We moved into the area from Scottsdale a few years ago and I've been pleasantly surprised a few times now. Yesterday, my mom had to go to Arrowhead Abrazo's ER and a brief overnight stay. The staff were exceptional, supported her comfort as well as her clinical care, had great cleanliness practices and were thorough for her situation. I also really appreciate their MRSA and C-Diff prevention practices, especially for my senior-age mom. And the nurse updating me over the phone was a doll. Same great experience when I went about a year ago for a less intensive situation. Clean, friendly, thorough, respectful. read more

My friend broke her hip last Thursday. Came in by ambulance. Had surgery the next day. She was told by her doctor she needed to get up and moving immediately. However, there wasn't anyone around all day Saturday or Sunday to help so she laid in her bed all weekend. She had to use the restroom several times & had to wait over 20 minutes for help. Today same story but had an "accident" in her bed at 9:30 am. It is now 5:15 & no one has been in to clean her bed! Was told at 11:30 today she was being moved to rehab facility today. Still no word from anyone. Anytime we ask what's going on, they say "we're working on it..." Disgusting place. read more

My mother got brought in by ambulance due to getting a concussion, being a heart patient having to wait 16+ hours to get into a room. You need to do better when it comes to your staffing. Don't seem like they care. Having a list of her medications and denied giving one of them cause it was not on your list. Horrible bed side manners. Horrible patient focus care. We waited for over an hour to come in for walk in blood work. Then we were told the reason it took so long was because we were a walk in. However you cannot make an appointment for the LAB! The admissions crew is horrific but the responsibility comes from the top. Yikes! Then we were told the system was down. I love the hospital. My family has been a lot( I know not good), and everytime they get the help they need and nurses/doctors and receptionists are always so nice. My family has had care for their cardiac issues (I don't know specifics) and it has always ended out well! read more

Came to Abrazo Arrowhead for UTI, PCP told me I needed IV antibiotics. Checked in through ER and nurse there was very nice/ that's where it ended. Transferred upstairs to a room around 5pm. I kept asking when I would receive the antibiotics but always told 'I will check with pharmacy' . 10pm I finally insisted if I'm not getting IV antibiotics then I'm going home, suddenly the nurse 'found' my medication. Never saw a nurse beyond that. Followed by Dr Solomon Amdemarian and have never in my life been talked to so poorly. I filed complaint with hospital and medical board. IV infiltrated second day, I asked repeatedly to have it removed but was repeatedly told it was fine - it was not- see my pictures after it was removed and restarted in same arm !! read more

My husband and I went to Dr Chehval your urologist. He's great. His nurse is great. His office people tho..... not so great. Their attitudes are nothing like the doctor's. I also got charged 50$ for them to tell me to come back for a real appt and pay another 50$. Not ok. That's bad business. Period. But besides their completely HORRENDOUS ghetto lash extensions, they can't even smile or make eye contact when you come in. It's just ewwww. I never want to go back if that's how they run their business. I wonder if the doctor is aware. read more

We were at the hospital for approximately five hours with very little communication throughout the process. Initially, my husband's vital signs were taken, after which we were sent back to the waiting room without any explanation. About an hour and a half later, we were brought back again for blood work and a urine sample, once more without being told the reason for the delay or what was being evaluated. After another hour passed, he was sent for an MRI. The MRI ultimately revealed that his appendix needed to be removed, at which point everything moved very quickly and he was rushed into surgery. While we understand that emergency departments can be busy and that delays may occur, it was frustrating that no one took the time to explain what was happening or why we were waiting for so long. Even a simple explanation--such as a lack of available beds--would have been appreciated. The lack of communication made an already stressful situation much more difficult. read more

My cousin has been a patient several times at Abrazo Arrowhead campus and I would like to recognize the amazing customer service that Yesenia has from Conifer health. Her care and her compassion is second to none her ability to perform her job and make a patient feel special has made a major difference in my family's life. The cardiac ICU nurses are incredible!! My dad had major complications with his triple bypass and the nurses that took care of him not only kept him alive but also comforted us, the family, in a very traumatic situation. Everyone was attentive, knowledgeable, and you can tell they are genuinely good people on and off the clock. My dad's surgeon Dr. Pan and NP Brooke are amazing people with incredible bedside manner, communication, and are obviously extremely skilled clinicians. I know without a shadow of a doubt that my dad would not be alive if it weren't for the amazing cardiac staff at abrazo arrowhead. read more

