This visit almost cost me more than just time time it took from my day. I came in Tuesday afternoon with flu symptoms and tested negative for covid for 3 days in a row before coming in. Symptoms: 3 day fever between 100 and 101, body aches, shortness of breath, terrible cough and wheezing. The nurse takes me back to swab my nose for Covid and the Flu. Barely went past the nostril opening and then stuck the swab back in the wrapper. When I got to my room, DR. Prokopetz came in and looked in my ears, down my throat and then "listened to my lungs" Through my shirt and hoodie. He said it sounded fine. I asked if I should take off my hoodie, nope. Comes back in and tells me I have a cold and prescribes me something to ease my cough. I saw him for a total of 2 minutes. No additional questions, nothing. The next morning I call my Primary Care doc and explain everything. They recommended I go to MD Now and get a chest X-ray. Best thing I ever did. Within minutes of checking my vitals, hearing my symptoms and properly listening to my lungs, they immediately ordered a chest x-ray, gave me a steroid shot and a mask to breath in something to relax the inflammation in my esophagus. X-rays came back...Extensive Pneumonia in my left lung.... I was prescribed oral steroids, antibiotics and prescription cough syrup and sent home with proper instructions on how to care for myself while healing and materials needed to help. They then called me for two days afterwards to check in on me. The careless work by Dr. Alberto Victor Prokopetz at Baptist was inexcusable. I could've suffered respiratory failure, sepsis and lung abscess which can have fatal consequences. I am never going back there again. read more

Almost two months ago, I got into a devastating car accident. While I didn't experience pain right away, I did feel pain a few days after. When my usual doctor couldn't take me in given that this was a claim with my insurance, I went to the nearest urgent care center near my job and this place was it. I showed up around two in the afternoon, filled out paperwork, and was attended relatively quickly. The paperwork was straightforward and the receptionist was quite informative. Apparently this urgent care center has another side for primary care and I incorrectly walked there originally. This was corrected easily, however. The section that is for urgent care is ample, and well, there are TVs and magazines all around. Waiting isn't an issue at all. When I was attended, I think it was half an hour later after I came in - super speedy! The original nurse who attended me was a Hispanic male and he made me feel at ease. He weighed me, took my height and vitals, and was just overall a caring man with an awesome bedside manner. I remember him being from Hialeah and that's about it; I really wish I had gotten his name. Eventually I did an x-ray for the back pain that brought me in. I don't think it was even an hour late that I got my results, and well, simply put: muscle spasms. A female doctor came in, spoke to me, prescribed and gave me drugs right then and there, and well, then I was discharged and given paperwork with indications from a nurse. I also really wish I had gotten this nurse's name. She was so ridiculously sweet! She was a redhead in her 60s, but boy, seeing her and her spirit, she must be at least fifteen to twenty years younger. Overall, my experience was beyond fabulous and I recommend this urgent care center hands down. Then again, I've never had issues with any Baptist center. One thing to note about this particular one though: they have a parking garage, and for your sake, I do hope you get your ticket validated. Saves money! It's free for Baptist patients! read more

Unfortunately, after waiting in line for almost 30 minutes for COVID-19 testing, we were approched to be told that they were closed. Staff was unprofessional, lacked communication, understanding, care, and empathy. I do not recommend this location. read more

Waiting since 2:50 pm to be tested for Covid, it is now 5:45 pm and they let go in a lady that just registered. When I asked why she went in front of me (I was next), Mike said it was based on priority. They should have mentioned that Priority step since the beginning. read more

