happened to HIPAA rights and violations? For a hospital that looks so very fancy from the outside, the emergency department situation is not up to par and very substandard. The nurse and doctor/PA who helped us were wonderful but it's obvious that they are understaffed and the logistical setup needs to be reconsidered and reconfigured if they truly care about the community they serve. We were there for 7 hours! read more

When checking into the emergency department due to chest pain and fainting, a blonde petite woman who is basically a receptionist gets to play god and decides if you're high risk or if you're low risk. She sent me back to the waiting room with a blood pressure reading of 170/92. I am a 27 year old female. As I was waiting I used the bathroom and completely fainted on the floor. Once I came to, I walked to the blonde receptionist and told her what had just happened. She told me to "go sit down". That was completely unacceptable and highly inappropriate. As we left, the paramedics met us at urgent care and evaluated me as high risk because of completely abnormal EKG's. Come to find out I have a genetic heart disorder called Wolff Parkinson's White syndrome. This can be fatal if a patient goes into cardiac arrest, ex.- passing out, chest pain, irregular heart beats. Let it be known that this woman double downed and still wouldn't have a doctor just check me. Moral of the story is, if you can go to a different emergency room I highly highly recommend it. I went to the Mayo, they assessed me as high risk and kept me for observation. If I hadn't advocated for my health, I could very well have died. I hope my story helps and saves people as well. Hopefully someone from will reach out to me and apologize as it was the scariest day of my life. read more

Worst hospital visit ever. Brought my newborn in because he can't go to the bathroom and if he does, his stool is hard as a rock. Waited an hour and a half and still didn't get seen. Told them we were leaving and they said we were gonna get seen probably in like 10 minutes. Like for real?? an hour and forty min?! Maybe more?! And that wasn't even certain, they hit us with the probably. We declined and drove back home. I highly suggest if you need to be seen pretty but isn't life threatening that you make the drive somewhere else. Good luck y'all! read more

I am extremely concerned and disappointed with the level of urgency shown in the emergency room today. I brought my mother in because I believed she may have been experiencing a stroke, which is widely known to be a time-sensitive medical emergency. Despite explaining this during check-in, we were left waiting approximately 15 minutes before even being processed. It is very troubling to see potentially life-threatening conditions seemingly handled with the same level of priority as non-emergency issues. In situations involving possible strokes, every minute matters, and delays can significantly impact outcomes. I understand emergency departments can become busy, and I respect the hard work of healthcare professionals. However, the lack of urgency in this situation was alarming and unacceptable from a patient and family perspective. I hope this concern is taken seriously and reviewed appropriately so that future patients experiencing critical symptoms receive the immediate attention they need. read more

Frankly, it probably better to just go ahead and expire, bc if your pressure is up before going there. it will only get worse here.. having to stand at the front desk and give ur info thru prison glass is the first issue... then go to a hallway to be seen while twenty other patients are there next to you being seen with zero privacy. it was like a different country or a large underfunded skid row atmosphere , or tv stage inner-city scene, the stroke wh been better... read more

This is my 2 d trip here and they are totally incompetent. They take way too long to get labs done. I honestly think they're just padding their bill. Nursing staff does not seem to have a clue. Half of them barely speak English. The process of getting treatment is very slow. I would highly recommend going somewhere else. read more

I would not recommend this hospital to anyone. My 82 year-old mother visited the ER for constipation and urinary issues last month. The ER doctor performed a procedure and we thought we were going home. They suggested we stay overnight to monitor my mom's condition. That sounded reasonable. Little did we know that 8 days later we would be leaving, with my moms health so much worse than it was when we started. We felt lucky that my mom was even alive! The incompetency and negligence that occurred during her her stay was completely unacceptable. The doctors on staff were part of a residency team, who completely prescribed medication over and over that was harmful to my mom. At one point, they tested her to see if she was catatonic. I cannot express loud enough to steer clear of this hospital! I am shocked by all the good reviews. Maybe people that are upset do not review, but honestly, you di not want anything to do with this hospital and the incompetent doctors who work there. read more