Went in for severe back pain to the point where I can't even walk or get out of bed. Waited in this room for three hours. For them to just give me meds. They did no tests at all. No x-rays, no imaging. And sent me on my way with meds. I would highly recommend that if you have any lower back pain or sciatic nerve pain do not come to this hospital. read more

I had the worst experience at Arrowhead Hospital, from pregnancy to postpartum. At 20 weeks pregnant, I went in after losing my mucus plug, worried something was wrong. Instead of compassion, I was treated with rudeness and made to feel like I was wasting their time. I left feeling completely alone and dismissed. Fast forward six weeks later, I returned in active labor, already 5 cm dilated. The nurses left me sitting in the waiting area for over an hour, crying in unbearable pain, while they "charted me into the system" and waited on wristbands. By the time I was finally taken back and admitted, I was terrified and exhausted. The anesthesiologist who came in to give me an epidural was shockingly unprofessional. I have a fear of needles and everything was happening so fast, so I asked him to explain what he was doing. He responded sarcastically, as if I was stupid for being scared, and when I started silently crying, he slammed his utensils on the table and stormed out--refusing to give me the epidural. I had to wait another 3 hours in unbearable pain until another anesthesiologist came in to help. That level of cruelty and lack of empathy is something I will never forget. After my daughter was born at 27 weeks, she spent 70 days in the NICU. While there were some kind and helpful NICU nurses, the majority of the experience was heartbreaking. The communication was terrible. Some nurses would randomly tell me I couldn't hold my own baby, with no explanation, which left me in tears. They changed her discharge date multiple times without clear communication. They even performed scans and other procedures without informing us, and we found out about an infection she developed days after the fact. On discharge day, the hospital policy forced me to leave my older son with a volunteer in the waiting room because only one parent and one visitor were allowed in the NICU--no siblings. We couldn't even share that first moment as a family together. It felt like they stole something from us that we will never get back. To make things worse, there are no bedside cameras in the NICU--apparently "they don't work." This made leaving my daughter there every day even more difficult. This was my first birth, and what should have been one of the most precious and meaningful experiences of my life turned into a nightmare. I will never forgive the lack of care, compassion, and communication from Arrowhead Hospital. I would never recommend this hospital to anyone--especially to new moms or families going through such a vulnerable time. read more

Recently went to the Arrowhead ER with a GI blockage after a different brand hospital ER sent me home because they couldn't diagnose it. I knew it was serious though, and it didn't resolve itself. My PCP advised me to go to Abrazo Arrowhead's ER instead of the other hospital again. I did, and Abrazo Arrowhead saved my life. Specialists in the ER were able to quickly diagnose the GI blockage and make a treatment plan. They ended up needing to perform surgery, but they were able to do so laproscopically. Understanding the emergency, the team performed my surgery at 5 AM. Care was excellent. This is an older and smaller hospital, but they are far more able to diagnose and treat illnesses that are beyond the ER staff of the huge new state of the art hospital's ER staffs. read more

We can speak candidly about my data and I believe that she will give me a professional, transparent and caring response. Her medical assistant was both kind and careful. On 12-3-25 about 4 pm I took my wife to Abrazo Arrowhead ER as she was having some shortness of breath similar to 18 months ago when she was a patient here and after 10 days in ICU determined she had fluid accumulated near her right lung. It was eventually drained by a surgeon. This time we were strongly encouraged to have her stay overnight so the fluid they again saw could be drained the next day. It took until 2 am to get a room. After more tests the doctors decided there was not enough fluid to surgically remove it so sent her home with Lasix and antibiotics. Now she feels worse than she did before the 12-3-25 admission and cannot breathe without discomfort. We have wondered if they decided against surgical fluid removal due to lack of available surgeon or cost factors. Most RNs and staff were very nice but we expected better medical resolution than just pills that are not resolving her breathing problems. She needed the fluid surgically removed to she could breathe normally again. One positive note was when my wife was settled into room 2301A the RN Frank Lopez and his assistant Brian were two of the best staff you could ask for in a very busy hectic situation. read more

I was seen by Dr. Hood who performed 3 surgeries on my spine. I called to make an appointment to see him and was informed he is no longer practicing in AZ. I called to make an appointment with his replacement and was told I can't. The reason given was that he is not in the US and there is no time table for his return. I sent messages to his assistant and both messages have not been even returned. What's upsetting is that there wasn't a notice informing DR. Hoods is mo longer practicing in AZ. I also want to point out that whom ever answered my phone call was very short and acted as if I was bothering her. read more

