Port and crab meat soup noodle
    Haitong W.

This Vietnamese Bistro offers over 20 types of soup noodle with a variety of soup base. This is quite impressive. Pho is mostly known and acknowledged internationally, but if you travel in Vietnam from south to north, you will be surprise of the variety and creativity in soup noodles. Tried pork and crab meat noodle which comes in a sour and sweet soup base with lemon grass and bean sprouts served in the side. Well done!

Saw this while walking by and decided to try it! It is very tiny inside but if you can get a seat, your stomach will be pleased! Their rare steak and brisket pho was delicious and had a great soup base flavor! The lemongrass chicken banh mi sandwich was delicious and the bread was very soft and buttery. I also liked their condensed milk iced coffee. Service isn't the friendliest but they get the job done. I def recommend their food!

Their banh mi is delicious! I especially like their lemon grass spicy beef which is made fresh and not too spicy! Something about this little spot is different from other banh mi I've had before. The seating is limited but sitting on a stool by the window and people watch is what I like to do when solo. The service is a bit slow as it seems to be a family run business but it's definitely worth the wait.

Vegetarian pho with spicy peanut sate broth (vegan)

I've come here a bunch of times over the years, but for some reason never penned a review. Also, in past visits, they had been out of their spicy peanut sate broth, so I didn't get to try it until now. Now that I have, I'd say that Baoguette has among the very best vegetarian pho options with spicy peanut pho broth. Their base vegetarian pho ($15.50) can be upgraded to a spicy peanut sate broth ($2.50), which makes it a fairly expensive bowl of pho, but it's also among the best. My soup came out in about 10 minutes. The portion is very large, coming with all sorts of veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, carrot, celery, and some white onion), fried soft tofu, nicely cooked thin rice noodles, and the usual garnishes. The broth is similar to Pho Goodness' sate pho (which is also among the best in town), with a deeply rich peanuty character, ample spiciness, and perhaps a touch less sweetness. Wonderful depth and complexity. Service is fine -- efficient and competent. Simply put, top-notch veggie sate peanut pho. Highly recommended.

One line review: Very good. We've been to the place many times now, as it is in our neighborhood, walking distance. We ordered many items, including: - Grilled beef baoguette - Pho Tai nam - Papaya salad shrimp + pork chop All were good. But our standard order has become two of the grilled pork over vermicelli (with one subbing additional salad in place of the noodles). Delicious and a generous portion. Pricing is reasonable. This is a good value, and we partake periodically. The service ranges from adequate to very good. Parking is available on the street at meters, but we typically find parking for free in the neighborhood on the next street over. Bottom line: This has become a regular spot for us. That's a high compliment.

    Lemon grass grilled chicken!

Always tasty! Today the lemon grass grilled chicken in rice noodle was perfect. Clear broth with a slight brightness partnered with large tender pieces of lemon grilled chicken hot the spot. Try to time your visit for after the lunch rush, so you can enjoy the soup.

I drive by this restaurant on the daily on 41st, and there's always a decent crowd inside. Once I tried it, I realized why. They're Banh Mi is the best one I've eaten in town. With flavourful meat and fresh bread, the taste just bursts into your mouth. They have plenty of options of different banh mi's, but the house special and lemon grass chicken are my favourites. The Bun Bo Hue was great as well- lots of onions and meat. And when I say lots of meat, I mean LOTS of meat. Toppings were more than I expected, and the soup was also pretty good, with quite a bit of a kick to it. The lemon grass chicken was a hit try, but I think the pork would be a better choice for the next time I come. Overall, I am adding this place on my list of favourite pho places. Excited to come again and try more on their menu!

Still sitting here eating as I'm writing. Pretty disappointed for my first time here. The service is so slow which I think is unacceptable. My friend and I arrived first and were waiting for our third friend so they didn't immediately come take our order which is okay. However after our friend arrived, we sat for another 8-10mins before we asked them to come take our order. After that, our food took 30mins to arrive. The restaurant is not even busy at this moment. Needless to say, not impressed. I ordered the beef wrapped in betel leaves. Most restaurants with this dish give you full beef rolls. Here, they cut it in half so I feel like you're not getting your worth for the money. Just a heads up in regards to this particular dish. The flavour was decent so it's not bad. All in all, sub par experience.

The Chicken Curry here is the best! The Pho is very good as are the spring rolls and bahn mi. Sometimes you do have to wait a little while but I've always found the servers friendly and I don't mind waiting for good food. Nice addition to Kerrisdale.

    House Special Pho

Passed by this Banh Mi / Pho places many times and finally giving it a try! Overall conclusion: Pho was nothing special, Ordered : #19 Large : the House Special, the broth was just ok a bit on the sweet side and lack the beef flavour that we all come to expect from Pho. I had to say they didn't skim on the beef though. 3/5 #28 : Seafood and minced Pork Rice Noodles (soup on the side), sorry totally not what I had expected, the noodles came out in a clump and cannot be separated, I did add a bit of soup to loosen it but still way too starchy to eat, it's too bad, I was actually looking forward to it! Other places serve this dry toss noodles really well and the noodles are rinsed well to get rid of the extra starch in the noodles, hope they will improve!! 1/5 Spring Rolls with Crab & Pork : under done and not crispy at all the filling was just barely cooked, again too bad! This is actually featured as a special item !!This is one of my favourite Vietnamese items!! It's really amazing sometimes how lack of competition can result even in a city where Pho shops are more then burger joints that it's because of this particular neighbourhood this is the only one and they kind of take it for granted for the food quality they serve.

There are some small tables for two along with high tables. I ordered the 'hot' sandwich, chicken parm. I was expecting crispy chicken parm with yummy cheese and rich tomatoe sauce. Let's be honest, the star of this show is the bread! The baguette was warm, soft and so delicious. However, that's where the excitement stopped for me. The chicken with breading was soggy and the pesto and mozzarella was such a small amount, it felt like a soggy chicken sandwich with lots of bread. If they put more pesto dressing, more mozzarella cheese and more tomatoe sauce, I could have looked past the soggy chicken. All in all, I'm glad it tried it, the bread is amazing, and I'll come back to try a 'cold' sandwich to see if the other options are better!

The best part of the sandwich was the bread, they sourced it par baked from a bakery and finished it in store. it was amazing. For some reason (I expect cost) they stopped doing that and now get the bread from another of their locations. I would agree with some other reviews here, Mangia's is a bit expensive, but I and my friends were willing to pay for quality. The new bread they use is dry, tough and sub par, I tried to get used to it twice, but will not be going back. This review could have been one star but for the fact that the staff are amazing.

We walked over after getting off the Granville Island ferry at the Aquatic Centre stop. There wasn't a line, and our sandwiches came out quickly after ordering. - Reuben Sandwich -- tender meat, just the right amount of tang from the sauerkraut and cured meats, finished with their house-made mustard and a crunchy pickle on the side. - Lemon Rosemary Chicken (no cheese) -- light yet filling; the greens added freshness, avocado gave it the perfect moistness, and the light jalapeño kick tied it all together. - Garlic Bread -- buttery, garlicky, and crisp; the texture fell perfectly between a Vietnamese baguette and a ciabatta roll -- ideal snack for the walk.
