I really enjoy coming here for a reset. Pay for 3 hours of use which is red light therapy, dry sauna, steam room, cold plunge pool a jacuzzi and a lounge area with a pool table. You have the option to book a massage for an additional fee. They also have a small kitchen that offers drinks like tea and water along with some small bites (no alcoholic beverages). There is no additional fee for use of lockers, they provide you with a key, 2 towels and a pair of flip flops. I highly recommend bringing toiletries as they do not have hair conditioner or blow dryers also bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated. read more

Here's the thing, I loved it here and had such a fun day relaxing. The steam room is amazing, the red light therapy was alright, the locker and changing area was clean, they offered sandals which was nice too. The cold plunge is also awesome as well as the jacuzzi. We had tea and played some chess which was also super fun, but here is the downside: The sauna is TOO HOT. It's absolutely miserable. They set the temp at 220+ degrees F, which is absurd. I walked in without shoes and burned my feet so bad I had blisters. It's impossible to walk in there barefoot. Google hot saunas and you will see that 220 is not normal or recommended. You can't last in there for more than a few minutes and you shouldn't. My metal necklace instantly started scorching my neck and my husband said his sandals got so hot they burned his feet. We were in there for 4 minutes max. I HIGHLY suggest the owners turn the sauna to a more appropriate 180-200. I would return only if the sauna was a usable option. I think at that temperature it's not even an option or fun. Other notes: the staff is so nice and friendly!! It's been quite a few years since I have been here and with the rising cost of another local banya I was skeptical about checking it back out after reading recent reviews. For those who don't know this place was remodeled semi recently and is now pretty great. It is much cheaper than the other banya, you can book online for a 3 hour entry. Street parking out front is free. They provide towels, a locker and flip flops, but you can also bring your own sandals. They now have an infared light room, which was a pleasant addition. The steam room also seems different from my memory. The rest was similar, but all in good condition. I appreciate that this cold plunge has steps for those like me who are never going to go all the way. Here I can go a little deeper and feel like I am getting more out of the experience. The hot tub is large enough for a group of people and with timed entry nothing felt too crowded. The sauna is very hot, do remember to wear shoes in there or you will be sorry. Another thing I appreciate about this banya is the restaurant. I almost always enjoy some refreshing kvass which goes perfect with the experience, but this time we decided to have food as well. I really loved my borscht and my partner tried some herring and onions. There were a lot of things on the menu I wanted to try and was happy to learn that you can come in to eat or get food to go without having to pay the price of banya admission. You can also bring your beverage with you to the banya area so you can have sips whenever and not feel pressured to have to drink more than you want at a time. There is also a room with a pool table and chess/checker table. You can lounge in here and take a break if needed. My only complaint is that my locker lock was frustrating, but its a small thing. I had an unpleasant experience with the staff yesterday. I accidentally booked the wrong time without noticing it- 12pm instead of 130pm. I asked if they could simply move my reservation since I was absolutely sure my time was at 1:30 and arrived accordingly. At the front desk I was told that it wasn't possible because they were "busy," but that I could pay an extra $10 for each additional hour. Honestly, I was very upset and disappointed, especially when I saw that there were maybe ten people inside at most. I came alone, not with a big group, and it wouldn't have been a problem for them to adjust my time, but they refused. On top of that, the guy at the reception spoke in a very snarky and unfriendly way. Instead of relaxation, I ended up feeling irritated and with a headache. My friends and I used to enjoy coming here, but now we're thinking of finding a more friendly place. read more

On a whim, I dropped in and ate at the restaurant and was really impressed with the delicious food. I wish I could remember what it was called but absolutely everything was outstanding and they make a kombucha type of drink there that's very healthy and delicious. My husband and I are newer to the area, and we have slowly been exploring and finding new places to enjoy. A few months ago, I suggested we try out Banya in Everett. We were instantly HOOKED. My husband is a big fan of the sauna and cold plunge, and I love the steam room. Everything is clean and very comfortable. The locker rooms are very clean, and the soaps and lotions provided are a very sweet touch. It took me a bit to figure this out, but they also provide plastic bags for all your wet clothing. The food is DELICIOUS, and we always get a big pit of rooibos tea with ginger and orange slices added in. The early bird price of $30/3 hours on Saturdays is a steal of a deal, and our favorite time to go, but even the evening prices of $50/3 hours is a good deal. The staff have always been wonderful and so kind to us. But also, Banya has an amazing group of regulars who have gone out of their way to be kind and inviting to us, and have taught us a lot about the traditional methods of Banya. For us, finding a "third place" has been difficult, but we love that Banya has started to feel like a third place. It speaks a lot about a place that they have such a large group of regulars who are also so kind and welcoming. We try to go to Banya at least a few times per month, and we plan on continuing to come back many times in the future. read more