Nurses here don't have any training. Make sure you MAKE them let you read your paperwork they're having you sign because they will try to get away with anything. They also don't give people rooms and will just stick people in the hallway with a cot, put people out for 10 hours when they say they're going to "help them" and "be right back with a doctor". I was hysterical for a pretty good reason and then one of the nurses literally sneered at me from across the hall - the same nurse that came rushing to hold me down and literally used his hand to cover my entire face (nose and mouth) and suffocate me while holding me down. I had to SCREAM " I CAN'T BREATHE"....MULTIPLE TIMES before the nurse to my left was HORRIFIED staring him in the eyes saying "I don't think she's spitting, she's not spitting". He just kept saying "She's spitting". How can I be spitting when I'm saying "I can't breathe"? These people are lunatics. I was nearly overdosed. I would never recommend this hospital. Don't come here if you are experiencing heart issues. We brought my daughter back for the second time in a month, at her doctor's request. We're sitting in the waiting room waiting and waiting. There are two other people also with heart issues also waiting. One of them said she was brought by ambulance. Why would they make you wait in the waiting room if you were deemed urgent enough to be brought by ambulance??? Our first trip was fairly unhelpful, as they ran a bunch of tests, then referred her to a cardiologist. Why is it so hard to get decent health care??? read more

Formal (for hospital commendation or patient feedback form) I would like to commend PA Nicole and RN Jacob in the Emergency Department for their outstanding care. My wife and I visited the ER due to post-surgical complications, and both providers demonstrated exceptional professionalism, compassion, and expertise. Absolutely love the staff and my experience at the hospital, but it was a complete nightmare when it came to billing. For some reason when it came to working with champ VA, it was impossible for them to build them, but it was because they submitted the bill incorrectly and every time I tried to call and get it adjusted the representative weren't able to help or do anything it wasn't until I went to the hospital itself to find the correct phone number where I was able to get assistance, love this hospital, but they should really work on their outsourcing and the information that they provide as they kept saying they're unable to change the bill or do anything, but did not provide any resolution like a number to call or ways to resolve the problem. I will most likely be going to another hospital to avoid any issues like this in the future. read more

Terrible medical facility! The front desk staff is not knowledgeable about insurance processing. Gave information that was incorrect. Was supposed to be under insurance and then they had several nurses and such who were not in network talk with me and billed me for them since they weren't in network. They wouldn't send documentation and 3 years later went to collections. The bonus to this is the incompetent medical staff said nothing was wrong and 2 days later GP found several issues on a test and prescribed medication which fixed the problem. Big medical group who doesn't care about their patients or train their staff well. read more

Our experience is the ER was Terrible, my 22-year-old son was having severe chest pains, he got to the ER first, he checked in and told them that he was having bad chest pains, they said they would let him know when they had a bed ready, I got there about 10 minutes after him, I assessed him, I had never seen him like this, he was in so much pain, he told me he felt like he was dying, after about 10 minutes I went up to the window again and told the lady that my son needed to be seen right away, he is having severe chest pains, she looked at me and said, I will let you know when we have a bed ready, they did not even triage him, which I thought was crazy. We finally got called in, but then waited another 20-30 minutes for someone to assess him. They did an EKG, took his vitals, took blood for testing. After the results came back from the blood work, they told us that his troponins were highly elevated to 3500, for a man his age they should be 35. They said he had myocarditis, which is very serious, he was then admitted and eventually was moved upstairs to a room. I was told by the staff that because of his age, he was not taken seriously, we waited almost an hour to be seen for severe chest pains. Something needs to be done, this is unacceptable, chest pains should always be taken seriously, no matter the age. Things did greatly improve when my son was moved upstairs, we had a great nurse named Mike (B253), he was his nurse for 3 days. read more

in january of 2025, i went to the er as recommended by my pcp and gynecologist after experiencing severe bleeding inconsistent with anything i'd previously experienced. i checked myself in and they triaged me pretty quickly due to the bleeding, but all vitals were normal so i did have to wait a while for a bed -- which was fine, i understood that my condition wasn't going to be the first priority. however, what wasn't fine is that when i was seen by the er doctor, she was incredibly patronizing, condescending, and rude when reviewing my reason for my visit. she insinuated i was overreacting, and then told me i was "probably just having my period". i'm 30 years old -- i know what my period feels like, the timing, etc. so when i insisted it wasn't and that something is wrong, she rolled her eyes and insisted i didn't know what i was talking about. i pressed for more tests and eventually an ultrasound confirmed i had burst ovarian cysts i knew nothing about, as well as some internal trauma. you hear about women being minimized and patronized all the time by doctors -- i especially never thought i'd be gaslight by a *female* doctor, especially regarding a female issue. god forbid my issue was life-threatening -- who knows what her response would've been. i will never be back to this hospital, and i sincerely hope someone who has a more serious issue than myself doesn't get "treated" by that doctor -- because by the sound of it, that could be very dangerous. read more

Staff ignored my requests and communication was non existent. Had a bad experience giving birth and they did nothing to help me even though they said they would, just left me to my own devices instead of following through with anything. I loved my nurses afterwards who cared for me but not the doctor or attending nurses during my birth. read more