My father was flown in for weakness in his muscles and unable to swallow and chew. Nurse Victoria in ER was extremely rude. her demeanor was not kind. She took the pillow from under my father's head, causing his head to fling back and then she stated "oh I thought you would catch your head", he's been trying to heal from this recently injury and she carelessly brushed it off as nothing. We reminded her to be cautious and gentle with my dad. She rolled her eyes and ignored us. My father was having trouble and had to spit up/throw up. I called the nurses station for assistance. Victoria came and was not kind. She rolled her eyes at my father when he had asked for assistance. I left to get pudding and when I returned my father was still spitting up and he was slouched over in an uncomfortable position. I immediately lend my assistance and also called the nurses station to get some help. The nurses were not helpful. I felt awful for my father. My father was extremely tired and had difficulty spitting up once more. The nurse only seemed annoyed. my father apologized for his health condition and felt bad for needing their assistance. In response to me reporting the nurse, we were only moved to a different section of the ER. Our new nurses were never made aware of the reason for my fathers admission and current medical condition. The disrespect and lack of empathy was felt did not go unnoticed for our visit. When I reported it - I felt like we were dismissed and moved to another section of the ER to convience the staff. I am currently a patient and thus far a horrible experience. The person i am sharing a room with is making this unbearable. Not long after I was admitted he proceeded to hit the call button 6 times in 25 minutes. Three of the times were within 5 minutes, each time complaining about it being too cold in room. He also constantly watches movies on his computer without ear buds/phones. Staff did nothing about this. I talked to a staff member and requested they move me to a different room. The answer was no. He then falls asleep at 11:00 PM, with the computer still on and the sound blasting. Staff is not very interested in addressing issues such as this. As you know, hospital stays are brutal on sleep with the constant interruptions for, blood pressure, blood draw, EKG's, etc., then I have to deal with a person sharing my room creating further distractions. read more

I was transferred from urgent care after all their tests said appendicitis while I already had what I thought was a cold. Got in triage quick and was sent back to the waiting room. I was in a lot of pain when I got there. I could barely walk. Was told they were waiting for a bed for me. I was taken back eventually to a room with a curtain stand thing between me and someone else. Was put in a chair. It hurts to sit up so luckily my fiancé figured out it reclined back. The nurse who did IV was probably the only person I actually liked there. The doctor seemed to ignore all of my concerns after the nurse and triage staff had already asked. I told him and he seemed like he didn't believe me at all. No one asked about pain before giving pain meds. The doctor decided to ask after the pain meds had kicked in and was helping. They took me to CT and explained they wanted to do contrast. I have anxiety about new things and I know people in my family who have had bad reactions to it. They had 4 people, including the doctor to try to convince me to get it after I had already said no before they gave up and did it without contrast. One of the girls even tried convincing me to let her give me an anxiety medication to get me to do the contrast. If I say no that means no that's my right. They ended up diagnosing me with a severe upper respiratory infection and a UTI. The UTI made no sense to me because I didn't have any normal symptoms of one when I've had any before. It seems like they were just rushing and didn't care and just wanted me to leave. The doctor prescribed me an antibiotic that the pharmacy told me is in the penicillin family. It's supposed to be marked that I can't have penicillin so how did the doctor miss that especially when I'm asked about allergies in triage? I said I'd take it for a day or two to see if I react before I figure out if I'm taking it anymore. Within the first day I had a reaction. Right before I was discharged the doctor also told me I only had one blood test result come back high and it wasn't anything to worry about. I ended up starting feeling worse and decided to look at my lab results in the portal. There were at least 6 that said abnormal. I started talking to someone I know who works in an ER, they said the lab results I wasn't told about were worrying. I have yet to see what I actually have but have a doctors appointment scheduled. I also looked at what triage put in for me coming in. When they asked about vomiting I said no, the person put yes. When they asked about my abdominal pain I said 2 days and it was a struggle to walk by myself or even get out of bed, they put that my pain started the same day I came in. All the questions about what I thought was a cold pretty much weren't there and I was visibly struggling with that. I was coughing deep and it hurt to cough which I brought up and was basically told I was fine. My chest hurt when I coughed. It was pretty obvious I'm miserable. I could barely talk because my voice was raspy let alone everything else. I don't even know if I'd want to come here again if I was actively dying. My fiance even noticed how rude people were busy but I didn't want him to say anything while we were in there. Edit: called the hospital patient advocate line because that's who I was told to call. Got sent to voicemail 6 times!!! I've left 2 and never got a call back. No one answers that line. read more

