Had jury duty--- which I think is bs. Bring a small business owner that doesn't get paid to be gone is crap. The security checking you thru at entry are very respectful and make entry easy. The gentleman at the jury waiting area was very kind. He handles situations in a very well manner as I witnessed a situation arise. He handled it with grace. I just spent two weeks at this courthouse for jury duty and can proudly say that I got to know this place well. It's got impeccable bathrooms, shiny floors, and well-furnished seats. It's a comfortable experience both through the hallways and in the courtrooms. Banning Courthouse has stairs, an elevator and a few ramps for a variety of visitors. A juror assembly room is also available where large groups of jurors gather before being called for jury selection. The juror assembly room has limited vending machines and a fridge for your convenience. The courtroom gallery seats are a little uncomfortable but everything else was fine. Security is a bit rude at times but once they get to know you they cool off and are a little more cordial. Note: If you're here for jury duty and need a slip each day you're here, go down to the juror assembly desk and the folks there will give you an attendance certification. read more

The interior architecture was really stunning. To see the giant state seal on the wall was inspiring. The three guards on duty had exceptional professional attitudes and meticulously wanded my toes nose fingers and more as the wands beeped in Morse Code. The window service civil servants were exceptional and made me feel safe, valid, and comfortable. Sometimes even hero's need heros. This courthouse is always clean and staff seems friendly when I have been here for jury duty. I don't fault this place for what they have to do, no one likes jury duty, and I've had it more than 4 times over the past years and have had no issues. The waiting room is comfortable, and climate is cool. Glad to see that they have added several TVs in the waiting area to keep people entertained if they do not have a mobile device. The staff was friendly, and the rest rooms were clean. Parking can fill up fast, so arrive early. There are several places to eat between jury call down the street, but you will have to drive or carpool to get to the better options that was is within walking distance. read more

It's Closed with no notice !!!!!!!!!! Today is Native American Day and apparently they r closed !!!! There is no sign on the door and even in the website and yelp and maps it says open but nope it's actually closed ! It seems Native American Day is a holiday that the Judicial Branch recognizes but unless u showed up to the court today of all days as dictated on your traffic ticket or court date there would be no way to know that ! My husband was told to be there today at 7:30am for his court date and even got a print out of the day *&/ time and he along with many other people that were also told to be there today but it's CLOSED!!!!! No notice not even a dam sign on the door ! I found out by doing a darn google search !!! It's not even on the Holiday calendar so how the heck were these people supposed to know ?!?!?! Why schedule people to come on a day that the court will be closed ! I can expect this from a restaurant or a mom and pop shop but from an actual court house ?!?! What a joke seriously. 100% BS they talk about your duty to serve and I don't mind when it is not a financial burden and this time it is. They don't give a rat ass about you as an individual. They claim they do however they make you wait all day. Do they put food on my table NO! Again 100% BS they should excuse those who absolutely need to work as to not burden them financially. Went to court. Surprisingly, it's clean... I mean immaculate inside the courthouse. The neighborhood....not so much. Appeared before the judge....she's fair, has a heart. Will listen to the plaintiff. You always have sympathy when someone tells you they have to go to court. Wasn't a great experience yet it wasn't bad. I have to return back to court in April. Other than the exhausting commute that every Californian must endure.....going before the judge wasn't as bad as everyone says. read more

They have a robot that makes you waste 5 minutes of your life and they are understaffed. The robot says "we are having a high call volume your call cannot be answered goodbye." This is a governmental building and organization I'm honestly so shocked how much America has become lazy and a joke. read more

Clean enough, but what bothered me the most was the lack of vending machines. If it was me, I'd at least make sure every area jurors hang out has at least one source of snack foods. So we aren't hangry all day. read more

In reference to the jury clerks, people shouldn't be spoken to as if we were bothering the clerks or interrupting their work, we are the reason for their jobs, their benefits and their retirement. Perhaps they have forgotten this and may need a reminder. I experienced and noticed that they were rude and condescending in dealing with the potential long line of jurors. People answering the jury duty notices are the representation of the community that are qualified and willing to serve on a jury. I have not had the opportunity to serve on a jury but if I had, my mind would still be bothered by the horrible customer service I received from the jury office instead of giving my full attention to the court case. I suggest employing someone suitable for the position, who can handle the amount of people and questions being asked, majority of the public have never served on a jury. Find another position for these employees that aren't in direct contact with the public. I did experienced great customer service from security and deputies. In my experience this kind of behavior leads to animosity and distrust in everyone involved. read more

Open at 7:30am and waited in the lobby until 9:30 am. Went in the courtroom and the honor was such a jerk. He was already in a mood because they don't have enough jury to start the trial. This honor didn't care if you had appointments or work or that work wouldn't pay for the entire trial. He only dismissed those who had trips coming up or basically those who have kids n work. He went on preaching it's ones civic duty and those who don't work have plenty of time. This overall experience makes one not want to serve. I understand the frustration of not having enough people to start the trial but potential jurors shouldn't be at fault. read more

Ample parking but some drivers are horrible when it comes to parking. I had to park in the last row because I want my car to be not dinged. Security was mediocre but I ignored their attitude. The clerk office staff was nice to me so I had no issues. read more

As far as courthouse is go, it's not that bad the process was fair and quick, and I have no issues with any of the court staff except, the security that checks you win all park in the handicap parking spots in front of the courthouse every single one of them, hopped out of the car runs inside and take all the handicap parking that should be for visitors. The parking here is a joke, so many people take up two spots. But I think what made me the maddest was the security guard who's in his early 20s get out of his car in the handicap spot knock on the car next to him who held another security guard and go in after their lunch. They shouldn't be taking all of the handicap spots they get here early enough that they can park in a regular spot and not walk that much further. Just because you have a handicap placard doesn't mean you need to use it. read more

