I didn't have high expectations going in. The menu is limited and the prices are a bit higher than what I typically expect. But this place surprised me! There aren't many spots in Tulsa where you can get soup dumplings. I can only name one other. I think I prefer the soup dumplings here. Each dumpling was packed with meat and I personally enjoyed the thicker wrapper. For the crab & pork soup dumplings, add a little bit of vinegar to it! It really brings out the flavor. We visited on a Sunday evening and were seated right away. The restaurant has a sleek, modern interior & the service was great. One thing to note: the lychee iced tea leans more toward the tea side and isn't very sweet. If you're looking for something sweeter, I'd recommend the pineapple passion fruit iced tea instead. We also ordered the General Tso's chicken, which came with rice, along with several other dishes to share among the three of us. The chicken entree was very generous and we left feeling very full. The food was good, but unfortunately, the service left quite a bit to be desired. A friend and I stopped in for lunch, and the restaurant was nearly empty--only two small parties were dining. Despite that, we felt rushed and, quite frankly, unwelcome. Our server disappeared after taking our order, to the point that I eventually had to grab the vinegar and chili jars from another table myself. The overall energy was... noticeably less than hospitable. The thing is, I'm not thrilled to pay and tip for additional stress and hostility in my day. Dining out should be enjoyable, and while I understand that everyone has an off day, the experience left enough of an impression that I won't be returning. Unfortunately, I just doordashed this food to my house as my birthday lunch. I was craving dumplings & was hoping these would be great. I was severely disappointed. As you can see, the dumplings are extremely small from the pictures I took. They look nothing like the photos that are listed from the company. Also, I'm glad that I took these photos, because if you zoom in on the bland, tan dumplings you can see a black hair from one of the workers sitting on top. When I received the DoorDash photo from the delivery driver, the coke was outside of my bag. The bag was not sealed by the restaurant at all, so my coke was inside of my bag when I received it, and everything was oily? Including the bag itself & handles. I am horrified by this entire experience. I am all for supporting new businesses, but this actually ruined my birthday (& I paid almost $40). read more

*Soft Opening* The menu on their Instagram page & the one on location were slightly different. A couple of items were added, the Pan Fried Bao (something I'm looking forward to trying in the near future) was one of them. The menu items were also limited due to being a soft opening (we tried to order a couple of things & they weren't available at the time). If you're vegan + vegetarian, the selections are slim (as for now). I went with the orange chicken that comes with sticky rice. The plate is slightly towered with orange chicken accompanied by quarters of oranges. Usually it might be a wedge or a slice for the looks, the oranges were part of the dish & I enjoyed that. I loved the tempura texture, a light crispy crunch. The glaze on the chicken was thicker than I'm used to (not in a bad way), the sweetness was subtle. The waiter was nice, the wait on the food didn't take long at all. My partner ordered the Bao Fried Rice due to her being vegetarian. After being told there's no meat in the rice, which there wasn't, the dish might've been cooked + prepped not in a vegetarian manner. I do hope they update the menu with more vegan + vegetarian options. The place itself is fitting for dates & for groups. As you walk in, you can sit on the left or right side of the establishment. The left side seemed more dim + shaded while the right side had more sunlight beaming in. The fave was the fried rice. The hostess was friendly and attentive but I felt the waitress wasnt quite vibing with us. Before we even sat fully down we're already being asked if we were ready to order, me thinking can I look at the menu first. Then when it came time to get the bill she was busy somewhere else. This place is AMAZING!! Hands down one of the best Asian restaurants I've been to. There isn't a ton of seating, but we had no problem finding a table during lunch. I highly recommend the beef pan-fried dumplings--they were incredible! The soup dumplings were the best I've ever had. My only complaint is that I wish they came with more because they're so good! I'd definitely order two servings next time. The General Tso's chicken was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of spice, and the chicken pieces were actually large and juicy. The green beans were delicious, and the cream cheese wontons were perfectly crispy. Don't skip the pineapple passion fruit iced tea! It has real chunks of pineapple in it and is incredibly refreshing. The restaurant only had two servers, and they were clearly doing their best to keep up with the lunch crowd. While service was a little slower because of that, it didn't take away from the experience at all. The food was absolutely worth the wait, and I'll definitely be back! read more

