Always a great time coming to Bar140, it's a neighborhood bar located in downtown Shelton with cozy vibes and great food and drink. Bar 140 is known for their French fries and dipping sauce, perfect to paid with a drink or two. They have a small and a large size, the small is great for 2, order the large if you have 3 or more, it's is quite big. I love their sauces specifically the peppercorn and cajun, perfect pair. They always have a solid list of draft beer, good varieties. Also, they have a nice cocktail menu, my wife got a cocktail with taro tea in it, she loved it especially since it was different. The bartender was very friendly quick, she was on the money bringing out food in a timely manner. This place always has nice decor inside the bar for whichever themed holiday is occurring, great place.

Had a rare kid free evening and was excited to check this place out. It's small enough to feel like an intimate space but large enough that you can have a conversation with your group and not feel like you have to speak over the parties around you. Great cocktail menu and a good variety of beers on tap. Well curated selection of tequilas and bourbon too! I ordered the small frites and veggie burger and you can tell everything is made fresh to order. They have a good variety of things on their menu so everyone in your group is sure to find something.

Updated review: welp it took 2 years but they are finally open for lunch on weekends so I went today and again the food was phenomenal!! This place is foodie heaven. The drinks are good too. Now that they are open for lunch I will be a frequent flyer on weekends. Great service, great drinks and awesome food. You won't believe you are eating in the valley!!! Go here now!! Thank me later!! I've been wanting to try this place for awhile now but was always skeptical because it's more bar than restaurant and really how good is bar food?! Well OMG this place has delicious food! It is not even close to your typical bar food, this place has fresh homemade food, nothing prepackaged and frozen. It's the next morning and I can't stop thinking about how good this place is. Not only do I give it 5 stars I have to say this may be the best food I have ever had in Shelton! They should forget the bar and turn this place into a full restaurant? The bartender was our waitress and even with a full bar crowd she was attentive and wonderful. Couldn't ask for better service! Now the menu is small and a bit limited but remember this is more a bar than restaurant. Here's what we had French Fries with different dipping sauces- best damn FF I ever ate in my life! Tacos, black bean, beef and a veggie- authentic like the ones at food trucks on long wharf Sliders- freshest tasting beef ever- yes better than Plan B and the other big one Hot box- whiskey with warm apple cider from local cider mill! Really if you are a foodie and you've never tried this place you must go here and try it! To the owner if you ever read this. My biggest complaint about living in Shelton is it's hard to find good food! You have the best food I've ever eaten in this town. I see you do an awesome bar business but wish you would turn place into full restaurant expand your menu and open for lunch. I promise I would come every day!

On special the night we went were these ahi tuna tacos. Soo delicious and full of flavor and a wonderful compliment to an icy cold ipa.

Love coming here for happy hour. Great beer on tap and they make a killer cosmopolitan! A quaint hometown place. Delicious dipping sauces for the Fritas! Update: We come here alot and I have never had a bad meal. Their menu is small but very high in quality. If you are craving a burger, fritas, a massive salad topped with chicken, or an authentic mexican chicken soft taco ($3 each -cheap!), you will find it here and walk out extremely happy and satisfied. Fantastic selection of beer on tap that are cold and fresh. Love the tulip glasses.

My first time here I will definitely be back! Great beer selection, eclectic menu options, fun atmosphere. This is a great neighborhood bar kind of place...ya know where everybody knows your name!

Some of the best moules-frites I've ever had! I wish these were always on the menu. Be sure to order them when you can!

This is arguably the best food I've had in Connecticut. Their frites put Rudy's in New Haven to shame. Their soups are PHENOMENAL (I've had the tomato bisque with lump crab meat, and the baked potato chowder). The tacos are solid (I'm partial to the chicken), and their thanksgiving turkey burger special with cranberry mayo was also very good. The portions are generous, and the prices are modest (and they include tax). I wish I was in this area more often. I would eat here once a week. I almost forgot, the beer selection (while not extremely expansive) has very good quality!

For small plates, we got the esquites and sweet plantains. The esquites was delicious. For the sweet plantains, they asked if we wanted the crema + queso fresco on the side but it still came on top. Plantains were alright, wasn't loving them though because they were drenched in the toppings. Kale salad was huge! Yummy and fresh. The food came out so quick. I love that they use corn tortillas for the tacos. The pork belly taco was drenched in kimchi, not my favorite but a good cut of pork belly. I like the lamb taco tasted just like a mini lamb gyro. The baja fish taco was my favorite though, it's comes in a huge slab. it was so good I ordered another. I love the chipotle sauce the Baja fish taco comes with too. The music was awesome too, such a vibe. A lot of EDM, felt like all they were missing was a disco ball. Very delicious, would come back.

There set up in corner of the plaza with outdoor seating to enjoy your Tacos. I ordered a Mango Habanero, El Pastor, and Chicken Taco. As I went to get my order, the owner told me he had given me an extra Taco, since I mentioned this was my time visiting the Taco truck. The Tacos were three for twelve dollars which wasn't a bad price. I don't know what the fourth Taco was that was given to me but all the Tacos were delicious. My favorite Taco was the Mango Habanero Taco. The first bite was spicy but the flavor in the chicken was dynamite. The Steak Taco was nicely seasoned, moist, and tender. They were just all around delicious Tacos and the customer service is great.

Stopped here for lunch, we got 4 tacos and we could also not leave without trying their Crunchwrap. They have a wide variety of flavors of protein to choose from, each come with two dipping sauces. Options include mango habanero chicken, ground beef, chorizo and a host of others. We got a chorizo, birria and a sweet chili chicken taco. All outstanding! The tortillas were super crispy and have a brown cheesy coating on the outside, that's what makes it stand out from the rest. We also got the Mango Habanero Chicken Crunchwrap, outstanding as well. Service was quick and friendly, they are passionate about what they do. Hours are limited and they only have one table for outdoor dining, best bet is to take this to a park somewhere, that's what we did!! We will absolutely come here again, amazing food.

I ordered Birria Tacos and a Sope with Steak. It took about fifteen minutes to prepare and the Sope with the Steak was delicious. My bill came out to $16.91 including tax. The steak tacos had plenty of meat-but the seasonings were lackluster at best but the fresh lime helped out to give it some taste/flavor. The corn tortillas were doubled up as per usual, heated on the grill and filled with steak & cilantro and they didn't break (surprisingly)! I was underwhelmed- the tacos were just tacos, nothing special, no flavor profile was evident: except the cilantro & lime. The steak (really beef meat) was chewy; very chewy... so sad & disappointing. The rice and beans is what really threw me off (please look at the pic). It had what looked like yellow rice stir fry vibes with frozen peas and carrots=sided with refried beans!!? There was literally a miniscule amout of taste, flavor and eye appeal. The rice seemed tasteless and I tried to mix the refried beans with the rice and made it worse! In my 35t years of Cheffing-it-up, I've NEVER seen Spanish, Mexican,Puerto Rican or ANY Latino rice and beans look and taste like that! ( I WANTED A KNIFE TO SCRAP MY TONGUE!!!) I do understand that different cultures prepare their rice & beans differently, but this was the first and last time I see and taste something like this and call it rice and beans! Oh my... I rate the rice and beans [negative]-2.25 out of 5 stars and the tacos 1.75 stars out of 5 stars. This was an interesting experience to say the least. Thanks Chef Clinton