I went for jury duty. Showed up on time at 9:30. The clerk explained that the judge may be tied up with a prior trial and if we are still there at 3:30 PM, the judge is likely to excuse all of us with our commitment being fulfilled for the year. Our group of roughly 100 sat there waiting and 3:30 came and nothing was said about going home. I saw the web site for Banning court and it supposedly closes at 4:00 PM. I'm thinking any minute we will go home. I was wrong, the judge decided he wanted to get everyone in his courtroom after all. At 3:50 PM the judge addresses his courtroom and says that he doesn't have time to hear any hardship excesses at this time. If any of us have to ask for an excusal, they would have to report here in the morning and advised us that the excuses have to be good and not for being merely an inconvenience. He asked for the people that will be prepared to serve, just come in at 1:30 PM 3 days later and avoid hardship process all together. What bugs me the most is the use of the word "inconvenience". I think waiting 7 hours is quite the inconvenience. Addressing the potential, jurors, 10 minutes before the court is closed, is very much an inconvenience. By the way, there is no drinking water, fountain in the jurors waiting room. No coffee and donuts. I feel the court was abusive, an inconvenience is a light way of putting it. read more

I agree with everything Blair, another Yelper, said. I have been to many other court houses, but this one is so utterly stupid the way they run their court rooms. I honestly have never seen anything like it!! I wasted my entire day there. From 7:30 am until 4:30 pm only to be sent home. I knew I would be sent home because I was a victim of a violent crime, and have been dismissed every time I have been called for Jury duty. I told the "Judge" this, and she refused to let me go, saying the attorneys have to talk to you first. So there I sat for several hours, sitting on a hard metal chair, I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy, only to be told I was dismissed. Shame on you Judge, what ever your name was, for putting a disabled person through this nightmare!!! read more

But if you work in the jury assembly room and feel the need to threaten the folks who willingly made the decision to show up and waste a day performing their civil service with some ambiguous disciplinary measures should they not return from lunch, it can reasonably be assumed that you lack the public relations skills for the job. I got a speeding ticket going over beaumont ave, and it turns into sanderson. Yes, the winding road through the hills. I got it September 2020. The police were sitting on the side of the road, and turned on his red and blue lights,and started to pull out before I even got passed where he was. He said I was doing 80 in a 65. Needless to say, there were 2 cars in the lanes ahead of me, one beside me, and 2 in the lanes behind me. I didn't look at my speedometer at that very moment, because I was going around a curve, but I know I was not going any faster than the cars in front of me, or behind me. When he turned his lights on, and started to pull out, I changed lanes to the slow lane, to get out of his way, as I was thinking he had gotten called out on something important. He passed a car in the fast lane, then got over behind me. When I stopped, he asked me if I thought he was after me, which I did not. Then as he handed me my ticket, he told me the courthouse was closed though, so he did not know how this was going to work. I went online trying to figure out when the court would be open, and just got confused instead. Tried to call and just kept hearing recordings about how the court was closed for most things right now, and a bunch of recorded jibberish not really explaining anything clearly, and could not get a hold of a live person. Then I received a letter telling me I had to appear within 20 days of the date of the letter, which was already expired by the time I received it. What a wonderful court system we have. read more

So they tell you to show up at 730 So I arrive at 730 Only to have you stand outside in line until everyone (approx 100 people show up for jury duty) checks in. You check in then you sit at the jury assembly room for another few hours or so. While they have donuts and coffee. Don't rush to get here at exactly 730. Like I'm all for being juror. But this sitting around all day is just a terrible. They know 100's of people of show up at 730. Be ready to go and get going by 8am. Make it simple read more

Sitting here waiting for jury duty and it's been an hour of nothing. Room full of people but they don't care to start. All just sitting in silence. Wasting everyone's time. They shoulda had us come at 9am instead of 7:30am. I could have been sitting in my warm home instead of a room ice cold filled with people coughing. The building is nice. Convicted of an outrageous speeding ticket appealing 2x with evidence, witnesses refuting the allegations: In our VW in the far right lane of I 10, preparing to exit (child was about to throw up) Deputy Burgess pulled over our car-not the red Corvette that blasted by us-the one he clocked. He did not question me or my husband (or worry about the sick child) just handed me the citation in the dark desert night-skipped SOP-it's a quota clearly. Then, in court, Deputy Burgess claims he is sure that we were the speeders-he saw it! But he didn't. I could not have driven that speed and been pulled over at the aforesaid location according to any calculation near that speed-The math was of no interest to Judge Cripe-the poor guy is just milling over police records to determine the predetermined outcome. My kids are afraid of law enforcement now because they have seen first hand the difference between what happened and what we were accused and convicted of. To my horror, Judge "Cripe" announced before this hearing, to a crowd of hapless defendants, " over 1/2 of you will lose today". So the proceedings are based on prejudices rather than presentations. Are we in Saudi Arabia? I am not a person of color but have been terrorized by false claims from law enforcement and cannot even imagine the abuses our African American citizens have suffered. Although this was a routine traffic citation , the same people could wreck lives if applied to more serious issues or accusations. Law Enforcement- Abolish quotas, do not reward bogus dUIs, pay law enforcement well, require all police-citizen interactions to be filmed- Judges: review them on yelp and hold them accountable, retire the apathetic, promote the righteous-Call them out so that others are spared injustice. read more