James LOVES his dumplings! When I'm in SF, kingdom of dumplings is one of my favorite spots amongst the many choices there. Perusing FB, I noticed a new place was doing its soft opening this week, a place called Bao Soup Dumplings. First off it's nice that a place like this is open in this part of town. They are in the retail area of the NOMA building. Walking in it has a sleek designer feel. Got seated quickly and my server was quick to take my order and get my drink. I ended up getting the pan fried pork dumplings, an order of the Bao fried rice and a cucumber salad. Everything is freshly made (they only make so much of each dumpling daily, so keep that in mind when ordering) and everything tasted on point. There are non-dumpling items on the menu, and the next time in I am definitely trying the chocolate dumplings. Had the house lemon tea and it was also most excellent. Parking can be had in the building. Get there soon and don't be surprised if this place gets constantly busy. read more

The atmosphere was weird- one long table in the middle and only a few 4 tops so customers were seated facing a wall at a counter. The restaurant is brand new and very clean but there was a lot of unnecessary clutter stacked around. The service was weird- we ordered soup dumplings for a starter and one main course each. The soup dumplings did not come out until after my daughter's meal came out so not exactly a starter. And not hot at that point either. My meal came out some time later and the server just set my plate down on the opposite edge of the table, not in front of me, not even in reach. I had General Tso's chicken which was very good. My daughter's entrée was a ground chicken dish with too much sauce and too much salt. The servers were friendly and polite. read more

Service was a bit slow but being a new restaurant it's to be expected. Definitely more staff is needed. Food was really good and would definitely come back. Some good food items: the garlic green beans, spring rolls, chicken soup dumplings, and orange chicken. Some negatives ... cucumber salad was ok but needed more flavor. The chili oil had a bitter taste, and I wish there was vinegar/soy sauces for the dumplings. They did sell out of the beef soup dumplings and the shrimp ones which was a major fail, but waiter made up with an off the menu dessert because they also were out of the chocolate dessert dumplings. I was comparing to Din Tai Fung which has a high bar but nonetheless it was a good experience. read more

Incredible ambiance. It has a corners store feel so it's not overwhelming. The prices are fair and the food itself is great; there's definitely a novelty to sipping soup from a dumpling. I had the pork and chicken soup dumplings for to-go and they tasted fantastic. Service and accommodation were superb, definitely under great management by Jon. The food here was so good,in particular the namesake soup dumplings. Melt in your mouth good. Seemed like very fresh ingredients. I also had the Bao fried rice, which was also delicious. À very well curated mix of flavors. The table next to us had the pineapple fried rice, which actually comes in half à pineapple. It looked like something I'd like to try next. The only downside to our visit was the very slow service. I'm still giving 4 stars because they did just open recently, and I hope on my next visit I can revise it to 5 stars. read more

The lady in the kitchen window was yelling at the other staff telling them "they better shut their mouth" the management just watched and didn't step in. Bao Soup Dumpling is on to something - they're a full service restaurant, made fresh from scratch, with a modern Asian decor and affordable. This is a great place for a couple, a family or a large group. Surrounded by windows, you get a nice view of Tulsa's Route 66 and they're just down the street from the University of Tulsa. On top of yummy dumplings, they have Chinese dishes like sweet and sour chicken (so good!), General Tso's chicken, etc. They also offer mango milk tea, lychee green tea, etc. They've landed on a sweet spot. I think we'll visit frequently. read more

It was amazing when entering. Staff extremely nice. We ordered different items. The orange chicken is to for. Large chunks is chocker neat, lightly breaded and fried and coated in an lame duce with real orange pieces. The postings were large enough to fill you, even when sharing. read more