We went into the ED with an elderly family member and the entire staff was absolutely fabulous. We saw three doctors, four nurses and then of course- the techs. Every employee was pleasant, took their time to listen, and went above and beyond with their TLC. We were skeptical at first, because we had heard horror stories. I went to Abrazo Arrowhead on 09/29:25 after having severe abdominal and lower back pain. In was in and out in less than two hours. They did a CT scan and blood work and told me to follow up with my PCP to get an MRI for further investigations. A week later I find out that they billed the insurance $32633.00 and that I owe $21799.08 because the ER doctor determined that it my visit was not medically necessary even though I explained the severe pain I was in. I did not get any care whatsoever, I was not admitted, I sat in a chair while the doctor talked to me and was sent home. read more

Stfu 4 people walked up at different times and asked the same questions. One of the questions being are you pregnant? READ THE DAMM FILE. This is unreal We came for a tumor debulking in February IN FEBRUARY !!!!! She left with a hole in her stomach NOW SHES On a feeding tube and THEY sent her home with hospice! My wife delivered here and so we had to visit some 3 times overall. My wife's OB/GYC office had 2 options and we chose this after checking with people and majorly due to the proximity reason. Overall experience was not at all bad, however, nothing was extraordinary. While setting up the labor room they had an issue with some equipment in the first room so they had to abort after 1 hour and move us to the new labor room. Rooms are so legacy ones with decades-old equipment and even the AC thermostat that is a manual rotatory one. Not very impressed with the modernization of the rooms and the hospital overall as well. The postpartum room was fancy kind of but very small in size. The nurses and staff were nice overall during our 3 days of stay. Multiple changes happened in shifts and we never had a bad experience overall. I love their food menu though. Nice varieties and do provide included food for the accompanying partner as well. I would still recommend this hospital for maternity needs. read more

My mother came in with chest pain, was left in a room in the ER dept for several hours without a single nurse or doctor checking in on her unless she clicked the call button to get assistance to unhook from the monitor to use the bathroom. The staff did not make calls to any providers to be seen. The only time they gave a crap was when she got visibly upset asking for updates, or when a family member went to the ER to advocate for her. And mind you she is not senile, or disabled and shouldn't have needed someone to fight on her behalf for basic care. If you want anything other than the absolute worst care for your loved one DO NOT AT ALL COSTS GO TO THIS FACILITY. If I could apply negative stars i absolutely would, don't go here this place will more than likely kill you if you're in a life or death situation. read more

As a provider myself I felt the need to write an accurate review of my personal experience as a patient at Arrowhead Abrazo Hospital. The ER portion was absolutely horrendous. Saturday at 245 am. I'm the only person in the lobby, was the only one being triaged and there was one other patient actually being treated in the ER. Front desk was good, the triage was good, and the ER physician was inexperienced. She told me I had a virus and migraine after her eval and wanted to send me home. I advised her I was a PA and told her my thoughts and why it's important I have labs and cultures drawn. She didn't like that and said she needed clearance from her supervising physician. The SP came in, did his eval and instantly ordered labs, cultures, lumbar puncture, CT of head, and started IV antibiotics. Next, everyone is training and brand new. I understand we all need to learn, but I was a person's first IV, had a nurse who received her license 3 months ago (and was training a student), then the lumbar puncture was an even newer resident under my original ER physician. She had never done one, not sure she had seen one because she didn't know basics, even position of the bevel or how to inform me of risks of the procedure. I was so uneasy about this I contemplated being treated elsewhere. During it there were hiccups, extra csf was leaked. No one bandaged it, I sat in bed upright and developed a severe headache where I was dry heaving and sweating from pain. Used my call light without response, so I started yelling for help. A Dr came in and helped me lay the bed flat as I knew this was a post LP complication headache. This lasted for days and I couldn't sit up or walk due to the intensity of the pain when elevated. I would have been treated with IV antibiotics and discharged if it weren't for this complication. Due to the post-puncture headache from the LP, I had to be an inpatient for 5 days. Once admitted onto the floor, the experience drastically improved. Staff knew what they were doing, yes still training, but that's expected. Thankful I knew enough from my medical background to argue with the original physician to even get a workup in the ER. She would've sent me home and I would have continued to worsen and become septic without IV antibiotics and possibly be critically ill or even die. Overall, awful ER where I'd never go back to as I don't believe they have competent physicians. Maybe this was only because it was an overnight shift at 3am on a weekend, but I'd never risk it again. In my opinion, the hospital needs more trained and experienced physicians and limits how many staff are training at a time. Yet, the actual inpatient portion of the hospital was great with knowledgeable physicians and staff. read more