Oh my gosh are the staff friendly! They showed us around and answered all our questions and introduced us to people. They made us feel like family. The Russian sauna is REALLY really hot. Probably normal for Russians, but for someone who goes to the sauna at the gym all the time, this was 100% hotter. Most people wear hats in the sauna. We didn't know about this so we didn't bring a hat. I think they dip them in cold water and they say it helps them to stay in the sauna longer... that is if I understood them correctly. A bit of a language barrier. The steam room was really hot too, again much hotter than any gym steam room I've been to. Although they don't call it a steam room, their term is "Wet Sauna". The cold pool was suppose to be 33 degrees and extremely cold, we went in a bit, but were too chicken to take the plunge. Maybe if there hadn't been an audience we would have tried. The hot tub was really hot and quiet enjoyable. We also had a "venik massage" which is a massage that a Russian man gives you with leaves in the sauna. It's suppose to detoxify you and the stuff from the leaves is suppose to go into your pours. At least I think... Again, the language barrier. Maybe I will have to learn Russian. The changing rooms were really small and I wish there were more room to change/put your stuff. But they do have a free tanning bed in case you want to use it. They also have Q-tips, free locker for your stuff, and a hair dryer. We tried the Kavas, which is a Russian drink and that was cool too. There is a "dry room" to hang out in, in case you just want to chill for a bit. Play some pool, watch Russian videos, eat Russian food, hang out in comfy chairs and relax. read more

We love to come to Downtown Banya! We come from Portland, OR for over two years now usually 4-5 times per year. Sauna is very clean. People that work there are super nice. We usually stay there from 12 PM to 6 PM on Saturdays. We always have 8-10 friends with us so we let Downtown Banya staff know when we are coming ahead of time. We reserve a room and have a lunch there. The Russian food that they serve is amazing!!! Always fresh and super tasty. One of the ladies that work there, Olga, is so nice. She treats us with a smile and kindness. My friends that I take to Downtown Banya for the first time always want to come back for more! I wish we would have something like that in Portland. The girl working recommended a couple things and even did a "split-order" so I could try two dishes I wanted without getting too much food (it was still a lot of food!). Sometimes it is hard to find assistance, but there is a certain authenticity about this place that makes up for a lot. They just lowered the price from $35 to $30 a session. FYI: I caught a major nasty cold from the sick esthetician who did my scrub :(, ugh. She had initially cancelled on me because she was sick and rescheduled a few days later. During my scrub, she coughed on me a few times accidently and I prayed that I wouldn't catch what she had. Next thing you know, BOOM! eh eh, sore throat and whole bunch of mess. In general, not impressive at all and its because I think of my experience at the Olympus Spa which offers the exact opposite environment as the DT Banya (for women only, sorry). I was creeped out by the entire facility: YMCA like entrance, stinky recreational area (smelled like watered mildew), dark spa/sauna area with dried leaves in the tubs and floors, and tiny bathroom (two showers) that the opposite sex has access to by just opening the door. If you want a HOT sauna, this place is for you. It was too hot for me and I had never been into one like this and was not provided tips or information on how to tolerate the heat. I soaked for a few minutes in the hot tub but just wanted to get to my scrub, which was really nice but I just couldn't 100% relax being in the banya and knowing my esthetician was sick. I would not recommend this place and definitely go back to the Olympus Spa. I came here through a Groupon and even with the discount, not worth it. I can't even imagine spending more money to come here. read more

We first visited Downtown Banya on Valentine's Day 2013, we were using a groupon type deal and were instantly hooked on the experience! We were given a brief tour of the facilities, towels, robe and set free to explore. There are few places that you and a partner of the opposite sex can experience together but this is one! It is very casual and not the typical spa - no candles, relaxing music, fresh flowers... it is traditional and comfortable and provides what is advertised. I should set expectations that on our visits there is usually Russian music videos blaring and loud discussions between the gentlemen patrons. It's a very social atmosphere, which I love. The music is fun but caught us a little off guard on our first visit. You can go between their spa area and lounge areas freely. We usually go between the hot tub and dry and wet saunas and as of our last visit enjoyed dinner off their bistro menu. Yum! I added a few pics of what we enjoyed but I'm sorry that I don't have the items names. Great soup, cabbaged wrapped rice and a fried meat pie. We shared and enjoyed everything :) For $30 a day pass is a great deal! If still active Yelp had a check in offer for $10 off. Use it, try it with some friends or your partner. Alright here is an in depth honest review. Pre-cursor, I do not speak Russian. Before my friend and I arrived we thought it was $35 for the day, but only ended up being $30. We arrived at 7:20pm. We brought our swimsuits, flip flops, locker lock, and change of clothes, all things you need. The lady at the front showed us down stairs where we were taken to the women's locker room. The downstairs is broken up into 2 rooms, the spa and the eating area. In the spa the back wall is lined with benches and quite a few Russian men were sitting on it. I got all nervous, like we were about to be on display. I asked my friend if she wanted to go and she said "nope! It's an adventure!" We changed, put on our shoes, rinsed off, and headed out. Side note, they do have sandals for free if you forget yours. They also provide a towel. So we go into the steam room first. Instantly sweaty and pores opened, we lasted 5 minutes. It's hot! Then we headed into the dry sauna. The room had 5 Russians, 3 men and 2 women, who had their wool hats on and were using the venik (spelling?) branches to hit each other. I thought it was very interesting. Now after 10 minutes you are supposed to jump in the cold pool, sit on the bench for a bit, and then go back into the dry sauna. We ended up being on the same rotation as the 5 and I started asking questions. They were all so friendly and we all joked around. Another bigger group of 7 young Russian men came in and still didn't feel crowded. Honestly I felt so refreshed, pores so opened, and warm! This winter has been tough and we just wanted to warm up, to which the Russians replied "this is the place!". The place was nice and clean, only negative was the water fountain was a little warm and had some stuff growing in it... maybe leftover leaves? We left at 9:30 and we're able to do 5 rounds of hot and cold. I wish the price was around the $20 range, but all and all we enjoyed ourselves! read more