After feeling excruciating pain in my leg over a couple of days, I decided to bite the bullet and go to this urgent care. My friend had just gone in the night before with her husband and raved about how fast it was. Since they are open until 11 pm I figured it would be better to just deal with it in the evening rather than wasting precious work hours during the day. I knew I was in for another night of restless sleep so no sense trying to rough it out when I could hopefully get some stronger meds. I was told they also can fill prescriptions onsite so at that point I was sold! Finally, I liked the fact that I would see a real doctor and not a physicians assistant. I called around 7 pm and they said the wait was about 1.5 hours and said that things start to slow down as the night goes on, so I held out until 8:30. They explained the parking perfectly over the phone and there was plenty of signage directing you to the designated area for Baptist. The entrance to the garage is on Giralda and the urgent care is on the corner of Giralda and 37th ave. The sign-in paperwork was very quick which I appreciated. I never understood why at other places you'd fill out a million pieces of paperwork when they ask you those same questions verbally 2-3 more times during the visit. When I arrived the very nice receptionist said she estimated it would be about 45 minutes give or take, maybe faster because it seemed they were moving quicker. There's free WiFi so why not start drafting a Yelp review and catch up on YouTube videos? I was called in at 9:18 pm so it was about 45 minutes waiting as promised. My biggest pet peeve about Miami is when people speak to me in Spanish, making assumptions without asking if that is my preferred language. That is exactly what happened here. The nurse who took my blood pressure and whatnot spoke with a very thick accent and he didn't do a good job transcribing what I told him into my chart, because another nurse came in at the end asking me to reiterate what I already said. The doctor came in and did a quick examination and ended up sending me to the ER for an ultrasound thinking it could be a blood clot. At the time I was pretty annoyed because it wasn't a blood clot, but as I was telling people about this incident I was surprised at how many knew of others who had similar random pains who actually did have a blood clot and died. So I do have a greater appreciation now for the doctor erring on the side of caution. I only wish they could have done the ultrasound at the urgent care but I guess there are some things you need an actual hospital for. I would return to this urgent care and had a mostly good experience minus the Spanish issue. I would also advise you to bring a sweater or wear pants because it was absolutely freezing in the waiting room. read more

I had an MRI at Baptist Medical Plaza at Coral Gables and they are absolutely fabulous. From the minute I walked into the door to the moment I left, they were courteous, informative and I felt comfortable and at ease. The registration staff was polite and quick. I was in the back very quickly. Before and during the MRI, the tech explained every detail of what would be happening during the exam, what I would be hearing, etc. I was given headphones to listen to soothing music and believe it or not, even with all that noise, I dozed off a bit. The MRI took a long time, but I didnt even realize it thanks to very courteous staff and a great MRI technician. Thank you!!! read more

Great place. Staff is very friendly and helpful. There was slight delay while I waited for an exam but the staff came in to let us know the cause & that we would be seen soon. They offered us something to drink & blankets ( it was chilly). All test were smooth and professional. Equipment looked state-of-the-art shiny & new. First they lost my old MRI's left in their custody for future comparison. Just a "Dam we lost them". No apologies, no reparations... nothing. They don't care. Today I have been in the phone 45 minutes trying to make an appointment for ultrasound... just second rate music and third rate sound. read more

I will put -1 stars if possible. Lack of transparency, unethical practices and total disregard for patient complains. Be prepared to be charged for unjustified not informed tests. I get there for mild urine infection, no pain, no fever, just bothersome frequent urination and history of kidney stones. Making the story short, Dr Hernandez diagnosed lower urinary tract infection, told me she will request urine analysis and urine culture ONLY. After, getting the bill 1.5 month later for +970$ most of which was covered by my insurance, I found they charged me 94$ out of pocket for urine pregnancy test.The doctor never told me she will request one, never asked gynecolgycal questions, an her only diagnosis was urinary infection. Never got my results of the urine culture. I have sent several emails, made several calls to customer service, billing department, and patient experience. Only once get somebody to reply of patients experience who replied "baptist ask for pregnancy test to all women in childbearing age even if she is 12 years old, but given your history I understand this was not proper in your case, I will request the billing department to cancel this 94$". A month later I got a final notification asking me to pay the 94$, after that, nobody replies the phone in customer service, all you hear is an automated voice requesting you to write and email, and obviosuly nobody will reply your email or call you back.