My husband was sent over from the core institute for fear of DVT. While waiting for our procedure to be done, we saw nurses walking away from their charts, leaving them open for anyone to read, no privacy screen what so ever, bathrooms smell like old stool, everyone is triaged in the hallway or made to wait in the hallway with only a curtain as privacy from your neighbors. Everyone is free to stare as they walk by the hallway. When it came time to collect our copay, they tried and argued that our copay was double what it was, stating someone with the same insurance was just seen and that's what they had to pay. Forcing me to prove what we owe, instead of them just checking. Apparently if you have the same insurance policy as someone they feel a bulk charge of $300 is acceptable. We heard lab techs disrespecting patients when asked how much longer it would be, even being snarky when a patient said they were going somewhere else. Stating bye, I don't have to rush for you. All in all very unprofessional environment. read more

This hospital is beautiful and clean. The staff are beyond courteous and helpful. I'm not sure I've ever been treated so well in a hospital setting - from admission to surgery to discharge. Parking is plentiful. There seem to be plenty of safety checks in place so that patient care is done without error. No one wants to need a hospital, but when I needed them, Mercy Gilbert took great care of me. Overall wonderful experience. read more

I've been to this hell hole 3 times in 15 yrs. The only reason I went back was because the doctor that performed the colonoscopy surgery did so in this nightmare. My records show that I don't wake up from anesthesia quickly. The anesthesiologist confirmed this before the surgery but for some reason the peroxide blonde nurse seemed to think roughing me up and verbally abusing me would bring me around faster. If you accompany anyone to this so-called medical center stand close guard over them. read more

When I was there as a patient they stuck me in a hallway. They left me there for 3 days Same clothes I walked in with for those three days They put me on a gurney no blanket and trash everywhere There was one nurse that saw cockroaches coming from the trash and found a hospital janitor to clean it up. Once I heard her say cockroaches, I called my husband to pick me up. I finished recovering at home. About three weeks later I received a bill for 23,000 dollars for an ICU room. Well it took about six months to settle the bill. IF THIS WERE THE LAST HOSPITAL EVER I WOULD NEVER GO BACK. what an absolute shame!!!!!! I stayed one night at Mercy Gilbert this past week on the 4th floor of the hospital. All of the nursing care was excellent but the two primary nurses which gave me primary care were simply outstanding. Lissy and Victoria were very experienced but their care was well beyond simply performing the required tasks. Their kindnesses, pausing to stop and talk and going beyond the basic requirements made me and my family feel so special. These ladies could certainly be teaching young nurses how to improve and develop their nursing skills. Additionally, the two doctors I had, both the ER doctor Kerry (first name) and Dr Robinson (cardiologist) were both outstanding. They listened to us initially and then very calmly gave us insightful information which mitigated our fears and concerns. I give the highest marks to these two doctors. Idiots can't add and subtract. We paid the bill, idiots said we didn't, wife walked them through it. Yep it's a problem on our end. Idiots continued to bill us, wife called and walked them through it a second time, Dignity agreed a 2nd time that the bills are all paid. Collection notice sent to us by a collection agency and now I'm continually harassed by a collection agency via phone at work for a bill that we paid. Avoid this dump!!! Dignity sucks!!!!! read more

13 months after being treated for afib, we get a bill for $560.00. No itemization of what is was for. There was a large total and a large payment and small adjustment with a difference of $560.00. Have been getting the bill for 3 months and can't get an itemization and they won't accept their dispute form. Have complained to BBB of AZ and CMS.gov. Have an insurance claim from 12 months ago for this exact amount and it shows insurance paid $168.69 with a plan exclusion of $391.31. The insurance form says the amount billed exceeds the allowed charges for this service. You are not responsible for these excess charges. Can't get anyone at Dignity Health to acknowledge or respond. I really wanted to leave a good review after my wife had a procedure done and we were paying cash we contacted everybody was given A cash payment and we have paid it. Meanwhile, we keep receiving an additional bill after an additional bill after an additional different procedures, different things since the procedure. When asking questions about why we keep. bills they say oh you need to apply for a detailed listing of the procedures. Meanwhile, we keep paying bills that we have no idea what it's for because by the time we get them, they already say that past due when we had not received any other bill prior to the past due bill. This is ins this is insane, uncaring slithery like a snake, and no way to treat people who count on you to be caring and considerate and honest after dealing with this over the last couple of months I find that those were you so seemed to want twho count on you to be caring and considerate and honest after dealing with this over the last couple of months I find that hard to find the so-called Mercy in your name being delivered to trusting people. read more