Downtown Banya... oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Inflexibility. I treked up from Seattle on a Friday night planning my day around the possibility of having a good soak at night after a long week. Showing up with a Groupon without a reservation but not being able to use it was pretty painful. The facilities look nice but just the sheer inflexibility of the management to accommodate one person makes me not want to go back and spend any money there at all. Yes, I neglected to make a reservation, but no I am not going to spend $30 for a day pass when I already have one in my pocket that expires tomorrow. The poor girl at the front desk empathized with me but seemed scared of the possibility of losing her job for letting me slide. Poor management. Will not return. What a shame! read more

I'm not sure I was at the same place as the other reviewers...the spa facility itself was okay but everything else was really pretty terrible. There were actually crunchy old leaves in all of the different rooms of the spa....in the dry sauna, the wet sauna, the cold pool and the hot tub. Seriously. When we arrived, we were shown around the facility, I was very surprised by the LOUD RUSSIAN TECHNO blasting through the TVs. I asked the hostess if we could change the channel, maybe to something more laid back. She actually switched the channel from one club music channel to another. Call me crazy, but when I go to a spa, I'm not interested in feeling like someone with glow sticks might jump out at any moment. I read reviews of the "bistro" at the spa and so counted on having lunch there and enjoying some traditional Russian cuisine. When we tried to order FROM THE MENU, we were told that they didn't have the first 4 things we chose. Literally, half of the menu items were scratched off with a Sharpie and the other half "they didn't have." I asked what sort of salads were available and was told the Fresh Vegetable Salad was my only option. I chose to order the fresh vegetable dish and was given a pile of cucumbers, white onion and red peppers with oil. The tomatoes were green, the peppers were mushy and the onions were not meant to be eaten raw. I literally spit out the second bite I tried and didn't eat anything else.... I'm pretty sure the front counter girl was also working the "kitchen" and she had no idea what was expected and instead of saying the restaurant wasn't open, she ruined my idea of Russian food and spas. A friend and I randomly stopped in for the first time last night (about 8:45) to try their pelmeni since we couldn't get to Seattle anytime soon. We were a little confused when we first entered as no one except a few customers who were chatting were at the desk. They told us to just go downstairs. We were met by a really nice girl who sat us. Another girl came shortly after to ask if we had any questions and what we would like to order. We ordered an order of half sour pickles and two orders of beef pelmeni. While we were waiting, we started getting slightly uncomfortable just because there was a huge group of men just in their swimsuits flooding the bistro area but we understood that's just what they did there. We just got a weird vibe from it since it was pretty dark downstairs. Our food came and oh wow was it good! The pelmeni seemed really fresh and had an amazing flavor! The half sour pickles were something neither of us had ever heard of or tried before and we loved them too. Overall we had a pretty great experience here and will definitely return. Just probably return a little earlier in the day when hopefully the lights are turned up a bit. *I only took one star off for the slightly weird vibe of the dark room full of half naked men haha* read more

False advertizing. Don't bother to go to this spa, it seems like it is in the process of closing down. I went here with a group of friends hoping for a fun evening out. Unfortunately, almost everything at the spa was lacking and/or not functioning. I agree with the other reviewers who gave low ratings: this place it not worth it. The hot tub wasn't working, and the cold plunge had weird scum floating on it, so the only thing to do was to go in the dry or wet sauna. The whole place had a strange vibe like it had seen better days. There was visible dirt and mold in the tiles and drains, and the carpets in the dry rooms smelled like wet dog. The music videos do not lend a relaxing tone to the spa, and instead are fairly annoying. Apart from cheap body soap and q-tips, there is nothing like is advertized on the website like shampoo, etc. The biggest disappointment was the "bistro," which does not really seem to exist. No kitchen in sight, and only a few tables in the dry room. The menu was extensive, and we were excited to order several dishes until we found out that they were only serving "cold fish and beer." That would be fine, but don't advertize that you are serving other things if you are not. The website and everything about this place is deceptive. read more

What a great night! I've always wanted to try Everett's, Downtown Banya and I was pleasantly surprised when my wife and I tried it out last Friday night. The hostess gave us a quick tour of the facility and we were ready to go. We decided to hit the restaurant first, trying to sample as much as we could possibly handle before going into the spa. The restaurant manager was very knowledgeable and friendly and educated us on traditional Russian food and customs. When we had eaten all the borscht we could handle and tried every type of dumpling they offered, we walked to our respective changing rooms and put on our sandals and bathing suits. The facility has one of the best dry saunas around and several patrons had traveled from Burien, Bellingham, and Tacoma to take part. One avid banya aficionado told me, "You never find another sauna this size outside a city the size of Chicago or New York." In true banya form the attendees beat each other with oak leaf bundles while wearing their traditional wool caps. All of the occupants were very friendly and educated me on the history of banya and the proper way to travel from one station (sauna, cold pool, hot tub) to the next. After raising my body temperature to its limits, I crept outside and plunged myself in water that might as well have been snow melt. I think the restaurant patrons may have been concerned when they heard a high pitched shriek of a teenage girl, but that was just me. My wife and I had a great time and will definitely return. If you decide to go, just be willing to have an open mind, don't be afraid to ask questions and really, just be respectful of a different culture and tradition. We can't wait to go back. read more

Downtown Banya is a very clean and comfortable place to relax. It's the only Russian Banya I've been to and I feel no need to try any others. I'm not a fan of the Russian music videos playing the entire time; sometimes I feel something more relaxing on the TV would be more suitable for such a place, however, this may be what the Russians whom go there prefer, and I am one of the VERY few that is not Russian that frequents there. The "Dry Room" is a great place to hang out afterwards to grab food, watch more Russian music videos ;-) or to shoot some pool. If you've never been to a Russian Banya, learn about what it is on the web, and if you are a 1st-timer, they will show you the ropes of what you are to do there. I am so shocked that I haven't reviewed this yet! I've been going to the banya every few months for a couple of years now. I enjoy going to the Korea spa also (Bella Luna in Lynnwood) but this just has a different vibe. Korean spas are only unisex in dry areas and tend to be a lot more quiet. Russian banyas are more of family affair. People come with multiple generations; friends and neighbors come and chat. It's just a nice way to relax and be social. I'm allergic to most everything on the menu so I can't comment on the food but I have heard it's really good. I finally got myself a sauna hat so now I'm ready to go for my next visit. I like this banya/sauna place. It's gets really hot in dry sauna, witch I like. Cold plunge is really cold. There is pool table witch you can play if you want to take a break from sweating. TV,s around the place playing Russian music videos. Food here is overpriced and small portions. If you want to try Russian food, go ahead and see what it's like if you never eaten it before. You get slippers and towels with your admission that you can use. The best drink in this place is called "Kvas" Get a pitcher of it and you'll see what I am talking about. This is the best sauna in Seattle area. The Russian Banya is really hot, almost too much, haven't had sauna this hot since my visit to Ukraine in 2008. If you want to experience real Russian banya this is the place to go. I came on Saturday and there was almost nobody there, which is nice. They must be reading reviews as they turned down Russian music videos to the level that I wish was a little louder as you almost cannot hear it sitting at the closest location possible. Bought a venik there for $25+tax, it was a nice large and heavy one, excellent quality. There is also a wet sauna there and that one had a lower temperature, much softer heat. Overall fairly clean and well designed place, but the wood benches in the Russian Sauna need to be rebuilt, especially the lowest step. I had a great time and will be back. read more

I used to love this place, I've probably taken 20 different people here over the last 3-4 years. Sadly to say it has gone downhill. The staff i was accustomed to is gone, and the new staff is brash and irritable. One of my keys broke off in the lock, the thing was so soft i barely did anything and it snapped. I went to the desk to tell them, to my surprise I was reprimanded and told i would need to pay a $25 fee. The guy even tried to intimidate me, what a joke. Believe it or not I actually went back a few months after that, hoping it was just that once. Another new face at the desk, telling me i could not split my groupon anymore. Writing some weird code on my cards. Good luck with that they are in the garbage. To top off my last trip when I went to order food, i kindly went to the lady and asked "may i order some food"... she was staring down into some papers and didn't even look up. After some awkward silence she finally gazed up with a nasty scowl and said, "Well what do you want."