I had a stay in January. Nursing, Physicians and other medical staff were great. The health care aspect was a 5 star. However, talking to a financial person was impossible. While In hospital was impossible to do, "they were very busy." When I called after hospital stay I was told financial people only talk to patients when in the hospital. I called the billing number, an off shore number, that was not helpful. I find I cannot get a resolution to a question due to the circular process. My question is a hospital specific question and there is not a person to talk to about this question. I give no star to the business aspect of this hospital. Seems to be a common complaint when they receive poor reviews. Their business department is affecting their yelp scores not the medical staff. read more

Worst hospital experience ever! They routinely take patients beyond their capacity and you end up on a gurney in the halls. When they finally found me a "bed", I thought I would be moved to a room, since I was being admitted, but no, I was just moved to an overflow area that had about ten beds, on toilet for patients, families, visitors and staff to share. I literally had to wait in a line to relieve myself. The were absolutely no electronics where they were warehousing us. I was given a mechanical bell (like you would find at a service desk. There was a table, and the trash receptacle was a small plastic bag taped to the edge of the table. No entertainment features were in this overflow area (nothing electronic), and you had to get creative to even plug in a phone charger. The beds had one thin blanket, and request for additional blanket was ignored. The oxygen was not plumbed into the room, each bed had a free standing large oxygen bottle. The only decor was a broken clock on the wall. The nursing staff did their best but in their defense they were very much understaffed. They didn't have the medicine I needed, so I had to have my own Doctor call it in to my pharmacy had to go pick it up and bring it to the hospital. No shower facilities and no gowns even offered. Patients had no control over lighting, noise, etc. The first night no food was offered and they told mine husband to hurry and go buy me something in the cafeteria before it closed or they could only offer saltines, jello and pudding. I discovered that you could order snacks from their gift shop (at your own expense) and they would deliver them to your room if you spent enough, but when it arrived they had shorted me a $5 coffee. Online request to deliver the missing item went unanswered. The reason I was admitted was because they were unable to get me an MRI procedure that I needed. When I left after 28 hours I was told it would probably have to be the next day. The other reason I agreed to be admitted was to be assured to see a Neurologist. She spent about five minutes with me and had not looked at the MRI I had done the previous week. An offer to speak with my primary care doctor was also dismissed. I finally left AMA. So that I could follow up with my own physician. Their forced consultations were ridiculous, for example they had both a PT and an OT staff member push me from ER to the overflow area so that they could charge for both consultations. I would never recommend this day to someone I care about, and they need To be investigated for many of their business practices. read more

Had an elderly neighbor (no family nearby) end up hospitalized at Mercy Gilbert last week.He spent four days there and when he was ultimately transported home he arrived in a hospital gown and was wearing no undergarments. He arrived at the hospital fully clothed and his clothes were in his hospital room. He was fully cognizant and able to assist being dressed. Hospitals are supposed to have a code of dignity which certainly would not condone this. Apparently, no such code exists at Mercy Gilbert. This man is one of the nicest men you could ever meet and he deserved to be treated like a person. We all do. No one deserves such indignity. read more

Decent care, but the billing department could screw up a cup of coffee. They accidentally cashed a check for $5000 more than I wrote it for. My bank fixed the error and returned my money. A month later they send a check for $5000 which I don't cash because, you know, it's not my money. Fast forward to over a year later and I get a bill labeled "Final Notice" for $5000. I had never received a bill for this before. I contact the billing department's customer service line, which seems to be in another country, and after speaking with 3 people, they tell me they'll correct the issue. Six weeks later there has been no resolution, so I attempted sending a message through the web form and now over a week later I have received no response. I just need someone to give me a straight answer here and no one at Dignity Health is capable of giving me one. read more

Beginning of the week my husband had to be taken to Mercy Gilbert we live about 30 minutes away. But love mercy Gilbert and only want to go here. It was slightly busy and my husband was in a lot of pain. But the staff from checking him in to the nurses and doctors were very compassionate and understanding his pain. They got him checked in and under care super fast. Got testing done and determined the issue with in a very reasonable time. Unfortunately he had to stay a few nights and have surgery. But everyone day nurses and doctors night nurses and doctors. Even the surgeon who did his surgery and the team back there working with him all! I mean every single one of the professionals were competent in their ability! The communication between the medical team was top notch. Meaning everyone knew what was going on. Next steps etc. I felt such at ease with them taking care of my husband. Mercy Gilbert is a great hospital read more

Man I wish I could remember everyone's name that helped me there, but I will just have to do what I can. I got stuck in hospital for 7.35 days after a knee replacement surgery Aug, 21st. Health issues on my end made recovery difficult and I was not exactly a perfect gentleman, however I am so very grateful to all the staff and Dr. Ramiswamy (spelling?) on the 4th floor there for nailing down all the issues as they popped up. Home now playing catch up with PT after a week down but making progress. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all that I had contact with while there. Great work, everyone! read more
